Garri the 1st: My friend quit fooling yourself....

Even Catholics have avoided this thread because the know the truth about their being Idol worshippers. Stop talking trash about getting someone to spoon feed you about the meaning of Idolatry....

Olodo!!!
you see your problem? Ignorance is a disease, you can't even take a step by step discussion. You have been busy screamimg idolatry but interestingly you can't even clarify what idolatry is.
The next time you make a thread like this, put on your thinking hat and start using your brain.
If am fooling myself then u made a fool out of yourself.

Christianity Etc › Pope Francis Christmas Message, Prays For Nigeria. by Ubenedictus(op): 7:16pm On Dec 25, 2013
Glory to God in the highest
heaven,
and on earth peace among those
whom he favours (Lk 2:14)
Dear brothers and sisters in
Rome and throughout the world,
Happy Christmas!
I take up the song of the angels
who appeared to the shepherds
in Bethlehem on the night when
Jesus was born. It is a song
which unites heaven and earth,
giving praise and glory to
heaven, and the promise of
peace to earth and all its people.
I ask everyone to share in this
song: it is a song for every man
or woman who keeps watch
through the night, who hopes
for a better world, who cares for
others while humbly seeking to
do his or her duty.
Glory to God!
Above all else, this is what
Christmas bids us to do: give
glory to God, for he is good, he is
faithful, he is merciful. Today I
voice my hope that everyone will
come to know the true face of
God, the Father who has given us
Jesus. My hope is that everyone
will feel God’s closeness, live in
his presence, love him and adore
him.
May each of us give glory to God
above all by our lives, by lives
spent for love of him and of all
our brothers and sisters.
Peace to mankind
True peace is not a balance of
opposing forces. It is not a lovely
“façade” which conceals conflicts
and divisions. Peace calls for daily
commitment, starting from God’s
gift, from the grace which he has
given us in Jesus Christ.
Looking at the Child in the
manger, our thoughts turn to
those children who are the most
vulnerable victims of wars, but
we think too of the elderly, to
battered women, to the sick…
Wars shatter and hurt so many
lives!
Too many lives have been
shattered in recent times by the
conflict in Syria, fueling hatred
and vengeance. Let us continue
to ask the Lord to spare the
beloved Syrian people further
suffering, and to enable the
parties in conflict to put an end
to all violence and guarantee
access to humanitarian aid. We
have seen how powerful prayer
is! And I am happy today too,
that the followers of different
religious confessions are joining
us in our prayer for peace in
Syria. Let us never lose the
courage of prayer! The courage
to say: Lord, grant your peace to
Syria and to the whole world.
Grant peace to the Central African
Republic, often forgotten and
overlooked. Yet you, Lord, forget
no one! And you also want to
bring peace to that land, torn
apart by a spiral of violence and
poverty, where so many people
are homeless, lacking water, food
and the bare necessities of life.
Foster social harmony in South
Sudan, where current tensions
have already caused numerous
victims and are threatening
peaceful coexistence in that
young state.
Prince of Peace, in every place
turn hearts aside from violence
and inspire them to lay down
arms and undertake the path of
dialogue. Look upon Nigeria, rent
by constant attacks which do not
spare the innocent and
defenseless. Bless the land where
you chose to come into the
world, and grant a favourable
outcome to the peace talks
between Israelis and
Palestinians. Heal the wounds of
the beloved country of Iraq, once
more struck by frequent acts of
violence.
Lord of life, protect all who are
persecuted for your name. Grant
hope and consolation to the
displaced and refugees,
especially in the Horn of Africa
and in the eastern part of the
Democratic Republic of the
Congo. Grant that migrants in
search of a dignified life may find
acceptance and assistance. May
tragedies like those we have
witnessed this year, with so
many deaths at Lampedusa,
never occur again!
Child of Bethlehem, touch the
hearts of all those engaged in
human trafficking, that they may
realize the gravity of this crime
against humanity. Look upon the
many children who are
kidnapped, wounded and killed
in armed conflicts, and all those
who are robbed of their
childhood and forced to become
soldiers.
Lord of heaven and earth, look
upon our planet, frequently
exploited by human greed and
rapacity. Help and protect all the
victims of natural disasters,
especially the beloved people of
the Philippines, gravely affected
by the recent typhoon.
Dear brothers and sisters, today,
in this world, in this humanity, is
born the Saviour, who is Christ
the Lord. Let us pause before the
Child of Bethlehem. Let us allow
our hearts to be touched, let us
allow ourselves to be warmed by
the tenderness of God; we need
his caress. God is full of love: to
him be praise and glory forever!
God is peace: let us ask him to
help us to be peacemakers each
day, in our life, in our families, in
our cities and nations, in the
whole world. Let us allow
ourselves to be moved by God’s
goodness.

