FamilyRe: Opinion: Any Married Woman Who Pays Her Own Bills Is Single. by Sterope(f): 4:39pm On Sep 28, 2021
In this capitalist world, the roles aren't cut and dried anymore. Back then, in ile Yoruba, women worked and still took care of the home. The roles are clearer with the rich. I once read an excerpt (it was on twitter) of a book and they mentioned that one of the reasons the slavers took your women was also because you worked them like men grin. Think about that for a second. A child on her back and farm produce on her head after tilling the farm with you. The interesting part is you will still see this form of madness in Nigeria.

A lot of married Nigerian women have always paid their own bills. We know them. The ones working in schools, banks, ministries, even market women. The complete separation of roles where the man is 100% responsbile for bills is a foreign concept. The foreigners have even left that behind a very long time ago. Your average Nigerian man is too poor to foot his bill and his wife's bills. grin

That house chores you don't want to do, you will do it by force grin
FamilyRe: Life As An Albino (my Experience) by Sterope(f): 4:23pm On Sep 28, 2021
Yoruba movies can't pass on ridiculing albinism or people with disability.

Mariangeles:
The way they even portray them in our movies make matters worse for them. Like an object of ridicule not worthy of any respect.
If stares could kill, no albino would exist.
Then, there’s a Nigerian tribe that has this superstitious belief of a pregnant woman most likely to birth an albino child if she stares too much at an albino.

According to some reports, they’re are even hunted and killed like animals for some kinds of ritual in some African countries.

TravelRe: Diasporans How Much Do You Spend In Nigeria During Visits? by Sterope(f): 12:38pm On Sep 28, 2021
Personality, lifestyle and the type of people around you play a big part in how much you end up spending. I am a big believer of cutting my coat according to my cloth. A million should be enough.

Transfer your salary to your wife so she doesn't
nag you.

I say don't transfer your salary so she doesn't nag you. What exactly is the problem?

The idea is not bad I would rather it depends on trust, their financial and marital goals and the partner that isore financially responsible.

Kobojunkie:
You are still suggesting that a man should be the one to spend the money on behalf of the family rather than the woman here. undecided

Also, what issues are there to avoid that are avoided when the man is the one spending the money for the family? undecided

Lmao. It is going to shock you that many western families still have the same traditional roles with a modern twist. Many wives and mothers still cook and do most of the chores. Blame divorce rate on women's access to 'ego' and in other cases, common sense smiley.

Dapcity007:
That's why western societies with equalist relationships are divorcing at 50% Marital rates and Marital rates are declining, except a man is in charge, that marriage will fail, these was a know fact for most of history in every civilization and era, divorce was so rare and family values were sacred until mordern day Feminism via Egalitarianistic-Equalism ideology
FamilyRe: Men That Their Wives Are The Breadwinners; How Do You Cope? by Sterope(f): 10:41pm On Sep 25, 2021
No. It is because it doesn't make sense to me. I have had my fair share of budgeting for the family at a very young age. If the man is responsible, he can spend his money for the family without giving all to his wife 'to avoid issues'.

Kobojunkie:
Because you don't believe you are capable of handling such responsibility in a marriage? undecided

Uhn

I am a woman and I won't support such advice. wink
spice123:
My brother, I was out of job for like 6 months and wife took care of all the bills excluding rent and school fees and nobody noticed or knew I was out of job. No negative attitude showed up and I will tell you why. A close friend gave me this advice and I will share same with you. When you get your salary or business profit, remove your t-fare/car fuel and give the rest to your wife to manage the home. I was very hard for me to do but t I summoned courage and since 3+ years I started it, I have complete peace. Infact, my wife was praising me on how I was able to pay all bills and manage funds. By the time your wife will mismange the home funds (feeding, rent, kids sch fees e.t.c) she will wake up and realize that paying for gas in the home is the least issue. You will have utmost respect bro. I have been married for 7 years now.

The ordinary Nigerian can't follow his passion because it is common sense to follow money when you are from a poor country.
Lucas4903:
It is because they follow their passion and not the money that their family already has. The ordinary Nigerian is a worshipper of money and will do any and everything to get money including selecting courses they feel it's gonna be a high end return one. At the end no one is actually following their passion but the money.

EducationRe: FG Bans SSS1, SSS2 Students From Taking External WASSCE, NECO, NABTEB by Sterope(f): 2:42pm On Sep 24, 2021
A lot more average students write external WAEC than prodigies. undecided
Martinez39s:
In sane countries, there are special classes for prodigies and gifted children. These children are even given the room to flow at their own pace as long as they can handle it, even if they will be many years ahead of their peers.

Here, they don't want brilliant SS1 and SS2 students to write ordinary waec, instead they want them to unnecessarily waste time. In this country of all places. I SMH for this country. Why not overhaul and reform the syllabi of secondary schools instead?
EducationRe: FG Bans SSS1, SSS2 Students From Taking External WASSCE, NECO, NABTEB by Sterope(f): 2:40pm On Sep 24, 2021
They can test their preparedness in the confines of their house. Their schools can hold mock WAEC for their third semester exams. FG should not be paying for these exams. It is an unnecessary cost.

kingphilip:
Most SS1 and SS2 pupils who write these external examinations at that level do so to test their preparedness for the examination.

Most of them still end up doing SS3 because before the result comes out, the next session would have resumed.

I think they should also ban the writing of Primary School leaving certificate in Primary 4 and 5 if that is the case.

This measure won't solve anything. They should let those kids be!!!

Shey they don't want those examination bodies to be posting outrageous profits ni?

And if they don't pass?

Shey no be money dem waste?

Older parents can keep themselves busy with activities, religious associations or charity causes. They can even offer to babysit or look after children for the younger couples around them.

Winneygirl:
Career biko.

No one was born into this world to be a spectator.
You can make something of your life.
People are talking about taking care of children. Children will grow up and leave the parents behind.
Children are not a retirement plan. Anyone thinking their children will "take care" of them in old age should ask themselves, "am I taking good care of my parents in their old age"? There are many retired parents who are still paying school fees for their children.
Do you know what the future even holds? Please build a source of income for yourself and your wife for old age. Your old age is only as sweet as your income at that time.

Career for both man and woman!!!
