Sincere 9gerian: Good development. The 'retardinhos' will evade this sort of thread because it makes them convulse
They have evaded it very well so far..like I said previously: hit-and-run tactics and all that.

They also evaded this thread I commented on previously: https://www.nairaland.com/1132104/fg-completes-installation-secondary-solar

Many of these ppl have insulted GEJ to high heavens for his 'inability' to provide alternative power systems for airports and lightnings for domestic runways when the news of the 11 remodeled terminals came up (even though these conditions were there b4 now and oda govts failed in rectifying them), yet they evade from info showing that these things are been done (in some cases, completed).
I would keep pushing that thread and the info therein.

Just a mata of time as more projects come to completion.....

Maleeq: Hmmmm, guys, there is a big conspiracy here. Follow me on this and see the light.

Firstly, NOI's mother was kidnapped and the kidnappers demand $1bn ransom. That NOI and GEJ are buddies isn't news. She doesn't have the ransom so she approaches GEJ. Days later, GEJ suddenly requests NGN161bn for subsidy for december offset.
The blackmarket rate of dollar to naira is about NGN161....Do the maths, its equal to the ransom figure of $1bn shocked
GEJ meets with senate last night, gets approval for the NGN161bn, and like magic, NOI's mum is released this morning!!

Who is fooling who? Who kidnapped NOI's mum? Those demanding the subsidy??

Politics › Re: Installation Of Solar Power Supply Completed In 6 Airports by taharqa: 2:07am On Dec 14, 2012
Oh, well well @OP. Just saw this now straight from the mills:

Five years after the unveiling of the rehabilitated domestic runway of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, the Federal Government will, in a matter of days, install mobile airfield lighting so that aircraft can land there in the night.

Domestic carriers have clamoured for the installation of airfield lighting on this runway, known as Runway 18L, because during the evening and in the night when the runway is not allowed to operate, the airlines lose money on wear and tear of their aircraft and on fuel burnt while the aircraft taxi from the international runway to the domestic terminal (MMA2) or the General Aviation Terminal (GAT).

THISDAY learnt that it is the Nigeria Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) which is now in charge of providing airfield lighting at the nation’s airports that facilitated the project and that the mobile airfield lighting would be an interim measure until a permanent one would be installed next year.

It is not only the Lagos airport that will benefit from this runway lighting as NAMA has planned to install the facility at other busy airports to ease air services and improve safety, especially at Yuletide.

In addition, NAMA has also installed digitalised airfield lighting at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja as back-up in case there is disruption of the fixed lighting which was installed recently at the airport.

A NAMA source told THISDAY: “We are deploying emergency airfield lighting to the Runway 18L and other airports as back up to the conventional ones while we still continue to work on installing permanent airfield lighting at the airports that do not have them now.
“Factory acceptance tests have been conducted in Dorset, the United Kingdom and we are installing them any time from now. We expect the shipment of the equipment and immediately they arrive we start installation,” the source said.

Nigerian domestic carriers are said to lose over N1.5 billion annually to lack of runway lighting, which also compromises safety standards of the airports.

The former Managing Director of Aero Contractors, Akin George, explained to THISDAY in a recent interview that lack of runway lighting in Lagos alone costs the airline N60 million a year and lack of night operations at the other airports in the country also cost the airline $35 million (about N5.454 billion).

George said: “Airport infrastructure needs to be overhauled; lack of runway lights in Lagos alone cost Aero N60 million a year, lack of night operations at the airports is a loss of $35 million and lack of lighting of taxiways means a drastic reduction is safety of passengers. Failure of runway lights in Lagos, Abuja, Enugu and Calabar has cost Aero an additional N40 million in 2012 alone.”

Also the Chairman of IRS Airlines, Alhaji Isyaku Rabiu, once commented on the effect of not installing airfield lighting on the domestic runway of Lagos airport.

