Nigeria has lost its character!
WHENEVER our indigenous practices conflict with foreign ideas, we jettison our indigenous way of life
This is always the case and people start talking about civilisation

what is civilised about immorality, spiritually unhealthy and filthy tendencies
Are we saying our conservative way of life is wrong

We have enough problems without engaging in acts that would bring spiritual problems - perhaps eartquake, tsunami etc
We need to think and rise up against those ANIMALS

Isn't it interesting that 49 lawyers have taken a case to court, yet we do not know the name of ANY of themhuh This is just a stunt by Obasanjo's detractors.

He has already sent a reply to the media on the Halliburton issue, and the detractors kept quiet. It's good they went to court sha. By the time their frivolous action is sent to the dustbin, they would at least have made some money from their sponsor, a certain gap-toothed General who thinks it's his birthright to rule Nigeria, despite his blatant disregard for the people of this country, at least from the point of June 12 and Dele Giwa.

Let me explain. I am a Christian northerner. I grew up in the north, and I have terrible experiences,  In some muslim dominated towns in the north a man cannot urinate while standing (whether a muslim or christian), not even to talk of building a church. Some of you guys who did their NYSC in the north can testify that U were denied the right to worship in public places. U have to travel very far b4 u get a Church. Just recently, thousands of cartons of bear were destroyed in Kano under the guise of sharia law. Why should the muslims unduly have upper hand over others?

The guys who demolished the mosque in Bukari, Wukari, Taraba state (who are not necessarily Christians) had earlier objected to the idea of building that mosque, and the Traditional ruler had informed/warned the police against the project for security reasons. But the over zealous fanatic area commander went ahead and built the mosque.

Ogidiboy, Only fools turn the other cheek.
Foolish though it may seem, faith requires a christian to turn the other cheek
And of course, one can choose to become an apostate by deed even while still calling himself a member of that faith
This presumes that there is no other bilble (hidden from non-christians) that has abrogated the duty to turn the other cheek
and that would justify the st bartholomew's day massacre

Now that you know that christains just attacked muslims first, what is your opinion

I am a muslim, but I know that one of the articles of any faith is for an adherent to comply with the injunctions of a religion, no matter the provocation

Any muslim who because he believes muslims are wronged kills himself (eg through suicide bombing) is no longer following the rules of islam
In his mind, he is fighting for Islam, but in actual fact, he is taking himself out of the fold of Islam

Similarly, unless christians have been lying to us, I believe that any christian who in annoyance attacks people is also taking himself out of christianity

"Violence between Christians and Muslims in Taraba state has resulted in bloodshed leaving at least four people dead, a police official said.

Taraba State Police Commissioner, Aliyu Musa said the killings started on Tuesday in the community of Bukari after Christian youth became angry over the location of a mosque. He told The Associated Press on Wednesday that a group of young people burned down the mosque, which caused a counterattack by Muslims.

Sources said security agents intervened this morning eventually restoring calm to the community. Violence between Christians and Muslims in neighbouring Plateau state earlier this year left a trail of dead bodies in its wake."

In my own country, I am expected to give my fingerprint to Etisalat (a UAE company) or MTN (SA) or Bharti (India)?
And they are carrying all these information on laptops all over town
And these guys are even tyemporary staff
But serioously, let us look at their weak attempts

Kidnappers do not use their own mobile phones (they use their victims phones)
that way, they confirm to relatives of their victims that the kidnappers are actually in touch with the missing person
They also easily get the number of the relatives they need to make rasnsome demand to
We have been using mobile phones since 2001
why this sudden interest?
I guess it is because the powerful are suddenly feeling the heat of kidnapping

If it were armed robbers issues alone, they would not bat an eyelid
they have their security - siren, escort, fortified gates, security cameras etc

Incidentally, armed robbers do not need to call to threaten anyone
Even if they want to call, if they can snatch cars, can they not snatch phones to call with

Exceprts

BY rescinding the decision to withdraw Nigeria’s football teams from participating in international tournaments for two years, President Goodluck Jonathan may have staved off a major setback in the nation’s sports sector. But the volte-face, coming barely five days after the original decision, and only a few minutes to the implementation of a threat by the Federation of International Football Associations (FIFA) to suspend the country, raises questions of managerial competence.
For instance, was the decision well considered before it was taken? Or was it an impromptu decision taken on the spur of the moment to pacify Nigerians who were let down by the appalling performance of the Super Eagles in South Africa? Did the president develop cold feet following FIFA’s threat? Was the President misled into banning the team in the first place? And was the change of mind meant to correct the mistaken decision? These issues need to be publicly addressed, in order to restore local and international confidence in our ability to run football affairs responsibly. At the moment, that confidence, if it existed at all, has been thoroughly shaken.

