Mehn. This guy impacted my life so much.

Only corn flakes that me and my sisters can stand is Nasco.

We buy two cereals in my house cause I love Nasco, hubby can't stand it.

I remember when we bought Kellogg's corn flakes for my youngest sister to take to school thinking we were forming posh.

This girl got to school and traded her one Kellogg's for two Nasco Corn flakes.

From their soap to their cereal and biscuits.

The man definitely made an impact in many lives.

May his soul rest in peace.

Correct!. But thinking about it now, of all oruko-amut'orunwas, Abiona seems to be the least common. In fact, to the best of my memory, I've never heard anyone being called by that name. Have you?
Nah. I learned from Yoruba class in secondary school that people born on the road are called Abiona.

amrichy:
While I also don't have much faith in the Yoruba nation (because of corruption factor, which is the major cause of our numerous problems), I think its formation might make things a little better than what we are presently experiencing in Nigeria. The following are a few of my reasons:
1. As Yoruba nation will be relatively small (compared to the present overpopulated Nigeria), governance will also be easier. (It's always easier to manage a smaller entity than a bigger one!)
2. The splitting up of Nigeria into different nations will invariably bring about some sort of "healthy" competition among the new nations as each will try to outperform the others, thereby putting the respective leaders of the nations under great pressure to perform to their very best. This would ultimately lead to development in different areas (infrastructure, economy, education, job creation, health etc)
3. The people will be much more united (as they now belong to the same tribe or at least very close tribes) and their patriotism will increase (as it will be easier for them to see the Nation as their fatherland). This stronger unity and increased patriotism should help the growth and development of the nation.
4. In line with point 1, the smaller Yoruba nation will also be easier to secure. Terrorism and banditry will certainly not be part of our society (they are things of the north). Fulani herdsmen palava will be over and kidnapping will greatly reduce.

It is really my wish that all the regions in Nigeria can coexist peacefully and work together to make the country great, but I'm not sure that's ever going to be realized considering our past together and the present situation of things. It seems like it can only get worse. If after about 107 years of almagamation and almost 61 years of gaining Independence together, we still are not so united, it's not a bad idea to try going our different ways.
But as you have expressed, I'm afraid nothing much will change if we do not first exterminate the cankerworm called corruption and know how to hold our leaders accountable for their misdeeds.
Thank you for seeing my point.

Don’t be daft.

Your inability to hold elected officials accountable right now is because of the law of the land and the system that has brutalized with people with the military. A good example is how the End SARS protests ended.

In a Yoruba nation and a civilized one, laws are going to be different.
You needed to insult me to make your point and you're talking about civility.

Bye.

your last paragraph shows how much u might be missing the point. See, those so called leaders withing yoruba land are scared of the future because they know a new Yoruba nation would NEVER tolerate the kind of system that brought the likes of most of them up
I don't think so.

As it is, we aren't even holding our governors and lawmakers accountable to us as educated as we claim to be.

One chance will strip you of all your valuables and push you out of their car.

Kidnappers will keep you for days and demand ransom. Most times, huge amounts that even if they sell your family, Una no go fit get the money. Kidnappers will keep you in fear, throw your family into anguish.

I wish Yoruba Nation will solve our problems but we have deeper problems than we think.

The betterment of Yoruba Nation starts with our state governors and state assemblies.

How well are the Yoruba governor's doing?

Are they not as corrupt as governors of other states?

What have they done in their current term to show you that we are ready for the betterment of the Yoruba people.

If we get the Yoruba Nation we are clamouring for, what's the guarantee that we are not going to keep recycling the same yeye leaders who are only interested in their own pockets.

I am still amazed as to why a top General in the place of Chief of Army Staff should be flying in a old small turbo prop beechcraft 350 aircraft manufactured in the 70s. Is it that there re no modern aircrafts in NAF or NA fleet??

If the accident was indeed weather related, modern aircrafts wouldn't have just gone down like that..
Is it not the same generals that divert monies meant for arms and vessels?

Don't give birth to children you can't comfortably take care of, give options in life, and leave a good inheritance for. People who give birth in poor, abject conditions have no conscience.
This is the best comment.

Give birth to the number of kids you can take care of comfortably so you can also live a comfortable life.

That way, you won't make your children your retirement plan.

Teach your children contentment. It pays a lot. Instil on them good morals.

I observe that some girls that do runs in school aren't from poor backgrounds.

I knew of two whose parents lived in their personal homes in Garki and Wuse but these girls still dey do runs.

Not only Ikoyi, any Federal Marriage Registry will do.

Just make sure it's not a local government registry but a Federal one.

They are the Federal Marriage Registries in Ikoyi, Lagos State; Abuja, Federal Capital Territory; Benin, Edo State; Owerri, Imo State; Port Harcourt, Rivers State; Kano, Kano State; Jos, Plateau State, Enugu, Enugu; Kaduna, Kaduna; Ibadan, Oyo State; Ikeja, Lagos State, and Makurdi, Benue State.

It's not just about controlling what a child sees but educating them on the consequences of certain actions, at 13 I wasn't given a phone but a laptop and it was configured to block certain websites and ads but before hand I was educated on sex education and the consequences of premature sex by my dad. The problem is most parents trying to police what their children see, so they go learn it in the net or from friends at school.
Parents can only do their best. Children have access to smart phones now and follow all the celebs they like.

Imagine your 16 year old following Naira Marley and stumbling on a post like this.

And we know how they can easily get influenced at that age, especially by people they look up to.

Responsible parents will guard their teens against the evils of social media..... His tweet didn't promote pedophilia or rape, simply consensual sex between a mother and daughter.....I think you should channel this energy to your politicians marrying under aged kids.
I channel the same energy to child marriage and child abuse.

At 16, could your parents control your internet access?

Oga, sexual perversion had been here before today, even in ancient time.

King Solomon married how many wives and possessed how many concubines again?

Was King David different?

Even Mohamed fvcked a 9-year old girl.

All the people I mentioned above, are they in this generation?

Many of you just open your mouth wide to talk trash without proper reasoning.
No. We reason differently and that's what sets us far apart.
