OEPHIUS:If there's any conspiracy at all, it would be between the media and the Nigerian Government...not the APC. The APC isn't the one promulgating a war against Boko Haram. The service chiefs are soldiers and not politicians and the poor soldiers been killed at the frontline aren't members of any political party. Reducing these unfortunate calamities to the level of party politics is highly disrespectful to the troops, especially those of them who have died in the ongoing campaign against terrorism. The Federal Government under President Buhari have so far failed to do their jobs and should be called out for their failure, just like the last government was. That said, I think the media needs to ramp up its game as far as reporting the ongoing war against Boko Haram. A situation where foreign News outlets like Reuters, CNN, AP, Al Jazeera, and the likes have their correspondents embedded with the troops at the frontlines of the war, while our journalists report hearsay news from their studios in Lagos and Abuja is an aberration. The Nigerian media need to tell the stories of these valiant soldiers who daily pay the supreme sacrifice for the safety and unity of the country in such a way that they don't end up playing to the agenda of the terrorists which is to spread fear, tension and mistrust across the land. Publicity is the oxygen that terrorists need to further their agenda. Am I by this encouraging the apparent media blackout of the Boko Haram crisis? HELL NO! All I am saying is that the media needs to evolve a better way of reporting same story such that it highlights the bravery of the soldiers who stood and fought to the last despite the dearth of quality weapons supply from the government. For instance, when a Newspaper leads with a headline like "Boko Haram Overruns Military Base...Kills 100 soldiers! Others Flee!" like you will read in the average Nigerian Newspaper, it goes a long way in furthering the agenda of the terrorists. It spreads fear and impugns the courage and sacrifice of those soldiers that most likely stood and fought till the last. The ones that are left become demoralised and lose the will to continue. Sometimes, beyond the guns and other weapons of war, all a soldier has is his morale. When that is lost, ALL IS LOST! Bottomline, the Nigerian Media needs to raise its game in order to become more relevant in the scheme of things. |
So this strange handle was created in November 2018 and has only 77 followers. Yet it rolls out a poll on November 19 and gets over 10,000 responses in just 3 days? Something even "influencers" with 1 million followers can barely manage? Interesting. Kontinu! ![]()

We all know the definition of orphan. I am sure Atiku does as well. He told the world in his submission that he "grew up an orphan selling firewood on the street" to survive. On his Wikipedia page and his Autobiography, he stated his mother died in 1984, at which time he, Atiku, was heading the Customs unit at the Lagos Port, had built her a house and bought her a car. In other areas of the book, he talked about the fact that his parents weren't super rich. But they were comfortable enough to give him a sheltered and comfortable life as a growing child. If Atiku's mother died in 1984 like he claims and he was already a "big man" in the customs having had a sheltered and comfortable childhood, pray tell, when did things get so bad that he sold firewood on the streets ![]() Conclusion: Atiku LIED! |
Gaslight /ˈɡaslʌɪt/ verb gerund or present participle: gaslighting manipulate (someone) by psychological means into doubting their own sanity. "in the first episode, Karen Valentine is being gaslighted by her husband" Example: Engineerboat tried gaslighting the entire Nairaland with his generic definition of the word "Orphan". ![]() |
I don't have such a great understanding of economics but even I know that Mr. Atiku's plan will only lead to an influx of briefcase investors. They will bring in anything and everything and make stupid profits. When it all goes south as it is bound to after a while (seeing that we run a purely import based economy) they will pull out their investments and move on to the next one. |
