in Islam, we are told to follow the law of Qur'an and the ways of the prophets and the Qur'an and prophet never engage in things which causes harm... for example, having pork is prohibited in Islam and even in Christianity because it is scientifically proven that pig meat contain certain infections which can cause the body harm... same with alcohol, because alcohol makes one unconscious, engage in irrational activities and can even kill.. you would have seen the statistic of those who loses their lives daily due to alcohol consumptions.. all things declared as haram or prohibited is because of genuine reasons..

the Muslims taking hard drugs and smoking weed or being addicted to one thing or another is in no way justify what is permissible in the Qur'an and this have been proven to damage our immune system and lead to health issues on the long run.. anything that would be harmful to us is not permissible in Islam and there's no evidence that any of the prophets engaged in this.. so it is haram... the Qur'an said we should enjoin what is good and forbid what is evil.. smoking or taking hard drugs have absolutely 0 benefits and cause many complicating health issues..

it is even said in one of the sayings of the prophet that our medicine to cure any sickness won't be embedded to what will be haram or harmful to us... I hope I've made myself clear...

lastly, if you want to know more about Islam, study Islam itself and not the Muslims.. read the Qur'an and hadiths and makes sure the hadiths doesn't contradict what the Quran says... don't study the Muslims because Muslims aren't perfect... Islam is perfect...
