“Niger Republic produces oil and they are landlocked as a country. They have a refinery that produces in excess of what they require as a country and they offered to sell to us in Nigeria because this is a bigger market.
seunmsg:
The part in bold is an indictment on Nigeria’s government. It’s such a shame that we can’t refine what we require locally. If Niger republic is refining more than her needs, we have no excuse to still be importing petroleum products from anywhere at all.
Well said,

The president is the current Minister of Petroleum and in 6 years of holding that position, he has failed to pass the PIB, repair the four refineries or sell them.

It's obvious that the government is directly complicit in keeping the refinery in a comatose state while earning money from importing refined products at the expense of Nigerian health and foreign reserve.

This is what state capture looks like.

Rubbish imagination, for lack of vision my people perish, please tell me what Okowa & pdp did with 218 billion in 2108, & 219 billion Naira in 2019?

Under the present formula, the Federal government gets 52.68% of all statutory revenue, while states and local governments get 26.72% and 20.60% respectively.

Revenues from Value Added tax (VAT) are shared differently, with the Federal Government getting 15%, States 50% and Local Governments 35%.

States with the highest FAAC allocation.
Delta state got the highest cumulative FAAC allocation last year, among the 36 states. The state got a total of N213 billion. Closely following is Akwa Ibom state which received N202.3 billion in 2018. Rivers State takes third place with a total of N172 received as FAAC allocation in 2018.

States with the lowest FAAC allocation
On the flip side, Osun state had the smallest FAAC allocation last year. The state received a total of N22.84 billion. Next was Cross River which received a total of N36.95 billion in 2018. Ekiti State was next with a total of N39.3 billion as cumulative FAAC allocation last year
You just don't get it, starting your response with APC vs PDP is why Nigerians can never understand the need for restructuring.

Nigeria is made up of thee large nations Yoruba's, Igbo's and Hausa and many smaller nations, the British that created Nigeria were aware of this structures, that's why they supported the creation of three federal regions with independent revenue generation institutions.

The current structure can never work. Why should 50 million Yoruba's or Igbo's take orders from a president based in Abuja?
Politics › Re: Osinbajo: Nigeria’s Problem Is Not Restructuring by sulaak(m): 7:55pm On Nov 12, 2020
IamWonderful:
Very correct, if there is effective management of the available resources, restructuring will be useless, most states don't have much IGR to sustain a state, some will be malnourished and some will be well developed
How can you have effective management in a structure that allocate the majority of the resources to the least productive region? The least productive regions control the army, politics and economics yet the outcome is insecurity, poverty and underdevelopment in that region.

Restructure Nigeria into six regions will force each region to develop its IGR.

They are borrowing to import agricultural machinery from Brazil when they should be borrowing to assemble agricultural machinery in Nigeria. Very soon they will borrow to import spare parts for those machinery

They say that the tractors will be locally assembled but I have not seen any evidence of factories being constructed to assemble the tractors and does Nigeria have the supply chain to support assembly plants in terms of electricity, steel, glass, tyres, skilled labour and efficient logistics.

Brazil needs to sell manufactured products to boost their economic so the government is loaning Nigeria $1.2 billion to buy stuff from Brazil that we need but can't afford.

I am 50-50 on this loan, the investment mechanised farming will improve productivity and is better than giving erratic farmers loans that would be wasted on more wives and housing.
The initiative is a Nigeria-Brazil Cooperation Project Agriculture.

She explained that the loan which would majorly be provided by Brazilian government, would be provided in kind through the supply of agricultural machinery and implements in the form of Completely Knocked Down, CKD, parts.

The minister said: “The project we are launching today will be implemented with a total loan package of US$1.1 billion majorly from the Brazilian government, which will be disbursed in four tranches over a period of two years.

Speaking at the programme, the Brazilian Ambassador to Nigeria, Ricardo Guerra de Araujo, said the $1.1 billion contract includes 10,000 tractors to be assembled here in Nigeria, more than 707 centres to be established to train not less than 10,000 Nigerians. He also said the project aims to create over five million new jobs, especially among the youths.

Who are the terrorists?

Walton, who kept camels, sheep and poultry and grew mangos near the border with Nigeria, was kidnapped by six men armed with AK-47 assault rifles who arrived on motorcycles at his home.

His wife, young daughter and brother were left behind.

The Reuters news agency has reported the perpetrators appeared to be from the Fulani ethnic group, and they spoke Hausa and some English.

Niger has faced a growing number of attacks by armed groups linked to ISIL (ISIS) and al-Qaeda.

I think the government is taking your advice. The deal with Siemens is supposed to improve the distribution network.
I don't trust a deal that has no concrete strategy, how will Nigeria fund the Siemens deal and how much will it cost?

The deal agreed to last year requires Siemens to boost transmission capacity, to 25,000 megawatts by 2025, from 4,500 megawatts. That will help end incessant outages and ensure the inclusion of about a third of the population of more than 200 million people now excluded from the grid.

Siemens plans to implement the project in phases, starting with the initial phase of resolving current inefficiencies in distribution and transmission while upgrading capacity to 7,000 megawatts. The second phase will target 11,000 megawatts.

While Lagosians are busy waiting for Tinubu, Fashola and Ambode and Sanwo-Olu to complete the Blue that they started in 2008. The Pakistani have completed the Lahore Metro that was started in 2014 and completed in 2020.

Pakistan (Lahore's) first metro line opens to passengers in Lahore

In May 2014, an agreement was signed so that the construction of the Orange Line could begin. Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif signed the agreement at a ceremony alongside President Mamnoon Hussain and Chinese President Xi Jinping. The project is estimated to cost $1.6 billion.[7]
Pakistan's first metro line has begun commercial operations in the eastern city of Lahore.

The 27km (17-mile) Orange Line, with more than two dozen stations, will drastically cut travel time across the notoriously congested city, reducing a two-and-a-half-hour bus journey to 45 minutes by metro.

Officials expect about a quarter of a million people will use the system each day once it is fully operating.

"This project will provide world-class facilities to the public in Lahore," Punjab state's chief minister Usman Buzdar said during Sunday's inauguration ceremony.

The project cost 300bn rupees (£1.4bn; $1.8bn) and welcomed its first paying passengers on Monday after years of delays and political controversies.

It was built with Chinese backing and there are growing questions about the huge amount of debt Pakistan has taken on in recent years.

The British police have arrested Adeyinka Grandson, president of the Young Yorubas for Freedom (YYF) secessionist group, in London over his social media posts against some ethnic groups in Nigeria.

Grandson, a UK-based Nigerian of Yoruba descent, is known for his social media attacks on people of Igbo extraction as well as criticism of the Hausa-Fulani.

On Tuesday, the Scotland Yard Counter Terrorism Command arrested Grandson for allegedly “stirring racial discrimination” against the Igbo and Fulani ethnic groups and also “encouraging terrorism”.

After being grilled for nine hours, Grandson denied any involvement in terrorism or encouraging racial hatred and said YYF only supports the return of Nigeria to the regional system.
