Nobody's romance sucks. What we try to do always is try to use a general standard for things like romance and beauty. It is not right and will never be. So far all these high IQ/intelligent folks engage in relatioships, some married etc then it is safe to say they are indeed romantic. What you and I may term not romantic may be the best romantic experience for someone somewhere. |

To the ordinary man on the street, in 2012: 1) Rice will be more expensive 2) Bread will be more expensive 3) Fuel will be freaking expensive and 4) There will be more money for the politicians to share. Every other thing na story |
Some of the response in this thread are indeed brilliant. Nice one peeps |
naijadot:This is what simple logic should tell everyone. When I saw the topic this is exactly what came to my mind. |

uchesco:they are all mtn subscribers. thats why they can harldly wait to comment on any mtn thread. if truly, they have better deals on other networks they would not bothet to show any interest on mtn threads. |
Ijogz K:You should be ashamed of yourself. You didn't want to insult anyone but you can't help but end your response with the bolded. If this attitude is what CU is all about, then I am afraid the joke is on you. You have successfully made it a bad school. |
Geds: I read all the pages before I saw your response. This is best reply to the OP so far. In his effort to make his school look good, he made people with deep thoughts realise his education in CU is a complete waste to the society. His kind of attitude shows he has nothing to offer and he definitely won't make a good leader. |
There is not a single state that does not have at least 20 public primary schools that looks like the one BEAF posted. If we are indeed sincere with ourselves and drop this attitude of it is in the North, East, West or South attitude some of us may even discover the one right in our village just looks exactly like this. The situation is indeed terrible in public primary schools. If you feel so passionate about your state as we all try to demonstrate on NL try to at least support one in your local government. BELIEVE ME THERE IS ONE THAT LOOKS LIKE THIS THERE , MAY BE WORSE. |
The states capitals I have been to in Nigeria (I have spent at least a week in all these places): Ilorin Ibadan Ikeja Lokoja Osogbo Sokoto Maiduguri Jos Benin Abeokuta Lokoja Kano Kaduna Akure Ado Ekiti Minna Asaba Bauchi Port Harcourt looking at my list, it is a close call between Lokoja and Ado Ekiti. Benin and Ilorin has no bussiness on anyones if we are indeed sincere |
logica:This so funny! |
EXERCISE BOOKS, These blank books actually shaped my life more than anyother. All I have learnt in life have been expressed on the pages of exercise books at every stage of my life. |
passyjango:Thanks so much for this wonderful reply. |
1) How To Win Friends And Influence People by Dale Carneige 2) 48 LAWS OF POWER |
trustidkid:The same Indians that slashed prices in Airtel but tried to slash slaries in Nigeria for their call centre agents and there was an uproar. If you want the same rates as they have in India, Staffs must be willing to accept similar salaries as applicable in india. Bussiness environment is also completely different. You have only looked at one side of the coin. |
I find it intriguing that everytime there is topic about MTN a lot of people respond quickly to claim MTN has ripped them off , MTN is a thieving company, bla blaa blaa. These group of people also claim to have dropped MTN line a long time ago, or they are no longer interested in using it. Funny enough, topics about other networks seems not to generate so much interest. One was about Etisalat new phone recently and it barely reached 3 pages. If these networks are the network of choice as we all claim, I expect by now that no one, will even bother to check anything about MTN not to talk of respond. All I can deduce from these internet noise makers are MTN customers that are still holding onto MTN line but want them to give freebies like other networks. The last time I checked we have MTN, Etisalat, Zoom, Starcomms, Visafone, Airtel, Multilinks; with all these other available, and the option to choose is strictly with the customer, we quickly rush to the internet to complain about PRICE of just one network. There is something they (MTN) must be doing right but we are all using the Nigerian hypocritical approach when it comes to MTN. The same way we complain about DSTV knowing fully well they are the best among all the available options. Performance of a network in different locations and at different times may vary, but best network overall in Nigeria today is MTN and we all know it |

