If fcta has about 39k staff, according to Wike, then ₦9b+ salary per month is not an outrageous figure if you are looking at average salary of ₦200-250k. What should be the bone of contention is if the staff strength is actually 39k or if a good number out of that are ghost workers BVN, Nin has made corruption fight in Nigeria pretty easy, particularly for civil service payroll, but it's just the will power that is lacking because the person fighting the corruption may also be indulged in it or is a major beneficiary. With bvn,you would know the account balance of all civil servants, make a comparison to that person's publicly known salary, then compare to it and to assets.Even if a civil decides to use family members to hide funds,it's still easy to trace;a child cannot have 100m in the account or a full-time housewife 200m or cousins with humongous sums hidden. So long the will power is not there, corruption we must all accept has come to stay |
Stevenson20:It's in Nigeria I came to learn a new kind of medical diagnosis "death from past emotional trauma". Someone who had a house in Lekki, drives a luxury car, travels out for shows was killed by "a past emotional torture" from his record label boss. 95% of those that supported this theory and crucified Marley are living from hand to mouth and could probably not afford one of Mohbad's wristwatches,if they saved for a year.Yet,these barely surviving didn't die out of their life frustrations, but believed NM killed mohbad because he tortured him "emotionally"! |
How could he av gone to withdraw huge sums of money without some security, being a top goverment official. Someone in the office, privy to his going to the bank to withdraw that volume of cash MAYBE the informant. |
ggood:Lawyer is all good but newspaper or social media posts always bring quick, positive resolution. There is this person @Hundeyin on Twitter(X),follow him then post the story(some social media influencers are known to demand money before posting, hope he isn't one of them.Others maynot even read your story at all) and also see if you can get contact of Punch or also follow them and post the story on their page. I am keen to see how this story develops because it clearly looks like a case of extortion. I feel your brother showing again at that station, insisting on seeing the DPO to re-emphasize he is innocent and should have his money refunded will make the DPO know that something is up or someone is pushing him.Let him not show fear please.ALL police officers are scared of bad publicity because they know that police HQ Abuja reading about them for any controversy is frowned on and he would then check and realise ₦60k in that office he occupies is chicken change compared to whatever negative outcome that may arise or if the story boomerangs. Please keep me posted on developments. |
ggood:Oboy, make a case. Is it possible for u to go with him or tell him to go back to the station and insist on seeing the DPO? If he sees the DPO narrate the incident and if the DPO supports his men or aware of what has happened and is not doing anything, tell him the reason you came to him or her is to see if he would refund back your brother's money and give him the respect of that office. But since he has decided not to do the right thing, the story is already with PunchNewspapers. That someone or you your brother narrated the incident to got in touch with punch. You can also throw in that one other social media influencer is aware of the case and told you to go and meet the DPO and if nothing is done,he would post it on social media. Make sure to get the names of the people involved,so that if you are putting your story across you have names and station to mention. If him or both of you go,ensure or make emphasis that you are focussing on the name tags on any of the policemen involved, let them know your eyes are on the name tag, they will guess your threats are not empty, that you want to get their names to send to the media you mentioned. |
ggood:Then, please make the sacrifice to locate the Punch office with any documented evidence you have got and your story may just make it.Unless it's not published, but if it does, you are home free. Can also initiate legal action against the accuser for damages.Know it's a lot of sacrifice in time and resources, but some of these kinds of cases should be pursued to not just your brother being released but damages paid,so people can learn to do the right thing and not intimidate others with means or connection. You could also tell the IPO and dpo that punch is already on your case(after visiting punch,so that it doesn't look like an empty threat) |
So less than a billion or just $1million to feed the entire prison population in Nigeria? Unless this is a typographical error or he meant ₦3m daily for the prisoners of one state, this is gross underfeeding & underfunding. No wonder they are served with watery, barely cooked beans on a daily basis. |
