TheBigUrban2: @ bold

In short, euthanasia is okay when it is costly.
i never said this! My response doesn't even mention "cost". I hope you don't enjoy lying

When a sick person begs for death because of pain.....dont do it because it is immoral
everybody has one pain or the other, is that a reason to help them commit suicide? I think not.

When a sick person is too costly to keep alive........do it/kill the patient to save money/time/work
never said this.

This ridiculous reasoning from christians/catholilcs has caused misery around the world.
i guess the "ridiculous reasoning" is the one you created for yourself.

It is funny how christians are always focused on the money
money isn't even mentioned in my post. You see you have a comprehension problem?

If this below is an attempt to bully me or misrepresent me then you certainly failed. Read with your head and eyes and if you see anything that is irrational or unobjective in my post then point it out.
TheBigUrban2: First of all, two wrongs do not make a right
ignoratio elenchi, i never said that two wrongs makes a right, i never implied that priests are excused because others do it. Instead i compared statistic, if the general population has 5 percent and the present very bad situation in the church is about 2 percent. So compared to the general population the present very bad situation in the church is less by 3percent. I didn't say it was good, right or beautiful or excusable, i say/said the comparism of the statistics is this.
and secondly, it would only make sense to compare the perencentage of pedophiles in catholic churches to another organisation eg secondary schools, baptist churches etc.
you don't want me to do that! The highest percentage of pedophilia occurs with close family, the next highest percentage is the teachers, then the couches. I do not wish to make excuses for anyone dear, but you certainly don't want me to compare the priests to the teachers.

Now for justice, we have seen how the catholic church covered up and protected pedophile priests....then you were here doing your own cover up.

So please, do us a favour and keep quiet
this is me been polite.

You do not even have the right to dictate when i should speak or not! You are not the boss of me, and if you were you still wont have the right to tell me when or when not to speak. I am repectful and i respect your freedom of speech, it is only right, infact if you aren't a bigot it is necessary that you respect mine too.

The catholic church is a billion big, and consist of both the living and the "good dead" of milleniums, and those great number of people couldn't all be guilty of aiding and abeting pedophiles intentionally. While some in places of authority in the church may be blamed for many acts and or omission whether intentional or unintentional which may aided or protected pedophile (and hoping they face the laws of both men and God) that still doesn't give you a foot hold to stand and accuse the "catholic church". The catholic church isn't some few men dressed in red. Overgeneralisation is an offensive fallacy.

Now have a nice day and i hope next time you won't attempt to infringe upon another person freedom of speech.
Christianity Etc › Re: Desmond Tutuh Supports Euthanasia (assisted Death). Whats Your Take. by Ubenedictus(m): 11:56pm On Jul 13, 2014
As regards Euthanasia, this is what i believe,
Those whose lives are diminished or weakened deserve special respect. Sick or handicapped persons should be helped to lead lives as normal as possible.
Whatever its motives and means,
direct euthanasia consists in putting an end to the lives of handicapped, sick or dying persons. It is morally unacceptable.
Thus an act or omission which, of itself or by intention, causes death in order to eliminate suffering constitutes a murder gravely contrary to the dignity of the human person and to the respect due to the living God, his Creator. The error of judgement into which one can fall in good faith does not change the nature of this murderous act, which must always be forbidden and excluded.
Discontinuing medical procedures that are burdensome, dangerous, extraordinary, or disproportionate to the expected outcome can be legitimate; it is the refusal
of 'over-zealous' treatment. Here one does not will to cause death; one's inability to impede it is merely accepted. The decisions
should be made by the patient if he is competent and able or, if not, by those legally entitled to act for the patient,

The media is at it again, why not report his exact words?

Anyway, the world's population has a 5% or more pedophiles, if the catholic priesthood have about 2% as the media seem to claim, then it seems the incidence of pedophilia is much reduced in the church.

