Elxandre:Another. Can you show me one Mark Zuckerberg in LASU to justify the wearing of rags to lectures. |
mmsen:You chaps just love extremes. And how many Steve Jobs are there even in America. Please the bulk of these misfits don't even come close. |
Laid2001:Hmmmm. So they now all dress as if they want to work for Don Jazzy... |
All political office holders do it on both sides of the divide. I'm certain this is one of those statements he will either retract or say he was misquoted. Opposition is easy. |
Hahahahaha. Chai. Nigeria. Which one cum make pastor dey brandish matchete. Dat one na to run 440. No be by force mbok. |
Double post. |
Well said. I can expect no less from the foremost institution in Nigeria and I salute their continued patriotism and outright professionalism in the face of daunting challenges. I will never elevate the views of an individual over that of an institution. Even Presidents come and go but institution remain eternal. Jonathan will one day go. Obasanjo has gone almost a decade now. Why is he trying to undermine the very institution he was party to building. Why. |
fpeter:Its her age that is 50 not her active years in service. C'mon, who can do that rubbish for 50 years even if you wanted to buy the Taj Mahal. |
tonididdy:Lots of photos. Even on Nairaland just a few days ago. Check the archives and have your fun. Those who are in the midst of it all donot need pictoral evidence. |
egift:Competence was not the best foot forward 12 months ago. It was about anti-corruption. Jailing looters. What has happened since then. |
Bizibi:Hmmm. I doubt that. They may be the naughty generation but how do you account for the popularity of the Tinubu's and Akpabio's (to be politically correct) who have stolen billions. Look at the mirror and tell me from your heart whether this isn't true and whether you don't back one side or the other. That is the problem. The backing. The man in the mirror. To show you how bad and upside down things are in Nigeria, Buhari's MAIN appeal and hitherto campaign theme was anti-corruption stance. Now this. Concessions here and there. On a good day in a land far, far away he will be grilled on this and by Monday his popularity will be seeking re-entry. That is Nigeria for you. Nothing changes. |
So Obasanjo and Jonathan are on the same page on the Buhari anti-corruption bruhaha. I was right when I said last year that to move to the centre Buhari will have to dine with pigs. It should be clear to the so called masses that the establishment has won. Buhari HAS LEARNT HIS LESSONS that Nigeria is corrupt because of the very Nigerians voting him in and animals in general donot eat their kind. Ex-Presidents are cutting deals. If he can't look at an ex- and say to his face, 'you are going to jail', what can he do about those with immunity. What about those outside his federal reach, what about those of other 'marginalised' tribal leanings and religious affiliations. What will he do about the all powerful and equally notorious National Assembly. What about the cartels who have more cash than the government, the billionaires club and their influence. What if all these blocs fuse together to maintain the status quo. What will he do. To me, one concession is as good as one pin prick in an otherwise good tyre. Its just a matter of time. That is why it is useless to pin one's hope on just a man to handle widespread, deep-rooted, systemic problems. It is a collective effort not one of horse and jockey. |
Arysexy:Okay you Krauts, a good number of 'vehicle entries into buildings' are in reversal simply because of deflection. Buildings have all sorts of obstacles in their path and if the speed is great enough the car will bounce off one and spin. |
Hmmm. Any CCTV footage for uploading to 'Most Shocking" - Naija drivers happy hour. But na danfo go dominate cum spoil show. |
owobokiri:We delibrately underfunded and dismantled the military as a fighting force as punishment for their years of intrusion into the political space. First by IBB (which I personally witnessed) who saw the members of his own corps as a threat and so did not invest in upgrading equipment. NACA also suffered. The Ikeja bomb blast wiped out a lot of stores OBJ never replaced. It was a testament to the decline of those two critical corps. And OBJ concluded with the retirement of many top commanders who had any combat and peace keeping experience. GEJ inherited a hollowed out military. Unfortunately for his as a civilian.he could not read the danger signs and.act swiftly enough. He was being told typically that everything was in order. |
Music generates great passion and emotions so it could be motivating, inspiring or destructive. I guess the general rule is: what are you trying to achieve by listening to 'that' particular work or piece. If I am a soldier going into battle the last thing I need to hear is, “draw me nearer, nearer blessed Lord to the cross where thou has died...". That is self defeating. Fela's "Zombie" is a lot better but will be totally out of context on a Sunday morning like this. Sportsmen going into competition, artistes, sculptors, painters, architects, designers all listen to different types of music to inspire them or to give them that mental edge, that motivation to perform. Music is powerful. I listen to a lot and even some considered of very poor taste. I could remember a particular incident in which I had to leave Lagos for Portharcourt by road at 11pm after a hectic day. Guess what artiste I played all night to stay awake. Finally, the mind is a great reservoir of thoughts and information. Music and lyrics are stored subconsciously so when you listen overtly or covertly to certain pieces you really don't appreciate, like those magnetic tapes of old write over them with new material. Listen to the right stuff to 'detox' the mind. Which means you should listen to music often because there is a lot of bad stuff out there all the time and your mind is a fertile ground for corruption. |
