All those against this banking system should cover their faces in shame. Haknai took his time to explain the basic concepts of how it works but all you see is religion. We are in real trouble in this country if people that claim to have an education only see issues through the lens of religion , race or tribe. What I expect from true christians that are objective is to ask if this better economically and how other banks should be compelled to bank this way if actually it is better than the current system we are running. They can give it any name they want afterwards if they are not confortable with the word ISLAM. |

sirabbey: rman, your bread is certainly buttered by Empty Net (MTN) at the moment, so i understand your sentiments and PR salvage crusade, but stop defending the indefensible. your posts insults the intelligences of your esteemed customers ( that is if we are esteemed indeed by Empty Net.) If i were you i will be worried stiff that your customers hold this view about your company and will stay invisible behind my computer screen gathering informations needed to marshall a change in company policies or at least direct the attention of policies maker to this page rather than worsening the situation with your poorly thought out responses. Agreed some of the comments here are to the extreme to say the least (i.e someone saying he hate south Africa becos of Empty Net reputation.) but not everyone has mastered the ability of managing his anger.
I am another one of your victimised/ripped off esteemed customer waiting to sign off your Empty Net.
sorry i typed in red. Thanks for your response. You are right about taking note of what your customers feel about the service a company renders. A lot of companies have gone done by not responding to market forces or not getting the proper feedback from customers. I am not trying to insult anyone's intelligence that is why I said we can all learn a lot through this thread. Anyway MTN has responded to changes in prices due to competion appropriately over time and surely they don't want to be left behind as a market leader. Calling a company 419 and rip off is languages I dont understand when we all are stakeholders in the same telecom sectors. |

madprof: I think there's too much unnecessary fuss about MTN's tariffs on this thread. You shouldn't expend a lot of energy complaining about MTN. Not when there are several alternatives out there. The irony is that most of the people complaining DO have MTN lines, so why are they still using those lines? Don't get me wrong - I'm not defending MTN - but it is a matter of personal choice which network(s) you decide to use. When it comes to total service quality, other networks over time have not performed much better than MTN either. Every one of them is defficient in one way or another in total service quality and product offering. Take for instance Airtel says they give 20 free SMS monthly with their 20k/s call plan, yet they always charge for texts I send; why? Those other smaller networks(visafone, starcomms, etc) can't even compare because they don't have robust value added services. In today's telecomms market you can't survive without value added services. MTN's internet service is about the most reliable among all the networks. Again, I'm not supporting MTN, but overall the other networks aren't doing or offering much better services. What we need to advocate for is all-round better services and cheaper call rates from network operators rather than attacking MTN. Even at Airtel's 20k/s Nigerians still pay among the highest phone tariffs in the world; that has got to stop. Think about it: if MTN were really worse than other networks they wouldn't still be in business would they? The best way to attack MTN is to totally boycott their services - how many people can realistically do that? In any case MTN is a rip-off because NCC has allowed it.
Thanks for being objective. Some of the point I try to pass across is there in your reply. Why attack a company that did not force you to buy their product? Why do we call them a rip off if the so call alternative's that is great is easily accesible? NCC did not force the others to reduce their tarriffs , competition is the sole reason why they did. MTN is well aware of the market in which they operate and they know that any service provider that charges three times what the competition does for the same service may well be out of business in a matter of time. MTN will soon reduce their tarriffs but when they do, the same set of people lamenting now will be the first set to come out and say calls should be made free by MTN because they are from South Africa. Network quality issue is been faced by all the operator. If NCC carries out their quarterly quality checks across the country and a particular service provider always come out tops , why sanction them? Competitive pricing is good for customers but for proper competition to be in place for serious competition is to ask yourself, why mtn is still in business why all logical explanation points towards the fact that they should be out off business. SIM cards cost just #150. |

