Oladhips:Some of them will never get sense. They think some people that are on nairaland 24/7 do it out of idleness or joblessness, not knowing nairaland asides being the work station of some people, that others use it as sources of information that do determine or shape their businesses and services. It's like X:it's now source of livelihood of millions of people that even necessitates they be on the forum always, otherwise them being offline or non responsive for a single minute or post can cost them millions. |
Let's see if some sanity will be restored,ill-equipped moderators given the boot and those staying doing their goddam jobs. Seen threads where moderators could not use a correct simple sentence of English. Then moderators that are so blatantly ethnically biased, your jaw just drops. There are also some monikers noted and notorious for fake news or promoting ethnic hate and wars |
I am a fan of Peter Obi and feel he would have done a far better job than Tinubu, but I feel he embellishes some of his statements with exaggerations and half truths. Who would threaten him and for what purpose? Probably during the court case he may have been talked into dropping the court challenge, but that he was threatened with harm and offered very juicy contracts, posts or whatever,I don't believe. Peter Obi should also stop reacting to all issues. Maybe he wants to be seen as an active opposition candidate, but an active politician should not go about reacting to everything, congratulating any or everyone. He should only address issues of National importance. Unless I missed it,but I didn't see where he reacted to the ₦150m keep that nass members under the Labour party collected. |
Must confess this guy has defied many predictions and defied the odds. Whether it's his frank, down to earth personality or just that he is lucky or blessed, one must agree, many expected portable to have gone into oblivion by now,but he seems to be thriving further. |
PROPHETmichael:Typed like a true Mpi. |
Chicagograduate:So eating egufe and drinking in a joint are frivolities for a "genuine" businessman. That means 90% of Igbo businessmen and majority of businessmen from other tribes are not genuine? Dindinrin! |
Unless you are into politics, yahoo yahoo or other corrupt or criminal acts that fetches money, the fuel price increase and naira devaluation were killers. Imagine using majority of your income to buy diesel or fuel |
The other day it was someone making millions from planting one plot of what I don't even remember again, now this one. Is like all those dreams some people were sold when farming schemes were rampant, that if you contribute x amount, within 3 months or time of harvest, your X naira would have become millions. Grasshoppers may have food and nutritional value, but that people can become millionaires from its breeding,is just fallacy of monumental proportions |
manutdrichie:Dry as sandpaper |
And if they foolishly decide to recontest their seats under APC, they will get the beating of their lives. I have always maintained that in Nigeria only a mentally retarded governor will lose reelection or will his annointed candidates for office lose. The executive power and security votes that a state governor has gives him almost automatic power to win any election if he knows how to use that money and that power. Wike will soon learn the bitter lesson he ditched to Amaechi, that his gra gra ended the moment he became an ex governor. Even if he is made the minister of Rivers State, unless Wubara is retarded,he has all the tools he needs to put Wike and his supporters in their place. That is how the system in Nigeria operates and that next to the president, the second most powerful office is that of a state governor. |
Just six months, eyes are already being washed clear. As bad as Buhari was,it took some people a full first term to realise he was a disaster . |
This is just a conspiracy theory:is it possible that Wike's loyalists directly or indirectly prompted by him carried out these deadly raid so as to make Fubara look bad and justify while he needs to be impeached? For a while haven't heard if gun men waylaying a convoy and kidnapping foreigners in Rivers while mercilessly murdering their escorts and even drivers. Was more common in the SE of recent, particularly imo state. |
Epistle. Rather Nigeria has got to the stage where nothing again can collectively set the citizenry against the government and the elites. If not a single demonstration of significance could be carried out, despite how disastrously Buhari ruled this country for 8 years, not a single demonstration was carried out despite Tinubu removing subsidy and increasing fuel price by 300%!Then at the same time devaluing the naira by almostc100% setting off the worst inflation this nation has ever witnessed, with no cushioning policies in place;then nothing can collectively bring out Nigerians to demonstrate against any other policy. If any group demonstrates tomorrow, for example,Tinubu even decides that Nigerians should be taxed for the air we breathe, there would be opposing demonstrations in support of the policy. Such is the tragedy of the Nigerian state. |
Sometimes I just pity 8fficers like this one because he must have been ratted out by someone out of jealousy or failure to fulfil his own side of a deal. Why I sympathize with him is that it would just be bad luck if he gets any kind of sanction for this. I can bet anything with anyone that if the accounts and assets of any Commissioner of police or any rank from Brigadier or its other army equivalent or even a colonel, are scrutinized,ALL would be found guilty of benefitting from one form of fraud or the other. Let the man breathe or on the other hand,do a sweeping reform of the system, sparing no one. Corruption fight was one battle millions thought Buhari was not only going to stamp out,but at worst give it a hard fight,by rooting out many corrupt people,no matter who they are because corruption is rightfully said, one of the main hindrances to our development. But Buhari came and not just overlooked many corrupt deeds, but actually embraced corruption and the corrupt. Since we lost that golden opportunity with Buhari, based on the false integrity they claimed he had,no one should expect even a fiddle of a fight from Tinubu:he has lived and embraced corruption and criminal deeds almost his entire adult life. |
