Billyonaire: Why is EFCC parading these young guys for trying to survive in this bad economy? Should they rather come rob us with guns ? Come to think of it, those items and cars dont really cost money compared to the loot of our commonwealth by politicians. Who is fooling who ? I hope they start arresting state governors and ministers. That was the original assignment, not arresting chicken thieves. Not that am supporting yahoos oh. Stay off little crimes, go for billion naira crimes where u can make IG an offer he can not refuse.
If you want someone to tackle corruption in Nigeria, why are you a fervent supporter of GEJ?
Alams and Anenih are free men today...

thelastPope: This is a fact and it isn't new. Go and check all the news and even threads on NL dating back as much as 3 to 4 years and you will see it clearly. Alameisegha was the biggest factor behind the Niger Delta amnesty.

Whether you agree that that is enough for him to get pardon is another debate entirely. But it is a known fact that Alameseigha was the man that got the militants to drop their arms and accept amnesty. He still remains a respected leader because of what he did for those guys over the years.

You will be fooolish to expect that those youths will throw him under the bus because of his corruption case when he has really helped them for years.
Alams my backside! MONEY was the big reason why the MEND criminals dropped their arms, not Alams. The GEJ administration basically promised them a massive payout, replete with jaunts in the top hotels in Abuja, beautiful mistresses and exotic cars...and they still get to make billions by illegal bunkering!

Despite nearly N100b budgeted for amnesty, more than 150,000 barrels of oil are still stolen everyday, with the blessings of these 'pardoned' warlords who are tasked with the security of the pipelines. Fewer pipelines are being blown but more oil is being stolen...with the tacit silence of the GEJ administration.

Let's not turn this into another whose got the most fanboys beyween Apple and Sammy thread
You've never been a Sammy or Driod fan
Innovation has been on a decline for some time on ALL phone ecosystems i.e. Driods,Apple,Blackberry,Windows
All we have are mostly hardware and software upgrades and reboots going by which iPhone 5 was so early 2011 when it hit shelves last year
You don't outsell iPhones and all other Driods to be king of the smartphone pile if you don't have a SERIOUSLY WOW FACTOR
And this factor has waned down greatly from 2011 till date
You couldn't be more wrong. I switched to Android April 2012. Currently I use a Galaxy Note II.
I don't expect innovation all the time. All we ask is for Samsung to make better designed phones.

Samsung didn't outsell the iPhone...and their massive sales are more due to massive advertisement and massive global rollout than any 'wow factor'.

Innovation,yes but design nah
For that look to HTC and Apple
Renowned for innovation? Samsung? You're kidding, right?

Most of the 'new' features they announced have already been out there on other platforms for a while.

Samsung are masters of copying...as usual....and their copied features are touted as 'innovation'

If i had entered a private uni like him and read a 4 year course, i'd have been out at 19 years of age.

Aside from that, excellent achievement on his First class. Wish him more and more success!
galaxy s4 mill have 8 cores. 8! Most of the high end HTCs use tegra 3 chips which are "system on a chip" gpu and cpu in d same chip. leading developers say that all those extra cores are useless in the tru context. In a quad core MOST apps dont utilise the 2nd,3rd & 4th core. Only d 1st core is used and overworked. Then *some* system apps utilise the other cores. developers make apps with mostly only 2cores processing in mind. Only HDgames use aall the cores. Basic day to day running of the fone uses only the 1st core. More cores which we are being offered does not mean a better fone. A5 or exynos? Exynos trumps d A5 and kicks its balls in benchmark performance. But really, dual cores do the job. What we need in smartphones are good UI and better stock software.
Actually, much of what you put there is untrue. Very many UI and stock app elements are multi-threaded and make good use of multiple cores. Developers say most apps don't really tax the CPUs that much, not necessarily that most apps run single threaded.

I don't see where anyone was talking about the A5 here. The SoC in the iPhone 5 is the A6. You need to specify what Exynos variant you're talking about...the generic 'Exynos' name doesn't refer to any specific chipset

Toroze: i completely disagree with the above, i do not wish to argue it out but dude google that again, do ur comparison and be sincere to urself maybe the have better gpu but u can't compare the cpu of ip5 to that of some droids
I specifically mentioned 'on release'. The A6 in the iPhone 5 absolutely trounces the S4 in many of the flagship Android phones, the Tegra 3 in other flagships like the One X and is in the same performance range as the Quad Core Galaxy S 3 international.

You can head over to Anandtech if you need more confirmation.

Of course the newer S4 Pro SoC in the likes of the NExus 4 and the LG Optimus G are more powerful, but that isn't saying much since newer is almost always more powerful.