This is a very straightforward case, assuming your brother is telling the truth. I know there are still some truthful Nigerians out there, but the dark truth is that the average Nigerian is a lying, dishonest person. Having said that,if your brother or you can confirm from opay that that transaction didn't arise from him, then the IPO and dpo of that station will soon start sweating:with your documented evidence and proven honesty of your case, locate the Punch office along Lagos Ibadan expressway near Magboro and request to speak with the crime desk. If they hear out your case and do their own checks, they will publish it and that is what I meant that the IPO and dpo may soon be sweating,no police officer want to have his name or station published for a shoddy or corrupt investigation. |
Padipadi:I also wanted to ask how it was definitely proved to be gouty arthritis. Where other tests done to rule out other illnesses? From the picture here that entire foot is swollen but gouty arthritis is mainly confined to swelling of the big toe. @tofolo,what tests were done to confirm your gouty arthritis? |
eyeses:I doubt you read my post well. Please reread again |
olaolulazio:what is there to make noise about in a case that is clearly meant to just appeal to the crowd? |
Localemperor:When a Nigerian government wants to lie or how you know the government is lying is just to look at the figures they put out. If it's not a typographical error,11k + CNG vehicles within a few months is of course impossicant,so once those figures came out,you just knew it was another scam. |
CamelCase:Na wao, this your story is touching. But I am curious how did 2 ladies get "stranded in the bush"?Did they tell you what happened for you to be convinced enough to pick them? One has to be careful, particularly the fact you are not that sure the car can safely take you to your destination |
Is SERAP still in existence? Ever since this NGO started making noise and collecting money from I guess foreign organisations to release countless press releases and threaten to charge one goverment arm or the other to court, not a single thing has changed from all their useless charades, not a SINGLE thing! If an organisation over the years has received countless funds to pursue a cause and there hasn't been a single change in policy or direction, then that organisation has failed and the next logical thing is to investigate the finances of the head or directors. I can bet they have been living large over NGO funds sent to them while making pointless noise on pages of newspaper or social media. Anyone can use ₦5k to file a court case, appear once ,then use 100k to organise a press conference or get story published online, while pocketing the balance of maybe ₦700k-₦1million assigned them. |
Artiiclebeast:Don't mind the imps. Of course gullibles have already started swallowing the story hook, line and sinker without using commonsense again! So you go to do DNA and the results that have a stated pattern of reporting is now altered by the nurse on her system just like that and she now tells the man "I am the one now issuing DNA results" and signs it there instead of the hospital DNA services office. On what form did he sign or she also forged her own DNA collection form? She couldn't even have been given the result by the hospital or lab in the first place because that's not her's to collect,so how did she know what to even alter in the first place! Dindirins, feeding the social media zombies. |
Thought those clowns in this government said security has improved? |

If you like call it a bush cow,a bush chicken or a bush monkey, all I know is that you are eating a a family of the "nkapi" rat. |
The reality which we must all face is that maintaining a structure such as a hostel where anything from 500-1000 students are residing is a capital intensive venture: Water into at least 4 overhead tanks has to be pumped at least 2-3times a day. The toilets have to be cleaned and regularly replaced because they naturally develop faults with continuous use by such a large number:imagine having to run each flushing system about 50times alone in the morning, maybe another 100 in evenings and nights when students return from the days activities. Power has to be on to run these things, usually the school relies on diesel powered generators, they also develop fault or breakdown even when serviced regularly. To run a diesel gen for even 12hours a day for a month runs into millions. Electric connections have to be regularly fixed, environment kept clean, toilets washed, for which you have to employ several cleaners. Security had to be provided for each hostel aside hostel masters. So it's either governments pump generous sums for maintenance or schools charge appropriate fees as hostel fees. Anything less than either of these 2 options will inevitably lead to the state of hostels like that cited in this thread. |
