@Ayomifull Did you convert your brother's salary to dollars yourself because I know Shell companies in Nigeria do not pay in Dollars. |
@Tampico Permit me to say I like your posts and enjoy the energy in your attitude but baby girl, the world is more than what we 'feel', feelings only find a place in books on Romance. There are things called commitments and responsibilities. Do you think married people automatically stop being attracted to the opposite sex once they get married? Nooooooooo! It is the vows and the fact that you have decided on your own to be committed to another individual that make you manage your other attractions if/when they come. Even as single people, do we all get married to our first love? Do we not fall in love again in life? So why do we think we have to cause someone pain and agony just because we feel 'something'. We are not animals Tampico, we are human beings capable of control and reason. If Richard took his vows with great responsibility, whatever attraction he felt towards Tatiana would have been better managed. It is just a normal attraction between a guy and a lovely lady (why did he not fall in love with Ofunika? ) |
@Rasputinn I can see you know wetin dey, but na only 'gbege' you mentioned o what about 'deve'? May God send help to the ND, help has not come, what they have are Jackals! |
I have heard a number of people say others do not know about the Niger delta and do not understand the situation. I am not from the ND but I work there and I am going to brief you on some things that happen and sadden me and make me to believe that nobody is figting for the good of the poor(masses) in ND, the Elites are just making themselves rich, the struggle is a selfish one indeed and it is a pity because ND villages are in need indeed. --A ND contractor to an oil company on getting a contract on the basis of 'local content' ( The current directive that puts the ND contractors at an advanteage) will refuse to pay his/her workers only for you to hear of his chieftancy title or new exotic car or even a new wife! The workers end up looking impoverished as they do not get the stipulated renumeration stated in the contract, the contractor tells them to resign if they know they cannot cope, infact an attempt of any staff to report to the oil company will lead to his/her doom . so you see ? Brothers enslaving brothers! ----There are some jobs that the oil company decide to give to the comunity they operate in e.g the tea girls in a particular oil company. Their salaries are far more than what some unfortunate graduates are being paid in Lagos and it requires no qualification beyond School Cert, but what happens is that the so called Youth Exco asks pple seeking for the job to bring a stipulated amount to have their names on the list to be presented to the oil company the most annoying thing is that if someone from another community is able to pay that money, he/she shall be given the job to the detriment of someone from that community so you see people from all over the country in contracts that are meant for the comunity. some of these youth exco even request that a certain percentage of your salary be given to them as long as you are on the job. You see these 'youths' driving big cars and living large and they are ready to kill to maintain that way of life because they do not have the kind of qualification/skills required to achieve that kind of life. ---Some few ND big men have been involved in oil bunkering for some time now, how have they helped their communities? rather they bought arms for young people to start 'the struggle'when their 'businesses' became treathened. I beg if I go on, my post will become a long epistle please let me stop here. |
MEND will be asking for trouble if they realy mean to carry out this threat, the mere mention of it can cause much Wahala, how do they expect OPC to react to such a pronouncement? siddon dey look? By the way what part of the country ( I mean real people-the masses) has benefited from this oil we are talking about? Where in this country do we have good roads, water supply, electricity, housing, jobs for the unemployed? ND complain about neglect and they are very right that they have been wrongfully neglected but please my other brodas and sistas for Naija, una get all these things for una place? cos me I no get o! |
Many things contribute to what we are or become. People who had to fight thier ways through life will never belief that a rational discussion about conflicting interests can ever take place. They are used to 'attacking' as a means of defence because that is how they have been able to survive the kind of environment they have been exposed to. I live in Warri and I know what I am talking about, the quite and reasonable man is a 'big mumu' in this place. But that also depends on what part of Warri you find yourself. |
I am an independent minded woman and I find it hard to even make demands (which I think is a flaw because there are things a guy should do in a woman's life, there is no love without giving) but I believe this is one of the numerous excuses men give for thier selfish acts. Is the guy stealing for himself or for the girl? Who is the one enjoying the girl's company and would want to do anything to keep it? The man is stealing to satisfy himself, to get him what he wants at that particular time. He is not stealing to satisfy anybody, why does he not walk away if the girl is the person being satisfied with the loot? I am sure every man can find a woman to love him the way he is but he prefers the one he will steal for, so whose fault is that? Please let us learn how to take responsibilities for our actions-That is being a man! |
@Jesoul, I never saw it from that angle before now, thank you for bringing a new thinking into this, that is why i like this kind of discussions. It is true that God cannot tell us to do what is bad for us, if we take a good look at those laws in the OT, God actually made some laws concerning health issues and general welfare of the people. Fro example, laws concerning leprosy were to guide against an epidemic. In the same line, it could be that God"s law concerning circumcision (in the OT) was for both spiritual and physical purpose. |
@Viperman You are indeed a gentleman and I respect you for the response given. Looking forward to doing business with you next time Congratulations on the car sale, we go wash am o. |
Thank God someone said circumcision is not a christian thing. Some people still think they are doing it for religion(Christianity)! I am also happy that this is being discussed because many people in Nigeria think it is absurd not to circumcise a male child just because it is not common around here. I get upset when people say something is abnormal for no reason other than the fact that they are not familiar with it. Uncircumcised male organ is ugly to you because you have been seeing circumcised ones all your life! another person may see the circumcised one as ugly too. It is the same way you may not fancy a white woman because she does not have 'ikebe' and a white man may not fancy a black woman because she has thick lips anda flat nose. Does it mean the two are ugly? By the way I have a circumcised son and it was my decision based on many things but I respect the decision of any other parent be it for/against circumcision. So please think beyond the limitations of your environment. |
