Boomark: Yes He did.then i rest my case |
Logicboy03: Ah, but Jesus was scandalous himself.really? |
Logicboy03: lol....My catholic church sells its own rosaries.actually d cath church is d first institution to condem slavery. And if ur church sell it own rosary then it doesnt go to d church but to d seller d church collects rent. And ur logic is defective increase in divorce rate doesnt make marriage a bad institution, bad priest do no make d church 'failed' |
berem: Oya! GEJ over to you.thank goodness they didn't give condition that our president must be a muslim.dis was what al qeda did, they wil use d money to stil fight us |
Logicboy03: You are no different from the sheep that support Oyedepo tithes. Just s they are not riding in his private jt, you are not cashing in on millions from the catholic churchin case u dont know making and selling rosaries isnt done by d vatican or any bishops. I was into d business and i can say it isnt bad, so im not on private jet and such doesnt mean i havent profited financially from d church. And hey my dear nobody is cashing ur proverbial millions, cash goes two ways in d church, for runing d church and d institutes in it and 4 charity. |
ijawkid: You do so in imitation of pagans whom you borrowed the tradition from...i told u dis b4 and it seem i have to repeat it again, u are superstitious. So bead counting has been added to the list of pagan stuff? I do not believe any action to b pagan unless d necessary disposition of act and will follows it. Counting of beads is counting of beads a simple action and it isnt intrisically evil. I count beads and say 'hail mary...' durin d rosary, i count beads and say 'Jesus son of d...have mercy on me' wen saying d Jesus prayer, i count my beads and say 'thank u lord Jesus' durin d thank u chaplet i also count beads and say "4 d sake of his passion have mercy on us and d whole world" durin d divine mercy chaplet. And in all these case i name it is purely xtian and has noting to do with pagan because an action cant b evil on it own. |
Logicboy03: lol.....I hope your son or daughter doesnt get molested by priests and then covered up by the catholic church. That would shake your faith and has done so for many peopleit cant be "covered up by the catholic church" 'cos d cath church is over a billion, a billion pipo cant cover up sumtin if it could it wont b a coverup no more. Some really ****** bishops did cover up and some priest did molest and while i do not wish it happened to those around me Scandal do not scarce me they instead preach to me "look unto Jesus d author and finisher of d faith". That is what scandal tell me. No man without fault, just man some do not cause other to miss d way. |
Boomark: The question still remains-did Jesus die on a cross or not?? |
truthislight: all the lies you and your RCC have fed people are very disgraceful.hahaha, now wu is lying?? |
Today all over d word catholic celebrate d solemnity of all saints, so to all my cath. Brothers i say happy solemnity. Every age has produced a crop of amazing and holy men and wmen wu go to make d amazing galaxy of "great crowd of witness" in d catholic church. There are canonised, beatified, venerable, d well known nd d little known, from all walks of life, all time frames, age and gender, so named in buks of saints many odas not, all too numerous to b counted. It is for all wu having accepted christ's saving grace and now in d heavenly realm dat this feast is instituted. This feast is meant to remind us all of d stuff each saint is made of; flesh and blood like us, to be counted among those favoured isnt enough to b a christian. Rather we have to cherish in our heart and show in our action "a desire to achieve santity" "be holy even as my father is holy", we must enter more deeply into d death-resurrection mystery of christ, we must die with him and so rise with him into glory with our sins nailed to d cross. Todays celebration gives us a reason to mediate. Today heb12:22-24 just makes more sense, "we are in mount zion d city of d living God, d heavenly jerusalem where d millions of angels are gathered 4 d festival wit d whole church and every is a first born son and a citizen of heaven, u have come to God himself d supreme judge, and been placed with d spirits of d just made perfect and to Jesus d mediator wu brings a new covenant and a blood of purification dat pleads more insistently than abels" and this even make me more happy as 2cor6:16,7:1, "we are Gods temple, God's own words are 'i will live and move and have my being among them, i'll b their God and they my pipo'...let us therefore rid ourselves of of all dat can defile our spirit and in d fear of God complet our consecration." "therefore, since we are surround by so great a cloud of witness, let us also lay aside every weight and sin which cling to closely and let us run wit perseveran d race dat is set b4 us, luking up 2 Jesus d pioneer and perfecter of our faith...". With all God's blessings i wish all a happy feast. Peace frm d most high. |
gregtochi: Recently I read an article on PM News on what the writer described as "Casino Pentecostalism". In it, he specifically talked about RCCG's attempt at monetizing God's covenant and blessings.not exactly the catholic church doesnt teach that wen u are initially justified that u do so by faith and works no! That isnt d church teaching instead she teaches that justification is a gift (grace) of God based on the merits of christ and it has preconditions like faith and atleast a love 4 God, d list is long but d church totally rejects it wen the word "alone" is added after "faith". 2 While protestants beleive the bible to be their sole authority (Sola Scriptura), Catholics beleive they derive their authority from the bible and the church's oral tradition that has been handed down over the centuries.what d church believes is called "vebrum Dei" i.e d word of God and she blive d word is transmited in scripture and tradition. |