The ban was apparently based on the recommendation of the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on the World Cup, headed by Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi, who said the PTF felt “we should sit back and look inward”, after “all sorts of problems” at the World Cup.

Such suspension, according to FIFA Communications Director, Nicolas Maingot, would extend to all Nigerian teams (including the Female Under 20 team which is billed to participate in a tournament in Germany this month.
FIFA also threatened to freeze financial assistance to the NFF. The reaction of the world football body is predictable as it has always frowned at any form of government interference in football administration.

Clearly, the Presidency had good reason to be upset by the country’s woeful performance in World Cup 2010 and therefore to wield the big stick. However, government’s reaction appeared to be hasty and not borne out of any well-thought-out plan to redress the anomaly. Unfortunate as this was, this is a stance that is all too common in this country. Nigerian leaders tend to act first, before considering the import of their actions.
Otherwise, government should have fully considered whether it was ready to contend with FIFA ban including the suspension of financial aid and of Nigerian FIFA officials. We believe that the ban was hasty and amounted to an overkill.

In any case, the President’s decision was not far-reaching enough, considering that the perceived failure in Nigerian football is itself a reflection of the decay in virtually all spheres of our public life, including politics and governance. The rot is widespread and systemic. It is a big relief that the decision has been reviewed. What government should now do is to focus on its initial promise to develop Nigerian football and “put its house in order.” The senior national team should be disbanded and a new team constituted made up of skilful and talented footballers. The NFF administration is inept and corrupt. Government must explore all possible means to encourage a desirable and productive change, mindful of FIFA rules.
The country should put in place immediately, a machinery for developing grassroots football and discover the hidden talents in the country. The expected new football administration should address recurring issues of developing the local league, providing training facilities and grooming local coaches, as part of efforts to restore the glory of Nigerian football.

Emerging details have confirmed real reasons why some northern leaders are opposed to the perceived presidential aspiration of President Jonathan in 2011.

Sources in the North confirmed that some northern elements who were championing the cause of the zone currently were doing so because of a fear that allowing Jonathan to gain power in 2011 could pose threats to their personal business empires.

It was gathered that some of those advertised as northern leaders had backed the operations of the cabal that held the administration of the late President Umaru Yar’Adua hostage till he died on May 5, 2010.

Many Nigerians had expressed the feeling that the cabal could not have held sway for so long if it was not receiving external backing from some influential Nigerians.

But it emerged, at the weekend, that some of the influential forces who sustained the Yar’Adua cabal had infiltrated the Northern Elders’ Forum and were partly responsible for the persistent calls on President Jonathan not to contest.

Some younger elements in the North were, however, said to be disagreeing with the tactics of the northern leaders, with the claim that such leaders were pursuing personal agenda.

No offense but politics and corruption are very much involved in this issue. When you have elected officials traveling to SA with family and staff on the government dime, it's an issue of corruption. When you have officials that make decisions based on how big a kickback they'll receive, you have corruption. FIFA does not run Nigeria, Jonathan does. If government money goes towards NFF and it's not running properly, he has the right to take action. FIFA's codes and regulations can NEVER supersede the well-being of a member nation; that doesn't happen and if Nigeria were to roll over and take it, then we're beyond redemption.

I'm still waiting to hear how a sporting organization trumps a nation's sovereignty.
We talk of rule law but seek to ambush the enforcement of the law
Why can Johnathan not use the EFCC report on the allegation made by Glen Hoddle
His action is similar to Obj saying, Wabara, Osuji, Afolabi are corrupt and sacking them
We applauded
But nobody was jailed
They are not ex-convicts, so they can contest any election in the future

We also saw how Yaradua put Bode George in jail using EFCC report
Bode George can no longer aspire to any elective office
Do you think anybody will argue with that? FIFA will not do so of you apply the same process to Lulu and Co

Now as for FIFA
My undertstanding is that the I in its name gives it sovereignty over International footbal
and the N in FGN gives Goodluck sovereignty over Nigerian football

So Goodluck can do whatever he likes with Nigerian football
He can cancel the league, order men to play against women, introduce goal-line technology, abolish offside etc

But if Nigeria seeks to play against even neighbouring Togo or Benin, then it must obey FIFA rules

And if Nigeria believes that FIFA is not democratic, is corrupt and has faulty rules
Then Nigeria should have worked with other member countries to have FIFA accounts audited and the FIFA rules changed BEFORE now

But you cannot start arguing with a policeman after being arrested that the law is silly

This is all academic, Jonathan is not the southerner that can win an election in 2011.

