ProgrammingWho Wants to Start an Electronic Game Development Company? by Seun(mod): 5:14pm On Nov 29, 2005
From Download Squad Blog:
"While it's a little cost prohibitive to start developing Xbox 360 or PS3 games from your bedroom, let's not forget games like Roller Coaster Tycoon and Alien Hominid went from humble beginnings to financially successful franchises. Although you'd have to spend hundreds of hours developing AAA titles, there are some ways to get slick games up and running quickly. I'm going to show you a few ways to do just that."

So what do you think of that article and who's interested in creating a game company?

Frankly speaking, I don't know what water is doing in seeni's list. We have water already: our water supply system is supplied by private sector bore hole operators and it's pretty ok as long as you know to boil your water before drinking.

If there's one thing the next administration can do to make Nigeria better, it will be to provide reliable and affordable electricity supply system.

Hello chigurl. Thanks for sharing!

Why don't you give the other men (Whites, Asians, etc) a chance? Life is to short to be experiencing unhappiness just because one is determined to only date people of a particular race or color. Go for whoever will make you happy - white, black, yellow or purple. Don't date a jerk just because he's a Nigerian. Don't limit your chance of finding real love!

RomanceRe: 16 year old Friend of My Brother Asking Me Out (I'm 21) by Seun(mod): 11:41pm On Nov 27, 2005
You hurt him real bad. Judging from the contents of your first post (not wanting to damage his self-esteem) I saw you as an exceptionally nice Nigerian lady. Judging by the contents of your last post, you appear to be capable of much wickedness. The poor boy was distressed to the point sobbing and you still pressed on with the demand that he must pay for your meal. At that point I felt dissapointed, but maybe I'm just being sentimental.
FamilyRe: Best Way to Punish Kids? by Seun(mod): 10:41pm On Nov 27, 2005
The "whipping boy" concept you described above was a really stupid custom! Whose children do you intend to use as whipping boys/girls for your kids? Definitely not mine!

There is a very body of knowledge on how to raise and discipline children without resorting to spanking, caning, or whipping other people's innocent children. Techniques used include: Time-outs, Hugging, Distraction, Reason, Consequences, Modeling, Praise and rewards, etc. Read: Non-Violent Child Discipline.
RomanceRe: 16 year old Friend of My Brother Asking Me Out (I'm 21) by Seun(mod): 8:15pm On Nov 27, 2005
Ok, I don't think you can break it to him in one sitting without breaking his heart (if he's innocent) unless we know a bit more:
- If you accept, are you going to be his first 'girlfriend'?
- Does he knows that you are 5 years older than he is?
- Does he knows that women usually date older men?

Here are some replies that won't be so hurtful:
- "I usually date guys around 25, 26 years of age. Sorry, dear." (score:5/10)
- "Why don't wait until you are 18, then ask again? It would be illegal to date you now." (9/10)
- "My junior sister likes you a lot. I'll give her a good word or two about you!" (10/10)

Ok, I really need to know if your young man is genuinely 'infatuated' (in love) with you or if he's just to score with a hot chick to boost his resume. Interesting story!
BusinessRe: What Would You Do With a Million Naira? by Seun(mod): 6:54pm On Nov 27, 2005
While 1 million naira is a nice amount of money, it is not an enormous amount of money. So if I get it, I will only use it to do what I was already planning to do with my life. The money will only help me to get there much earlier. 1 million naira will save me about 1 year of my life.
PhonesRe: How Much Do You Spend on Recharge Cards? (Phone Cards) by Seun(mod): 6:27pm On Nov 27, 2005
I used to spend about 500 naira per week when I was using my MTEL line, but now I have stopped using my GSM line (I will resume when I have a solid phone wink)  Besides, the MTEL line doesn't have GPRS, or I don't know how to activate MTEL GPRS, so what's the point?

I use a Multilinks line for Internet access and I pay 500 naira per day and 1500 naira per month to maintain remain online. I hardly ever make calls - in a month I might not spend up to five minutes making calls - so that's about all I spend.

Maybe you need to tell him your age? And ask him what exactly he wants from you? Maybe he's just looking for someone to teach him the ways of the world - a sugar mommy! Don't you want to be a sugar mommy? grin

Reporting wastes a spammer's time because all the people who would have responded to his spam mail would not be able to send their replies to his new address. Reporting takes less than 2 minutes and can cost the scammer several days of "work". Scam baiting costs you as much time as it costs the scammer, and you're putting yourself at risk.

If people start reporting all the scam emails they get, the scammers will not be able to send their emails in bulk again. They will have to open one email address for each potential victim, which would really slow them down.
PoliticsRe: Who is Wrestling Corruption in Nigeria? by Seun(mod): 2:53pm On Nov 27, 2005
The Bayelsa State Governor's case is special because he travelled out and tried to launder his stolen money in Britain, where he has no immunity. Now he's back.  Let's wait for the the 19 other state governors under investigation to travel to the UK and try to launder their stolen funds and see what happens.  The EFCC had little to do with this except that they cooperated with the UK Police.

The EFCC is fighting corruption in Nigeria.  Acording to a rumor, there are 20 state governors (out of 36!) currently under investigation by the EFCC, but they can't charge them to court because they enjoy immunity.  That is why we have "selective prosecution".  The EFCC is not responsible for the immunity clause, is it?  Why not blame the lawmakers (National Assembly) for allowing the immunity clause in the constitution?

FamilyRe: Best Way to Punish Kids? by Seun(mod): 12:53pm On Nov 27, 2005
If the child thinks you are beating out of love, he'll be ok. But if the child is intelligent enough to realise that you are beating him out of ignorance, then you will have problems.

There are parents who have been able to raise disciplined children without beating. So it is either you learn how to discipline a child non-violently, or you go ahead and beat the child and hope the child sees it as an expression of love.

If you are willing to go thrugh the pain of childbirth and the struggles of childbearing, why is it so hard to learn how to discipline a child nonviolently? If I were president I will force all married couples to go to parenting school to learn it before they are allowed to raise kids.

Art, Graphics & VideoRe: I'm Into 3D Modeling by Seun(mod): 12:35pm On Nov 27, 2005
Try to create some interesting, original works and then set up a website to show them off. Then you can join sites like Scriptlance.com to bid for jobs in that area, or use your site to recruit clients, or use your network to get clients. It's important to have a gallery where prospective clients can see your previous work.
