Simplyleo: There is nothing like fuel-less and/Or water-powered generator. Whoever told you he did such, either oyibo or black is a scammer. Infact, read the report again with focus on that generator part, it is a scam.
To even assume a generator without energy source can exist is a clear indication that we are not learning anything not to talk of even following. I read the article and I remembered you called our attention to this, but I guess the comments from others later took a tribal dimension and people lost focus on what you were trying to draw our attention. |

Nowenuse: Wow, thank you very very much! I never had an idea of these things.
So how come Flagyl & Tetra works as a cure for running stomach caused by intake of excessive sweet things and not by microbes? Okay sir, first of all flagy and tetra can "work" for the following reasons 1) Some metronidazole are compounded with anti motility agents which not only destroys microbes but inhibit gut motility 2) In some cases, it may be a case of placebo effect. The person would simply excrete all the fluid content till balance returns since it is uncomplicated but since the person took the flagyl, he would assume the flagy is working 3) It may also be a latent case which was aggravated by the high sugar intake leading to a complicated diarrhea which the person may not be aware of, hence taking the flagy may work |
Pets › Re: Why I'm Skeptical Of Nigerian Vetrinary Doctors by seunH: 8:19pm On Aug 12, 2019 |
My brothers have said it all, what is killing the profession is quackery! quackery!quackery!. The veterinary profession is one of the most bastardised in terms of quackery in that its very difficult to identify the genuine ones. You would see some semi illiterates calling themselves vets simply because they have an idea of animal diseases, diploma holders in animal health/science/production claiming to be a vets and even some Bsc holders in these above professions claiming to be a vet and such people would be so confident and brazen because in the person's mind, he would be like "worse worse is it not an ordinary animal" (unlike MBBS where quacks try to be discrete). This quackery has given the veterinary profession so much bad name that people don't want their loved ones near the profession, because when people who claim to be vet doctors can't speak good English and would collect 300 naira for procedures in your house then why waste 6yrs . The truth is this; I can say boldly that a high percentage of vets in Nigeria are good and can compete favorably with their counterparts abroad simply because the training they get in Nigeria is rigorously rigorous and the screening process is really tough. In a class of 280 in 100 level, by 600 level the population would have reduced to around 80, about 200 would be forced to withdraw to other science courses hence majority of the vets you see are usually thoroughbred. The only way to avoid this kind of problems in future is to identify the quacks so that you would know whom you are dealing with, and these are the following ways to identify them; 1) Its your right to ask questions about whatever condition your animal is suffering from and get a very detailed answer, if your "vet" cannot answer you or is dodgy about the question. Such individual is likely a quack 2) Stylishly ask which school he/she graduated from. We have only 13 vet schools in Nigeria, in which most people don't know, take note of the schools and if his school ain't in any, he is definitely a quack. "Imagine a "vet" claiming he graduated from Unilag" 3) Check the persons carriage, spoken English and dressing, although subjective, it can be a give away 4) Check his price range and his desperation for money, it could also be a give away. My dear friends no Vet who spend 6yrs in Vet school would collect 300 naira from you for any procedure in your house !! 5) Lastly, if he is quick to give judgement on your case without careful diagnosis, such individual is likely a quack In conclusion, I believe if the above is followed you would be saved from quacks and you would appreciate the profession better. |

Nowenuse: Wow, thank u for this.
But please I have a question. A lot of us get running stomachs from too much taking of sweet things. How does this relate to microbes attacking the guts? Okay, first of all, sweet things intake have little relationship with microbes attacking the gut leading to runny stomach. For us to understand the relationship between excessive sweet things intake and running stomach we must first understand the principle of osmosis, which is movement of water from a region of higher quantity (hypotonic) to a region of lower quantity (hypertonic). Sweet things as we know contains high amount of sugar. When we ingest high quantity of these sweet things, the quantity of sugar in the gut increases and the gut content becomes (hypertonic). This sets up an osmotic gradient and water would be drawn from surrounding cells and tissues which are (hypotonic) into the gut. This in turn excessively increases the volume of fluid in the gut thereby overwhelming the ability of the villi to absorb the fluid, leading to excretion of excessive watery faeces(diarrhea). |