4llerbuntu: @ Texazzpete, i went to The MTN store on the island to buy the Z10, 2 units for some pple

i met 9 people there who either were buying, or came back with complaints (so far the data issue on MTN is murky, we still dont have mobile data working on our units, and the Z10 does not connect to WEP wifi for some strange reason)

The guy i chatted up there told me they have moved about 17thousand units from that store alone. mostly bulk purchases sef.

im pretty damn sure MTN will move 100k units this month nationwide. the prices WILL DROP and other models will come out

as much as i don't get any joy from BB or WP or any OEM issues, i do believe BB will get 3rd spot conveniently grin grin grin grin grin

AND back to the discussion, no its not true what you say about benchmarks and specs. remember when you used to hark on about how android had dual and quad core phones but the OS cant even use the Cores? how android needs large ram and still is not as fluid as IOS etc etc

no need to revise history bros, i am not in the mood for hunting down posts on a phone

its surprising that you now join the specs and benchmark wagon

all these pple talking benchmarks sef dont even know what those benchmarks are and actually test, AAANNDDD they dont really count after a particular point sef in reality.

something YOU know.

aoh and yes Unlocked bootloader counts like hell it does. ask every jonzer that ever stumbled on XDA. i flash kernels with stock samsung recovery. i can do ANYTHING with my samsung phones ANYTHING. and i never unlocked a bootloader

i install stock rom and do everything right there on it, i can even flash a stock rom from right in the phone. on Sony ericsson u need a cable and a PC to flash a kernel
You still can't explain how they'll sell 100k of these units in one month when their total BB subscriber base (which includes all the cheap curve users) won't be more than 1.3 million, if that.

40 million Galaxy SIII users inthe world. I doubt up to 10% of that number have ever heard of XDA. Heck, I doubt up to 20% of Android users even bother to root their phone.

Wait until March 28th when BB announce their earnings and tell us the sales figures for February and early march. Nokia sold 4.4 lumias in 2 months previously. Launches in China and India should even boost that number. I doubt BB will sell up to 1 million Z10 phones by March 28th

I'm not sure what 4llerbuntu is babbling about, but he's wrong as usual.

4llerbuntu: How it is you people simply believe that everyone other than yourself is foolish is beyond me.

according to you now HTC is better than Samsung?

amusing to see tex also quoting and supporting "specs" and "benchmarks" after all you have said on those points in the past.
I have always concerned myself with specs and benchmarks. I believe I rolled out an entire thread once showing how the iPhone 5 dominated anything on Android in GPU power and was comparable to or surpassed nearly everything out there as far as CPU specs were concerned.
Amnesia, huh?

4llerbuntu: according to you people too, its "advertising" thats responsible for samsung dominance.

i see............

if u miss the forest for the tree, you dont need glasses, you need a eye transplant.
Actually, advertising is the biggest reason for Samsung outselling the One X. Things like removable battery and SD slot don't faze the majority of smartphone buyers. The iPhone and the past two Nexus devices are a sterling example of this.
Samsung's marketing budget for last year is reputed to be the combined marketing budget of Coca Cola, Apple, Microsoft and a few other companies. The Olympics pretty much plastered the GS III in everyone's faces. Ads depicting stuff like Smart Stay were memorable (and cool enough) to stick in the heads of viewers.
of course there are other reasons. Nobody else (apart from Apple) have the resources now to rollout devices on a global scale with such frightening rapidity. They have access to components on the cheap as well as a robust supply chain. So not just marketing.

Anyone who believes Samsung outsold HTC massively because of 'unlocked bootloader' has to be a very weird person indeed.

4llerbuntu: Windows Phone is already forgotten, except of course by that random guy who always goes nuts on NL when u mention WP8. apparently he still has not convinced enough people on NL to adopt his craze grin grin grin grin there's precious few WP user hereabouts no?

The blackberry Z10 just launched in nigeria. went to purchase 2 units for folks yesterday at MTN.
From the little observations and questioning of MTN staff, they must have sold close to 100,000k units and its just one month in, and prices are yet to come down.

By december, with release of other models, BB will have outsold WP.
Windows Phone is gaining ground in most major markets around the world...and with the new low cost Nokia Lumia 620, 520 and 720, i expect to see decent sales. Not too many Nigerians will go for WP just yet but the numbers are growing and will grow more when local carriers pick up the 620.
WP has been launched in China this year and lower cost WP devices are now available in India. There are no low cost BB10 devices on the horizon.

BB10 has ZERO chance of outselling WP globally this year.

There are approx 3 million BB subscribers in Nigeria. If you truly think up to 50,000 Z10 units have been sold in Nigera, I am genuinely sorry for you. Poll your BB owning friends and see if the conversion rate (OS7 to Z10) now is up to 5%.

4llerbuntu: my point is, what exactly is you people's point? that we are all foolish for not trumpeting HTC? not dropping our plastic, Innovation-less samsungs?

Like we were foolish to not have jumped on WP in droves, singing OIS camera, and glove useage?

or for not being smart enough to buy Apple?

which one?

if you cannot think of, or know very valid reasons why sammy went into the lead then leave the SSheep alone. u cannot tell them how to spend their money.
I'm not sure why you're babbling about Apple and WP here. My point is, there are at least 5 different topics here with people creaming themselves over the S4 and talking about 'eye scrolling' like it's the second coming of Christ. I'm pointing out that it's annoying that HTC is getting no attention even with their excellent design, daring attempt to innovate with software and their top notch hardware. This pattern is what we see replicated all round until Nobody apart from Samsung gets a chance at decent sales. Do YOU like Samsung's overwhelming Android dominance?