There has always bn a clear diffrnc b/w an inventor and a refurblisher or promoter.

Christianity Etc › Re: Why Catholics Will Continue To Celebrate Idolatrous Christmas by Ubenedictus(m): 6:00pm On Dec 25, 2013
This your history has very heavy untruths. Just one though will suffice, the saturnalia was from 17 to 23. So correct yourself, it may be good if you actually researched the rest of the story.
Christianity Etc › Re: Christmas is idolatrous by event and history! by Ubenedictus(m): 5:34pm On Dec 25, 2013
I couldn't help laughing wen i read your post. It has many uninteresting and subtle lies hidden behind some truth. It suffice for me to simply demonstrate this by asking you to provide an historic source where it is implied that constantine started christmas. If you can't do that then i suggest you review the untruths you have posted above.
Christianity Etc › Re: Eleven Things You Did Not Know About Christmas by Ubenedictus(m): 3:16pm On Dec 25, 2013
Krak: So why then did they just decide out of the blues that he was born in December and not just any December but on the 25
this one is a bit simple to answer but i wont hand it to you on a plater of gold. To get this answer we need to go back to the writting of the christians of about 250ad to 350ad and to the rabbis of around d 2nd century. That is where you'll find the answer.
Christianity Etc › Re: Eleven Things You Did Not Know About Christmas by Ubenedictus(m): 3:02pm On Dec 25, 2013
My dear i neva said you weren't a christian, i simply advise you to research your article again. Mayb i wasn't clear befor. The thought that christmas was place on the 25 to replace a pagan celebration is based upon an unproven assumption that there was already a pagan celebration on the 25. Now listen, there is absolutely no significant historical proof that there was a pagan celebration on d 25th before the 4th century. I repeat neither sol invintus or mithras has an annual celebration on the 25 befor the 4th century. 2ndly mithras worship wasn't a state cult is was private and thus even if there was a none existent celebration on that day it would be unknown to most people since d worship of mithras isn't a public cult.
Krak: This article is actually based on research. Roman Mithraism was adopted from Persian Zoroastrianism. Mithra in Zoroastrian religion has always been worshiped for hundreds of years before Christ was born. There is a whole lot that connects Christmas with Paganism.

For example it is a well known fact(even among Christian scholars) the Jesus Christ was obviously not born in December or any period near that Month.

So why then did they just decide out of the blues that he was born in December and not just any December but on the 25th.

Early Christians did not celebrate the birth of Jesus, what was usually marked was his Crucifixion, Death and Resurection.

For your information I am a Christian.
3rdly about the time we are speaking of the church was totally against adopting any pagan feast, it would sound totally insane if the church of that period was against adopting any pagan stuff and then they went about adopting a pagan celebration, that would make them hypocrites. Research on the above points and inform me with proof if i am wrong on any of them.

