The purpose of vaccination is NOT to prevent infection. It is meant to get your body accustomed to a virus in case it needs to fight the virus ( get infected). It is too early in the morning for this.

Vaccination is practice for your body on how to fight a full infection. When you get vaccinated, your body is introduced to some parts of the infection. It is like a practice test before the actual exam. When you eventually have to sit the actual exam (infection), you are less likely to fail if you have practiced. There are people who will still fail, nothing is perfect in this world.

The purpose of vaccination is to strengthen the immunity. Your body gets to understand, know and learn to fight this virus at a small scale. When you are infected, your body knows what to do. The virus is no longer a foreign enemy, of is known and it is easier for your antibodies to dust it off.

This means many vaccinated people can fight it on their own. If they need hospital admission, they are more likely going to spend fewer days in the hospital or require ntrusive medical treatments.