What happened to these children is very heartbreaking and unfortunate. Coming from someone who almost suffered a similar fate as these poor children while playing hide n' Seek with my siblings and other neighborhood kids, I can almost picture what happened. I was 5 years old. We used to have this old and disused refrigerator in the garage that I hid inside and locked myself. It was those types you could only open from outside (I guess the manufacturers never envisaged a situation where a naughty boy would lock himself inside it while playing hide n' seek). Anyway, I locked myself in there and when they couldn't find me, my fellow players moved on to another round of the game without me, children that we all were. They must have assumed I ran off to play elsewhere or something. Luckily for me, my mum suddenly noticed I wasn't in the company of the other kids anymore so she asked for my whereabouts and was informed I had somehow run off to play elsewhere. This piqued my mum's interest because I was the youngest of the bunch so she launched a search for me, checking everywhere in and around the house. When she didn't find me, she raised alarm and thus commenced a neighborhood search that I learned lasted for over an hour. All this while this drama was going on, I was lying inside the refrigerator having passed out from lack of oxygen. Thankfully, a member of the search party decided to take another cursory examination of the garage that had been converted to a store for my mum's sewing machines (she was a tailor in her lifetime. God rest her soul) as well as other junk materials including this old and dead refrigerator. As providence will have it, he just decided to open the refrigerator, not really expecting to find anything inside but behold: out tumbled my inert body after about 2 hours in the cramped interior of the fridge. Well as my mum told me the story, I was rushed to the hospital after the neighborhood "Aunty Nurse" failed in her bid to revive me. Thankfully, the doctors at the hospital fared better, and that was how I was literarily snatched from the jaws of death in the nick of time. Needless to add that my siblings bore my mum's wrath with some nice floggings seeing she couldn't vent her anger on me, "the innocent victim of their foolishness" that I was. They still bear that grudge against me till this day and wont let me hear the last of it. If we are all sitting somewhere and I disappear for a minute, you will hear, "Hope that silly boy hasn't gone and locked himself inside the fridge again o!" ![]() Also, the garage was purged of all the useless junk items stashed there and the access door was firmly locked. As a parent today, I'm extremely finicky about my children's safety around the house. I can't shout abeg! |
capitalzero:If he says he possesses one and you do not have any CONCRETE proof that he doesn't, then we just have to take him at his word. Well at least, I choose to. You are within your right to believe he doesn't have one. |
capitalzero:It isn't a possibility, it is a FACT. According to the letter, President Buhari wasn't required to submit any certificates at the time because it was not a prerequisite for admission. Still doesn't negate the fact that this whole drama around the basic education credentials of a man like Buhari is an unnecessary distraction and a big waste of time. He has spent almost 4 years in office and we should be discussing his performance rather than stuff like his secondary school certificate. If he is deemed to have failed in office, it won't be because he has or does not have a secondary school certificate. President Buhari will deservedly be on the ballot next year. |
dre11:Wait! DSP Ekwerenmadu has a recording that can potentially help the police solve this issue but Dec not to make it a available to them. Then he turns around to accuse the police of inefficiency? I don't understand. |
At this slow pace, Ganduje will have wrapped up his tenure by the time they are done. |

naptu2:I don't think the governor has the power by law to withdraw the deputy governor's security. As a deputy governor, the man has a constitutional and statutory right to a security team. Okorocha needs to calm down. |
The foolish things we do when we think we are in love sometimes come back to haunt us. Very sad what this young lady is going through. I hope this fake "pastor" goes to jail for this evil act. "Revenge porn" is a crime punishable under the cybercrimes law. |
So it is "common" visa to America that is freely accessed by average Nigerians that the person of an ex-Vice President of Nigeria is so excited about? But I thought his supporters said it did not matter that he has been blacklisted by US Immigrations. Now there is rejoicing in his camp over mere speculations that the embargo may have been lifted? Una no get shame! |
18Ebiscoo:I guess for the Arewa Youths Consultative Forum, it is a simple case of " Heads, you win; Tails, you win"! If the candidate of the PDP was from another ethnic group, they would be singing a different song. It is a good time indeed to be from Arewa ![]() |
NaijaRoyalty:Did you read the part where "a crowd gathered at the foot of the billboard chanting Sai Buhari"? |