Now according to economics of scale are they not meant to be d network with more value offering? Why cant they refine d magic no stuff and put a peg on d no of hours u can talk to a friend per day, say 2hrs max. Why is it so double expensive using an mtn to call an mtn, at N30/min, while i can use a glo infinito line to call same mtn at N15/min. Which makes more sense?dont they have d same challenges? If mtn makes on net calls 5 naira today what do you think their competitors will do? They will try to bring theirs down also or close shop. We definately be faced with MONOPOLY of market which is not good for the gsm market. Having largest subscriber and stuff does not mean they should just come out and make theirs cheaper. Your seugestion concerning magic number is very good and it is possible. But if I tell you I want my product to be free 24/7 with just a token access fee and just put restrictions on it like you suggested without doing proper market research again won't be a good for a market leader. |

ogasir2011: From your explanation it is either you are a rookie, just naive about MTN operations, or completely brainwashed by MTN in your regular trainings. MTN is the greatest RIP off Company ever known to Man.
In 2008 Benin Republic Suspended MTN operations in the Country because of unfriendly and ripping tariff to thier citizen, it took the intervention of Thabo Mbeki(Then President ) to prevail upon the Govt, before MTN could Operate again, with a condition that they will repect themselve and charge reasonable rates. In Nigeria our Govt are enjoying how they are cheating Nigerians.
It is cheaper to use other networks to call MTN, than to use MTN to call MTN. And you come hear to talk trash defending MTN.
People subscribe for internet service and they cant use it, Moneies are never refunded.
pls dont mention NITEL in comparism with the ripp off that MTN is doing, without MTN GSM would still exist in Nigeria.
You claim that MTN was planing to Introduce Per sec billing, i want to tell you that you are a Big LIAR. MTN told us that Per sec billing was not possible till 2007. Glo started operation in 2005 and began with per sec. in sept 2005 MTN also began per sec billing so tell me why did not wait till 2007 to begin. M
MY friend it does not cost nothing to begin Per sec billing as you claim it will cost money. Per sec billing has been a feature of GSM Billing software since the 1990s and the software MTN were using since 2001 has per sec billing- so u see what i mean u have bin brain washed?
I discourage pple everyday from using MTN, and i urge everyone to do the same.
MTN has the slimest profit margin amongs the all network, thier distributors dont make much compared other network. they are also ripping off the distributors.
they are also ripping off graduates, call center agents Earn the lowest in the industry- Ripp OFF
they are less nigerian amongts the middle class, top executive - nigerians do the dirty Job in the company while thier south african eat the fatest salary- ripp off rman: Coverage issue is a totaly different issue. The fact that you don't have mtn network may mean their coverage is not there at all or their base station is down. I am baffled the two reasons I gave still does not qualify as steatling in my opinion.

@OP
The Nigerian Telecoms market is a competitive market , no one is ripping you off. If you are not satisfied with the quality of service in your area from mtn it is so unfortunate. A lot of factors not known to you could be responsible. MTN is constantly working round the clock to make the quality of service top notch. And based on the survey carried out early this year putting into consideration parameters like availability of the network, call success rate (CSSR) , call drop, congestion etc . MTN still has the best network in the country. The promo and cheaper calls by competitors is to attract more subscribers and have more on net calls that's all. They are still interested in making profit like MTN. Giving money to individuals isn't MTN'S way of rewarding customers. Find out about MTN community projects in your area, they are indeed doing a lot. Magic number is a product we introduced but was really abused by customers. MTN has its own fault too. When we introduced magic number we are intrested in letting people call just one number for free for a whole month but the traffic(Erlang) on the network became so much in weeks that our network became congested 24/7. Nigerians love to talk but when a call runs into hours between two individuals and people having FOUR IN ONE PHONES all with MTN line, we had to suspend this product until the network is ready to sustain such long hour calls that prevents other subscribers from clamping onto the network. It is amazing how Nigerians easily forgot that eleven years ago, NITEL was the only operator and Nigerians were going through hell to communicate. If we all remember M-tel actually offered the cheapest calls immediately they took off but it was not sustainable then and we all know what happened to m-tel just a few years later. In fact dstv a SA company Nigerians refer to as a rip off too is the only pay tv that actually has more Nigerian content even when they didn't have the premiership. We all also know that they also have the best quality in terms off pictures and content. That is why dstv is still here and the same reason is why mtn is still growing. If you offer cheap services that is not sustainable in the long run that is not a good business strategy. It is better for prices to come down as market forces and other variables dictate. Before I forget the per second billing issue. MTN launched their network in Nigeria with per minute billing, in a few months customers asked for per second billing. In fact they were already working on changing their entire billing system within a short while (which will cost money) of launching their network before GLO came out with per second billing. I hope we all know that competitors monitor one another and study the market. GLO coming out first with per second billing is just a company that did her home work well before coming out. All GSM companies are trying to make profit and calling one a rip off or slandering one isn't the way to go. WHAT YOU EXPERIENCED AS POOR QUALITY OF SERVICE FROM ONE VENDOR IS BEING EXPERIENCED BY A SUBSCRIBER ON THE OTHER NETWORK YOU ARE PLANNING TO MIGRATE TO. |

