Christianity EtcRe: On The Most Blessed Virgin Mary- Teachings Of The Early Church Fathers- by Syncan(m): 10:36am On Aug 05, 2013
superior1: Hello Friends, there has been many activities here and that is good for us.

Acts 17:11
New International Version (NIV)
11 Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true.

Even Paul commended the Berean Jews for their diligence in checking what that they are being thought if they were true. So, if i ask you for clarification on your doctrine, you should commend me and then respond accordingly. When taught by your priest, you should go home and confirm how true is message were.
I asked you for clarification on why you believe in the bible as the sole authority, you did not attempt an answer, yet you want to use it as the basis of judging our practices.

Now even the bible does not claim what you attach to it, These are from the bible.

"And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen". (Jn21:25)

"Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle". (2Thess2:15)

I am still waiting for the answer to my question.

Can I ask you a question?
Please do not bother.

Isnt it time you now answer my question? Why do you take the bible as your authentic Gods word alone. Why not the Jewish Tanakh or the quran?

Amen.Lord, make me an instrument of Your peace. Where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; where there is sadness, joy.

O, Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console; to be understood as to understand; to be loved as to love; For it is in giving that we receive; it is in pardoning that we are pardoned; it is in dying that we are born again to eternal life. (Francis of Assisi).

May we be "all things to all men"...and for your sake only, for everything else is vanity. Amen.

Where in the Bible were we asked to pray through and in Mary's name?

superior1: You are entitled to your thought, I asked a question first and wanted you to answer it before I responded to yours (which you raised after mine). Answering questions with another is it the best way of explaining your believe. If you can't answer it, give room to more knowledgeable Catholics to do justice to the question.

Where in the Bible were we asked to pray through or in Mary's name?
Yeah, in another thread, for a similar circumstance, you accused Italo of not being knowledgeable enough in the catholic faith, now I am the one not knowledgeable enough. Thanks "your Omniscience", it is well noted. Since you've discovered this, why not enlighten me on your knowledge and start answering mine.

superior1: You have not answered the question, where? If there isn't, then answer so
Exactly my thought. You came hear to ridicule and not to enlighten nor learn. I should show you where something is written in the Bible when you have not told me why the bible should be the Judge, and not the TANAKH or quran or any other book for that matter. Ok keep waiting.

Where in the Bible were we asked to pray in or through Mary?
Thats the point. Why the bible?
Christianity EtcRe: On The Most Blessed Virgin Mary- Teachings Of The Early Church Fathers- by Syncan(m): 10:18am On Aug 04, 2013
superior1: All Christians are blessed just like Abraham was and we don't pray in Abraham's name. Can you show where in the Bible we are asked to pray in the name of Mary?
If I may ask, why do you believe that the "bible" and not the Jewish "TANAKH" for instance is the authoritative word of God?
Christianity EtcRe: On The Most Blessed Virgin Mary- Teachings Of The Early Church Fathers- by Syncan(m): 6:35am On Aug 04, 2013

italo: So I just found out this poem was wrongly attributed to Pope Francis. He never said or wrote it at the WYD or anywhere else. The poem has been on the internet from as early as 2010 and has sometimes being attributed to Blessed John Paul but that too is unproven.

However, it's still very beautiful, true and relevant.
Aha, Oga Lacum please try to edit asap.
Christianity EtcRe: Gays Can't Accept Jesus. They Can't Be Born Again. Oiseworld And Åll Interested by Syncan(m): 10:08am On Aug 02, 2013
I do not know why there is so much noise about this really. The church and the Pope continue to see any sexual acts outside the marriage institution as a sin for those who believe in her teachings, whether you are gay or straight.

You are gay when you feel sexually attracted to same sex, you are straight when you feel sexually attracted to opposite sex. These in itself are not sinful, the earlier is only termed to be a disorder while the later is in order.

I wonder why the pope will judge a person who sees himself as gay;but seeks the lord and does not have sexual acts outside marriage...which of course the church will not grant him.

Though being straight is in order, it is still considered a grave sin to have sexual acts outside marriage, as recognized by the church. This is called fornication and adultery.
Christianity EtcRe: Pope Francis: We Need Saints by Syncan(m): 9:38am On Aug 02, 2013
italo: I have a feeling this piece will be read and quoted and remembered for centuries.

It's a classic.

Just like St. JoseMaria Escriva would say: (paraphrasing) Sainthood/sanctity is not meant for religious (priests, nuns etc) alone. And we dont have to live where we are to be saints. We are ALL called to be saints, right where we are. At work, school, malls, bus station...we will be saints if we do all we do for/with the love of God.
True talk.
Christianity EtcRe: Pope Francis: We Need Saints by Syncan(m):

Amen. May we always pray for the priests, led by the Bishop of Rome, that they be preserved in holiness of life, as expressed in "...Moses and Aaron and his sons washed their hands and their feet there at" vs 31. So that just as Moses recognized and did "...according to all God commanded" vs 16, They may as well be illumined to recognize Gods desire amidst this rapidly changing society of ours, and as well possess the courage to lead the way.