48noble:Peter Obi is a good man. But he cannot stand Osibanjo in a debate. That would be like asking Obi to face off with Fashola in a debate. Debates arent necessarily just about having points. There is also a measure of skill required to deliver eloquently and convincingly. Osinbajo is an accomplished and erudite speaker. I have seen Peter Obi on 2 separate TV shows. One with the former minister of finance, Kemi Adeosun and the other with one Professor from the University of Abuja, can't remember his name. On both occasions, Mr. Obi struggled to put his points across convincingly. He is a good administrator and business man. But I sincerely do not think debating and public speaking are his forte! |
I wasn't even aware the Federal Government had released a list of the 50 people on the list. |
SarkinYarki:Shiites do not vote in conventional elections. They are a government unto themselves and are only loyal to their local leader in Nigeria and the Ayatollah of Iran. |
Famousbabe:Does this woman still play football? Seems to me that unlike her other colleagues, she is always trending for everything else but her prowess in the game. |
Redoil:You do realise Sanwoolu is a Christian right? |
caracas:If Ambode moves over to the PDP, he won't be a "sitting governor" by the end of October. |
77up:Igbos are very industrious and hard working. Given their numbers in Lagos, you cannot discuss Lagos politics without discussing the Igbos for good or for bad. |
englishmart:How can you ascribe the choice of "10 million" voters to 1 man? Tinubu alone cannot elect the governor of Lagos. The people of Lagos can. Tinubu can choose to back a candidate. The people of lagos can say NO and back someone else. If the people choose to back the same person that Tinubu supports, is that not an expression of their choice? How is that Tinubu's fault? I think we ascribe too much power to the man. |
mybestlove:If you dismantle the Tinubu structure, another one will rise to replace it. "Nature abhors a vacuum." The nature of our politics makes room for "power blocs" and "power brokers". Tinubu has done a lot to gain the kind of influence he wields in the Southwest. He draws that influence from the people. When the people have had enough, they will retrieve their patronage and hand it to another. |

Yes we can all see that. That's why we feel sorry for you. Just keep it together. You will be alright soon. By the way, have you identified any radio mast nearby you will like to climb in protest? ![]() Orue! ![]() |
escodotman:Eiyaa...I understand. Sorry I was so hard on you. Get well soon ![]() |
escodotman:You are an imbecilic cretin for thinking you know "folks like me" cos of a couple of banters on social media. Like I said, since you claim to be more patriotic than "folks like me" please look for the closest "harmless" radio mast around you and begin to climb in the name of "peaceful protest to demand better governance". Oh and before you begin to further share your obtuse view on the kind of "bitter and frustrated" life your father is living, take a look in the mirror. There...that's "frustrating and bitter" staring right back at you. |
escodotman:In your myopic view, anyone who holds a different opinion from you has to be a "Buhari supporter." Dafuq out of here with that nonsense. If you cannot comprehend the simple fact that there is a clear difference between a "peaceful protest" and criminal endangerment of life, property, and security, I cannot help you. Why don't you go and attempt to jump off the 3rd Mainland Bridge in the name of "peaceful protest" and see how well "the constitution" will support your actions? Please I have better things to do with my time than engage in pointless banter. Have a great life. |
escodotman:Ehen! They were protesting by climbing a radio mast within the Presidential villa right? He has been charged to court. Let him go and explain to the judge how peaceful protest and climbing a mast within the Presidential villa work together. It is well. |
Timil:Where in this write-up did the man call Nigeria a "terrible" country ![]() The man clearly stated that "Nigeria is no better or no worse than any other country in the world" and then went on to state what he felt the country's main issues are. |
zoba88:Very stupid headline. "Headless lady found dead!" Please how else would a headless person be found if not dead ![]() Secondly, that is obviously an accident scene so what do you mean by "it is unclear what led to the incident"? Thirdly stop posting such gory images on social media! If you must, make sure you tag it "graphic photos" so people know to avoid it if they do not have the guts for it. |
