GboyegaD: Because I like them and they have meanings I like for the ones I like. More so, as a Christian, my religion permits my child(ren) to have Baptismal name. Most importantly, my last name is an English name and I love it that way. Actually, your child(ren) can be baptized with their native name. |

Our parents generation were fooled to believe you have to give your child an English name (after a saint) for the child to be baptized especially in the Catholic Church and I think it's still the case in Nigeria I was willing to do a first name: native (father's tribe) middle name: native(mothers tribe) and an English baptizimal name but I was informed he didn't need an 'english name's so I dropped it. I have an English middle name and when foreign colleagues ask if they can call me by it..I always tell them no. If I can pronounce your name, you can pronounce mine too. And I make sure they pronounce it properly no matter how long it take us |

purplish: Yes, of course I know everyone's experience is different and definitely did not mean that the baby is not fine if you are not vomitting. I have read several medical articles that described vomitting in pregnancy as a side effect of doubling HCG levels and great development of the placenta which is a good sign. Only referred to it to encourage her I understand your point. I just didn't want a first timer who isn't vomiting to think something is wrong with her baby. People get worried when they don't get MS, I did too initially until I was assured all was well. |

rhosmherhy: good afternoon mummies. please, i need advise on what to do. i am battling with vomiting, i eat knowing that 1 hour later, i will still throw up. it is exhausting cos right now i am in the office and very weak. i dont have a single strength and i just resumed from leave today. i have vomited like 5 times today. i am 10weeks gone. please any advise on what to do or take will be highly appreciated Pele. Like other Mamas have said, small portions of food, don't drink water immediately after eating, you can try peppermint/bitterkola/ginger. But if the vomiting gets too much, see your doctor. |

Jesuisbeni: No, I haven't. I was just wondering why you categorically stated it wasn't fibroid even though you haven't done a scan. Go to a lab and get an abdominal scan done and they'd find out what the issue is. |

iamhistreasure: Goodevening mama's,went for antenatal today and was given paludrine as part of my drugs. Please is it safe?I'm just 9weeks Paludrine is antimalarial. Don't remember if it's routinely given or if you have to show signs of malaria to get one. It's proguanil and they're generally safe in pregnancy. But don't collect medication without asking and re-asking who's issuing the drugs if it's safe in pregnancy. |

Eizenburg: So what’s the implication of the above? From responses, it’d seem that a lot of people are unaware of this. Recurring cases of miscarriage. |
Family › Re: Have You Ever Lost A Very Good Relationship Due To Genotype? by sugah: 6:06am On Jun 23, 2020 |
dj4tolex: Shed more light on this for people to learn @doveflies One option is: the couple get pregnant naturally and an amniocentesis test (chorionic vili sampling) is carried out while she is still pregnant to screen for sickle cell. If the foetus has the disease it will be aborted. Unfortunately, the testing process itself could lead to miscarriage Second is: IVF with PGD(pre genetic testing). You should already know how IVF works....but before the embryos are transferred they are screened for sickle cell disease and only embryos that are free of the disease will be transferred to the woman. There's a possibility that all the eggs harvested during one procedure will have the disease and there'd be no embryos to transfer. On the other hand, you can be lucky like the couple I know and have 2 good embryos to transfer at once and have twins. IVF is a 75% chance of success but PGD for sickle cell disease might reduce the chances But it's still better than having a sickle.cell baby |

Munzy14: hmmm, Very risky something.. unless the couples av agreed not to give birth, rather adopt..
A renowned medical doctor went ahead to marry his AS wife, And today they have two SS with some carriers... Just their only daughter was AA... Out of 6. IVF with Genetic testing if there's plenty money... Invitro testing and aborting SS foetus although emotionally draining |
Family › Re: Have You Ever Lost A Very Good Relationship Due To Genotype? by sugah: 10:55pm On Jun 22, 2020*. Modified: 11:19pm On Jun 22, 2020 |
Truth is, there's a way out for both AS partners to marry without having SS babies but it's both emotionally and financially draining. I know a couple who's gone through it but I don't think they'd wish same for their enemies.
They did invitro genetic testing and had to abort the foetus each time the result is SS
But there's also the option of IVF with Genetic testing. |

FlordFlorez: U mean rhoGAM? Is rhoGAM injection 100% assurance irrespective of abortion? Besides, most women who need it cant afford it. Apart from the cases of previous abortion without the injection, the injection is effective. It's less than 30k for the injection. |