Politics › Re: Saraki The God Father Of Kwara State Politics Secrete Agenda Exposed by rman: 6:23pm On Apr 28, 2011 |
bilms: Dr Olusola Saraki,The godfather of Kwara state politics secrete agenda exposed.
After proclaiming his daughter Gbemisola Saraki as his next candidate for the governorship election that will be holding in 2011.
The proclamation has generated alot of controversies and after much consideration, i was able to make the following analysis.
From what we have seen, Olusola saraki is not ready to do the wish of the poeple.
And If Sarak insisted that his female daughter Gbemisola saraki remain his candidate, i.e going against his people in kwara (alfa), it might result into a riot because from all indications, the alfa are ready to fight against this action and gbemisola is indeed ready for the challenge.
The reaction of the current Governor to the situation,
From what we have seen, The current Governor Bukola Saraki has turn is back on his Father and has really demonstrated to the people publicly that he will do the wish of the people. by not making his sister his successor.
The secrete agenda
I sense some conspiracy here, because from my understanding of this situation, I believe The godfather Olusola saraki is willing to continue is dominance on the people of kwara state by transferring the godfather-ism to his son ( the current Governor Bukola saraki).
both of them try to create this confusion for easy transfer of power.
The people of kwara are determined to serve Olusola Saraki to death, but he wants his dominance to extend beyond him alone, but to his generation on born. So he decided to create a scenario that will enable his son to demonstrate to the people that he his equally capable of leading the state.
The scene
Olusola saraki named his daughter Gbemi Saraki as his next Governorship candidate and his son Bukola Sarki is opposing his father publicly. This scene will result to contention between father and the son because from all indications, Governor bukola saraki will nominate his own Governorship candidate that will contest with that of his father.
Because the people dislike the candidate of the Father, they will go for the son's candidate and this will mean that Governor Bukola nominated a candidate and he won.
now
he will be seen as the next godfather and people of kwara will embrace him for going against his father in the first place,
but all the scene is a setup between them, or what do u think? All BIMS said in his post is exactly what i tried explaining to a friend of mine after the results were anounced. Kwara is in serious bondage because father has successfuly installed his son as the new godfather of kwara politics. I still can not believe people fell for the father and son fued bullshit. The current kwara state governor is installed by Bukola , THAT IS THE SIMPLE AND ABSOLUTE TRUTH!. Bukola is still young, so kwaran's will still have him around for a very long time. Saraki senior is actually the smartest politician in Nigeria today. Others use violence , he simply played on a whole generations intelligence and now maybe two generations. Gbemi will continue to be politically relevant, ministerial appointments etc Has it occured to all that Gbemi came third in the election? The father knows she has no chance right from the start. She has just been used to make BUKKY the new godfather |

