For your information no city in Nigeria meets the minimum requirements for 'livability', certainly not for expats. Nigeria is just not a tourist destination. If you are counting heads as evidence then I can tell you there are probably more expatriates in the small town of Brass than in the entire south-west. Does it make Brass friendly. No. They have probably tied down a Brigade of crack troops guarding them. For what reason.... go figure. Nigeria does not start and end in Lagos. |

They should have directed their action to Aso Rock and GEJ because GEJ has reduced Nigerian Military to ordinary "Boys scout" that hears the sound of gun and take to their heels. They are protesting against your type. Totally useless as a citizen. Instead of viewing the war with objectivity you just open your mouth and say rubbish. Is the American Army not pulling out of Afghanistan. Is the Taliban defeated. Please answer. What happened to Kennedy after the Bay of Pigs debacle? Was he called names. The American military lost the war against an ideological enemy in the Vietcong. Were they condemned by the American public even after grave human rights abuses, torture and massacres. Is there any active army or military force in the world that hasn't lost any battle. Read your history. The Pacific battles against the Japanese. Caisson, Guadacanal, Iwo Jima. American marines suffered heavy casualties against a Japanese force well adapted to the terrain and fundamentalist in nature. They withdrew many, many times in the course of those battles but prevailed eventually, winning the war. The Nigerian military has not given up the fight and people talk nonsense. We will prevail. I have never been a fan of armed conflict because I have seen enough. I believe there is a negotiable solution but the enemy must be forced to the table by superior weight of arms and the military is doing that. Without them this country will be overrun. No business, no homes, no family and certainly no network to talk rubbish. |

Sin has never been about the act but the intent. That is why the bible says we should guard our hearts, renew our minds, to find God's will. A well oiled Christian is led by the Spirit on the principle of the Word and at the command of God the Father. If He commands you so, it is written in the Word and your conscience permits why not. It cannot be a sin. |

Politics › Re: Fayose Awards N1.2bn Contract To Local Carpenters by Reference(m): 4:45am On Mar 04, 2015 |
stinggy: A very good move by Fayose, worth emulating by all governors. No form of empowerment for the locals is more than this. Sentiments apart this is a very, very good move for several reasons. First, someone mentioned salaries and I say this is better for the government than paying salaries because it doesn't have to go through a 30-day often unproductive cycle to dole out huge amounts for services. It can do so by contract, paying what it can, when it can. Secondly, all governments should take a cue from this to fight and at least halve the 'Julius Berger' syndrome which is as viscious and addictive as narcotics. We really need to generate local capacity and improve our peoples' competencies while accepting their shortcomings just like every parent to a child. That is how great nations were built. America, Russia, China have totally independent codes of engineering practice weaved around their cultures and circumstances. Why must all our bridges look 'german', now all our airports are looking distinctively chinese. The carpenters should build stuff they are comfortable with to a decent standard we MUST accept without eyeing 'foreign catalogues'. Finally and perhaps most importantly it places 'responsibility' back in the hands of the people who are the harshest critics of government. Now the ball is in the court of government. If the work done is shoddy, if there are cases of corruption or any other problems, it will not be a case of Fayose this or government that but that of, was it not your daddy who did this and your aunty who did that. This is the best outcome, shared responsibility. N.B: Before anyone thinks this is a political pitch in these tempestous times Fayose is not the first nor only governor to practice 'outsourcing', 'direct labour' or 'local content' to empower his people. A number of APC governed states have done so to date and very successfully too. |

The spade you should be calling GEJ is a nimwit, whether fuel scarcity happens daily or on occasion the recurrence is ridiculous in its entirety. It's a result of having a clueless govenment that feel no sense of responsibility to the citizens they govern.
Stop praising mediocrity and demand your government deliver, this isn't acceptable anywhere outside of Nigeria why are you taking it? But when the government wanted to remove subsidy you said no. Does the government of the country you live in partially pay for the fuel you use or you even have to pay VAT on the fuel you buy. Be factual because if there is one thing Nigerians are good at it is importing. So if it is scarce then it must be a question of pricing. |

It is one helluva painful innoculation but it eliminates a myriad of economic diseases. Only God knows what he will be telling technocrats. -He will rather go present a paper in London than attend a presidential debate in Nigeria. -He says he will win the election but does not know the meaning of INEC that will conduct the election. -He wants to benefit from democracy but overthrew a democratic government. - He obtained school certificate but cannot produce "the certificate". May God protect us from this hypocrite. Above all, he is a half star general who built his entire military career on fraud, falsehood and corruption! Buhari is just a fraud, a calamity waiting to happen! Well what is the alternative. A one-party state. That is far, far worse my friend. WHERE IS OUR PRESIDENT?
ANSWER: OUR PRESIDENT IS BUSY SHARING DOLLARS AND BILLIONS OF NAIRA TO PASTORS, IMAMS KINGS, POLITICAL ASSOCIATE, MILITANTS AND OTHERS WHILE THE CHILDREN OF AN AVERAGE NIGERIAN POPULACE ARE BEING SACKED FROM WORK. HIS WIFE IS BUSY CAMPAIGNING FOR HIM.
I agree with all above: What will happen to all the people being laid off? to theit children, wives, family? WHAT
When we raise our voices some people see all these as being an APC or PDP issues or being a politician! They ask if am not being too passionate! NO!!! It is OUR issue as NIGERIANS! We are meant to question a government that is NOT PERFORMING! And performance is tied to reality of what is happening.
We need to stop looking through our mirror of political and religious biases and see things as they are! Nigeria is in a bad state and Nigerians are suffering! I know how I share the little I have with people who under normal circumstances should be buoyant! All this whilst millions of Naira and dollars from our resources are being shared amongst a few and they tell us ..All is okay! Yeah so vote according to your convictions. Curvinus: I don't really see anything wrong in hustling to to survive. Not at all. Rather, it's our over radicalized views that make us to see most normal things that people do to survive as bad.
If your papa no get money and you really want to attend a full time university programme, what is wrong if you decide to hustle in order to raise enough money to pay your fees? As long as you take necessary precautions and you are not breaking any law, its just a job you are doing. It's a service you are rendering other people and if they like what's on offer, and are willing to pay for it, fine.
Hustling is a choice that people make in order to survive and we need to respect that and stop being ultra conservative and demonizing everything that we do not agree with. Oga. Prostitution is illegal in Nigeria. That aside I am of the opinion that university education is a choice not a compulsion and for your information it does not guarantee a 'better life'. You can better your life within the limits of the resources at your disposal by being hardworking, prudent and open to positive inspiration. This is what every parent should teach. |

That's witchcraft". The old man chased me back to school with same 2k from which I would pay back the soft loan I used in faring home and also faring back to school is from the 2k also....How much come remain??
Imagine a 2k alert that is suppose to last me 2weeks with very meagre provisions....To even buy new clothes na war and like seriously momsi thought there was a guy somewhere who should be catering for my small needs because she saw some love textmessages on my phone.
Then there was no Brazilian hair ooo but to buy the cheap synthetic hair na double wahala.
A friend and room mate of mine had it worse when I thought mine was the baddest....Her popsi gives her 2k to spend for 1month. That is exactly what we are saying. Things don't work like that in life. Your analysis is such that when what you receive cannot meet your tastes you resort to corruption. If all other girls, all other boys, your parents, all of society operated this way, society, your family will become untennable. Will it justify the new hair or wardrobe.?? |
