africandollar: I think it’s stupid to put this Lilliputian in the same class as Ali or Tyson. Maybe for his weight category he’s the best but pound for pound if he faced of with Iron Mike at the same age he wouldn’t last one half a round with Tyson. Oga stop being naive jare. Which one is pound for pound? Iron Mike has more weight than Mayweather. so that is cheating already. if you want real fight then upgrade his weight to heavyweight(which might be impossible except surgically). If this happen i can bet that Mayweather will take out Mike Tyson in no time. He doesn't use power like Iron Mike. he is the best strategic boxer to ever exist. |

Olodonairaland: Light weight boxer. Local champ he should come and fight Anthony Joshua. Before I can rate him number 1 you dont understand boxing. punches is all about body weight. Mayweather by nature has been disadvantaged not to have such weight so he will never contest against any heavyweight boxer. if you can reduce the heavyweight champions we have now to lightweight, I can bet that Mayweather in his prime will knock out 80% of them and have a 99-100% win rate. He is one of the best strategic boxer I have ever seen in my life. |

Let's assume you r the man in this situation... You met your wife as a virgin, and you guys got married with 2 kids.. She's everything you ever wanted in a woman, honest, loyal, supportive, caring, understanding, a good mother to your children etc. Everything is going on well Except for the fact that she hasn't reached orgasm so she doesn't knw how it feels cause you r the only sex partner she has...
Unfortunately for u guys your house was invaded by 3 or 4 armed robbers and they proceeded in raping your wife in your presence... during this activity while she was been raped, instead of her screaming and crying from the torture and defilement, she was moaning and kept on saying "harder harder, pls dnt stop, faster!".. And she reached orgasm for the first time in her life, And all these happened right in front of you.... what would you do if you were the husband.... harder and faster And she was a virgin before marriage. Positivechick: I broke up with my boyfriend today,
I met him while I was serving, he was nice and the only friend I had, I served in a village. While we were serving he doesn’t give me much, I practically kinda fed him cause he was always in my place. He had a roommate and I didn’t. Before he gives me any money we always had issues, not like he doesn’t hv to give. He just doesn’t want to. I don’t even ask for much.
After service we continued dating, he had no job so I told him to get a teaching job he said never ever, he rather follow he’s friends up and down , I kept quite watching what his plans maybe, I hv never asked him for a dim since we finished service mid last year, got a teaching job so taking care of myself.
My birthday would be coming up, his just passed, I told him that I would be expecting some cash on my birthday. We talked today and he’s telling me he spent all he’s money for he’s birthday, that if money comes he will send but right now he has no money, placing me on the probability table, so I said u couldn’t keep the one u would send me, he said people were buying drinks and buying drinks and he couldn’t tell them to stop. Am like are u serious ? I had to remind him that my birthday is few days away and he started saying he won’t be able to send anything. I told him without him doing the needful that there is no us.
Am tired, he has no vision, No focus , no aim , he depends on his friends and it's annoying. I think about he’s future more than he does , he’s always in the present. He’s making me feel like a bad person that he would make it. I hope he makes it but the relationship is so draining and I am 100% faithful to someone with no sense of reasoning. He’s Saying I am dating someone that’s why I want to leave him. He isn’t even addressing the issue we hv on ground .
Thoughts?? You dodged a bullet o. The worst kinda of person to be with is a person that lack vision for the future. But on trivia note he is not responsible for giving you any cash for any birthday shit nor any other kinda stuff. The most serious thing I consider you said is his lack of prospect for the future. |

Sometime in 1997, there was a skirmish with the M**** Cult and they sent a hit squad after me.
They targeted when i would be most vulnerable- my final exams at 600 level.
Maybe i was distracted with the steeplechase exams the next day...maybe i was getting too old and careless.
I was walking alone that fateful night, dashing to get a cab home from the library.
There were 4 guys in the squad, all in blue with bandanas covering their faces.