The irony is that zoning permeates the nigerian polity. Did Nwodo stop to think why he had to replace Ogbulafor? or why Ken Nnamani, Adolphus Wabara, Pius Anyim, Chuba Okadigbo and Evan Enwerem were senate president from 1999 to 2007. Just incase he doesn't know, the answer is zoning.

However, that is a PDP rule. Nigeria is not a 1 party state and PDP is not the only party.
Mantu was deputy senate president to several senate presidents
All the senate presidents were from SE
Nobodu ever asked that the man be promoted to the office of senate president
Why? because of zoning

Bankole succeeded Etteh
Why? zoning

Each state has 3 senatorial districts
No senatorial district will allow others districts to continue producing speaker and governor because those people are competent
So the argument that where somebody comes from does not matter in present day Nigeria is not tenable

Nigerians continue to vote according to tribal affiliations
How come APGA and PPA are very popular in SE
And AC and LP in the SW

Even in Ogun, people of the same state and tribe are fighting over which zone suceeds Daniel
I don't believe that a Yoruba does not care if he is ruled forever by an hausa man simply because the man is said to be competent

And if we are talking about competence, is GJ the most competent politician in Nigeria today?

Bluetooth, The North doesn't need any compromise. Who are they? U act like these people are gods. No zoning come 2011 if they don't like let heaven and earth collide. The days of bending backwards to our own detriment in the name of appeasing these desert rats are long gone. It was this back-bending in the name of compromise that got us in this mess since the 60s.
And are you really happy talking this way about people created by God
when nobody here can create a cell?

If we talk this way about fellow blacks
why should others not look down on the balck race
It is difficult for a black man to point at his clear achievements compared to other blacks
But the whites have done wonders - your computer, internet, aircraft, space technology, medicine etc
Yet you would be annoyed if they called you a rat

I have heard a lot about president Gooodluck Jonathan's eligibility contesting the presidency come 2011. My own take is there should be no question about Jonathan's eligibility contesting on the PDP ticket or not. Jonathan should contest because he is still continuing the mandate given him and Yar'adua in the last presidencial election(8 years duration of 4 each), they have only done 4 years remaining another 4 years. It does not matter whether Yar'adua is dead. What if it was Goodluck Jonathan that died?. Would Yar'adua not have contested come 2011?.
Do you sincerely believe what you have written
That Yaradua and Johnathan were elected based on personal recognition
And not on where they are from?

And if GJ (God forbid) had died, would the South South not have been putting another person forward as VP?
When we make comments, we should look at 2 perspectives
(1) If you were to be praying before God, is this what you would tell God sincerely
(2) You may set up a rule today to favour yourself, but it may turn against you tomorrow

Zoning becomes useless and anti-progress when it is standing in the way of GJ becoming President
But it was not when it allowed a minority man even from his Bayelsa home state to become VP
(Note that within Bayelsa GJ is from a minority group (1 of 8 LGs) while Alams group is from majority tribe (4 out of 8 LGs) )
This situation can come around

"Also the management committee set up by the Nigeria government will not be recognised by Fifa.

If Nigeria are suspended, the country cannot participate in competitive matches or club games in African competitions, as well as a host of financial ramifications.

"A suspension goes beyond the suspension of the national teams," added Fifa's communications director Nicolas Maingot. "It also freezes financial help and no referees can participate in international competition."

BTW
Capello has been reappointed - he wants to bring in new blood into the team
Le Blanc is now the coach of France

That is order
we should beware of motion, aggresive motion, without progress

FIFA has no right to order the leader of a soverign nation around. The move by President Jonathan is a good move in the interest of over 150 million Nigerians and we are in full support of it. The Nigerian Government funds the national team and just like every business man, the government deserves quality football for the money they invest in the sport. FIFA headed by Blatter should resolve the controversies surrounding the 2010 world cup. They should first settle the issues ranging from poor officiating which FIFA calls human error. FIFA must quench the fire in its organisation and leave Nigeria that is trying to solve it's internal problems alone
Sovereignty comes with responsibility
FIFA is not ordering anybody around - we knew FIFA rules before joining
Blatter is just saying - obey it
If you join a boxing club, you cannot turn around to say that somebody punched a whole you
why is this an issue anyway - we obey rules of
UN, IAEA, IOC, Ecowas, AU, IMF, World bank etc
why is FIFA different
UN has just imposed sanctions on Iran - nobody is talking about sovereignty
ICJ issued an arrest warrant to on the president of Sudan - no talk of sovereignty

Is Nigeria really a soverign nation - we rely a lot on aid from foreign countries
They arm twist us on account of that
Is obama not egging Johnathan on on the issue of 2011

I am not one of the 150m that GJ is doing this for
