It is a complete shame that we cannot be provided with accurate information regarding his health. Instead, grown and seemingly responsible men keep telling lies and throwing their pride into the gutters! There should be an established system to manage a country in any ruler's absence. It clearly shows that this is lacking here as several things (one of which I read is handover by military chiefs) are on hold awaiting the president's return. In developed societies, people will be correctly informed at every stage of the situation. This current state of affairs leaves much to be desired about the progress of our development. Our Leaders simply do not have visions of where they want to take us to and are not ready to change and make progress for our country. |
Mpele:You need to go to the chinese hinterlands and see poverty to try and compare Italy with China! It is not the gleaming buildings in beijing, Shanghai or Shenzhen that you will safely conclude that China is a fantastic country. Overall quality of live, GDP per capita and other more economic, social, political factors are what you should be looking at. Nigeria to me is third world. Go to some othe countries like Brazil and see the difference between them and Nigeria. we are not even in the same class! However, there are still many things you will see or experience that make countries such as Brazil not to be in the same class as most of the European and north american countries. |
Yes they can marry and code their future! |
SMC:Excellent response! |
@Poster You need to demonstrate strong ties to your country of residence as any applicant for a U.S visa is considered an intending immigrant. Don't know much about German visa. Oga Sarge:LOL benincitys:Yes they can. Even U.S faoni572:Book with a credit or debit card |
An alarm rings in the heads of Immigration Officers when they see a Nigerian passport. It is like red Alert!. ![]() |
Old wine in new skin? Changes nothing! |
LOL ![]() Poster, this is supposed to be a joke I presume. Anyway, na only Black American? How about bleaching your skin make you turn white and become white American! |
It is the worst bank in Nigeria! Antiquated policies and little sense of customer service. |
yes you can travel for holidays and don't need a visa except you have been convicted of any crime (such as evading bus and train fares). ![]() |
salsera:Its quite a long time ago I found myself in the lubricants sector so I can't remember the different formulae anymore . I leave it to the current experts ![]() |
@Ivvie has provided enough points, but just to add more, Engine Oils are typically a blend of Base oil and additives. The additives are special chemicals that are added to the base oil (sort of ordinary oil) to enable it function properly at different temperatures, with the right viscosity (fluid movement) and also protect the engine. After each blending in the plant, the different mixtures formulated are usually carefully tested in the lab to meet the requirements of different vehicle engines (including motorcycles), hence you have different types of engine oil for different engine types. Usually, most of the oil people buy off the streets (I mean those that are not sealed and usually measured in cans) in Nigeria have very minimal additives added to it and hence not good for your engine. That's why they are cheap, as additives are very expensive and will make the lubricant price high. You need to get the right oil for your engine and you shoud be able to get that advice from a good mechanic or filling station store or from the manual of your car. |

@Disguy, You funny oh! Anyway, nobody has mentioned TV licence of £139.5 Per annum . That's how BBC TV is funded and we are able to watch their TV programmes. TV licence evasion leads you to jail!jay bee:Its a pity man! Imagine 500 quid out of your salary every month! Life here in the UK is different strokes for different folks. Lots of Nigerians are doing fine and others are managing to survive. As the saying goes, you cut your coat according to your cloth, abi na size? Overall, it is expensive but peaceful (though not for Teens with all the stabbings). The higher you earn, the more you get taxed. Its okay for me here and am enjoying it. At least I see where my tax goes, can plan my life and come home to electricity! Can you use Microsoft money to budget and plan your finances in Naija? no way! Once you step out of home in Lagos, its difficult to estimate how much you will spend during that day ![]() With the Free movement across Europe, many Nigerians in other European countries have moved to the UK. They feel more at home here than in Germany, Austria or Italy, e.t.c. Have met a few and know some. |
boro43:Is that your idea of a very impressive performance? No doubt it was good but not very impressive! |
@Akolawole I meant getting visa of other countries in London and not Nigerian visa. |
Naijas get oyibo pali ![]() Oyibos no get our pali and no fit get am E hard o! If you like, live in Naija for 40 years, them no go still give you pali. There are some countries that may also have this policy and I have tried to understand the rationale behind it, but can't seem to. Anyone got clear rationales for or benefits of the policy?I knew one oyibo who had lost some rights in his country in Europe (except his pali) because he has been living in naija for about thirty years. Yet he has never been approved for a naija pali. As for getting visas now if you live in London, it seems to be as difficult and time consuming to apply for a visa in London as it is if you applied in Lagos or Abuja! What have we done!!! |