The guy i assumed to be the leader, stepped forward and said :
"Capo your time is up. Blood in, blood out..... "
He then shot 3 times in the air.
People quickly shut their windows.
No good Samaritans! Maybe they were simply good Yorubas
"It would not be quick. Neither will it be painless" He added with a wolfish grin as he holstered the gun.
They all brought out the most evil looking shiny axes and machetes you could imagine .
Though i had taken many lives, i was very selfish about keeping mine! Who ever composed this did a amazing job/ |

bizme: No, I did not miss your point. Neither do I believe that we indeed actively watch criminal make criminal choices freely; by its nature crimes are committed where the society can not immediately intervene. And as dysfunctional as our society is, crimes are still committed out of sight, even though we have accepted the open commission of certain crimes (like police officers, soldiers, FRSC, etc collecting bribe on our roads, or domestic violence where neighbours refuse to call the police or to intervene).
Has the society made crime lucrative? Definitely yes. In fact a resounding yes. But this stems directly from the very core of our society, and no amount of homilies, prayers, and so on will put an end to this in the next several years. I will paint a picture here...
Few days ago my wife couldn't hide her shock when she learned that a graduate with almost ten years of post-graduation work experience is collecting less than N50,000 a month. This is someone with a family. His case is perhaps better than for most people who can't even get a decent job after several years after graduation. Yet in the same system we have those that through violence, thuggery, corruption, and nepotism attain to juicy offices. People who are rewarded simply because they committed crime. Abacha stole so much, yet Buhari verbally acquitted him of any wrong doing. I don't even need to go into our shared civil war history. Simply check out the pedigree of those that have led us and still lead us in the country. How on Earth will a brain-possessing citizen think about this criminal injustice in our reward system and wealth distribution and not feel justified to commit crime? Nigerians who are a million times more qualified and smarter than the children of the politicians end up (if they are extremely lucky) serving at the gates of the worst of us...
These and more are reason enough for any person to go into crime, for others depression is the alternative. So it seems as if committing crime is justified because of our social realities. Yet a choice has to be made by individuals how we respond to these provocative social realities. But the fact that we are at liberty to make that choice doesn't excuse us from the consequence of it. Unfortunately, like you rightly pointed out, there are many times innocent bystanders who are often caught in this cycle of vices. Exactly what I was trying to say! |

Also I was trying to help him understand that the choices of a person to be a criminal is also our problem because his actions as criminal is toward an innocent person and it could be any of us. |

bizme: Suffice it to quickly point out that we are not in the zoo you just pictured, making that analogy irrelevant in this case. And yes, we can go on as usual and blame the Society. Parents, government, security, you and I... In fact we can even get a little more dramatic and blame our favorite national villain the Devil... This is all allowed. Judges often deliver their homilies just before delivering their judgments, but they still go ahead to apply the full weight of the law regardless of whether the choice leading to criminality could have been discouraged by the Society... We all know the "Society" needs to be improved. We all know the Nigerian society has a long way to go... But I will not for a second describe a criminal who destroys the only society we have as the victim of the choices forced upon him by the same society. By implication in considering what a choice is, we ignore the imperative that compels it. The criminal justice system in the end is based on whether or not a criminal choice was made, and not so much how difficult or easy it was to make that choice. The law they say is an ass, and it needs to be an ass otherwise everyone will have a valid and often emotional reason to do bad.
A section of the society may be interested in what you seek to advance, the art of viewing the victim in the villain. This section should by all means continue preaching their social and moral reform to the society. Heaven knows we also need that. But for now, the other section is mostly concerned with whether or not you have made a choice deserving of corrective consequences (including death).
We shouldn't confuse the two. We have seen so many in this country who want to make a fatal mistake of succumbing to this type of confusion in calling for jumbo benefits for the murdering horde of Boko Haram. According to them the Society should take the blame for all the atrocities they have committed. Yes, by all means the Society should take that blame and be reformed to prevent those who are not yet criminals from becoming criminals. But the Society must not succumb to the weak and emotional argument of refusing to mete out appropriate sentences to those who have committed these crimes. In the end we can not so much indulge criminals using the argument that we do not yet have a perfect Society.
PS: To engage in constructive exchange you should try removing caustic and personal attacks from your words. There is simply no basis for you to say I'm in a tunnel. We are not all children on this forum. Cheers. You missed my point clearly, I never said they were criminals because of societal choices. I am saying the society has made crime lucrative and made the life of a criminal easy to live with. We can't continued to watch criminal make choices freely, the consequences of their choices is for all of us to suffer. |

