FamilyRe: I Am Tired Of My Marriage by shilling(f): 3:57am On Jan 02, 2011
Wow. . . lots of wonderful people on NL.

Abydee, there's been lots of great advice here. Don't give up, keep loving on your husband. Go the extra mile, not just the usual cooking, cleaning, etc. If you can, read "Marry Him: The Case for Settling for Mr Good Enough". Good luck!

@sandygirl: Use the advice given to Abydee. All hope isn't lost for you either.

Atreides:
There is no hidden agenda-Its just the lack of trust that gets to me. I have never given him any reason to distrust me. I dont stay out past curfew,i dont do drugs,he's never had to lock me up in a room to keep me from a guy i was in 'love' with,i dont flunk any subject,i dont smoke,i dont drink(except occasionally),i always make good grades,i've never sneaked out of the house,he's never had to bring my wasted behind home from a club . I am the classic 'good girl'. I know what some kids are putting their parents through, the kinda premature grey hairs they are giving their parents and that is not me. Ive never given him a day of grief and i dont think a little respect for my privacy is too much to ask for. I just dont get why he doesnt trust me because ive never given him any reason to distrust me.
Holy crap! You're underage!

Anyways, this reminds me of a conversation I had with my dad about 5 or so years ago when I found out that he'd been reading my diary. I was piiiiiiiiiiissed!! I didn't have anything crazy in there, "X looked so cute in school today, I'm happy he talked to me" and childish crap like that.

We had the cliche conversation about it, and yes he like every Nigerian dad said "remind me when you're 18" when I said "OMG, this is such an invasion of privacy."

I'm almost done with college, and when I'm home, I leave my email, FB, etc open. As a matter of fact, my parents both have a FB a/c. If I caught them going through my phone or emails, I definitely would find it weird but I'll understand cos I'll always be their little girl. My mum always goes to the airport with me, even when I insist "I can take a taxi".

Yes, to an extent, we are entitled to our privacy. But, I'm happy that my parents didn't respect my "privacy" to the extent that they stop checking up on me.

You can't always wait for the Nigerian gov't to do something. At least put a cone there for goodness sake to allow motorist to know that a trap is waiting.
True!!

CelebritiesRe: Video: Genevieve Nnaji And Omotola Jalade Ekeinde Interview by shilling(f): 6:41am On Nov 27, 2010
So proud of Genevieve. . . so articulate. The camera man is smitten. Wonderful interview on CNN btw.

Omotola, come on!! Yeah, she doesn't get global exposure but still - this is not her first interview. Why's she so nervous? Look at her hair. 4 hair pins would have made a HUGE difference. The phone, her arms . . .URRRGH!! Not a fan, but I expected more, she's been in the game long enough. This is the first time I've seen a "star" sms'n (or whatever she was doing with her phone) while being interviewed.

No offence to Omotola's fans, but you can clearly see who's the global one and who the local champion is.
CultureRe: How Do You Measure My Nigerian-ness ? by shilling(f): 8:49am On Nov 24, 2010
Interesting question. I've been called a fake Nigerian and I've always wondered what makes the next person more Nigerian than I am. My friend and I had this discussion last week and I remember him saying something about living there all (most) his life, and understanding the trials, pain and hardship felt by Nigerians more than I ever can imagine, so he's more Nigerian than me.

Even if a person wasn't born in Nigeria, isn't a citizen, doesn't have any Nigerian ancestry. Can't being Nigerian be a state of mind? Why can't an Asian for example love Nigeria so much, that they call/see themselves as Nigerian?

RomanceRe: Couples/lovers Sharing Passwords With Each Other: Advantage & Disadvantage by shilling(f): 2:38am On Nov 07, 2010
I don't see anything wrong with this, although I know it can cause problems. About a month ago, my best friend's husband freaked out after reading an email she sent out to her former boss.

I would give him mine if he asked for it. But, I wouldn't want his, cos I'm terribly inquisitve and the biggest snoop I know. When I'm at home with my family, I read their text messages, etc on their phones when I'm bored, just cos I want to know what's going on with them. Isn't that crazy?

If I had his password, I'd probably use it every freakin' day, just cos . . . sad In this case, the less I know the better.
RomanceRe: Should I Tell Her Under The Circumstances? by shilling(f): 1:55am On Nov 07, 2010
Your friend had a valid reason I guess.

Personally, if I knew a friend was being cheated on (not even necessarily my closest friend), I would tell them. But, that's just me. You're not under any obligation to do so, do whatever your heart/head tells you is right.

If you decide not to tell her, don't come to this decision because your friend didn't tell you because she felt she wasn't obliged to tell you ----> TO GET BACK AT HER. If that makes any sense. . .
RomanceRe: Is Jealousy A Sign Of Love? by shilling(f): 1:31am On Nov 07, 2010
MzDarkSkin:
It depends. Jealousy is one of those "spare of the moment" emotions. It is not long term or as deep as love or hate so it can be good and bad. "Good jealousy" is when you are talking to a girl and your girlfriend may stand closer to you to make her presense known but there are no hard feelings and its done. That type of jealousy is more of a "forget me not" type; again there are no hard feelings."BAD jealousy" is when you have a girl friend who wants to stab you just for saying 'hello' to another woman which is a sign of "possession" Possesive or obsessive people cannot know love! They view their partner as being their "property".
I agree with that!!

espn:
been jealous is the first sign of love, but their must b limitations.
Everyone has been saying jealousy is the first sign of love. Just wondering, is it possible to be jealous when you just "like" a person lol
To be honest, Omotola and Genevieve are no more on the same league. Let the truth be told. Whoever doubts God's favor will have a reason to believe it now
True True!!

Mobinga:
Over-hyped piece of poo
Who cares? This "over-hyped piece of poo" is the one getting all the attention. I'm sure "Omosexy" wishes she was also an over-hyped piece of poo.

Irrelevant, but I'll bring it up anyways: Judging by twitter followers. Omotola has been on twitter for a while now, Genevieve joined over the summer. . .

Omotola: 3679 followers
Genevieve: 12,952 followers.

Really? Where's the competition?

Genevieve is at the peak of her career in Africa. She now needs to do her thing in the West.

Omotola ------> local champion! smh.

Sorry, I had to write an essay - I felt inspired!

I really don't see a huge difference between Ivorian girls and Nigerian girls. Most of us have that typical W/African look. Ivorian guys can also be seriously HOT!!

All the Ivorians I've met have been really good-natured people.

About Miss IVC, she's pretty but why does she always look like she's falling asleep?
