dav9ice0416:He is not a Christian. True Christianity is founded in love. All he does is fault finding of individuals, doctrines and churches the Bible itself indicates happens. There is the church at Corinth, the church at Ephesus, the church at Rome. These represent various doctrines and denominations we have today. All acceptable to God as children of differing characters in a home that brings the beauty of His family. Instead of focusing on the things that will bring about harmony, understanding and progress he continues to sow discord. What will he say to God was his mission on earth. |
OP, 160 kph is not high speed in the world of trains but as a fan of rail transport am excited Nigeria is showing sustained interest in this direction and commend the government for backing this up with concrete steps. We donot need to start with high speed trains and we donot need to start with passenger traffic. The government should invest more into cargo traffic where the problem lies and where the money is to further expand investment. It breaks my heart to see what we transport cross cou try on our roads, cargoes that are not worth the roads they pass on. Roads are built primarily to be 'soft' for comfort travel and to to ease the wear on tyres. They have load limits and when this is exceeded the normally elastic bituminous infusion gives way. Rail lines on the other hand are made from high strength corrosion resistant alloyed steel which is near indestructible. The load limits are tens of times more than roads and maintenance is just a fraction of the cost. So when we use our highways to haul such heavy loads as cement, stones, steel products and such worth less cargoes as farm produce we are eroding the resources with which to expamd and deepen our infrastructure foot print. Not surprising that we have not launched or comissioned any major, meaningful piece of transportation infrastructure in the last decade and a half. We are just battling to maintain the ones we have and losing that battle. If the government can provide a carrot in reliable cross country rail services and a stick in heavy tolling of articulated vehicles on the highway we can save huge amounts off our annual budget. The roads will be safer, last longer and enable us to focus on building newer, more efficient ones. Thus is what investors both local and foreign look out for, cost and efficiency of transport. Rail transport is known world wide to be the safest, cheapest and most reliable. When government has satisfied commerce and industry it can then focus on passenger transport. As a matter of fact this is best done by states which should invest in city to city linkages where the bulk of traffic resides. There are a lot more people travelling from parts of Ogun or Oyo to Lagos or Rivers to Abia or Anambra to Imo or Kano to Kaduna than there are folks travelling from say Kano to Lagos or Abuja to Portharcourt. States can do even more in this regards. |
life2017:So why insist INTELS pay into TSA. Double standards. ....political witch hunt.... you guys are impossible. |
NOETHNICITY:Hope you watched Channels TV news this evening. The general court martial in Bornu (a war zone) where a soldier wss sentenced to death for 'wasting' five civilians and another getting life for man slaughter involving the death of a minor. If the military authorities were not concerned this could snowball into anarchy, they won't act. They are concerned so should you. |
NOETHNICITY:Will you stop this nonsense. Where is it written it is right to shoot dead a person for not stopping at a checkpoint. If you don't get your country operating by rules you better remain in your house and never go out. We ae not a the mercy of individuals who twist privilege to suit their whims or else where does it stop. You confront a soldier he shoots you dead, you use a phone at the checkpoint he shoots you dead. You refuse to wind down your window, he shoots you dead. What is that nonsense. Are they not supposed to have rules and regulations on how to do their assignments or they just do whatever they wish because they wear uniforms and are armed. What kind of society is this. |
Nutase:This is absolute nonsense talk. No one has a right to kill another person except if faced with a direct threat to life. That is a universal rule of engagement. There is no law that says a citizen of this country can be gunned down for failing to stop at a check point. Not in Nigeria, not in any sane country and only in theatres of war can this be excused. The last time I checked, Kogi state is way off Borno or Adamawa. That incident ought to be investigated and the soldier charged. Granted it is not common sense to disobey a man with a gun but this applies to all men with guns including bandits. However it does not make it lawful or excusable. The fact that we love violence, lynchings and wanton bloodletting in this country on the excuse of failed law enforcement and judicial institutions does not make them right, civil or desirable. We should wake up and speak out against wrong when it is wrong. |
Said countless times that soldiers have no business whatsoever in the streets of Nigeria. I think it is time our Legislators enact the same laws operating in advanced democracies where uniform are forbidden on the streets. |
The courts ought to be careful. They are not answerable to the people, the governor is and it is the people who should decide what they want between jobs for unqualified teachers and a chance at a better standard of education for their wards. This is more a moral question than a question of law, order or jurisprudence, one for the State House of assembly to adjudicate. |
Nice. |
Well I think Lagosians say they are own all the works. Now the Feds are here to demolish their own bridges they built, it is clear who owns what and if the bulk of Lagosians make use of Federal infrastructure, I don't know what aĺl the noise is about. Lagosians should ply Lagos state roads and stop whinning. |
amalab30:And how this all fits with the National Assembly and extra budgetary appropriations. Is it even legal. |
FRANKOSKI:He took a bullet along time ago and it caused all sorts of problems since then, period. |