dangotesmummy: o really? It is in this same nairaland that a guy was sharing his experience of how he always sees a 17 year old boy in his street wake up and sit in front of his house Early in the morning and always loafing around the streets and so he said he called him one morning and said why are you always sitting down the boy said he does not have work and the guy said well he's an electrician and he is ready to teach him the skill for free and give give him 15k every month so that after he finishes the learning he heoo can be financially independent and take care of himself and his family as well as pay his bills the boy said the money is too small that he will only agree to learn the skill of he's paid 30k monthly and so the guy saw that this boy was unserious with his life and not ready to learn so he left him alone
So what's the point of this short story, many of this boys you see on the streets idle, they're suffering from a disease called laziness, entitlement mentality and big fast money.they just want to be mumuing around and then millions will drop on their laps
.you think if that description of the boy I gave you and many of his him like see a street urchin who told them to join cult with the deception of turning them into millionaires, they won't happily join cult and carry guns to be constituting nuisance about? You didn't read my post. whether laziness or entitlement problem. The consequences of evil doing exceed the scope of the evil doer, for this simple reason, society must pay close attention and provide mechanism to prevent people from living happily from their poor choices. |

bizme: No, it stops at they made their choice.
The best societies on Earth have people who make poor choices. We cannot always blame society for those choices. Even for elections, being enlisted as foot soldiers for dastardly acts is still a choice they have to make.
Choices are free, but their consequences aren't always. Let me help you out of the tunnel. Take for example we are in a zoo and a small boy then walks forward to the cage of the lions and through his lock picking skill, he opens the lion Cage. You could say it was his choice. You're very correct. Now here is the complication, now the lions get out, it will take out the boy who is the first victim. But after that the innocent people follow. So here is it, people make choices but the consequences aren't always their to bear, the ravaging beast knows no Friend, it attacks and tear everything it reaches. Now back to the original story, this cultist are making choices but we all know the consequence of their choices which is killing, maiming, robbery and hooliganism, corruption of young mind and the list goes on. which by implication means that the consequences falls on both the victims and the perpetrator and many times this victims are innocent victims who didn't make this choices with them One way we can prevent the lion cage exploit later in the future is to improve the locks, double the doors, place a watching eye towards it. we are not going to fold our hands and just say it only depends on the choices of people. we can implement heavy punishments in the future but this wouldnt safe victims incase it happens in the future. In simple words we have to make the choices of people harder especially when it has long term consequences outside the scope of the owner who made the choices. The society( parent and government, security, me and you) are responsible for making this choices harder but instead we have failed grossly and have instead of doing anything, we are busy massively looting, staying in denial, self lovers, indifferent and narrowly minded and corrupt with everyday practice. I hope I have cleared the air, they made their choice and it end there but they don't always suffer all the consequences, it comes for anyone in proximity. |

dangotesmummy: it is in this same bad society that some people became medical doctors, lawyers, millionaires etc.abi shey my son get 2 heads?
A failure will Always have an excuse and something to blame while a winner will always see success in the midst of a failed environment You're wrong, not everyone has the strong will to make good choices. some people became millionaire because they have a good drive or just become they had a strong will to make good decision. This is not about the blame game theory, it is an extensive view into the truth. No body ever just turn into a criminal. please where did they get those guns? Who are hooligans been used during elections? The problems of criminals in our country is everyone problem, the day you jam them in a corner one on one that day is the day you will wish all the successful people has put down their heads and improve security and created platforms to absorb them. Don't ever pray for a society were it is easy for criminals to roll around how they like and initiates our young minds easily into their dark theories, don't turn a blind eye and say "na dem sabi". it comes for all, it is like a ravaging dog, it knows no one and anyone is his victim. |