But doesn't the gal have an obligation to build some trust ? A lady that truly cares about you will definitely try to spend time with you. It is obvious you care about her and you are also willing to meet her parents while she always give you excuses. If you have made the promise of giving her the money please do without issuing any ultimatum. What I will now suggest is suspend further financial assistance after this. She should go to her DAD. What you need to do is to observe her over the next few months. Do you know when she is free from work or school or whatever? Give her a call few days during this free time but don't ask how she is spending it. If she never made plans on her own to spend part or whole of this free time with you, then I guess she isn't taking you serious. If she does, make sure that no financial reward or financially related problem will be solved before, during and immediately after visit. Be ready to move on if you observe she is not all that into you. This further justifies the suspicion which many held about him when he was hand-picked to deputize over a three-quarter dead dead man by OBJ. The plan worked quite alright, now we are seeing the truth prevailing. Ask yourself people; why is Anenih (and so many dead woods like him), a celebrated suspected thief of PDP extraction still FIXing for GEJ? Why is GEJ still negotiating with near-irrelevant northern politicians like A-thief-KU and CHEat-ROMA? How come GEJ all of sudden is praise-singing the much spoken about International Big Barawo? I served in the south-west and used to visit lagos where a graduate being an area boy is to make ends meet, where u see graduates holding first class or second class upper as agberos in motor parks or some other unthinkable job which does not befit their credentials. I have had to do business traveling to the east and have seen how energetic, innovative youths engage in unpleasant practices just to earn a living. Common people, the problems are same ALL over Nigeria. You want proof? People die in accidents all over Nigeria due to bad roads. Malaria is still a killer in about all states. Unemployed youths are everywhere. Armed robbery is common place all over Nigeria! white elephant projects of government both at federal, state and local government levels are spread all over. If you think your state is worse, try going to another and you would be surprised. Listen, we are all victims, none of us is happy! That time, we would have no choice and surely it will take more casualties. Lets do it now, it will be very peaceful and very, very rewarding! lma: As much as I agree wit all the critics as par high traiff, wiring all the profits back to SA and all the likes but have we ever sat down to analyse the so called MTN as a business identity.
i. how many of the so-called nigerian companies is providing business opportunities for nigerian banks as much as mtn in terms of interest from loans and amount of deposit, remember how banks are jostling to be part of one the largest syndicate loan in Africa to a business organisation? instead we prefer to approach Chase Manhatan as wetin be the name and d likes for funds and keep it in our family bank.
ii. Why are the so-called nigerian companies not wise enough to raise such funds to build the largest network spaning from cities to hinterlands providing opportunities for everybody to be able to communicate no matter how epiletic the service might be.
iii. How savvy is these nigerian companies in business management to be able to source for funds, build the infrastructure, set margins for profit, employ and empower some of the best hands who are nigerians, manage them well with little or no favouritism and see the benjamins rolling in.
iv. Have you ever wonder what kind of business man will always rush and reduce the charges of his services based on competitor's (who must have done a prudent analysis base on their margins) reducing its own.
v. Where are the G, foundation, Econe./Vodac, /Vmob, /celt, /Za, /Air, foundation, Mte. foundation, just take time to see what MTN foundation has done/doing/will do.
Vi. Is GLO and others more nigerian dan MTN; what is the ratio of foreigners-to-nigerians working in these companies and occupying managerial positions in both companies; how many nigerians has shares in GLO n others meanwhile 24% of MTN is ownered by nigerians including ordinary employees.
vii. Yéllo, have you ever wonder how an employee earning the same amount as salary over the past five years without hope of increment will contribute meaningfully to the well being of its organisation compare to one who knows that his package will be reviewed up at a specific time and day every year with the fact that the more d company makes d more his/her bonus largess and the increment
viii. Above all, who says these nigerian companies are not making that much but are we transparent and honest enuf to declare our profit as the sacrificial lamb does year in year out.
Please, dont mind me oh but I feel we sud think a little deeper, tomorrow when you own a business with a market advantage, try and crash your charges overnite to match a new industry entrant out with low market penetration charges with demographic segmented market target and see how fast u will start conducting census for bridges in Lagos to your village.
Abi you think say after many years as second class citizens in their own land, dem go dey mess up like we nigerians!!!
Plenty angles to this matter but I dey remove for now.
Yala bye.
One more thing, Southy people no dey too go school ooo like us but they are here raking all the buck, guyz will need to sit up and face reality. If I may add, the profits may look outrageous but we all are looking at MTN because of the service they render,Telecomunicatios, which most people have redused to talk alone. The business of telecomunication is more than that and I have stated earlier that MTN competiors approaching the market by competing through price alone will soon go out of business. MTN have painstakingliny built the largets network in Nigeria and others will have to seriously invest in infastructure to catch up, not by price reduction to entice people, when you dont even have the coverage to compete. They also offer the best working conditions and if you are an insider you will know what happened to a lot of people at Airtel when Bharti took over. MTN has realy touched a lot of lives and none of the telecomunication company's have made the kind of positive impact they have made on the Nigerian economy. |

