There is also no place where it is written in the Bible that Jesus and his apostles went to the bathroom. Following your logic, are we also to assume that they never did just because it wasn't written in the Bible

That's not true. People do it all the time here on Nairaland and elsewhere. No one has been killed for it.

Infact, some, like "Pastor Freeze", have built an entire movement or ministry on telling Pastors they are wrong.

Don't try to put the businessmen you call pastors at par with freeze

No difference between Freeze and the pastors he criticizes.

They preach from the Bible and he preaches from the same Bible. Members are inspired and they hand out "gifts" to the pastor. Freeze condemns them for that. Freeze preaches and announces that he needs a phone and a laptop to help the ministry move to the permanent site Members honor his request and buy him "gifts" of the requested items. He accepts them rather than channelling those gifts to the poor like he always advocates in his tirades. Please explain to me how that is different from what the pastors you hate so much do.

Hi. New here but have read threads for years til now and I just have a simple question to ask . Ok, I know how dim I sound but I married my Nigerian husband 8 years ago. Next week, we apply for his permanent leave to remain here. We've been happy enough since we got married, the usual ups and downs but nothing too serious. Asked him about it and he says yes its his but its not up and running yet (like thats why I was mad at him rather than because he set ghis up without even telling me). I was looking at some photos on his site and I came across a poster laying out the days events for his fathers funeral. At the foot of the poster it says 'by [his name but different surname] on behalf of the family. Now, this new surname is the same as his fathers so I believe it to be his true name. Asked him about it and he says that his surname is different to the rest of his family because he chose to take his paternal grandfathers name. I assume his father should also bear the grandfathers name? He just keeps telling me that I don't understand Nigerian customs/traditions but now the word 'scammed' keeps popping into my head. A simple yes or no would be enough - is it usual for a man to NOT take his fathers name? Thanks in advance.

I took my father's first name as my surname after he passed while my siblings still answer the family name, which was my great-granfather's name. Some of my old documents still carry my name with my former surname though I have legal documentation to back the change of name. There are also situations where people take on the name of any of their ancestors...perhaps as a way of immortalising the person or the name. It is really no big deal.

Except you have a good reason to doubt your husband, I do not think this is enough reason to put a strain on your marriage. If it will be any help, ask him to show you a legal document that explains the change of name. If that still does not give you some comfort, perhaps you should hire a PI to help you clear your doubts.

I think the situation in Benue has degenerated badly enough for the declaration of a state of emergency as the situation is obviously beyond the power of the Governor. All he does is "mourn with the people" on a daily basis. He has now become the "Executive Mourner" of Benue State.

The actions so far taken by the FG is far below the capacity expected given the constantly degenerating state of affairs in that State. Sadly, the Senate that is supposed to ginger the President to take action is busy suspending plenary to visit "Suspect Dino" in hospital.

The President needs to wake up and take action to save lives for God sake!!!

Dencia is a single 40 year old C-list singer with no stable boyfriend nor husband.
If we go by her sermon we will conclude that she is a lovely, obedient and well behaved

Why is she then a single at 40 while the supposed men-hating feminist, Chimamanda is happily married?

It is either men don't appreciate her or she is a pretender and a horrible person to relate with.
I know the latter is more likely the case.

It is instructive to know that most of the women pouring vituperative insults on Chimamanda are single, even on facebook,
there are very few negative reactions from married women, perhaps, they know better or have nothing to prove to anyone.

These single women attacking Chimamands are sending a message which is that they are wife material and they don't
want someone to spoil their market, it doesn't necessarily mean that they would be better wives than the maligned
feminists.

Feminists are sincere women who don't have to pretend to be liked, that is, what you see is who they really are,
and their homes are much likely to be peaceful because major issue have been sort out before time.

How about the anti-feminist "wife materials"?
You will never know what you are getting from this group, she could be a misandrist or could later
hold you by your balls while demanding for a better deal or "respect", something which she was
initially against.

Ask those men suffering in their marriage and you find out that they didn't marry
feminists, they supposedly marry women who believes that the man is the head of the house, some
of them don't even call their husband by his first name and would even condemn feminism if given a chance.

I will prefer a feminist than a pretentious obedient and subservient woman any day any time.

The question is why the fuss over the order in which a woman chooses to write her bio? Is it easy being a wife, mother and grand mother? So if the woman considers those to be "more lofty" achievements for her than all of her professional accomplishments, does that in any way reduce her as someone that upholds feminist ideals?

Is there anything wrong with a feminist being a proud wife, a mother and a grandmother and counting those among her accomplishments?

Now that I think about it, the last thing that comes to mind when you think of powerful and accomplished women like Hillary Clinton, is that she is someones wife or mother.

Miracle did not "snitch". At least not in the malicious sense of the word. He just needed to be more guided when he "cleared" Nina...that's all.

No he has not been trying to dismantle a relationship. He has been looking out for his friend's interest. It is what friend's do.

Tobi has never been drawn to Nina. He relates with her because of her relation to Miracle. However, he has made it clear his loyalty is to Miracle, if it came to making a choice between both.

If I were Nina, I would be talking to Tobi and Alex to clear up whatever questions they might have about my integrity rather than making enemies of them and trying to alienate my "boyfriend" from them. If she and Miracle end up together outside the house, is that how she is going to keep making enemies and fighting off everyone that does not approve of her relationship with Miracle?

In my honest opinion, she is going about the whole thing the wrong way.

Tobi did not "badmouth" Nina.

You all forget that Miracle was instrumental to Tobi escaping Cee-C's claws after he repeatedly told him that Cee-C was ruining his game. He did that because he considered Tobi a friend and felt he needed to help his friend regain his bearing in the house. That is what friends do.

Fast forward to several weeks later and Nina is constantly giving Miracle hassles. Tobi as a friend decides to look out for his friend by advising him to play his game and ignore all the drama. Just 2 friends looking out for each other.

Miracle is the most independent minded housemate in that house. That was why he kept telling Nina that it was insulting for her to say that he was changing towards her because someone was filling his head with stuff about her." If he is changing towards Nina, then it would be his decision and not because anyone said anything about her.

The challenge isn't her anger issue but her insecurities. All of her angry manifestations flow from a place of deep insecurities. I can't help but wonder what happened to her to make her this way seeing that she comes from a privileged background and all.

The ability to accept fault and apologise is a huge attribute of maturity. Alex apologised to her even though I felt she did not have to as they were somewhat equally responsible for the drama between them.. That was an act of maturity. Cee-C was not even gracious enough to accept her apology and extend a hand of fellowship.

When she called Tobi after the strike, I thought she wanted to just say sorry. But no, she runs off on a tangent trying to guilt trip him for her misbehaviour. Tobi just walked up to her and accepted part responsibility for the sanction even though we all clearly saw he wasn't really at fault for today's drama. That is maturity.

She won't acknowledge her error; she wont apologise for anything; she has played the victim card from day 1; she is not particularly chummy with any of the other housemates...she needs to get help.

I am just glad Tobi walked away from all of that crap and returned to doing his task.
