Nairalanders I need advice. I've been dating this girl for more than a year. But I have couple of challenges:

1) She doesn't like to visit me except for a few times. She claims to be a virgin and says I might be tempted. That I need to pay her bride price before we can do all those. At times I wonder if there's something she's hiding.

2) Each time I try to break up, she sheds tears and involves her family members sometimes to beg me.

I like your funny and inefficent economic policy. We have tried and are.trying it. It isnt working because even monopolies need to make money to buy stuff to improve their service.

I'm sure you should run your own business at a loss or let government set the price since you think it is good.

My fiance works in a company, which doesn't give him time to come home or live in his rented apartment for long.
I currently run a confectionery shop in my father's house.

My Fiance however wants to have a joint account with me when we get married soon in this my confectionery business. According to him, he'll support me, to help him get free in the future to stop his salary work and probably start another business without affecting the family.

But I don't want to have any joint account or partner with anyone in this my confectionery business. I want my business without any check or partner.
He's insisting on joint account to run the business and its getting into our relationship.

Please what do you advice?

First off, this topic is directed at those Christians who believe aborted babies definitely go to heaven to enjoy forever and ever. if you're a Christian that holds a different opinion to this then this topic is not meant for you

This topic is based on 4 premises

1. Abortion is murder
2. Aborted babies go to heaven
3. many/most of the babies who get born into this sinful world stand a chance of falling away from God/Jesus or living a life of sin
4. Christ came to die for the sins of the world because he desires humans to make heaven.

If you are a believer in premise 2 then it makes sense to encourage abortion as a way of saving many souls that may end up perishing in hell. Of course I need to point out this only focuses on the aborted baby not who's doing the abortion. a "Christian" doctor who performs about 200,000 abortions in his lifetime would've automatically ensured salvation for 200,000 souls even though he (the doctor) doesn't make heaven in the end it's still a worthy sacrifice of one for 200,000

if you're a Christian who believes in all these premises and have no argument against it then you should encourage abortion rather than preach against it.

Electricity bill in summer is €300

1.Nigeria is not supposed to make profit from MTN and company. MTN and company are making enough profit to operate here...because they are not subsidised.

In return we get jobs, direct and indirect, tax revenue, etc.

2.Because we are a resource dependent economy. Have been since independence. We sell raw materials whose prices we do not control. As a result we don't earn enough money, and have to borrow to make the difference. Associated looting...since most of our money comes from revenue from selling raw materials, not from taxes....looting is made easier...makes the matter worse.

And yes, it annoys me to no end that Nigeria does not want to get off oil, and industrialize.

1Tax income is too low to produce good enough supporting infrastructire..we rely on oil money which is not enough (and the looting makes things worse).

2.Power is subsidised to a point it is not profitable ...and thus they cannot pay for things that would improve generation, and suchlike.

3.We import. And it stifles job creation

4.Police has one tenth of what the NYPD uses to police 25 million people to police 200 million people.








Either way, government cannot set prices below the cost of producing power....and expect the companies to have the money to buy turbines..whether produced at home or abroad.

Oga, you don;t get it. Government is setting the price of power at a price the sector cannot afford. As a result they lose money.


Compare with GSM...GSM companies can set whatever price they want...and they have enough profit to import all their equipment, which they use to provide service.


WOULD YOU WANT GOVERNMENT TO SET YOUR PRICE AS A BUSINESSPERSON (and I insist you answer this question).?

Well, it isn't government that would produce the consumer items, it is people. And as someone said here elsewhere...people aren't interested in setting up industries.

Also, for industries to run well, you have to set up small scale industries that would build the components...for the big industries.

But when people aren't interested in doing that, buteither want to import or to get government job.....

Subaidy removals in the past, are partial removals (It took me some time to understand this, so I am not defending government...I had the same question over 12 years ago).

At some point it becomes difficult for government to maintain petrol at price A, so, they reduce the amount they spend subsidising petrol , and this manifests as a rise in prices to price B., which government subsidises to. Once it becomes diffiuclt to stay at price B, rinse and repeat.

That's been happening since the 1970's. It's why petrol no longer costs 15 kobo per liter, like it did in 1981.

So long as government sets the price, there is a subsidy.

1.It is chopping all the excess dollars we should be getting from the rise in oyel prices, on top of the debt we have to pay off due to 8 years of low oil prices from 2014.

2.It is stifling investment in the petroleum sector. If it costs over N300-400 to refine one liter of fuel, and one has to sell it at N165 per liter, why invest in a refinery.? The hardy few that are investing in refineries are taking a big risk.

3.We are essentially subsidising fuel not only for Nigeria, but for other African countries.If petrol costs N165 here, and N300 and above in all our neighbours, why won't people smuggle.?


Yeah, inflation. But the truth is, we don't have the money. Yes, politicans, but what we are spending on subsidisng petrol this year is more than what any pol can loot this year. And yes, Buhari, APC , PDP etc are bad leaders, and yes, I don't like them as much as you do.

Nigeria has spent 413 trillion naira on fuel subsides between 2006-19.That's money that could have been used for education, health, transport, etc etc. And the more the oil price rises, the more the cost of producing fuel rises, and thus the cost of subsidsing it.

PPS: By supporting subsidy removal....it does not mean i deny the existence of , or the negative effect of corruption on this country. So stop quoting me about how corrupt this government is. 1 Life is too good to have been evoluted from nothing

2 life is not too perfect to have been created.
I don Know if there is a theory out there that support this but I can call it created evolution mean in a way it seems we are created to evolve something like that

Fate and survival of the fittest which exist among us is not a part of supposed creation because they lack purpose which is creation