If you don't really understand what is going on in the state why criticize its people?
Until people understand that Kwara state does not automatically mean Ilroin, hence don't generalise. Ilorin is the state capital and the average Ilorin indigene is lazy. That's why they are mostly drivers etc. The other towns/tribes have not really come together to reduce the domination of Ilorin indigenes from Kwara politics. Dr Saraki is really a disgrace to Kwara state , but this is exactly what happens when you allow poverty to reign and you made sure the people are not educated.
Late Mohammad Lawal tried his best to break this jinx but he made a serious blunder by turning against civil servants in a state without industries.
Truth be told , Bukola is a breath of fresh air, and I can confidently say, he ranks high up there among the PDP governors in terms of performance. But it is totally unacceptable, for Dr Saraki to bring Bukola's sister to be the next governor of the state. |

@Harakiri
Your level of IQ is way higher than some of the posters on this thread. You reason logically and not all men has that gift. The ones that do understands you. You are a realist and and you will surely go through life way happier than most of your critics on this thread. Politics, Religion etc are areas where you will readily have people defending issues without facts.
Keep it up bro! |
Romance › Re: She Gives Me Conditions Before We Can Date. by rman: 8:39pm On Mar 07, 2011 |
@OP
I see her request in a different way from others.
She is just being real. Most of us conciously or subconciously have expectations that must be met before qwe committ. Goodlooks, money, sex , security, level of education are all requirements we look out for in our potential parteners. If we all let our potential partners know our expectations before we comitt, no one we feel short changed later. In fact all the post about ladies being gold diggers and guys only asking for sex will be laid to rest if we all state clearly what we expect from a potential partner. I also expect people to understand that we all have different expectations from our partners so no one has a right to criticize others.
I see her as being real and matured |
Politics › Re: 7 Reasons Buhari/bakare Will Lose The Elections Despite Growing Popularity! by rman: 5:29pm On Feb 27, 2011 |
I am quite surprised that all GEJ supporters are harping on are sentiments. He is from the south south, he is a christian, he is gentle, Buhari is an ex military man, Buhari will introduce sharia etc
They have all failed to see the obvious fact that GEJ is been presented to us using the same sentiments that brought Yaradua to power. The OBJ's, Annenih, Bode Gorge, Ciroma are still the same set of people that gave us Yaradua, now it is GEJ. If out of the all the governors, Akala and Daniel are your pals and all the criminals are welcome so far they are on your train. Then something is seriously wrong with such a candidate. And for those claiming he should get the mandate first then he will change( You are just been delusional, he won't)
CPC's supporters are not supporting this group based on sentiments. What we should be talking about as Nigerians is among all the candidates, based on the challenges facing the country. which aspirant is best suited to move the nation forward?
If after searching your heart truthfully and the answer is BB and you still go ahead to vote GEJ because of crowd mentality, religion, money, zone etc Then you are as terrible as the looters that stole billions that we all claim ruined the country.
Yes there can be a revolution in Nigeria. In fact a peaceful one can take place by voting wisely in a few weeks |

@OP Try fumigating the house. A few professionals do this for a fee. You won't feel comfortable in the house for a few weeks because you Will be picking dead dry rats all over. Fumigation works! |

