TheUbermensch:Church is not just for contact with God but more importantly for fellowship with man. That is the meeting of brethren for the purpose of solidarity, friendship and the kind of togetherness found in families. People oft say the church stands aloof to the needs of its members offering spiritual services only. Well church programs bring people to cater for one another. And I will like to say that this is what triggered the quest for foreign missions. That unlike the Europeans who came to Africa primarily to prosletise, our churches set up abroad initially to cater for the needs of its members who had relocated abroad. Most early churches abroad started as house fellowships. Success and growth made them full functional churches. Then the fear of losing membership forced some others to open branches abroad. These were the origins. |
dominique:C'mon, don't be dull. You walk into a bank and ask them to 'block' someone elses account based on what exactly. And who gives the bank that authority to do that. If it was that easy I will block the accounts of any Nigerian I so desire. Just transfer 2,000 to Mr. President's account and accuse him of robbing me in my sleep. Pal. You need law enforcement and the judiciary to do that and it will cost a heck more than 15k and a few scorns of derision. |
Tuition paid in full to the: School of Hard Knocks, Faculty of Scammery, Department of Finance. Course Code: 119-A1/1. Course Content: ATM low jacking. Please give your lectures the attention they deserve. Thank you. |
brownhawk:Shut it there. Politicians everywhere in the civilised world get rough treatment when the people revolt. The UK, France, Germany, Korea have seen the stoning of their leaders. Bush got a shoe in another country for that matter. TA Orji got a sack full of water bombs and GEJ was pelted in Kano. In all these no one was killed. Who the hell is Ortom. If truly folks died on his watch he should resign before dawn or the people are too docile to deserve better. If he ordered the shooting he should be impeached immediately and prosecuted. If you see contrary to this you have lost every right to decent governance and should not complain about leadership ever again in your life. What happened today in Benue is totally unacceptable by any standards. Forget politics. We talk humanity here. |
So if I travel to Dubai, Thailand or China to live, work or play where should I go.... to a mosque, temple and bow to the statue of Chairman Mao... Step by step your intentions will become clear. |
The last time I spoke about this I said, that this tragedy has no military solution. It is slmost a year since, hundreds of lives lost and no solution. It is time for fresh thinking and new ideas. Fundamentalism has at its heart a strong binding ideology. Break that and the sheep is scattered, the system is blèd of oil and grinds to a halt. Boko Haram has at its heart a twisted interpretation of Islam. Whatever the cult has become today started with this and the only way to drain this toxicity is to push through in no clearer terms what Islam says about the situation, in that areas to those people, consistently, with great focus and commitment. I haven't seen this happen in any deliberate, organised manner. Boko Haram has recruited thousands to spread falsity. Where are the recruits Nigeria has in place to tell the truth to them and win them back to sanity and normality. It will cost a lot less than a billion dollars and will be a whole lot more effective. Remember the Americans with all their military resources could not stop communism from consuming south Vietnam, jihadists from taking over Iraq and has not halted them in Afghanistan and Libya. Only soft power can do it with a reverse ideology to match. |
Fulani herdsmen fighting for every blade of grass, businessmen fighting for every shovel of limestone, face-me tenants fighting for the corridor....men we are too many in this country for the resources we have. If your father had more than two of you and you plan to hsve more than two kids...serious fight awaits in the future. Singapore is the first country in the world that has placed a moritorium on building new roads. What this means is that they are winding down infrastructure expansion....also known as....our country is filled to capacity look else where. They value the quality of life.... not quantity. |
bedspread:Every administration has its security challenges. The suppresion of Bokoharam has led to the uncovering of other equally daunting groups. |
