FamilyRe: If You Had One Gripe About Your Upbringing What Would It Be? by slimyem:
what's with peeps talking about anger and letting it all out...
The op didn't ask for advice or admonitions..
He said "if" there was one gripe you had about your upbringing, what would it be?
it also means "if there's one thing you could change about your upbringing"
Share your gripe..or keep your advice to yourself if you have none
Haba!
ITK plenty plenty!!

Jobs/VacanciesRe: Job Scammers Impersonating FLP Disgraced In Public!!! by slimyem: 8:52am On Sep 13, 2012
FlP is not a scam..its regular multi-level marketing and networking.
They do not recruit people too.
They invite you for their trainings and try to convince you to join them.that choice is left for you eventually!
.
Its just the strategy for inviting people that's deceitful.

Delafruita: it is sickening that people are so quick to throw such strong words around.from my understanding,FLP is a MLM company just like GNLD or EDMARK.people make money by introducing more people to the business.a few years ago, this idea of creating "vacancies" was implemented by some people in the MLM business and since then it became the norm.for them, they justify it with "the end justifies the means".when i was seeking a job,i also fell for it.i saw a vacancy for production manager in a food processing company and i called for more info.i was told to come with my CV to gbagada and it was when i got there i realised it was GNLD stuff.its quite dishonest to say the fact, but for anyone who gets pricked by the seminar and decides to join and eventually makes money,it would have been worth it.

methinks the FLP guys wanted to do same and the boss didnt buy the idea.but the boss made the mistake of disagreeing publicly because that would hamper their ability to use that "dishonest" strategy or any other one for that matter in the future
you are the only poster who gets the idea of what's going on here...
I have attended FLP trainings more than once..and in most cases,i only get to know its FLP when i arrive at the venue..
The trainers tell their downlines to invite people for the training...and not tell them its FLP and that it'll be discussed when they arrive.
Leshi just used this strategy and the MD clearly is just trying to wash his and the company's hand off the deceit..thereby making Leshi the scapegoat!

room702: don't get me wrong, i grew up an averagely Nigerian child too. like, we are suppose to be in bed at 9pm and always do our home work on time but He was just stern and too strict.
i wish he had taught me how to fight, ride a bike, played sports like football, table tennis/that sort of stuff...
when i left home and started socialising i realise I was way too quiet. should have spoke up more about things that bothered me instead of internalizing it, that turned me into a very angry person for a while
i didn't get you wrong..
I got you right..
I have no gripe with my upbringing/parents.
I got everything in their proportions...from punishments to love to admonitions to encouragements to discipline to choice of schools and morals in general.
Everything!
I might have had issues with some things and grumbled about them as a kid but now that i'm grown,i couldn't have wished for anything more.

FamilyRe: Can You Live With Your Mother-in-law? by slimyem: 10:07pm On Sep 12, 2012
Kobojunkie: If your life is about "It is what it is", I bet you would not leave Nigeria at all. The idea is a mentality can be and should be changed for the betterment of the people. Yes the overwhelming majority believe that it is an achievement but in reality, or in Naira sense, it really is not.
I'm afraid what's more important to the average Nigerian at the end of the day is having something to call their own..which is most times a landed property/house no matter how much or how long it'll take to get there.
It is the next most realistic investment/achievement in these parts..apart from owning share capitals which has taken a downward spiral over the last few years.
The consolation is in the fact that no matter how bad it gets, they'll get by as long as they have a roof over their heads.
FamilyRe: Can You Live With Your Mother-in-law? by slimyem: 8:58pm On Sep 12, 2012
whether you like it or not, whether it makes sense or not, owning a house is considered a major achievement in Nigeria and that's what most people strive to achieve.
You can blame it on people's mentality or blame it on society but that's what it is!

Um..
I don't think i have any..
I grew up the best way a average Nigerian child could hope for.
The only gripe i had as a kid was the fact that we weren't allowed to watch Tv/movies at all ...except occasionally during holidays but over the years,i know i didn't miss much...i gained more in books!
Infact,i'm thankful to my parents for being who they were and still are and i would most definitely train my kids almost the same way i was trained!