I will sincerely like to see what Buhari can and will d if elected. Honestly its as bad as it gets. I can personally confirm about half a dozen with water tight evidence. But again it is the people who decide what happens and.they are comfortable and supportive of them so it continues. Corruption CAN NEVER END NOR DECREASE only transform from one grouping to another. |
Females in general and female comedians in particular, not just the local ones. Comedy is a man's thing whether stand up, stage or screen. Women simply cannot tell a joke. |
idupaul:Why are they called bathroom slippers. I walk barefooted in the bathroom. I can imagine what a few drops of water between rubber and floor tile can.do since there are enough hard surfaces to bang your head on. |
Boss13:Anyone under duress will get an abundance of mockery. That is not new. When you eventually succeed you become the cynosure of all eyes. When we were gripped with the scourge of ebola we were mocked in the west and even fellow Africans joined in. When we succeeded we became the cynosure of all eyes. Same with this fundamentalist scourge. We may be slow on the uptake but we will be the first once again to put this monster down and it will be the military taking the credit just like our doctors. |
barcanista:You are very naive. You think the streams of corruption arise from one spring. When I say the corruption we see is territorial and arises from structural imbalances in this country people think I know not what I say. Let me lecture you on what the real Nigeria is about. Because we donot have power equilibrium in Nigeria EVERY aspirant to office WILL HAVE TO SETTLE the other side in order to enjoy safe passage and longevity. Failure to do this is courting trouble and a threatened breakdown of the system. Whether by omission or commission the present government is paying through its nose to 'contain' the north. Yaradua did same in 'amnesty' to hold the south. If Buhari wins he will have to 'pacify' the south through massive bribery. He is already doing so with the Christian community and will do so till his tenure expires. My friend. Corruption in Nigeria CANNOT end under the present structure. The society demands 'settlement', everyone feels he is marginalised. Nigerians practice and enjoy the 'entitlement' culture. Buhari tried unsuccesfully in 83'. He will try again. There may be superficial results at best but he cannot do it. He is a Nigerian. He has already made too many concessions. That is the fact. |
DuchessLily:Correct girl. Na joke we dey oh. |
DuchessLily:Okay na. You go turn to fossil before archeologist go show interest. |
shodexy:You are absolutely, totally so, so wrong. General is the pinacle of a ranking (serving) member of the armed forces. The rank of Field Marshall is a symbolic, ceremonial, temporary honour given to non serving members invited or visiting the theatre of war or significant operations such as Heads of State, retired top ranking servicemen, etc. If Agwai was visiting front line troops today (of course he won't do so in mufti) in some special advisory role at the bequest of the government he will be ranked a Field Marshall (to establish a clear line of seniority between him and the serving generals) for that short period of time. But in all seriousness.I cannot consider the present insurgency signifgicant enough to bring in old war horses. |
neighy:Okay oh....and I'm certain you have called someone clueless in the last five years or so. |
OP,the NDA is more or less a primary schl when compared to the American defense academy. We 've not got there yet.Oya Mr. Wet Towel. Name your own profession, institution, school, vocation for comparative analysis. |
egesie:And what happened to the full Generals. |
neighy:Major General? Check that coffee again for contaminants. Its killing you slowly. |
Estimable:No. Its actually in 'Access Bank'. |
madridguy:At the expense of who. Do you work or not or do you own a business. At whose expense do you make a living. Please elevate your thinking and get rid of this shabby attitude. |
Babaneh:That is why government has no business in business. They lack the fundamentals. And the NNPC is the worst thing to have ever happened to the economy of this country. Whoever set up that criminal enterprise ought to be executed or jailed for eternity. That organisation is worse than the 'Cosa Nostra' in criminality and sworn secrecy. It stinks to high heavens. If you work or once worked there and have not repented I cannot assure you, your vacation cruise to the hottest part of hell is booked and fully paid for. |
She should just....go away. She is one of the reasons this government has become very unpopular. For all the perceived benefits she brings, the cost has been and will be catastrophic. She should have been removed ages ago. |