This is a commendable way to go about service delivery by the Power Ministry. You acknowlege, apologise and inform. Fashola seems to be getting a grasp of his mandate. Having said that I still feel nothing is being done to address our strategic vulnerability. When you find yourself in critical danger, disadvantage or need the most important thing to do is develop alternatives or multiple redundancies. Aircraft have multiple alternative systems to keep them airborne in case of failure of parts. In this economy it will be foolhardy to think of survival without multiple jobs, businesses, investments. If power is so critical why depend solely, critically on gas (the rains have ceased so hydropower will be gone by next month), then with gas why rely solely on one gas delivery company. Why will a whole power station have only one gas pipe supplying it. That is no business. If the government wants this power problem solved quickly it has to open up the industry to not just alternative ideas but to increase the number of players in its club because injuries are part of the game. The industry now is just too narrow and 'carteled' to serve optimally. I don't even want to add the corrosive nature of that monster called NNPC to the mix which messes up everything it is involved in. |
dokiOloye:Then local authorities, a governor who is truly in touch with his people should be able to provide concrete proofs of external aggression and unofficial connivance and with that comes the many channels with which to seek redress, first with the courts of public opinion. If Wike is not behind this and it is beyond his ability why doesn't he speak up loudly and clearly to all Nigeria and beyond as to what is going on there. |
dokiOloye:Then local authorities, a governor who is truly in touch with his people should be able to provide concrete proofs of external aggression and unofficial connivance and with that comes the many channels with which to seek redress, first with the courts of public opinion. If Wike is not behind this and it is beyond his ability why doesn't he speak up loudly and clearly to all Nigeria and beyond as to what is going on there. As for that O/C mopol case I don't think the governor has done enough. I have not heard the case going beyond the courts of the media. Has he petitioned the PSC. Has he gone to court. |
dokiOloye:Oga this is invalid. There is a lot a governor can do. Social ills are not all about hard power. Where is the political will. Where are his negotiating skills, where are his diplomatic skills. Does he mean he cannot reach out to anybody in that community to win over the minds of the sane half. What has he done to better the economic, the educational and social lot of the people of that area to distract them from cultism. Anywhere you see violence means the breakdown of communication. It is in the purview of the local government to ensure there is no gap between itself and the people and between peoples first before law enforcement steps in. They should organise town halls, call out civil society groups, get mediators in and sort out the problem once and for all. That is leadership and Wike is not showing this.. Yes, I say the first layer of law enforcement should be local not federal as we have in Nigeria but this does not absolve civilian, political administration from their responsibilities to keep their dogs on a leash. If Wike cannot manage that the people of Rivers state should find another who can. |
Nice. They have been repeatedly warned that these things are illegal. |
Bollinger:This is what I repeatedly say....just fed up of talking.... |
....hmm... cryptic response I tell ya. but the guys wey discover dis tin no try. Dem for wait till swearing in den come land Aso Rock wit enough coffins.... |
Na...they thought this was Easter where the graves were opened and the tombstones rolled away. Folks, this is Christmas and this administration needs a new life.... a breathe of fresh air. |
Honestly, just when you thought we just couldn't get any lower they proceed past water, sink past crude oil, now they head for the mantle....oh well...at least I learnt something today....the origins of the term 'ghost worker' for these guys have gone as low as seeking out graft amongst the catacombs....by 2019 everyone will be demystified. |
hmmm....prophet. The last few lines have given the whole story away. '...he is humble.... I prefer...' C'mon, God doesn't work like that. Apart from the fact He has no business with the world and its affairs, when He makes decisions and selects people it is often at variance with general perception and expectation. Yes, Buhari will win another term barring any cataclysmic political implosion but believe me God is not interested in that. He has set His laws and precepts in place and this is the basis of what happens on earth. Prophesies and revelations are strictly about His Will for His children in His kingdom. |
Well this is a lesson to all that believe in unbridled borrowing as a panacea to poverty and as a political tool. That it can backfire badly. As long as the fundamentals for productuvity are not in place any leverage sought is just a recipe for financial disaster. Nigeria as a whole has very weak fundamentals that all the infrastructure in the world cannot address. Restructure Nigeria now. |
gypsey:Of course it sounds like trash to you because you are not in that world. How do you explain snow to an arab. I said it from the start. The way the world works and the way the kingdom of God works are different. Sorry, I can't help with that. You need to visit there to understand. |
gypsey:These pastors bring many to the knowledge of God. In the kingdom that is success. Anyone in the chain of events leading to this will be rewarded by God. Is this short enough. |