The hypocrisy of these Northerners is not today it started. These are people that would destroy drinks a legitimate businessman selling beers, but smoke like no one. People who say women should not be seen to dress seductively and that prostitution is frowned upon, but would go off and marry a 13 year old and up to 4 wives and patronise sane prostitutes behind closed doors. The people that would protest against Israel fighting the Palestinians but for donkey years, BH has been killing and maiming at will, but they never protested under YarAdua or Buhari. Under Buhari it wasn't even just one episode, numerous episodes occurred, sometimes with larger figures, yet they kept mum. |
Tonytonex:Don't mind them. They like painting pictures of one imaginary millions from farming. When someone reads ₦1m from a plot of ginger farm, the person will rush thinking it's that straightforward. They don't factor in that crops can go bad,you have to buy seedlings, hire people to weed the land on a regular basis & to harvest, transport the goods to the market because buyers won't come to your farm to do the transporting themselves. In short, most sweet farm tales never take the cost of production and other expenses into their millions calculation. Don't be surprised these same millions hyped about,by the time costs are factored in,you may be getting just 100k or even 50k profit, then the tears would start. I maybe wrong, but with way things are,I don't see how small scale farming will fetch anyone millions. That is why it's better you be a middle man that do the actual farming atimes.A middleman cannot incur any cost, just straight profit after removing the seller's price from the buyer's and adding his/her own profit |
silvoclaira:You are asking an abnormal, obviously mentally challenged or frustrated person if he is normal? There are many of them on this forum,on both sides, either posting fake news or posting tribal slurs on every thread. |
Lagusta:Find the bolded laughable. Anytime one sees something that looks so illogical that you are hard pressed to believe anyone with commonsense, talkless in this internet age,can believe it,I always tell people that if highly "certificated"people in nigeria can believe that a woman can turn to a bird at night, then nothing, absolutely nothing,is beyond being believed hook, line and sinker by some Nigerians. |
Aquadude16:How and why? Please give further details |
TopBanter:I am one advocate of dealing harshly with purveyors of fake news. It's becoming rampant and because nland is a faceless forum people feel they can forge any crap, post it and nothing will happen to them. If it's not done, very soon people would just wake up,find one person or organisation image to tarnish or even cause a national uproar, simply over a news that is fake. |
This is a commendable policy. This is what developed Nations do. You maynot subsidise a product so as not to spend funds in unnecessary areas, but by removing some fees, duties, levies, etc, you end up achieving the same price reduction or stabilisation in times of inflation. When they do wrong,as Tinubu has been doing from day 1,he should be condemned. But on the rare occasion he takes a right step,it should also be pointed out. P.S.This was a Buhari policy(2022),so why was it not implemented till now? |
Proudlyngwa:Trust the process ![]() McTominay is the best thing since Steven Gerrard. He can play 4,he can play8,he can play box to box. "Antony on his day is unplayable". Onana by statistics is the second best keeper in the EPL. "All Maguire needed was confidence and belief and he is showing why he is one of the best in the league",etc, etc. Even seasoned analysts that should know better used one fluke of a result against a shitty Chelsea team to rate manager and team great. |
Of course but brain challenged imps were jumping up and down saying when Dangote comes on stream petrol would sell for ₦300 because Nigeria won't be importing fuel again with foreign exchange! I won't even be surprised if it becomes more costly to buy a litre of Dangote fuel, than to import it.If you query it they would tell you that selling anything below current price the refinery would run at a loss and won't be able to pay it's debts. Also selling at anything below dollar based pricing would encourage smuggling across the borders. That is the Nigerian way of things:contradictions and "upsidededness". |
nonhuman:Oga,I av been to Ariaria. The only thing you would tell me is that Ariaria extends beyond the area I know it to be. Googled where it's said it emcompasses 3 LG areas! That is news and strange to me and if true, then the 10k estimate maybe true. There is even a survey that gave an exact figure of 37k shops!!I acknowledged and stated this in my other posts on this same thread. I used to think it starts some metres after seven Decking then stops at that Cesspit or muddy or unmotorable area just after the last roll of section of shops. Don't assume this has anything to do with one not knowing the place or anything to do with tribal fights that are rampant here. My issue is that from the surface the original statistics looks well exaggerated from what I use to know as Ariaria. |
Staywithbina:Yeah, yeah. The only other Nigerian curse you haven't placed on my head is for God to punish me. Despite all the curses, you deflected from answering any of the questions I posed. At least answer the questions so that others would learn and have an idea of how your kidnappers operate. Even the exact area this happened you haven't mentioned because if you were brought back from that deep village you must have asked people at the junction you were dropped where you are and narrated your experience. You also didn't bother reporting to the police after. I only asked basic questions and the next thing you did is start raining abuse and curses. |
I am curious. After they emptied the account, they still drove you back to the junction where you boarded bus back to your base and they also gave you transport fare? Someone wants to kidnap you,yet has his details on Jiji. They took you to a very remote place, just ruffled you up and withing minutes transaction involving a large sum had been sent. So there was perfect network there in that remote location to make the transactions from wherever it was sent and you had people on standby to immediately transfer such large sums without them verifying if your story is true.Even if they confirmed it was you,no one bothered involving the police? Even when rich people are kidnapped it takes some days before ransome money is paid. The story is not making sense. Sounding like someone wanting to do a bad PR job on Jiji. |
He for kukuma turn all the existing LG's to states. |
