clip: Please note, I am not in support of amnesty for Boko Haram. But the question is, what alternative do we have as a country to solve this problem?
Let us provide alternative solution.
Contributions needed.
First an foremost granting amnesty is not an end but a tool to the end game so the statement 'amnesty as a solution' does not hold water at all. The amnesty granted the ND militants has not addressed the issues. It is the PIB amongst other attempts that hold substance.

So like many have said if there are no issues/greviances on the table (and there are none so far because it is political, targetted and time specific) then nothing can be achieved.

As to alternative solutions I have said insurgencies particularly religious fundamental ones have no military answers. What I can recommend is what is called 'waking'. Its a tactic used in anti-submarine warfare and in astronomy where near invisible objects can be identified and tracked by the effect they have on the surrounding or more visible objects.

If you want to force BH to the surface or do 'indirect' damage to the grouping in Nigeria the government has to 'hit' certain 'targets' with the right kind of 'ordinance' and you will be surprised what happens.

It works well. But note that I'm not speaking militarily at all.

Abagworo: The average price of brent crude oil throughout Abacha era was $16 per barrel with production of roughly 1.8million barrels per day. Assuming we produced nonstop for 365 days and consistently for 2.5years, our gross earnings would be 3.2trillion between 1994 and 1997 which is about 20billion dollars.
My friend can you honestly say exactly how much oil leaves the ground and is sold on a daily basis because those figures you peddle are from sources in whose interest these huge slush funds are constructed.

I can categorically tell you they are false. Events in NNPC and lately in the creeks with oil theft and by other incidents I won't mention here paints a different picture. Nigeria unofficially produces a lot more oil than that.
My only question to those very FOOLISH people that support amnesty is what about the bloods of the people blown and killed by boko haram. Not combatants. Regular citizens. Those killed in church with AK 47s, those bomb in this day bombing. Those killed in Kano bombing etc. I'm currently watching a film "Zero dark thirty" of how America went all out to capture and kill osama. Our president and our country is a serious letdown to consider amnesty to a terrorist group with unreasonable and unclear ambition. In short, our lives are worthless.
Not even that. The question we should be asking is. Which Nigerian soldier will be willing to lay down his life when his C in C is doing deals with the people ready to destroy him.

Amnesty comes after verified and sustained cessation of hostilities. And then negotiations are conducted in secret not on national news. So demoralizing.

Charlynaira: Well, Orji has just spoken his mind, but my question is this, if he advised ibos to return home, what advice has he for the hausas in the east? I suggest that he would have advised hausas in the east to leave so that his so called beloved ndi igbo would come and fill in their space. We are one Nigeria, advising any particular group to leave a place is not for the interest of this nation. What it implies is that the leaders including Orji have failed Nigerians.
One Nigeria? And who by their 'actions' not rhetoric, actions proves all too regularly that this statement belongs at 'a night of a thousand laffs'. Abeg let it be. Anyone on the receiving end has a RIGHT to express himself the way he sees fit.

Can you imagine a fundamentalist christian sect operating out of the south east perhaps supported by foreign zionists destroying mosques and slaughtering moslems for close to three years under the watch of a northern muslim president and we'ed still be having this conversation. Be realistic.

How is he a fool for saying that. If you are not welcome you leave. Or you want the alternative, stand and fight so that after the dust has settled we will have forgotten how it started ala 1966. Make up your mind whether you want strangers living amongst you or not.

If I travel to the UK on business or pleasure my security is the responsibility of the citizens of that territory. That is the way civilised people act not slaughtering foreigners at every whim out of fear and inferiority.

This statement, according to my perspective, shows that he knows the people behind the inceasant bombings, yet he let them continue. Now I know that common sense is not really common. On the other hand, @OP! Where's the link to back up your claim? Until I see a link, I will take this to be a media propaganda.
Of course he knows the people behind it but does that change the dynamic. I know and am sure you do if you care to honestly admit it. This is classic 'gangs of newyork'.