Angelfrost: Thank you... You simply provided further clarification to my simple statement. However, not every intestinal motility issue is microbe-related. Some are drug-induced, and even anxiety-induced. Taking flagyl for the latter is simply abuse... This is why an anti-motility medication like Loperamide should be first-line till infection is proven. Very Very Correct sir |
Health › Re: Flagyl And Tetracycline Are Not First Aid For Diarrhea – Aproko Doctor by seunH: 3:08pm On Aug 11, 2019 |
Angelfrost: Ironically, it's most of your fellow doctors that compound the issue of antibiotics resistance... Nigeria is one of the few countries where "trained" medical doctors prescribe antibiotics for flu and common cold symptoms especially in pediatric cases. Same thing for self-limiting oto-infections...
The case of metronidazole use in non-complicated diarrhea is an age long abuse that will be difficult to curb, mostly due to the constipation-inducing side-effect of the drug (which most mistake as the main therapeutic effect). You are right sir to an extent but I kind of disagree with the last part when you said "due to the constipation-inducing side-effect of the drug which most mistake as the main therapeutic effect". Metronidazole is an antibiotic that has affinity for gut microbes. When these microbes attack the gut, they elicit inflammatory reactions which damage the gut mucosa especially the villi which is responsible for absorbing fluid and nutrients from food, hence the gut would lose capacity to hold food for long, leading to diarrhea. When metronidazole is administered, these gut microbes are destroyed and this leads to cessation of inflammatory reaction thereby allowing for regeneration of the gut mucosa and villi. |

On a second look at the picture of her corpse (if she is really the one), I gave it a second thought and realized it could be a case of Erotic Asphyxiation gone wrong, I said so because we had similar case like that in 2009 where we conducted autopsy on a man with similar presentation, in his own case it was Auto-Erotic Asphyxia, he strangled himself in order to reach orgasm and died when the safety mechanism failed. In the above case I'm assuming she or her partner had a fetish for the above and something went wrong along the line, she died and he bolted away. That lady above doesn't really look like a cheap prostitute (my opinion tho). This sexual fetish has been practice in practice since time immemorial, when people observed that when criminals were publicly hanged, at the point when the stage is removed they suddenly develop an erection and some even "release" before later dying, that was were the idea came from !!!!!! |

From my understanding of his grievances, he’s not really against APC but Ganduje. After the election, a common ground can be found. A southerner/Kwankwaso ticket will be unbeatable in 2023. Confirm!!! I believe currently as we speak the proposal is been offered to him, aside ministerial slot they may even offer him a significant part of APC structure in the state, remember that some months back, he was about decamping back to APC. My brother, that is the power of incumbency, you can make things happen. That's why I'm not so bothered about yesterdays election. I agree with you that South west should have done better. The margin is still better in Lagos Ekiti and Ogun unlike Osun .I think APC leaders in the region did not do well to get the desired result. However APC still had votes there complemeing its victory. In 2023 Both APC and PDP will look for a candidate in the south. because it is their turn.APcC candidate must be acceptable in the north too.At this time South west and South are stakeholders but Goodluchk has just finished from South south that is why the odds favour South west. .How I wish hard hearted South East listened to my advice .it would have been their turn to rule in 2023but they messed up again. In 2023. it is our turn again in the South south to rule.PMB knows it is non negotiable That was exactly what I told my wife this morning, Although I'm Yoruba, but I believe 2023 is for SS. I will be more comfortable seeing a SS presidental candidate on the ballot box than from my tribe because I know that with a SS candidate, bloc votes are guaranteed compared to a SW candidate. |

ejimatic: . It is here on Nairaland that I said If OBJ spent 8 years Buhari will spend 8 years too.OBJ used south tenure PMB is using the north tenure.completely.... I further said that Buhari would not be the first northerner to rule only for 1 term...Additionally I advised the South east to team with the south west so Igbo presidency can be a reality in 2023.Surprisingly. some people with their political miscalculation did not believe me.some front the south east flared up.....No of likes and shares for Atiku increased online but I Know the dynamics of Nigerian politics.... I pity South east...see your life again....My write up on the election will be released soon.... when we talk we know what we are saying.Power must sift in 2023 that is what south west stands for.. Sir, I'm looking forward to the write up, please mention me when it is ready. But as far as I'm concerned SW performed woefully as if they were not interested in 2023. Sir if you want your region to be considered for presidency, you must deliver block votes so as to complement whatever would be produced up north because we should note that PMB cannot contest in 2023 hence APC would prefer any southern region capable of delivering block votes, which clearly SW will not. |

Should they lose, they'll claim the other party rigged because according to the noise they have been making, they were clearly in the lead before the opposition rigged their way to victory.

Sanchez01: In the not too distant future, politicians hoping to contest on a national level will ignore the entire South East and focus on better regions where the dynamics and importance of politics are better understood.
A region with the lowest registered number of voters is still the same region with the lowest turn out, yet the lapdog called Ohaneze will start making demands like they were owed in the afterlife.
None of the two useless elements going head-to-head have the answers to Nigeria's problems but if Atiku is to cry after this election, he should clearly hold the South-East partly responsible for his failure.
Buhari will enjoy massive stakes in the South South this time which will ease the votes of the South East. Atiku can't win the South West, no doubt, all he can do is try...
It is high time people understood that cult followership does not translate to BLOC votes. Kwankwanso and his band of Kwankwasiyya are demonstrating this already.
The likes of Saraki, Kwankwanso and Dankwambo are nothing but political Moratas. In the end, there is a huge lesson to take away from all of these.