eridah2007:GLOBETHROTHERS! |
In one scoop they arrested 920 people all confirmed to be boko haram members! We are not all fools in Nigeria. Media bullshit |
"My unreserved sympathy for those at the sharp end of forced structural adjustments. The truth though is that they face like the vast majority of us (with the obvious exception of government workers) the reality of globalisation worsened by the peculiarities of our very bad economy. However we need cheaper calls, like cheaper fuel, cheaper rents, etc and someone quite frankly has to pay for it. Secondly, there is a prevailing misconception about the involvement of foreigners in economic activities via investments as those which bring sophisticated, overpaid jobs alone sometimes with conditions prevalent in the country of origin. Far from it because business considerations are governed 100% by cost and profit considerations. I think the extractive industry has caused this and we know why they pay out of sync with the local economy. One, their products are 100% exported at a price no one can control, two the guilt factor, knowing it is a natural resource. This skewed system has dulled our senses to the twin reasons why I for one would take my hard earned money abroad - an expansive and expensive market and two, cheap and sophisticated labour. Yes, Asia dominates world manufacturing today simply because they undercut western wages. Apple was accused yesterday of turning a blind eye to child labour practices among its suppliers and just today Nokia is tossing 3,500 jobs and shifting production from low cost Romania to lower cost China, yet no one perceives them as evil. Airtel has every right to restructure its costs to survive and thrive. Anyway in present day Nigeria 240k for call centre job, haba. How much do air traffic controllers earn, how about engineers or junior doctors. Its unbelievably skewed. Thus no thanks to Asians the aura and era of jackpot telecoms is fast fading for a more balanced reality. " The quote above was made by a NL REFERENCE on a thread related to this( Airtel reduces workers salary by 60%) He clearly understand what is going on |
pkv:If they pack out, the new entrant will come and implement the same 30k you sent Airtel out for. Bussiness decision is made based on where the bussiness is heading not what has happened in the past. This is the reality in the telecoms sector. Protest and shouting on internet is not the solution to the problem. |
It is sad things have to come down to this. I continue to state the fact that Telecoms operators are the ones that continue to reduce tariffs due to competiton without any visible sign that the operating environment in Nigeria has changed. In fact the cost of operation has consistently gone up. Technology is also evolving at a very fast rate in the industry so the need to consistently change or upgrade their equipment. The obvious one POWER translating to DIESEL is also there. We should all forget what we hear about them making profits, the profit margings are down seriously and most of them are looking for ways to keep the bussiness running profitably. If you are an engineer in these companies you will agree that HUAWEI and ZTE products are now dominating while Erricson, Alcatel and Siemens are seriously losing market due to this simple reason of cutting costs( chinese products are cheaper). The OP lied about GLO paying customer care agents 200k, I can tell you that all the operators are running there bussiness in Nigeria using similar bussiness models. Outsourcing is the current trend now. MTN and GLO have not implementd it yet but I can confidently tell anyone on this forum that very soon they will follow suit. I know people and have friends that work for all the major operators in Nigeria and the story is similar, Even Etisalat that came with mouth watering offers in terms of renumeration have calmed down. It is Airtel today, but it will be MTN and GLO tomorrow. Etisalat is already using the managed services model since they started. Once again it is sad that people have lost their jobs but a wholistic approach to solving this problem is for government to help out. Power issue should be resolved quickly and NITEL and MTEL must work for this to stop, SIMPLE. |
I am suprised and disappointed in those saying why will a muslim go to a christian school? It goes to show we are not better than those we call religious bigots |
fork adict:i am only stating the obvious. you should read the article again not me. if a company is doing so well, why is there a need to slash staff salaries? my brother the main factor here is the bussiness cant sustain these staffs slaries and the bussiness has to do something. forget all the cars and food stuffs. i will pay one million naira per month to a receptionist if the bussiness is profitable that way. i hope you know it is not only airtel that will do this, mtn, glo and etisalat will soon follow suit. i am not happy with this development but this is a reality will all have to accept. |
This is what happens when an operator comes into a market and the first thing they did iwas to slash tarrifs. Good move but is it sustainable for the bussiness? All other operators will soon adopt this model because telecoms is a game of numbers. Do what you have to do to make sure you hold unto or snatch customers from other operators. Whenever there is a sudden price slash without significant improvement in the operating environment, some people have to pay. This time it is the staffs. The bussiness need to survive. |
The poster made a very important observation in his first paragraph. The first five people responded exactly the way he claimed most nairaland replies are. Some have even insulted him which he has also claimed is common on nairaland. I don't need anyother proof to know his story about Nigerian girls is true as well. |
@Pendo89 You are indeed blessed and Almighty God will continue to add more power of reasoning to that wonderful mind of yours. All your replies to this topic are so on point. You are on course to living a very happy and fufilled life. Cheers |
