A certain guy keeps changing his numbers to chat me up. I counted about 5 or so. Each time I know it's him, I block his ass. He will still call, I know he will. I don't know how he got the number in the first place and I politely told him I'm married but that won't deter him.

As for OP, if you are not comfortable with it tell her to stop. How he got her number matters too.

To be honest - Everyone is at fault.
There was obviously some deep seated hatred between the wife and mother-inlaw which peaked during this incident which the husband would have known about.
My mother-in-law always seat in the back, unless I am specifically driving her somewhere without her daughter. But if for some reason, she seats in the front, it is rude to demand that she move. That is something you discuss with her husband in private.
Why I rebuke the hubby is that you leave your parents behind and cleave to your wife and you are both one. Your loyalty is to your wife - your family.
The parents of the husband are liken to the wife's parents - would she ask .....no demand that her own mother change seats. ?

For some women, it is so much of a big deal that they will take exception if their mother-in-law or even their own mother decides to take the front seat.

I have a friend whose wife kicked up a very big fight by pointedly telling her mother-in-law to vacate the front seat where she was already seated and get into the back. The mother-in-law came down and angrily decided to take a cab to the venue of the event. Husband got angry, came down, and decided not to go to the event, and "madam front seat" was left alone to drive herself to the event. This incident happened last year. But I can tell you that things are yet to return to normal in that home even today because of that singular incident.

I do not know why people make an issue of small things like where to sit in a car.