While i wait clarification of what was really said, i hope this crime on the innocents be treated with all the severity it deserves. May criminals posing as God's representative never have access to children, may all pedo be removed from positions of trust and authority, may God bring true healing to the victims, never again, never again.

i think the bible hints to complete predestination to glory. Rm 8:29 et seq paints the picture.

mnwankwo: The purpose for which God - the creator created and imbued us with the talents or faculties is for us to find supreme joy and radiant happiness. The ultimate goal of spiritual evolution is to transform the talents inherent in the spirit (man) into abilities. Once these abilities become alive in a man, they will naturally place him or her in sync with the power of God, the creator. A man who have established this link with GOD will sense inner happiness and supreme joy. Whether such a man is rich or poor, healthy or sick, he bears peace within himself for the power of GOD to which he is linked will show him with clinical precision the how and why of his present situation. God doesn't will suffering or evil for any of his creatures, Suffering and evil simply arose as a consequence of misapplication of the power of GOD by those creatures that are blessed with the ability of free will. Man who is spirit is one of such creatures.

The problem with many people as the look at events in their own life and the world is that they look at externals and judge with only the physical faculties. Like the quotation in the opening post, they cannot find sense in what is happening in the world and question why God allow all these evil and injustice. A subplot to this assertion is that in their view, God doesn't exist if these terrible things happen to people. The origin of what many people are experiencing does not lie in the form or physical manifestation of the experience but in spiritual acts of free will which the person is not even conscious in the earthly sense. The origin of these spiritual decisions lie in most cases in a previous earth-life or from decisions taken in a non-physical plane. As the Igbo`s say, if you ask a man who didn't witness when a corpse was buried to exhume a corpse, he will start digging from the knee (wrong position). Before we were conceived, we are already in existence and we will be in existence after the so called physical death. In reality we have been in existence for millions of years both in physical and non-physical planes and with multifarious sojourns on earth (reincarnation). These experiences in various planes is one single continuum, and these experiences which are a consequence of our free free will form the tapestry of our fate. Billions of new threads are added to this tapestry of fate every hour as we make decisions and these new threads affect the sound and color of the tapestry of fate. In a single earth-life, only some few threads have ripened for harvest, and thus only the consequences of a small section are experienced in one earth life. Now a man who judges only by the faculties of the brain do not see the entire tapestry of fate, do not even seen the few threads that has ripened for harvest, but only see the physical manifestation of these few threads. Without knowing how the come about, how they were formed, how the matured and ripened for harvest, they stand confused at the fruit since they are not aware in the earthly sense of who, where, when the seeds were sowed. If this harvest is bad, they say it is evil and if it is good, they say its providence. But the reality is that God does not send blessing or curse to anyone, rather his adamantine laws (the will of GOD) return to each individual, groups, nations, the entire humanity the fruits of the seeds that they sowed. The adamantine laws of GOD are inherently imbued with the twin attributes of love and justice. Therefor no injustice can be found in the manifestation of the divine will. Whatever happens to us is a consequence of our free will. It can be (i) the fruits of the seeds we sowed, (ii) fruits of the seeds that others sowed but we accepted prenatally to experience them for the purpose of our own development, as a mission karma or as a result of accepting to experience on earth where both good and evil dwell side by side.
this is an interesting take.

FrancisTony: Or Sola biblica cheesy
that is sola fide mixed with "eternal security" i.e once saved always saved.

Sola fide was invented by martin luther, in the 16th century.
"eternal security" was invented by calvin in the 16th century too. Some calvinist will argue that calvin didn't really teach the above "eternal security" some say once saved always saved really "came up" in the 19th cent.

Anyhow you look at it that is not historic christian teaching, it were invented by men who thought that they understood christianity better all the christian before them and they made up the osas to explain their understanding of the bible. After that they tell us that historic christianity, confession and eucharist that have been there since the time of the apostles are wrong and that their new age teaching is the right ones for us to believe.

The christian irony.

This is just about my first question here

What is the significance of that ritual performed by all during mass just after the priest announces the Gospel writer as he is about to read out the gospel to the congregation?