Its a power game, politicians (in broad terms) are the players, BH are the pawns and religion is the chequered board. With a tweak the board can be used for 'draughts' or mini 'snakes and ladders'. Its not hard to understand what's going on.

Of course he is crucial to the country's economy. Do the math. Your car has one engine and you're asking if its crucial to your journey. The question we should be asking is how on earth did we get here. Are we not debating on whether to give Ibrahim Shekau and his associates amnesty. Between mass murder and stealing which is worse.
Politics › Re: Corruption In Nigeria: Is It Reducing Or Increasing? by Reference(m): 7:46am On Apr 01, 2013
What do you expect. Of course it will increase as the battle for the soul of Nigeria rages with the militants in the creeks and the insurgents in the north (and more to come) until there is a power equilibrium i.e. equal access to power then the decline in corruption can begin.

You see Nigeria is like a family where there is a very wealthy dad with wifey and the kids in abject penury. The only way he's gonna hold his family together is by corruption. Trading one kid against the other, a series of settlements here and there to get his food done, his car washed, his clothes pressed. Such is Nigeria.

Since independence it has always been a series of settlements with oil blocks, contracts, federal appointments, that's where federal character comes in. That's where competence, prudence and propriety vanishes. That's where it becomes systemic, institutionalised.

That's why the ND militants were given amnesty, that's why the northern insurgents or their sponsors want the goodies too. Its all about power. And on and on.

If you can solve the power equation then corruption is disarmed. Corruption is not a person so to chase people is a waste of time. It is an institution. The biggest and most organised in Nigeria and guess what, we all support it one way or the other overtly or covertly everyday.
Christianity Etc › Re: Why Is Easter Not Really Celebrated Like Christmas? by Reference(m): 3:19pm On Mar 31, 2013
Its like some of the mainstream pentecostal churches hold their annual conventions in december with each assembly its own peculiarities. In generations to come if the lord tarries and such programs grow into institutions the same arguments will be made about them about their source and scriptural authenticity.
Christianity Etc › Re: Why Is Easter Not Really Celebrated Like Christmas? by Reference(m): 3:04pm On Mar 31, 2013
PHC4: Both feasts are scriptural! Pls read your bible and don't be misled by the ancient instructions of the Roman government. embarassed
I hope you're not speaking about Christmas and Easter because is very clear about things. In the old testaments he outlined in detailed ordinances every feast his people - the Jews were to perform.

If feasting in the new testament was as cardinal as it is today it will be clearly stated. We should not confuse one-off 'live' events with ordinances. The fact that baby Jesus was given gifts is not an ordinance. Jesus is no longer a baby, neither is he a man anymore, neither is he on the cross or in the grave. His residential address is in heaven and he speaks to you through his spirit alway.

The things he asks us to do always in remembrance of him are clear - the communion, not easter 'celebrations'.

Once more, it is not of sin if you don't know. Just make sure it doesn't become a god, a yoke unto you.
Christianity Etc › Re: Why Is Easter Not Really Celebrated Like Christmas? by Reference(m): 2:44pm On Mar 31, 2013
'Celebration' or marking of events is strange to scripture. These things were smuggled into Christianity as a by-product of whatever rituals they converted from at that time.

There is no santa claus, spruce trees, jingle bells in the bible while to carry the cross about depicting Jesus on it is technically incorrect. (they should rather be demonstrating the risen Christ).

Are these practices ungodly? To the extent that the celebrations donot become 'gods' unto themselves, no. Are the necessarx, no. Real christians celebrate Jesus everyday. With God everyday is Christmas.

iamswizz: can someone pls tell me the moral lesson of this post?
Simple. Its always about the other fellow not about me except for what I want. How far have these epistles of selfishness gone to improving society, zilch. Instead of promoting self development, inner strength and character, all they do is to corrode the fabric of humanity in the quest to find the 'perfect relationship'.