Guyman02: The average rat in my former neighbourhood became so bold that they join us in the parlour to watch super eagles match. Walahi, fear don comot for their body kpatakpata.
We bought traps, but it never catches them, they would go behind the trap and eat the fish bait, piss on the trap and walk away. One day we ran out of fish bait and tried to deceive them by putting the picture of a fish on the trap, but when I came to check the trap in the morning to see if it has caught any rat, I saw the picture of a rat on top of the trap; Bros, i just pack my things, hire pickup van and ran from that area. So Lagosians are monarchical in their thinking too? Wake up asha 80: i hope you know that those parts of nigeria that do these things are monarchical in their thinking hence they do not particularly see any problem with those arrangements? |
Politics › Re: Breaking News : Governorship Candidate Shot Dead. by rman: 8:40am On Jan 30, 2011 |
It is happening in Kwara, Borno, Lagos and soon everywhere!
KWARA: Father is the political leader, son is governor, sister is in the senate, and guess what, eight years later, the best a whole state can come up with is to switch from brother to sister(governor). That is what is in the making and may likely happen
LAGOS: Husband is the party leader, wife goes to the house of assembly, inlaws and cousins are also there. Family affair.
BORNO: Husband will go back to senate( after being the senator and governor for twelve years), brother becomes governor and wife goes to the house of reps. Another family affair.
The Obansanjo's, even Bankole are also examples of family affair politics been practised in Nigeria.
And most ignorant Nigerians fail to see our decmocarcy as Nigerians colonising Nigerians gradually. Some really dump ones give examples of the Kennedy's and co in the US. They fail to understand that with no results to show for your tenure you are politically dead in the US. Even sex scandals can get you out of office in a jiffy. My problem with all these set up is this; why do we have learned men/women still hanging around and doing ''ranka dede'' for all these men that ensalving them and their own unborn kidds. A poor, uneducated man may be excused.
We all need to wake up and tell oureselves the truth. Nigeria, as a nation, is on a path to destruction quickly and there is no way back if we don't understand te fact that the same set of people that caused the problem are the ones we are looking up to, to provide solutions. PATHETHIC! |
Romance › Re: Guys Who Still Carry Bags, Open Doors For Der Girls: Are Fools?true Or False? by rman: 6:55pm On Jan 26, 2011 |
I am shocked at the number of girls claiming it is a gentle man that carries bags and stuffs. Why leave home with a bag you don't want to carry yourself? And who was carrying your handbag before you had a boyfriend? Women claim miss independent and stuff but will be glad to have a boyfriend that opens car doors and carry handbags. True care isn't measured by all this and I can tell you it is the TRUE PLAYERS that does all that.
A few men on this thread have given cogent reasons why they may hold a ladies bag for a while or open car doors for her. If your man does all this for you all the time instinctively, you are in control of the relationship and will definitely lose him when he gets his acts together.
Common lets get real. Men don't like to carry bags, open car doors and do the laundry(ladies wears). |
Phones › Re: What The Hell Is MTN PayGo? by rman: 8:11am On Jan 22, 2011 |
Nigerian's are so ignorant These new plans are actually cheaper and better than the old one and people are complaining why are they being migrated. There is a corresponding new plan for and old plan eg XTRACONNECT IS NOW PAYGO,
If they have responded to competition isn't that better for you as a customer? What most people don't know is that if they continue to reduce prices, the first set of company to go out of bussiness will be your beloved Etisalat and co. Mind you there is a level at which prices can no longer be reduced because everyone is here to make profit in a bussiness environment that is not so friendly. Talk is not cheap in a country where all sites and switches are being powered 24/7 by gens. Mind you they still contend with vandals alsmost on a daily basis(these factors affect all operators)
The major reason why others reduce tariff first is just to get people to migratate to their network, so as to get more on net calls and pay less interconnect rate to a competitor. If you have anyone at all that understands the bussiness, they will actually let you know that MTN has the best network in Nigeria( in terms of capacity, quality and coverage). And their prices are also competitive.
Etisalat, Airtel, GLO and MTN are all doing the same thing, trying to make profit. We should also kgve kudos to companies that reduce tariff almost on a yearly basis without any significant improvement in the business environment in which they operate. Deep down, I know Nigerian's don't like to pay for services and they wouldn't mind running them down so they can go the way of NITEL, then we can all go back to the era of phone for the rich.
For me what MTN has done is comendable. |

Romance › Re: Why Do Some Girls Think Guys Are Fools?or Am I Wrong?pls Let Me No by rman: 7:05am On Jan 06, 2011 |
Everyone is calling him a fool now If this same guy changes, the girls will start calling him a bad boy.
He took a chance by being nice and giving out gifts, that does not make him a fool.
The girl should have used the same attitude she is using now to reject the phone instead of collecting it.
If you are not interested in a man, why collect his gifts and immediately turn your back?

@ OP Can't you see how shallow your reasons are? If you don't get this mentality of going into a relationship thinking you are doing your partner a favor, you will end up been disappointed. You are not doing anyone a favor, infact girls like you are liabilities and don't deserve a partner.