We normally use our thumb finger to do the sign of the cross on the forehead and on the lips/chin area and on the chest/left-side of the chest saying "Glory be to you/thee lord."
it has something to do with God's words been in our head/mind/intellect/understanding, in our mouth, in our heart!

Spotless180: u mean some people programmed to end up in hell and some in heaven? Do u think man has freewill?
he never said that some are programmed that way,(he can clarify).

Man has freewill and so by and large he is responsible for his choices and the consequences thereof, but God always knew what men will do with their freewill, that is omniscience and specifically prescience, he has decreed that as we have chosen so shall our eternal destinies be that is "predestination".

God doesn't exactly program people to hell, but in does see their end and has said "let it be".

GSKing: https://static.lgbtqnation.com/assets/2014/07/Nienstedt.jpg
Archbishop John Nienstedt

John Nienstedt, the Catholic archbishop who championed the failed effort to ban same-sex marriage in Minnesota, is facing a church investigation over allegations of inappropriate sexual relationships with other men, including priests and seminary students.

“I believe that the investigators have received about ten sworn statements alleging sexual impropriety on the part of the archbishop dating from his time as a priest in the Archdiocese of Detroit, as Bishop of New Ulm, and while coadjutor and archbishop of
St. Paul and Minneapolis ,” church whistleblower Jennifer Haselberger told the magazine Commonweal, adding that Nienstedt “also stands accused of retaliating against those who refused his advances or otherwise questioned his conduct.”

Haselberger previously revealed that Neinstedt was failing to properly investigate instances of alleged sexual abuse by priests, including one priest who may have had an “unprofessional relationship” with Neinstedt.

Nienstedt vigorously denied the allegations, and stressed in his statements that none of the claims of sexual misconduct “involve minors.”

Last year, Nienstedt was investigated by local law enforcement for allegedly touching a boy’s buttocks during a confirmation ceremony, but was not charged.

Under Neinstedt, the archdiocese of Minneapolis and St. Paul joined with fellow Minnesota dioceses to deliver hundreds of thousands of dollars to anti-gay groups, together becoming the largest donor to the unsuccessful campaign pushing a state marriage amendment.

Neinstedt warned Catholics that “there ought not be open dissension” on the issue of marriage equality and urged them to pray against gay rights.

In 2010, the archdiocese also sent out more than 400,000 DVDs to parishioners urging them to vote for candidates that supported putting a constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage on the ballot in 2012.

During the campaign to ban marriage equality, Neinstedt said Satan is behind gay rights and called homosexuality a “ grave evil.” He has criticized the film Brokeback Mountain as an attack on Jesus Christ that would bring down society and described homosexuality as the “result of psychological trauma” that “must be understood in the context of other human disorders: envy, malice, greed, etc.”

www.lgbtqnation.com/2014/07/anti-gay-archbishop-under-investigation-for-sexual-misconduct-with-other-men/
interesting,

i saw the news related to the archbishop some months ago when it was alledge that he placed his hands on a boys buttocks during a photo, the photo in question showed the bishops hands on the boys shoulder and archb john saiid he didn't remember any such insident, the police cleared him of any wrong doing and said such behavior is inconsistent with that of a pedophile.

Now he has got himself tangled up in canon law, most cases of this nature are treated with an eye to draw blood, if he is found guilty he will face huge penalties not excluding defrocking.

Let the law take its course.

Spotless180: let me get it clear. U mean some people are destined to go to hell while others to heaven?
that is a rough and inaccurrate way of puting it. I earlier said predestination is an act of divine prescience.

So in view of the unrepented sin committed by many, they are predestined to hell while others are predestined to heaven.

Predestination isn't very easy to understand, first, God is absolutely soveriegn and can do whatever he wants, secondly, he can see the future, thirdly, he can decree the future.

Predestination says God has decided from the begining those who are destined for heaven (don't ask me how), and that by is prescience, i.e because he knows the future he knows all who will die without repentance and he has predestined them from the begining to hell.

cktheluckyman: Dear Colleaguesn

Please join me in thanking God for delivering me from HIV infection inspite of the fact that I have been committing fornication and masturbation.