That is very shameful of Sahara Reporters. Very silly indeed. The man has his faults aplenty but his medical condition results from his military career and has nothing to do with politics or his time in power. They should do their investigations. People should not be mocked for the fallout of their profession. He was a courageous, professional soldier and he is paying for that today. Many more have paid that price and are still paying the price in conflict zones all around Nigeria. They should not be mocked for that no matter how chequered their futures go on to be. |
Crime does not pay. Riches without morals ends badly. Be a man/woman of value. |
For argument sake I will say the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu. He's been very stable and consistent. Has not put a foot wrong and is not enmeshed in one controversy or the other. Gives the APC little flank to attack. If there is to be a President from the east, I will subscribe any day. The others have long chequered histories that will ultimately distract from any message and a few are just not politicians or quality administrative materials. |
Yeah. I think that was a strategic error. If the PDP doesn't make political in-roads through the 2019 jungle, they can refer to this period as the point when they lost their compass....or GPS as we say today. |
hakeem4:....duh |
Institutionalise the fight or else..... All these me, myself and I cannot work. You simply donot have the resources to stay out there alone. The corruption you fight is hydra headed, better organised, better resourced and is far better at team play. The first thing FBI founding director did was to select a group of young turks, brilliant chaps out of statewide police departments and gave them marching orders for high profile, dangerous cases. You hardly heard J.Edgar in the media or on stage. This was why he was feared so much even by the President. It was his boys that brought down the notorious Newyork and Chicago crime syndicates, various mafia families and infiltrated various dangerous left wing underground marxist movements. You simply cannot attempt to do that all on your own and survive for long. Instead of all these press postulating and meaningless rallies he should quietly build a following, a movement predominantly amongst the youth. Have private teaching and motivational meetings akin to religious outreaches. Slowly build a quantum of backers in all works of life that view the issues your way then he himself will discover he does not need the kind of protection being tossed and turned here. If the bad guys want him they can just payoff his so called security to do it for them. The smarter way to go about his crusade will be to layer himself with ideology(ists). NB. J Edgar headed the FBI till death. There was not a person, an act, a congress, a president nor anyone else who could dare touch him. And you could only criticise from the safety of your inner sanctum (after serious debugging). Did he start that way, no. Was it the best, no...but it kept him safe till God called and established the most formidable crime fighting agency known to mankind. |
PaChukwudi44:You have heard him but just choose to ignored the points he raised. One. There are hundreds of church brands in Nigeria, tens of thousands of pastors, how many of them have corporate jets at their disposal. Are they up to ten. So in the world of jets Nigerian pastors remain in the minority. Two. Amongst the few who use jets almost all of them have extensive church networks which keep them on the road and in the air week in week out. The have multiple speaking engagements within and outside their church networks, they have extensive administrative responsibilities and do a lot of social responsibility activities. How that is possible using scheduled commercial air services beats me. If corporate executives cannot do it how much more pastors with much bigger responsibilities. Third. Security. For a start if such vile remarks can be made on social media you can expect the intent in reality to be much worse. From atheists through fundamentalists to terrorists seeking to do harm (Popes in the past have survived assassination attempts). Today his security is top notch. Even ordinary folks, reporters, church members will not make commercial travel and unsecured access in travel possible. It has been so since the time of Christ. Granted there is a bit of class/status symbol thing going on with perhaps one or two but most of the ones I know who fly corporate regularly is out of absolute necessity. And if their church members and other Christians in far flung locations felt this was an inhibition they would gladly donate to see their GO's and what have you more frequently. |
The die is cast. The PDP is going for quantity over quality. Political expediency once more. Someone who can defeat Buhari over someone who can move Nigeria forward. Is there better evidence folks that without restructuring Nigeria simply cannot get it right. See the price we pay for having someone who coukd defeat Jonathan rather than someone who could progress this country. Mistakes in repetition are symptomatic of failed systens. Cannot be coincidence. |
Lala did you copy.. |
calyto:Agree with you. The expansion of the private sector or the decline of its fortunes are government driven so they can claim credit or attract criticism respectively from the public. However the government should not be making a roll call or inventory of these establishments except if they had 'direct' input in their creation, expansion or the likes. If xyz company did not receive direct government investment, support, bailout, etc like the American government did for General Motors or tax rebates for Boeing Corporation, government should not call them out as specific achievements. It should only speak in general terms preferably statistically. Similarly when companies fold up due to poor government policy or practice we cannot say government forcefully or deliberately closed down xyz companies (because closure was voluntary) but when they do as in the case of Intels they can lay claim to that or we can hold them on that account. |