If you think a vastly superior marketing campaign is not a 'very valid reason', i'd advise you to lay off the crack cheesy

The Beam: Sir,
While your line of argument initially looks correct, logical reasoning points out that your conclusion that he's the best ever candidate for the job, based on the wrong assumption that the strength of his qualifications alone make him untouchable by all other candidates is faulty.

Certs and books do not necessarily make a person the best option for a role. There are several other factors to consider and while our past DG may have possessed these in abundant quality, there might just be someone better out there.

So if we should base our arguments on so and so awards, then OBJ (arguably the worst leader in Nigerian history) should have been left as life president so as not to upset the balance and he had loads of awards too. I mean he still chairs a lot of committees on Ecowas and AU boards.

NB: I'm a Nigerian and I don't belong 2 any tribe.

In 1976, a bright 31 year old who had just finished writing his Doctoral Thesis on the Aerodynamic Design, Manufacturing and Testing of turbine blades at MIT forsook offers to work for the US Navy and Air Force, and accepted to come home to Nigeria. It must be stated that this same chap, prior to going to the United States, had obtained a Masters at the Kiev Institute of Aviation Engineers. It must also be stated that the Ruskies were not too happy to let him go o'er to the Yanks when he decided to do his PhD. He had been in the USSR from 1965 until 1972. That chappie returned to Nigeria in '76 and joined our Aviation Ministry and rose like a star through the ranks. He was seconded as a deputy director to the newly created Federal Civil Aviation Authority in 1990, then forced to retire because of his refusal to make compromises on safety when the Abacha regime found it prudent to "restructure" the aviation sector. After retirement, he found Afrijet Airlines which specialised in cargo operations. In 2005, he was recalled to national service and was appointed to a five year term as the DG of his former establishment, now renamed the NCAA. During his tenure as the NCAA helmsman our air safety record improved tremendously such that Nigeria was granted a US FAA Category One Certification in 2010. In other words, he is the reason y'all can hop on a plane to go to the US directly rather than the costly and tortuous route of going elsewhere first. Under his watch, Nigeria has successfully completed no less than EIGHT international safety audits. He was fired yesterday by the Prez because of his "unsatisfactory response to the numerous concerns of stakeholders in the aviation sector". It will be too much to expect an explanation of what the "unsatisfactory response" is of course.

Last year, in the aftermath of the Dana air disaster, Dr. Demuren made what I personally consider his only faux pas as the head of the NCAA when he declared that all the passengers had perished, less than an hour after the plane went down. That aside, his record was so spectacular, than in the knee jerk that followed Dana, when people called for his sack, assorted officials declared that there was no replacement for him

So by that logic, you should be calling for GEJ's impeachment because Boko Haram's upsurge, Polio upsurge, Ansaru upsurge and a resurgence of Oil bunkering (despite paying over 80b per annum to the militants) happened under his watch?

When we warned you folks that Islamic fundamentalism and international terrorism was taking roots in Northern Nigeria, you folks didn't listen. GEJ and his cohorts decided to convince the, selves that it was 'desperate politicians' who were focused on 2015. It didn't matter tha suicide bombing had taken roots for the first time in Nigeria and Al Qaeda elements were mentioning Nigeria increasingly.
The foolish FG kept quiet and tried to find an avenue t throw money at the problem like they did for the MEND criminals. Even now GEJ doesn't realize the danger and is eagerly dropping hints of amnesty for BH at every opportunity.

These guys have taken hold in Nigeria thanks to GEJs weakness and we will suffer for it.

kaeto: i wonder squalor you were raised in. Most probably a home where your dad comes from his routinal daily duties drunk and dense, beating and molesting your mum, for only in such homes will a brasen hussy of your kind be bred, lost soul.
Can you please shelve the insults and answer the question someone raised above? Where did the 'donated' money come from? Was it budgeted for? Is there a cash pool of monies for 'donation'?

peleson: Is CIA trying to twist what we already know?
We are going to ofcos study this report and schedule our planned approach. We are not loosing sleep that CIA may be funding BH from there Algeria arm in order to weaken Nigeria as a regional power noting that we can only grow to international power following our population, oil wealth, agric wealth, aggressiveness in educational pursuance etc. Our politics n presence in Africa has been admired by many countries following our matured approach in international politics ousting S/Africa from the scene. With our improving economic power , the west is seeing another china in Nigeria, what Nigerians don't see themselves .
G8 Nations lead by David Cameron wanted to twart GEJ by oil money n corruption but GEJ took the battle to there door steps and rattle them with the caution "Stop buying BLOOD OIL from NIGERIA" bigger corruption for them to contend with. Hahaha
I weep when I think that some of my tax money is used to fund m0r0ns like you and the other 17 people that liked your absolutely inane post.