I was engaged to a girl whom I was planning to marry later this year.Contrary to the churche's and biblical teachings we had already consumated the union even before wedlock.I took her to my parents early this year and my dad found her worthy but only insisted we carry out HIV screening before going ahead.By April I went and had a negative result. She told me she will do her's later.since we were having unprotected sex and I wasn't infected,I just assumed she will also be negative and didn't really bother.

Last month I told my dad I wanted the introduction to be in August but he bluntly told me,he is not going anywhere unless he sees our HIV result.I came back to her and impressed it upon her to carru out the test so that our marriage plans can proceed.

It was finally that she confessed to me that she was HIV positive and has known since December.

Bewildered I quickly went back for another HI test wich also came out negative.Today been the 12 week after we had sex,I have gone for another HIV test which is still negative. In all itz been between 19-12 weeks since I was exposed to the virus yet I am still negative.

I want you all to help me in thhanking God and praying for more of his mercies and blessings.

Please learn from my mistakes and abstain from pre-marital or extra-marital sex.I have severally visisted the blessed sacrament, said the rosary and divine mercy chaplets as well as enlisting the intercession of saints especially st Anthony of padua and Angel Raphael.

It is my belief God spared me because of the parents prayers and the intercession of these heavenly beings. His unfathomable divine mercy saved me!!! Please glorify the good Lord with me!!! Thank you Holy mother,Jesus I trust in you!!
take another test in 6 months time.

This story scares me, so the lady had hiv and still decided to have sexual relationship.

sorry dear, i really over delayed.

In the wildest sense Predestination mean every eternal Divine resolve of will.

In the narrower sense it refers to the eternal divine resolve of will with regards to the final destination of rational creatures.

In the dumbest sense it means God has always resolved that certain people will make eternal bliss or will be granted grace.

Predestination is an act of divine pre-science (i.e God knows the future), and predetermination (i.e God decrees certain things to happen).

Basically that is predestination.

striktlymi: I believe any rationale thinking human would be upset if not get angry out-rightly. That poor child was abused by one who is supposed to be her Earthly protector...that poor child could not and cannot defend herself...that poor child needed someone to help her in that moment of distress...no one (including God) came to her rescue.

If that poor child ends up not believing that God exists because of her experiences in life, one 'lowly bagger' of a preacher would dare say to her face that she would rot in hell for all eternity?? C'mon the least we expect from God who happens to be our Father, is take care of all those who cannot defend themselves.

We see countless children killed without a thought everyday in their 'cradle of happiness' aka their mothers womb. We saw Herod hack down innocent children for the sake of the messiah. We see Children starve to death because they don't have access to food and shelter. One may argue that at least those children rested in God. Probably better for them to die and go to Heaven than live and risk hell.

But what about the poor girl who got raped and probably would live and die a prostitute? What hope would there be for someone like that. My ranting is basically geared towards one direction: Please God, protect ALL innocent Children...you can abandon the adults if you want but please protect the Children.
yeah, i think like this at times when the terrible happens. Why did God not do something?

I think the question is how, what and when should God do something. Every sin has a negative effect on others and even ourselves, where should God come in? Is he to send angels to force leaders away from war and into peace so as to end the senseless crimes of war? Or send mana each time we starve? Is he to terrify the whole earth to ensure every one does good?

Good is in man's capacity and if he wills it he can acheive it. The down side of giving rational creatures free will is that you have to watch them when they abuse it and do nothing.

Evil is a mystery.

Sal c it seems i didn't read your post well, i saw "13yr old girld impregnated" but somehow i didn't see "by her father".

First of all i think the man must be distanced from the girl as far as possible, the guy is a pedophile and should always have 100yards separating him and a child, the guy should be in jail.

I think the girl needs someone to talk to, she'll need therapy, someone to listen to her and help her psychologically.

The baby should be taken in by a close relative, preferably the girl's mom or grand mom.

This is just a devastating experience! I dnt know what else to say.