enlady:Someone must have quietly told her that all the negativity wasn't selling and that as a government in power not in opposition their natural role was playing defence not attack. Wetin concern us. They will have to convince Nigerians. We don't vote. Never have and under this structure never will. |
PaChukwudi44:Who said you cannot serve God without tithing. You can, its just that if you have a functional conscience you will want to be a good Christian. We serve a God of mercy. He will not jail you like a government you fail to pay tax to. The battle is not of rebellion, it is of misinformation which is worse. Rebellion is for those who know they do wrong. Misinformation on the other hand will snare even the innocent, tactics Satan has used since the beginning. He doesn't need to tempt the fallen. It is the sheep he seeks to scatter. |
PaChukwudi44:That is the responsibility of the church to do. They have the organisational capacity to identify and resource the less privileged far better than you ever can. If I may ask how many poor people do you know and how many can you resource. By putting resources together and making 'food available in his house' your little can multiply. That is the wisdom behind that scripture. Similarly my tax and your tax to government on its own can do little. Put together under the authority of government it commands better mileage and accomplishment. If everyone simply said I will tar a square yard of road representing my tax or choose the policeman to pay his salary, how organised and effective do you think society will be. Mark you we are in the church age. An age or organised faith. Just like evangelism or missionary outreaches. They are more effective when organised rather than individualistic. How can you say your financial obligations to God are best handled by yourself. This is wierd. |
PaChukwudi44:I've addressed that already. I've said it is no business deal. But like everything in life one may start out thinking that way but after years find real love and purpose. When you've accumulated enough wealth and seen the futility of it then you realise the greater purpose in life, the ultimate purpose which is to return home.... to God. The next man deserves to be saved. Pay your tithes and get the machinery moving that will do it. |
PaChukwudi44:So be it. You can never see what we have seen. |
PaChukwudi44:The basic discord here is distribution. People who have a problem with tithing want to take the responsibility of distribution. But you are not bringing to God what you are giving out. Tnere are a lot of scriptures about giving to the poor. But tithes are soecifically to be brought to God's House and entrusted into the hands of the Levites, the priests who distribute based on instruction. You simply cannot say to government, I have bought a transformer or built a road in xyz location so I will not pay my tax or because governor xyz rides a limousine I will not pay or decide for government what it shoukd or should not spend money on. Tnere are mechanisms for that but the obligation remains clear. The kingdom of God operates that way. Every Christian has financial responsibilities detached from individuals or even churches. Your responsibility is towards him and his kingdom aboveevry other thing or person. When the gospel came to Africa in the old ages, it came on the back of kingdom responsibilities. I am certain there were tons of poor people in Europe then but folks gathered the little they had to sponsor missionaries round the world. Today the reverse is the case, the gospel has to go round the country, round the continent and back to europe where it is faltering. How do you get this done when you refuse to tithe. I come from a family with ultra strong ties to the church. We know how these things work over several generations. Forget about those who misue and abuse it. It is not a pastors' meal ticket. It is not a business deal with God. It is borne out of conviction to see the gospel prosper and we don't think a minute of its efficacy. |
Follysho707:Abuse all you like, its not your money and you can do absolutely nothing to stop real Christians from expressing their absolute obligations in their love for their church and their God. Absolutely nothing. This is the best you can do. Nothing. |
Sapiosexuality:Tithes are not for the poor, simple. It is to build the church. It is to expand the kingdom of God and we are satisfied more and more people are getting to hear the gospel by every means. Alms to the poor is a different account. It was, is and will ever be. Preaching the gospel and giving to the poor are not the same thing. All the tangetial moves to erode the finaces of the church will not work, period. Our tithes go to buying lands, renting buildings, paying salaries, printing inspirational materials, buying air tickets, bus tickets, fuelling power plants, buying time on radio and tv stations, maintaining websites. It is oatronage by those who desire to see the word of God reach out to yet another man and as long this is being done we are satisfied to continue paying. Judas the thief did not discourage other disciples from following so any thief who is stealing in God's kingsom now certainly won't. An act of tithing is an obedience to God by faith, not an act to man by fear so no amount of propaganda will stop a man of faith. For if such a man received the gospel by the means of another surely another will receive the gospel by his means. I received my salvation at a 'Full Gospel Business Mens' convention many years ago. I was invited. Someone paid for my dinner. Today I have no right to decide otherwise because of one fellow who knows little about what true Christianity is and hasn't shared in the experiences of many. |
Just put a glass ceiling above your life. Now there are many folks you will never meet, places you will never go and timelines that can never prosper you anymore... for what return.... We have a responsibility to give ourselves the best chance in life. If not for ourselves, at least for those we love and those that care about us. What a selfish, self serving way to live. |
Ezenwa in goal for world cup...hmmm...bookies go dey give 'no clean sheet' odd of 1.00000000001. Meaning dat even if you put all the wealth of your future generation na only one naira go drop say de boy no go chop goal. |