Like anti-biotics the more you take them the weaker you get and the stronger the bugs. In modern times we design houses to withstand weather, earthquakes, floods. We design cars to perform and last.

In our relationship advice we design the earthquakes to avoid and hope rain doesn't fall. Sorry. Human beings will not improve. You must be a better person to make it in any aspect of human existence.

thelastPope: It is bad that you have 3 days darkness but you should learn to address issues properly. You should learn how power works. That there is darkness in UNIPORT doesn't mean there is darkness in the whole of PH. It doesn't also mean other parts of Nigeria is not enjoying improved supply.

Sometimes you have to come together in the community where you live and find out what the problem is, then put serious pressure on the local DISCO to fix it. Your problem could be a feeder line, a broken down trasmission station or a bad transformer. That is not something you should come to NL or the presidency to tackle. You have to take the fight to the local DISCO. The president is not going to go round the country checking hundreds of thousands of transformers and feeder lines. Take your issues to the local DISCO and put pressure on them to get it sorted.
Take your fight to the local disco.

Checks topic again.

Bidam: False humility to be seen by men. He has his reward: The 2 million catholic followers.

"Take heed that you do not do your charitable deeds before men, to be seen by them. Otherwise you have no reward from your Father in heaven. Therefore, when you do a charitable deed, do not sound a trumpet before you as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory from men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. But when you do a charitable deed, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, that your charitable deed may be in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will Himself reward you openly." (NKJ)
The question is: Is the Pope doing or teaching. Because when you teach you want as much exposure as possible. When Jesus did similar I feel it was a combination of both. Remember its said 'the things he began to do and teach.'

If Pope Francis did that in his closet (and am sure he does) how will you and I learn.
Christianity Etc › Re: Pope Francis Washes Prisoners' Feet On Maundy Thursday by Reference(m): 7:55am On Mar 29, 2013
Billyonaire: The Pope washing the legs or Prisoners and kissing their sinful legs depicts the humility of Christ Jesus, we witnessed such gesture a few weeks back when GEJ pardoned Alamco.
GEJ had no spiritual authority to do that. It is righteousness that exalts a nation, the promotion of wrongdoing destroys. When Jesus forgave the condemned man on the cross it was for his sins because the man confessed them (first) and acknowledged Jesus. But guess what. He was not pardoned of the crime. By Roman law he was to die and he died.

God's law stands above any other but He respects the laws of men where there is no conflict. Alams sinned against both God and man.

Hope he has settled with God sha.
Christianity Etc › Re: Eating Meat On Good Friday! by Reference(m): 5:29pm On Mar 28, 2013
There is no where in scripture where Jesus said fast or abstain from anything in remembrance of me. These are man made laws which amount to little. You cannot get closer to God by performance. Jesus doesn't need your fasting to love you. People should stop making Jesus appear a task master that makes his children jump through hoops to reach him.

He accorded the condemned man on the cross paradise for nothing except an acknowledgement that he was the Christ. 2013 years later we are to do this and that and this and that, haba.
I ain't a catholic but we all know that the catholic church is the oldest denomination among churches. As a teenager, my mom wld serve only fish with any meal on good fridays cos it is said that "eating meat, chicken, or any fleshy meat on gd friday amounts to eating the flesh of Jesus" huh So i wanna know if there are other ppl out there that still stick to dis dogma?

As for me, don't ask me if i will eat meat or fish tomorrow..... #dazall wink
My friend read your bible again. Jesus said if you don't eat my flesh and drink my blood you have no life in you. He said do it oft. He said my flesh is meat indeed and my blood is drink indeed.

Though the real meaning, the koko of the word is different but show me where he said we should not eat meat. If we are to eat his flesh in 'remembrance' of him, what is good friday/easter, not remembrance day?

Then obviously the bible warns us about those who do not eat and forbids others from eating meat.., c'mon read man.
