that reminds me, somebody called nigeria a "fishy country" today in my face. surprisingly(yes surprisingly) i was annoyed and wanted to confront the guy, but i thought of the british police and more importantly the fact that if i fight it would confirm the fact that i'm from a fishy country

USLION:
Every dog has his day, & these dogs will get there soon.
the day of reckoning.on that day they'll sing a new song, but it'll be too late. and on that day their collaborators in aso rock will also have questions to answer. a day of liberation, a day for justice.i can see it coming smiley

abacha had his day,he didn't live long enough to face that day, and his family had to answer to some of the questions on his behalf

those who amend constitution and laws to keep immunity for someone and his family for life should remember that the same constitution can equally be changed by another leader in (may be this time)2 weeks.lol

Politics › Re: The Problem With Nigeria? by toshmann(m): 7:04pm On Mar 23, 2006
i think segun 06 is closer to the issue. but i'll put it this way; we have refused to tell ourself the truth. we push it under the carpet expecting it to workout somehow.

e.g, some people refuse to accept that uba's action in anambra is despicable,
some people refuse to accept that election '03 was a fiasco
some refuse admit that the country is shambolic

when we refuse to acknowledge thess -problems and act as though they dont exist, how can they be solved.
look at a constitution that should serve a nation for generations, we are handling it with rascality just to please one man. what do u think happens in the future

the socio-political foundations of the country is structured to fail and so every step of the way there is a structural failure.

@ Akolawole

Yes, but who would you have voted for? I take it that you at least listened to their campaign speeches and the like, let's know!
i saw no need to waste my time and energy in the hot sun queing up to vote, the votes wont count. i already knew the results long before the elections

i think we all knew the results long b4 the elections.

just as we also know the resluts of next elections if the 3rd term sails through

I never called oga Jakumo a "boy". There's a quirk "Moderator" Segun has programmed into the regular expression engine that changes all instances of g-u-y to b-o-y when posting in this forum.
yes i've noticed that stuff. i guess we can call on our dear moderator to do something about it or is the word guy unconstitutional to nairaland forum, or has our amiable administrator changed our constitution? cheesy

thanx buddy. sad

the problem we have in this country is that we all know the truth and yet some people pretend otherwise. i believe every interested adult in this country knows who the real villains in the anambra crises are. it is unfortunate this kind of theng happens in this 21st century.

@ demmy,
b4 moses was used bt God to save israel from egypt(for christains who believe the bible pls)he had to be brought up IN THE HOUSE OF PHAROAH. b4 Jesus saved the earth he had to be born AS A MAN ON EARTH. B4 APATHIED COULD GO DOWN IN SOUTH AFRICA f.w de klerk,a white man, had to make changes in the official policy of south africa.b4 power in nigeria could come down south, ibb-A NORTHERNER and other northerners like rimi et al had to come out for a southerner.

that is life my dear, sometimes the best way to fight an establishment is from within the establishment. Ngige penetrated the establishment and fought it to a great extent.

obviously he did not know how bad they were until after the election when they made monumental demands from anambra coffers with grave consequences for the people of anambra. thus he backed off ASAP and the war began.

as to why he is in london.i think we all know why.the establishment is still around and he has no security now. he has fought the fight and he needs some rest and security. by the way, what do u want him to do now?
Politics › Re: Are You Proud Of Nigeria? by toshmann(m): 3:04pm On Mar 19, 2006
davidylan take a look at this;

prof wole soyinka, villified by the presidency over his advice that obj should drop the 3rd term ambition

chinua achebe; villified by the presidency for refusing to accept a national award in protest of the aso-rock controlled political crisis in anambra state(his home state).

beko ransome kuti; died recently due to illhealth.no thanx to continous struggle over the political situation in the country and poor healthcare system in nigeria

philip emeagwali; no information known to me (u may help me here) about any special honor done to him by his country.

tell me, what kind of nation treats its heroes this way

Politics › Re: Appeal Court Voids Ngige's Election by toshmann(m): 1:07pm On Mar 19, 2006
ngige had a choice to make.either he danced to the tune of the masters and rip anambra of all their money or he stands the mafia for the sake of anambra.if he accepted Uba's proposal and gave away anambra's wealth, joined the 3rd term fools, worshipped the president etc he would have been governor today.we wont have known what happens to our money.

but he chose to fight the mafia.he knew they were brutal,he fought them still.he knew there was a price to pay for that choice.when the time came he paid the price without regrets.

he choose to do the right thing, not the easy thing, for the sake of anambra state.
that is what patriots do,that is what he did

that is why he is a hero.
Politics › Re: Appeal Court Voids Ngige's Election by toshmann(m): 1:02pm On Mar 19, 2006
@mazi,
good that missworld has made it clear to u that we need people that reason.so u are out.
for people who reason ,the winner in this event is not obi,the looser is not ngige, now we know the kind of inec that operates our elections.inec defended the elction in prior tribunals and turned around "like a prostitute"to ask for it to be cancelled in the appeal court.
this same inec will conduct 2007 elections.that is a great problem.it is a world record for inec to be on different sides of a legal battle at different levels of litigation.
that is where inec stinks.
that is where we got it wrong.
for where nigeria stinks,i'll leave that for another thread. angry