He said there were many problems of infrastructure at the airports, remarking that in the last five years, domestic carriers could not land after 7:00 pm at the domestic airport runway 18L in Lagos.

“We have to land at the international airport. That, you may think is not much but it is a lot of money that we waste in doing that. It cost money on your wear and tear, on tyres, on your brakes, on your airplanes and on your engines and fuel burnt is excessive.

“Sometimes, you get held up at the threshold because there are so many airplanes coming and it is practically almost being done manually. And it takes time waiting there burning fuel and wasting a lot of time. For the airline and for the passengers, it is a negative thing.”
http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/5-years-after-mma2-gat-get-runway-lighting/133515/

The lighting of the domestic airports runways, which you complained about is been done as well after many years of failed promises from previous govts.....

GOOD....this would imply that the Foreign Reserves would have increased to between $48-$49billion!

The Govt kind of met the target of raising the Foreign Reserves to $50billion and the Excess Crude Fund to $10billion from abut $32billion and a little above $4billion at the beginning of the year. The FISCAL Disciple of NOI and Co is obviously working....

Mr MOD or MODS, abeg this is the 1st time I would be coming here and asking you guys to take a thread to the frontpage.

But I believe a thread that provides info and updates on the onging PHCN Privatization process is important enough to make it to the frontpage. The major obstacle to the conclusion of the process/final takeover of the unbundled cops by the preferred bidders ie the Labour disputes bw the workers and the Govt has FINALLY been resolved. A thread like this would enable us to keep abreast with the process, and enable anyone that have any other info to present same. This privatization program is arguably the most important in this nation's history and deserves to be kept in the public glare as much as frequently as possible.

Thanks.

I KNEW ALL ALONG THAT GOVT. WANTED TO CHEAT NIGERIANS WORKING IN THAT SECTOR.
HOWEVER, THEIR STRENGTH OF RESISTANCE HAS PAID OFF FINALLY.
KUDOS TO THEM.
IT WAS NOT THE WORKERS THAT HINDERED THE PRIVATISATION PROCESS.
IT WAS GOVT'S INSINCERERITY.
ONLY ONE PERSON IN GOVT CAN EMBEZZLE 1 BILLION IN ONE HOUR.
BUT TO COMPENSATE PEOPLE WHO HAD WORKED FOR 20 YEARS IN PHCN IS A BIG PROBLEM FOR OUR THEIVING GOVT.
CONGRATULATIONS TO THE OUT-GOING STAFFERS OF PHCN.
Oh well, am actuali not honestly interested in who 'won' or who didnt in the negotiations; I am just happy that this knotty OBSTACLE has been removed and that the Privatization process can be finally consummated without much hindrance.

By the way, from the article I think both sides shifted grounds. But if the workers are more happy with the Agreement, I say Good for them. I also wish them as quick a disengagement as is possible, so the new private bidders can take over and give the nation stable power.

Am nt interestd in dis topic, but abeg stop spitting LIES as it relates to d FOI bill. 'GEJ had nothing to do wit it'; 'it was neva an executive bill'. What d helll are u talking about? Do u know d history of dat bill?.... The bill was d 1st bill or so introducd to d NA by civil society groups in 1999, and Obj allowd it to stall there as much as possible; and when he saw dat d bill may pass, he unitarally withdrew d bill from d NA in an extremely unconstitutional move and unda d guise of 'National Security' removd certain parts of d bill and sent whateva was left back to d NA. This eventuali destroyd any chance of d passage of d bill b4 d end of 2003. Afta 2003 in Obj 2nd term, d bill startd its checkerd journey again 4rm d start , and even in d face luckwarm rxtn or even subtle hostility from d Executive d bill eventuali passd b4 2007 largely in d initial form Obj wantd, yet he refusd to sign d bill saying dat he didnt like d Title of d bill! (of course it was actuali cos neither himself nor most of d ruling elites wantd to pass a bill dat wud throw open d activities and 'secrets' of govt to d open).
