It is not about party, it is about opposing the president. The fraudulent and corrupt guys who are close to the president will always be spared.

So if you are in PDP but mind your business like TA orji, EFCC will not waste it's resources going after you until you start becoming a threat.

If you are in APC but run your mouth against the president and become a threat to him, then you don buy market for EFCC and police.

The two people convicted no longer have any political value, so it is easy to use them to score some anti corruption points but the biggest fish we all know still remain untouchable for now except they switch allegiance.

However, congrats to the EFCC for catching those two thieves and may they rot in jail

I graduated in Nigeria, I'm working with one of the top company here in USA (Fortune 50).
Here in USA, if you want to go into I. T, your degree doesn't count, what matters is having the right certifications. Depending on the field. I'm still wondering why many Nigerians are doing CNA while they have the brain for I.T
They think I.T is all about coding, forgetting their are many fields in I.T that pays wells without even knowing HTML.

Please could explain more about the other fields and how to get in?

I know the wait can be something else(had to wait over 7months post AOR before PPR) but my advice is to be patient and put your mind at rest. D current trend with LVO nowadays is 7-8 months and don't expect any confirmation mail for the ADR. Just a little while and PPR will drop.

Hello, I'm new here. Plan to start my application soon. I worked with in my dad's company for more than 5 years as the administrative manager. I had a Bachelor degree in Business Education. (Bsc Ed). I want to ask if this won't be an issue. CIC employment requirement states that;

A bachelor's degree or college diploma in business administration or a related administrative services field is usually required.
Several years of experience at a professional level in business administration, finance or administrative services are usually required.

Gurus in the house, I need your help.

There is no issue. Your work experience and certificate don't have to match.

I had earlier shared how I had to write IELTS 3 times before I got through(writing was usually 6.5)... I remember those times I felt this may not work, but I thank God I never gave up.

Oh, na you cause am naa. Get those documents from him, raise a CSE with an LOE that you forgot to include them earlier and send it asap. Don't wait for ADR, some VOs are not that kind, some will reject your application based on what they see instead of ADR. This is my own advice sha.

Like I stated in my write up, it's going to be tough so if I were you, I'll start by getting a GitHub account and writing simple programs, each more complicated than the previous.
I'll also advise that you prepare your mind to earn less than your worth for a while 6-12 months just so you get that experience.

Also if possible, find an open source program and contribute, even if it's documentation. That'll be a very big plus on your CV.

Did you just upload only PR card? you are expected to upload proof of relationship like birth certificates showing the same parents name or any other document that proves you are siblings. You are also expected to upload recent Utility bills of your siblings to show he is residing in Canada. Did you miss uploading these documents?

I see lots of people here who plan to go into IT once they get to Canada so this is me dropping my two cents on what I know.

First, IT is very very wide, even my side ( software) is broad. Most of the things I'll say here apply to the software side of things and also note this is my opinion not the gospel truth.

Breaking into software engineering is in my opinion the hardest part of the field and the reason for this is because it's a practical field. Recruitment tends to be show me what you can/have done rather than what you say you can do. Its why in my opinion people in frontend (things you see) get more opportunities than backend especially for folks just coming into the field.

Another reason breaking in is a little hard is because "we" tend to recruit by recommendations. In Nigeria I worked for a big firm and for a start up and both times when new folks were needed, people just ring their contacts and state their needs.

With that out of the way, let's talk about the positives.

IT probably has one of the lowest entry barriers, all you need is a laptop and the will and you are good to go.
Because it's a field were showing what you have done is better than your certificates, people started creating blogs talking about what they're learning so there's a ton of free materials to learn anything you want to learn all you need is search.

What do I recommend?
Start with web development (HTML, CSS and JavaScript). Get a GitHub account and put everything you do online. It doesn't have to be fancy but it gives you a portfolio to show potential employers. If you are visual person you'll probably tend to move towards frontend engineering, otherwise you'll move towards backend. There are some folks who are full stack (I currently am though I don't like frontend) who do both.

Its important to have a growth mindset. The field moves so fast that by the time you learn something it's already obsolete so you'll have to keep learning.
Also you'll have to learn patience because you'll spent more than fixing bugs than writing code and those bugs would push you to the end
- in python, adding an extra space would crash your program.
- I spent the whole of today trying to figure out why what I did yesterday wasn't working anymore.

As time goes, you'll get better so hang in there and never be afraid to make mistakes. Facebook had the motto "move fast and break things".


That's all I can think of for now, I'll add more things later.

I have always loved software development and this is the career I want to pursue in Canada. My current experience is in line management in two of the biggest multinational manufacturing firms here.
However, in preparation for a career switch, I'm training on programming. Right now, I know HTML, CSS and a little javascript but my interest is not in front-end web development. I am now working on my Java coding skills to get to some level before arriving Canada in say 2 months time.
Now, how do I break into the field over there as a beginner without experience? like getting entry level roles and building up from there.

Hello, is it compulsory to complete the IMM0008 and IMM5406 forms for adding a dependent child. I raised a cse in Jan and LVO requested medicals for my son. However, I have not received any instructions from them to complete the forms. AOR, Nov 6th.
I have also paid for him and submitted all other documents. He was added to my application in march but no placeholder to upload anything for him

I don't think it is an issue since you have submitted all your son's documents. You will get the chance to fill those forms when you get PPR, then you can add your son to the form.

Thank God you noticed it before using it in your application. I didn't pay another money, just took it to the inspector that did it and he did another one. I can't say for sure if it is always the case. The good thing is that you have the chance to correct it before using it.

Another important thing you touched on was the need to study documents before collecting them.
Post ITA guys please pay attention to medical print out, Nigerian PCC and other documents. Names and passport number on these documents - I can't shout.

They had to redo ours due to errors. Good thing they always reminded one to check properly before leaving the premises. So don't be too much in a hurry. Check well

You are right. The first PCC I got had a wrong passport number and I spotted it 2 days after and I had to redo it
