My town is not a coastal area where White people could just waltz in. Nobody is doubting there were raids or kidnapping prior to the 1900s (not in my town), but there was also a willing trade between the two or three parties if we include middle men. The first white people that stepped into my community were missionaries and this was in the late 1890's. My people were already selling slaves with the Aro as middlemen to the Whites. There's no history of raiding in my town, it was a willing trade. It was until the 1900's the British had a firm hold on my land. Our own colonization can't be more than 50 years, not hundreds of years.

There was a very intelligent black boy in my sons class in primary 1. I told his mother to send him to me to his home work but she did not take the offer. Now she has come back the boy is doing so badly because the parents can`t motivate the boy and help teach him at home. Now the child is not to blame but the society. The parents too were part of the circle. There needs to be intervention from outside to break this circle.
Those white families you are posting where brought up in different circumstances and have different opportunities.
Go look at black that grow up in decent homes, they excel and are doing great, jut that they do not care much for the joint cause.

Only God knows what Nigeria had to give up for the sake of independence.

But at the same time I don't fixate on racism or colonialism as much because if we had visionary and intelligent leaders ready to play the same game we wont be in this mess. The West looks out for their people. When the black man starts putting the interest of his people before the pittance and fleeting self gratification he would get that, we will make progress.

Africa boasts of stark illiterate elites who are not visionaries. This was the same mentality that sold us off to the whites, collecting mirrors while the whites were collecting slaves to build their societies. This tactic still runs today where African leaders are mere pawns for their White masters. Dunno if you know Dambisa Moyo. She argued why the West was more interested in giving Africa charities rather than demanding that African leaders provide jobs to their people or help in providing sustainable incentives to Africa if indeed they wanted to help 'Africa'. The remaining population entrenched in mass poverty perpetuate the recycling of these less than visionary elites using either tradition and the unabashed worship for wealth to keep them in. In Nigeria, the middle class which comprised of the educated class and was supposed to be the voice of the society was literally killed off by the military. Who can we boast of today in our political circles that have visionary ideas, that does not have a tribal, animalistic and primitive stench to his ideals?

In summary, we need the elites (of which most are not visionaries, but can provide the finance) and an educated class (comprising of our best in the land) to build a network that can take us out of this mess!