Dybala11:Okay,I get you. The point I was also trying to put across is that the average Nigerian (me included) is a coward that even when staring death in the face caused for eg by misgovernance or a goverment policy, would rather start beating and blaming his/herself than radically confront the perpetrator of his/her condition. Tell me any other country in the world where cost of fuel would go up overnight by 400%,then at the same time, the country's currency is devalued by about 70% without as much as a demonstration, talkless violent protests! Even in America and the western world, with democratic elections and ability to change a bad goverment at the polls,if these 2 policies alone were implemented, they wouldn't wait till the next poll to start protests and review of the policies!!! |
Dybala11:Do you see me opening threads everyday lamenting that garri is now 2k for a cup or that bottled groundnut is now 5k? Or that 2 pieces of Titus fish is now 8k? You ask yourself:all the lamenting since the days of Buhari did it change anything? All the daily horrible news and tears of blood about the cost of things and living in Nigeria has it even as much as made Tinubu to cancel any of his travel plans, change policies, address Nigerians or call an emergency cabinet meeting? With all the lamentations, members of the NASS are still buying ₦100-₦150m jeeps. Does it not tell you the cries doesn't even affect them one bit or their mindset about the way they act? So what are all the lamentations on social media for?Nothing, just adding to the psychological trauma of the same people lamenting,it's not affecting or changing the course of a SINGLE item of goverment policy or ways they are running the country! |
Nigerians are not hungry yet. With all the supposed cry in the land and increasing suicide rates and despair all round, how is it not one single person of the several millions in despair has not gone to Also Rock to burn himself or do a dramatic suicide show in front of the president's convoy? We are not ready to change Nigeria so let's all stop complaining |
Did your units finish before you had this issue or u still had some units left? Some people have said that once your units completely run out and you lose power, that for it to be restored you have to take go to the IE office and that restoration may take up to a month, because once it enters "code",there is problem |
This is another scam. Every new government comes up with this idea that they have secured investors. They go and organise a Nigerian led foreign organisation or a group of foreign based Nigerians come and say they will invest several million or even billion dollars to so and so sector. At the end,no show after their tenure because it was all a scam in the first place. This scheme is particularly rampant in the SS states |
If there is no longer fuel subsidy, there is no way a litre of petrol would be selling for ₦580-₦650 with ₦ exchanging at 1000/$. Unless the goverment is selling dollars to NNPC and other marketers at hugely discounted dollar rates, which is another criminal enterprise as bad as that of subsidy. |
robosky02:Rubbish post. Just repeating the same thing over and over without any hard fact or breakdown on how the result can help the Eagles. Don't expect anything less from a blog. Everyone is now a blogger, even secondary school drop outs. |
Assuming we were a society governed by rules and regulations and the law,the SC order would have been an issue and you would have seen the AGF running helter skelter to get the SC to sit and hear the merits of the case why it should quash it's order Dec 31st order. But here what it takes is for business to go on as usual and at worse the AGF calls the chief justice to write an order vacating its previous order. So no one should worry its head, whatever the government of Nigeria wants is what the judiciary will grant, even if it means one judge writing a judgement on paper and another on air |
Lee99:Antibiotics for yeast infection? Oh lord! |
mascot87:80% is being conservative in my opinion. 90% is more like it;if u don't see childish, annoying irrelevant comments, you can't escape the nauseating tribal taunts from mainly TWO and sometimes all sides;and by chance you miraculously escape seeing those, you won't definitely juggle through the spread of fake news and reactions to news that are so glaringly fake you then wonder if the internet rather than improve the IQ of the average Nigerian internet user, hasn't made it lower. The annoying part is that Seun has given up,he is neither interested in upgrading or finding ways to improve the intellectual content of the forum by weeding out the groups of irritants and nauseating posters that continue to lower it. |
Just that it would be hijacked by corrupt politicians and run aground by goverment appointees who would use the shipping line for their businesses and won't want to pay. Otherwise, the shipping business is one that can generate much needed foreign income for Nigeria and even save some dollars paid to foreign shipping lines. We can also capture the West African market if it's properly run. |