Joshthefirst: grin

Come now. Reality is not subjective to my head alone. I've been deluded like that before. Its no longer a noble idea. Its now a life. Its too late for me to break off of God's word and will. I have set this boundary myself.(The boundary of the words above mind you). I'm living the life. I've proved truth. Reality can indeed be harsh, but with God, its an exciting walk
hmm
Christianity Etc › Re: Eleven Things You Did Not Know About Christmas by Ubenedictus(m):
Krak: Pls educate me more.
it would be better if you made research, you would find there is no connection between sun worship and the christmas celebration. The church didn't make a law in d 4th century and declear it christmas. Infact the sun god wasn't worship on the 25 untill about the very same time christians were celebrating christmas it is more correct to say the pagans tried to replace the christian celebration by d day to the sun god.
Christianity Etc › Re: Are Catholics Idol Worshippers? Pls See Pics by Ubenedictus(m): 1:10pm On Dec 25, 2013
Ukuts gp: idolatry is making images and venerating it by bowing down and praying to it. This is my definition. And the catholic are the foremost in this act.
ok that is a start. 1 you said make an image. 2 you said venerating it by bowing. 3 you said praying to it. That is a 3 point definition, i love clarity and for the sake of clarity please tell me do all 3 points have to be fulfilled for it to be idolatry OR is one point enough. Do i have to make an image, venerate it and pray to it for it to become idolatry or is making an image idolatry in itself, then venerating it is another idolatry and praying to it another idolatry. Thank you.
Christianity Etc › Re: Are Catholics Idol Worshippers? Pls See Pics by Ubenedictus(m): 7:38pm On Dec 24, 2013
I just came on the thread and found comments like 'if this isn't idolatry then wat is?' 'if this isn't idolatry then idolatry needs a new definition'. Then i remember dat the op has a bible passage and pics but no definition of idolatry. Before we begin the discussion of how idolatrous the catholic church is, and how pagan that is will someone tell us what exactly is idolatry. Op pls define idolatry. Thank you.

Christianity Etc › Re: Why Are Jewish Rabbis Not Collecting Tithe As Per Scriptures? by Ubenedictus(m): 6:48pm On Dec 24, 2013
If you read the torah and the prophets, u will see that the tithe isn't for d rabbis, it is for the priests. The order of priest have fade away, those that remain can't even offer the sacrifices that pertain to them, judaism is past its glory days, for d reason above the rabbis can't collect tithe, even d remaining priest cant becos they no longer work in the temples.

The truth is that Christmas is not really about Jesus Christ and it seems that the only connection with him is in the name.

http://globalthots..com/2013/12/eleven-things-you-did-not-know-about.html
this is your opinion. I beg to disagree.
Christianity Etc › Re: Eleven Things You Did Not Know About Christmas by Ubenedictus(m): 6:36pm On Dec 24, 2013
Krak: 2. In Rome the festival of Saturnalia(In celebration of Saturn) was held around the Winter Solstice. They were times of revelry and wild celebration.

Among the upper class in Rome many celebrated Mithra(the Sun god). The birthday of Mithra was the holiest day of the year, December 25th the day of the Winter Solstice in Rome. Mithra had a miraculous birth and shepherds came to worship him after his birth. They had been celebrating him hundreds of years before Christ was born.

By the 4th Century A.D, the Catholic Church made it official, December 25th was to be the Feast Day of the Nativity. The Feast Day of the Risen SUN became the Feast Day of the Risen SON.
this is actually incorrect.

Kumuyi has more indept knowledge of the scripture, humility and grace than all the catholic popes combined.
Instead of them to humble themselves and learn from kumuyi, they resort to personality-attack.

I on fit run na. This is a very delicate topic and both differing opinions may be right depending on perspective. One is attracted to what he is attracted to, there is no way to rationalise that away, and yet ideas and concepts actually rule our lives to a large extent. Permit me to address d topic using myself as d subject. I'll probably date anyone i'm attracted to, bt marriage is so interesting, you need d other half to compliment you not alway pull u down. This puts a non-catholic spouse in an interesting/unfavourable position. I'll probably marry a non-catholic if we can find a way to work out our differences in faith. There are so many variables in dis issue. What i'm sure of is that i can't marry one who despises my faith. U don happy now?