jay bee:Before something can become working, it ought to have gone through a process! So that can't be discounted. Yes, Casing is less important, but can gates, JK flip flops, time delays, programs hang in the air without a casing? Most Engineering functions complement each other. Turbines that generate electricity do not fall off the sky! They are designed and manufactured. Lets not go into pay matter. I like Elect/Elect and recognise its importance, so lets not waste time on which is and which is not important. |
jay bee:There you go! I am now in trouble with you!!! ![]() Who does the designs of the moulds and other components and oversee fabrication of the street light casings or housings? Certainly the mechnical/Production Engineers. I guess you may start asking me about each and every item in this world, when I did not say that Mechanical Engineers create every item ![]() |
jay bee:It should be apparent to you that Mechanical is very broad and critical to other Engineering functions. Most engineers rely on equipments designed and manufactured by mechanical engineers to carry out their jobs. How easy will it be for other Engineers to function without design, thermodynamics and fluid mechanics? Remember that fluid includes air and not only liquid. If you require, I will expatiate on how aeronautics, civil/structural, chemical, petroleum engineers ,e.t.c rely on mechanical. For your info, I am not a Mechanical Engineer and only trying to be objective here. The point is not to deride other Engineers or Engineering professions or show them as less important, as I am one too (but not chartered as I don't need to be)! |
I would advise you go for Electrical/Electronics or Chemical Engineering. You've got several career choices with both of them especially as Nigeria moves towards industrialisation. Civil is okay, but largely geared towards housing in Nigeria. Petroleum is also good in Nigeria, but may be a little restricted if you want to have choices. Mechanical is very broad as you can work in many industries, but fewer females tend to study Mechanical. |
E be like say I don miss action here! This Nairaland fit make person loose him job for non performance if person want to keep up with posts .Touareg V8, if you no perform, Proforma invoice go follow and container go land Naija. Anyway, I am sure you are working hard at delivering.Caruso, Na wa oh! Why dem use ban kill you tire from nairaland? Anyway good to have you on this thread. |
fyneguy:I had exact same experience. Was a "star" in my first secondary school and when I changed school after one year, I struggled to survive for a term in my new school and finally found my feet in the second term. Overall, it made a difference to what I am today. I believe that it may not have been same story if I had gone to only the first school. |
nkc:Thanks for the advice, I will be on my way to buying one as soon as I am able to. ![]() Anyway, the fuel stations here already provide Fuel with High RONs so no need for me to buy thinner. |
nkc:Alright. I can go to B&Q and get you more paint thinners. ![]() |
yemmight: ROFLMAO |
Dr Kitaun:There is no denying the fact that students of Fed and State Unis are more rugged judging by what they experienced. But we do not need such ruggedness to survive in a normal society. When I said people that studied in Europe and america and who had it good in school are working in good Companies, I wasn't refering to Nigerians and not companies in Nigeria. just reminding you that these students did not suffer in school, yet their output at work is good and their economies are doing fine. And to the point where you meant that Peeps from foreign universities have issues when they get back to Nigeria, yes they ought to. Afterall, the peeps are coming from a society where there are some differences in how work is approached and completed, so why won't they have issues initially. It will take a very tolerant person coming from overseas to overlook some of our natural attitude to work. |
Dr Kitaun:How does the usual suffering/challenges students face in a Federal or State university prepare them for the challenges in Zenith bank, BAT, Exxonmobil, Unilever or PWC (e.t.c.)? How are Graduates in European and American Universities able to work successfully in Major companies in their countries without going through the kind of challenges some of us went through in Universities in Nigeria? Bottomline is I don't believe that you must suffer in school to be able to face challenges in the workplace. We are even getting to the point where we consider the abnormal as normal in Nigeria . Most of the graduates in Private universities are not from wealthy homes as people perceive. Their parents have decided to sacrifice to ensure that their children went to these schools. I know several of such parents. Are all the graduates of these schools not working in the same offices as some of you are or leaving for schools overseas for their masters? In the Long run, how much do some people spend even to get accommodation in other non private universities in a year? Tiny bedspaces and corners go for multiples of tens of thousands of Naira in one year in some of these schools and what does all the various expenses students incur add up to in a year? Of course now that you are enjoying the big bucks in the workplace, you have forgotten all the challenges of even registering on the first day you stepped into school. ![]() |
Okanran:Of course it is the wrong location! Or how else would he want to put Miss wrong in a right location? Anyway, Mr Right, Mrs Right, Mr Wrong and Miss Wrong have all set high standards for themselves. So at what point is there a compromise? |
Is there any shame left for people to still have? I thought all our shame had been used up! |
nkc:Can I join? or will it become a crowd? |
fotodaddy:There you are! You just got yourself fuel thinner! Enjoy your ride ![]() |