Mechejy:Peter lent his boat to Jesus to preach the gospel. God rewarded him with a mighty catch. People have been giving towards the gospel for ages and God has been blessing them. People have given cars, houses, aircraft, ships, money, all sort of things so that someone somewhere can hear the good news and be saved. Jesus said himself that if any man 'loses' these things in respect of the kingsom and the gospel, a reward awaits Him here and a life in beaven. A promised He made clear to Peter the fisherman. That js the financial system God operates. It has made many wealthy when the purpose of such gifts were given in love. |
gypsey:The summary of good success is getting people saved. It is reproducing your salvation in the life of another. That is the summary of God's financial plan for man. He blesses people so that they can be instruments to propagate His kingdom. Is this what Bill is doing or Mark or Jeff, I don't know but that is what the bible calls good success. It is not by the standards of the world. The world has its own definition of success. Once more there is no comparison. Gid blessed David of old immensely so that He would build a temple to Him. God blessed Solomon of old so He could build a country for Him. God blessed Peter after allowing Jesus use his boat to preach the gospel. That is biblical success. The bible definition of good success. Stop comparing it to the world. Christianity is not in competition with the world. |
RaptorX:How many times will this be said. That tithng is for the building of the kingdom of God. It is understood by God's people and its reward system is of God whether material or spiritual. As the American financial system is different from the Nigerian one so is God's different from man. Trying to compare the two is baseless. There have been wealthy people, influential people, powerful people in the world right from creation and will be till the end of time. It has nothing to do with God. Any man who applies the principles of success consistently will become successful and experience worldly success but only those who apply God's principles of success will have Godly success. The one called 'good' success. |
What kind of nonsense are people saying here. Praising the priest because of his reactionary stance to failed political leadership and berating other church leaders particularly the pentecostal ones as self serving. All well and good but short memories have forgotten certain pentecostal leaders were politically vocal a couple of years ago with warnings but they were shouted down and derided as being politically opposed to the present government. That was at a time when most Nigerians were swayed by political propaganda and swept off their feet by love stories. Fast forward two and a half years. Now that it has all turned to dust the Pentecostal leaders are being accused of silence and connivance....honestly Nigerians deserve applied suffering to build sustainable layers of positive mentality. We are so fickle minded and boast retentive memories no better than a 3 month old baby. They have forgotten all the warnings of 2015. It is after the politicians have slapped them silly that mental bulbs are lighting up. |
These are people that claim to grow from a conservative, reserved and prudent tree. What do you see in reality. Just as we saw in the mid-eighties the same boisterous decadence on display amongst the elite. Few things do change in reality in this country. Now the state will have to fork out huge sums to address this unfortunate but avoidable incident. Just wish the lad the best. So unfortunate. Mr. President, please take charge at home. What your son was doing is illegal in Nigeria and most countries of the world. |
By 2019 eneryone will be demystified. It is only when exams come we know whether those who raise their hands in class and talk more than they listen actually hold substance. Na tough times dey prove hot air aka propaganda. |
And what percentage of this money filters through to Niger Republuc, Chad and the Cameroun. |
Though reminiscence is a potent tool for political pressure on a sitting government but in this case it is becoming a bit too much. If we castigate the government for blaming all the present ills on the past administration then we ought to shrink that battle ground by moderating the comparisons with the past also when it comes to better times. Even the bible tacitly warns against living in the past as unwise. So can we move on on both sides of the argument and debate solutions to the present predicament instead. |
I can guarantee you that nobody will eat fresh fruits and vegetables over Christmas. Haba. Is it unto death. Even nutritionists will not take their own advice. Two days of indulgence will not kill anyone as two days of exercise and diet will not shrink Michelin Man. |
GoroTango:Sounds very North Korean. But you have to understand that apart from sentiment the electoral capital of Mr President is all but exhausted. He needs a big loan to remount his political horse. Once again, anymore SNAFU's between now and 2019 and its curtains. |
ivandragon:Hahahaha....you can say that again. |