@JAYON "thanks everybody for the comments, but i notice that most of the people that replied my post are Nigerians at home, i know you do fine bara but i didnot call your name,i said nigerians at home not generalising so don't panic' Is it a crime to be a 'Nigerian at home'? Anyway it is not only people abroad that nigerians beg for money, I was just discussing the high number of demands I get from people day to day with someone this morning. It seems one employed person in Nigeria is working for about 3 unemployed ones. Things are hard for some people and when they are in a fix, they reach out to whoever they can reach out to, although laziness should not be encouraged in any way. Mind you, I have never asked any one abroad for money in my life, even before I started travelling regularly myself, so do not think I am just giving excuses. |
@Viperman. I get your message, anytime you say 'brand new' we should take a second look as your own definition of brand new is different from that which we all know. Maybe we should have a list of your other 'personalised terminologies' and their meanings so that we can flow along with you, some of us are not used to these marketing thing. |
Someone already said Porto Rico(also Venezuela) and that is coreect. That country is known all over the world for beautiful ladies they have worn global beauty pageant over and over again. |
Someone said if you were giving your husband 50% love & care before you should increase it to 100% How? are you a Superwoman? In the midst of all the responsibilities you have to carry as a home maker and bread winner, how do you manage this effectively? You may even have to work longer hours at work because you cannot afford to tell your boss off since it is the only job your family depends on and you are expected to still care for someone's 'ego' when you get home? you can only do that for a while, it will taya you! no matter how many times you read Proverbs 31. Let one pray not to find oneself in that situation at all Men say some things about what they expect from a woman and they cannot do 1/4th of them. When a man is the only breadwinner, he is allowed to talk to you anyhow, he tells you how he has been working hard all day to feed you and 'your' children. You give him a list of the family's needs and he is asking you how you expect him to afford all you have on the list, he feels his salary is his own and no one can tell him what to do with it, some will even have a girlfriend on the side that is collecting her own share I do not encourage working wives to lord it over thier husbands but please let us be fair, and put ourselves (practically)in the woman's shoes sometimes. I beleive men who treat thier wife's well when they are employed will get an even better treatment if they become unemployed except the woman is troublesome Oh, by the way, is Nursing for women alone? Why can't the men also go and sturdy the nursing? is it easy? I heard that some guys from the US come home looking for girls with a Science/Medical background to marry, you want to use another human being and you expect her to sit down and watch you do that? |
Passing judgment or not, I do not see any reason for the rings. Why do you have to wear a ring when you become a Bishop? I am not saying the rings are demonic but are they (bishops)members of a mafia group? Where is that in the scriptures? The Bible says your heart is where your treasure is, so by the time a minister of God spends much time thinking about beautifying himself with rings, clothes, hairdo etc where is the space in his mind/heart for the things of God? |
@na2day, They may be rich but not lazy, hard work and determination might have actually got them where they are and they do not want to be dragged back. Haven't you heard that 'money begets money' |
Seun, you sabi your Bible well well! I was just going to say exactly that, Solomon made people very uncomfortable. God is the best judge of all these things because He knows the heart of man. It could be that He condoned what Solomon did because He knew that Solomon genuinely wanted to glorify God with the Temple. Some Pastors just want to use people to fulfill their own dreams and they back it up with scriptures. Giving to God as far as I am concerned is giving into the Ministry of reconciliation i.e winning souls. Many Missionaries in remote areas are battling with lack, I know a Missionary family in a village in the East that had to move out of his accommodation into an uncompleted building because there was no money. A few of us are just trying to see what we can do to help the situation. Last year another one in Gombe was being threatened by his landlord until we sent something down I advice people (if I am worthy to do that because the Holy Spirit is the overall teacher) to think deep(meditate) on their own and know what God actually requires and not allow themselves to be used for selfish desires. |
@Funmeme Your site (realestate) is scanty. I could not get any infomation on the listed projects for 2007/2008. I am particularly interested in the Lago/Ibadan expressway project but I do not know where exactly on the express way it is,how much it will be going for and the modalities for payment. |
What some people do not understand is that even if you are not bothered about the physical cash to be gained from a relationship be it man/woman, the things we are attracted to e.g good manners, good accent/good spoken english, dress sense, composure, good education/potential most times cannot all be obtained in Nigeria except your parents have money or comfortable at least. When I meet guys who say they do not care about what a girl has, I ask them why they have not bothered to ask the beautiful&pleasant Tomato seller down the street out? When I meet gals who say they do not care about material things I ask them why thier handsome Auto mechanic is not a good option |
Permit me to say that not only the people of Bayelsa can behave in this manner. If I rememebr correctly Tafa Balogun's people (from his village)were also asking the FG to leave thier son alone at that time. How many of us would still be saying all we are saying if we were related to Alams in one way or the other Like previous posters have said Nigeria is in a pathetic condition, we need a major deprogramming of our minds from wrong values that make gods out of very few and slaves of the rest and reprogramme with values that make human beings of all. How we can do this? I honestly don't know. |
Seun, God bless you! Let us see it from another angle, If a woman looses her shape and beauty after marriage people justify the husband's infidelity, you start to hear things like,'is this what you looked like when I/he married you?' So tell me why can't the woman also take a walk when the man looses his job? Why the doulble standard? |