No body is stopping the publicans from coming into the synagogue but when they come in,we shall surely tell them the truth and not condone their negative practices in the name of not wanting to be judgmental ! Let us say the truth at all times even if it will lead to our bein persecuted for the sake of the WORD(Christ)!

God bless us
That is what the pope is saying. It is impossible to encounter the lord with goodwill and remain the same!
Christianity EtcRe: Pope Francis: Who Am I To Judge Gay People? by Syncan(m): 11:10pm On Jul 30, 2013
m.k.o2005:
Why discriminate against any one ?
Is telling the truth now discrimination? Why not correct wrong doers ? Christ encouraged us his apostles to lead people to God through HIM by showing them love, not condemning them but correcting them when they err and not letting them alone in the name of not sounding or appearing to be judgmental !
Zacheus sought God,found HIM and changed. But not to say 'so long as i'm seeking the lord and engaged in good deeds it is okay to be gay and can't be judged by any one ' That's the common interpretation of the pope's statement !
Who are my to Judge means a thieve can not be corrected, advised or shown the truth right ?
Joel Oesteen an american televangelist was one time asked by Oprah Winfrey if gays will go to heaven and he said he doesn't know, that it is up to God to decide ! He was heavily criticized and his was even mild ! Even gays said 'show us the stand of God on the issue and not to claim ignorance or encourage us by the use of subtlety in words to support our negative practices'.I think as a custodian of God's word,we should lead people to God and also show them what the WORD says and these we should do with love like a dad who correct's his erring child at home.Unless we do not believe D WORD!
Please note that when you deny gay people from bein priests and been joined as gay couple in RCC simply means you are marginalizing them and not wanting to integrate them into the society going by the pope's statement !
God knows i'm not out here also to condemn the pope for his comment but to also join others in analyzing the implication of his comments using the WORD as a basis ! I pray the 'church' comes out tomorrow to rephrase this statement bringing it in right standing with God not minding what men thinks !

God help us
You talk a lot, but hardly listen. Zacheus you said sought for Jesus and found Him. Allow gay people who seek for Jesus to find Him. Then what He did to Zacheus will be done to them.

Let the publican come into the synagogue you pharisee!

Jesus died for us all while we were yet sinners and not after we repented but he never encouraged any man to continue in his sinful act. Thanks for telling us something about the adulterous woman. Christ forgave her and asked her to go and sin no more. And did not tell her that so long as she has accepted HIM(CHRIST)and continue to do good will, that it is okay to continue to be adulterous ! He asked her to 'GO HOME AND SIN NO MORE' ! You also said something about Zacheus, apart from the fact that Christ died for all sinners,Zacheus himself desired ALSO to be with Christ(Climbing atop a tree to get a glimpse) no wonder he was also recognized by Christ. Christ showed him much more love becos even as a sinner that he is,he desired a change of heart ! Christ wouldn't also had been happy if he had continued in his 'sinful' practices havin been shown much love. The love exhibited by Christ led Zacheus to full repentance ! Have you wondered why Christ said to Just one of the two thieves with him on the cross that he will be with him in paradise that same night ? One desired change but the other refused.
Let us pls bring every one to the knowledge of Christ for them to encounter change and that is not to play down of the words of God !
God help us
Very good.From your post:

1. Zacheus desired to see christ...

The pope says, gay people who seek the lord...

2. Jesus visited zacheus house...

Pope says he will not judge such people...

3. Christ led zacheus to full repentance ...

Pope wants Christ to do same again...

Note that christ did not lead zacheus to full repentance from a distance via discrimination.

Not allowing gays to be priest going by the document signed by pope Benedict in 2005 will be marginalizing gay people going by the statement of pope Francis ! Integrating gay people into the society will also mean allowing them to be priests and also conducting gay weddings in the roman catholic churches. Any attempt to deny them of these rights(priesthood and weddings in the roman catholic churches) will mean they are been marginalised.

God help us
Pls don't mix up issues, Adulterous individuals live with us in the society, how marginalised do they feel? Yet the church refuse them divorce or polygamy? Jesus allowed sinners close to him never meant he encouraged their sinful acts, he however knew that coming close to him grants them the grace they need to turn a new leaf. At what point did zacheous turn a new leaf, before or after Jesus good gesture to him? Let's learn from the master please.

Thank you Sir, I wonder what part of my speech you are quarreling with. I think you should rather watch it lest you turn yourself to the pharisees who rebuked Jesus for allowing sinners come near.
