One of the reason is the high level of idolatory (abi na 'fetishism') in that area, it is accompanied by wickedness. Some believe the average bini man is 'wicked'. The few I have met have this kind of steeled wickedness, one of them is even 'born-again'. Bright Onime is the name of one of them.

Let’s not even talk about the possibility of losing the money due to poor management and corruption.

I am out! That is why sheyi Tinubu would rather buy houses in London.

This one has been caught red-handed after fighting to prevent the test for a while. Just call the father of the baby immediately and tell him your ordeal, if he is reasonable he will come pick you up immediately, especially if he is single. But he will be afraid that his girlfriend will see you in his house the next day.
If the test result is correct, you deserve this treatment, woman of the street.

I am 100% correct, especially in the case of el rufai. Sanusi himself had indirectly alluded to such fact that only the fx savvy person will decode. He said if he needed money that he knew what to do, he will just trade some Fx. People who lack understanding will think he meant online fx trading. But if you know you know.

omohayek:
Sadly, the CBN's fraudulent policies are enabled by the gullibility of all the Nigerians who so badly want a "strong" Naira that they'll happily enable all sorts of rip-offs for the sake of this illusion - hence the multiple exchange rates which produce opportunities for "round tripping", and the schemes to cheat the senders of remittances through an artificial rate that also scares away foreign investors. The one thing the "Strong Naira" zealots never ask themselves is what point there is in having a "strong" exchange rate that you can never get access to unless you're Dangote or some other such well-connected figure.
That question make sense. Do you know that some few years ago (not too long), CBN reaches out to the elites to tell them they have USD allocation. EL rufai, Sanusi, and many others, even when they have not requested for it? El rufai was give 700 million usd at that time. Meanwhile, students were denied access to USD to pay school fees.

I hope so but I don’t understand what is going on. Yesterday they sold it at 1,021 to BDC. So what’s going on?
The people are not being real, they are just forcing the thing with our external reserves and loans. The danger in what they are doing is that once they run out of these resources, the fall will be unimaginable. I guess they are hoping that money will just come somehow, who does that?

The real solutions include:
1. Politicians to stop stealing
2. Encourage export by remove at least 90% of the bottle-necks therein, if not all
3. Fight oil theft like it is terrorism, eliminate it
4. Stop any form of dolarization (it is also shameful that a govt agency, the customs, uses dolar to quote their fees), come on, these people act like we do not have a country, like this is just a limited liability company.
5. Reduce unemployment by encouraging the private sector
6. Invest heavily in Agriculture
7. Declare state of emergency in energy sector
8. With improved electricity, reduce the stress of doing business in Nigeria to attract foreign investors.
... and many more.

That's what they taught us in school especially if the accused happens to be an eye witness, a minor etc. Again, like out earlier, there's a possibility the accused may be exonerated. So, in other to avoid the stigma that follows such report, their faces are usually blurred or covered.

Mind you in the age social media anybody can record and upload without considering the implications.
I get, but in this case there is no implication, he has owned up to his crime. Even CNN shows mass shooters when caught, or drivers evading police. Nothing dey there. This adult cultist has told you the cult he belongs, told you the person he killed, and why he killed him. Journalists should know when to hide people's faces, not in cases like this.

It is unprofessional in journalism to display the face of someone yet to be convicted especially if it's crime related. What if the person is found innocent, what will now happen to the picture displayed on the media?
So those people they show on crime fighters had been convicted? Was Evans convicted before display? This one even confessed to us that he committed murder, the journalist was even emphasising his admitting to the crime perhaps to hear him say otherwise, since like you think, he has not been convicted.

Display his face and say he was "alledged" to have committed a crime, no burden there.

Pecoleee345:
People are wicked in this country.

Greed will finish us in this country.

Go to trade fare and see how street retailers are ripping us off big time.

My wife bought her body cream CT+ at the rate 2100 at trade fare yesterday while in our area retailers are selling it for 3700.

Kk brothers soap my wife bought the pack for 7k(6pieces) while one is sold for 1700 by retailers.

Her sanitary pad she bought 1 pack at the rate of 1050 while retailers sell for 1700.

Even strike bitters sachet pack(20 pieces) wey I dey always use console myself i buy for 2000 she got it for 1450.

Note she didn't even buy at carton price but at pack price because if she was buying in carton the price would be lower that than.

Just yesterday I bought a derica of rice on my way back home for 900 around oshodi terminal while the seller in my street is still selling for 1300 despite price of bag of rice coming down.

We are own problem.......everyone is wicked in this country.
The retailers have done you NP wrong, they did not stop you from going to shop at Trade fair every day, or every weekend. Those selling items for 1200 at trade fair bought it foe about 400, they did not stop you from travelling abroad to buy your own.

Come on, this is a free world, buy and sell as you wish. You did not give your street seller the capital to start that business. If he price are too high, simply check the next store

Sadly I agree with you and when I wrote what I wrote, I wrote it selfishing considering my own situation. I am totally against the hike and for the reasons you highlighted.

People claim Nigerians don't pay tax but every Nigerian at least pays VAT, does the vat they collect in addition to the vast natural resources we have correlates with development in the land? Sadly no.
I waiting to see if Nigeria will ever have good leaders, I used to be a believer of "Nigeria will be great someday", but sadly, I am beginning to fear if this will happen in our lifetime.
Politics › Re: FG’s Monthly Electricity Subsidy Spending To Crash By 52% On New Tariff Hike by ruffhandu: 9:12am On Apr 05, 2024

I have supported most moves by this government but on this I do not agree. I personally don't mind paying as much as 200k per month for electricity ( I currently pay about 13k monthly and about 450k on generator ) however, you can't ask people to pay 225 when they don't get even up to 8 hours of electricity per day. It is madness and absolutely unacceptable.

Nigerians should not be made to suffer for the problem the corruption of the middle class brought upon us.

I hope people stand up against this nonsense.
So you also think others think so? Paying 200k a month on how much salary? Besides, I hope you all know that electricity is not more essential than food and education, so a man has to feed, clothe and educate his family before giving thought to some of these other bills. It simply means that these people do not wish a good life for the citizenry. They are not even thinking of 24hrs electricity. I would have wished they provide the electricity first, then start negotiating the fee.

If I may ask. What does the government now subsidize? They have removed subsidy on petroleum, education, and now electricity. These people are wicked. Shouldn't they have increased wages first? Now they will feast on the money they removed from subsidy, just like they are already doing through budget padding. Nigerians I pity.

Advice is actually one of the cheapest things to offer, even when the advisor cannot dare practice what he is advising others.
Everything you said there is correct, 100%. But the fact that people initially, especially in Nigeria, are grateful for even seeing where to go to every morning and return in the night so they can have 30k into their bank account at the end of the month is a think to ponder over. Many know what they want, but they also know that what they want may never become reality because of the environment they find themselves.

I am wondering the location where a rent of 250k per Anuum comes with 5 bedroom flat with 2 toilets and the standard of living is compared to a living in UK.
Please be informed that in most places abroad, the size of your apartment is determined by the size of your family. 700-1000 pounds gives you a decent place.

Any, I do not live in the UK. Please learn to have a health and smart debate.