plappville: Show us where did God command the catholic? I can see that you have been overfed too.a simple biblical principle, images arent condemned unless they become idols. U dont need a new command say make this and that image. |
This thread has disintegrated, the op shuld do something and put everybody back in line. I wish to comment on d first part of ur question. The rosary. To understand d rosary u nid a little abt its history. The prayer was called psalter from the word psalm because of its origin. In the early times of christianity men of like mind wu called themselves monks came 2gether and their maxim was prayer and work. Among their spiritual excercises is to study, meditate on the psalms actually many prayed 150psalms in about 2wks that was their communual prayer. Those wu lived around d monks were sumtimes, rather most times illitrate wu wish to join d prayer routine and they were encouraged to pray 150 "our father" and they counted them with beads, as time went on they also added an ancient prayer that were simply quotes from luke "hail mary... Blessed among..." that is how d rosary started until it was organise so each xtian can mediate on a part of scripture eg d resurrection while simply reciting d quote from luke. So d physical rosary is a counting bead used to count prayer. While rosary itself is a prayer christological and marian in character and also intercessory. So to ur question why do catholic pray with d rosary? We do so becos at time we recite prayers that need counting. |
italo: He got free?very true, it is done openly and very few condemn it. |
italo: He got free?very true |
afam4eva: Is the Archbishop of Canterbury to the Anglican church what the Pope is to the Catholic church?in a sense Yes, he is the primate though he only assume indirect jurisdiction. |
dopeJemi: Now this is something i was reasoning today at church, dopeJemi: Now this is something i was reasoning today at church, dopeJemi: Now this is something i was reasoning today at church, |
Logicboy03: The catholic church makes billions from Africa. That is my claim. I have proven it with their business model (offerings, donations, merchandise-rosaries, bibles etc).d catholic church includes me so im happy if other catholics and i make billions in africa. That cant b wrong can it? |
Logicboy03: The scandals will deter anyone who has common sense.so says logicboy. |
truthislight: Rubbish!!!that is what u say wen u dont have a defence. Thank u for proving me point. |
Boomark: According to the Gej analogy we have been using, this is what you meant by the bolded quote in the post above.u are also d temple of God does that mean u have "the fullnes of d deity"? I hope you know that as it stands now, He is still the High priest in service to God(you should know what high priests does and to whom, if not Google it and read) Heb 2:17.hahaha, my bible shows me that even afta d general judgement christ will still b at d right hand of his fada, how come?? I thought u said he will just b like u. |
Boomark: So when did he command you to make an image of some body you don't if he is a criminal in life and use it to represent Christ. To the point of bringing it to where you pray to Him.ofcuz i have scriptural backing to make images and even to put them in d house of worship so far as i dont worship the images themselves then nobody can accuse me of idolatry. |
I blive i answer dis b4, 4 d sake of peace i will ansa it again Enigma: On this occasion I will assume you have misunderstood my point rather than accuse you of lying.the primacy of d roman see(i dont know anything called "primacy of the roman Catholic church) is derived from the petrine primacy. Above all, this thread is about the interpretation of Matthew 16:18. Therefore my point with Augustine, Basil, John Chrysostom, Gregory Nazanzius etc etc etc is that they interpreted Mathew 16:18 as conferring authority on Peter as well as on all bishops worldwide and wherever --- and to some extent even on all Christians.u are confusing the literal sense with d allegorical. Was christ talking to all d apostles wen he said "u are peter"? In short, these early "church fathers" (and who were mostly NOT Roman Catholics) did not apply Matthew 16:18 to "papal primacy".really ? Most of the church father clearly identified d roman see with authority, do u mean this? And with them, I conclude that Matthew 16:18 does not provide any doctrinal basis for the claims of the Roman Catholic Church of "papal supremacy".are u saying that matthew 16:18 doesnt provide proof of petrine primacy ? That is the question, the apostle peter is d topic of d thread and if u claim that the church fathers didnt agree that that passage is about petrine primacy i have no problem with accusing u of intellectual dishonesty. |
Enigma: ^^ Firstly, I stand by what I have said.oh! U stand by what u said and u still do not show me where i lied. Beautiful. Secondly, I Have been discussing the topic of this thread and I have made posts directly on the topic. If you don't see them, there is nothing I can do really.actually what i see above on this page is "extra ecclesiam nulla salus", is that also on topic? Is d salvation topic a part of petrine primacy? Thirdly, as far as I understand it, there is no obligation or particular reason to discuss a thread topic with any particular person. Any person can make a contribution to a thread without addressing or discussing specifically with any other person. Thus, I do not have to discuss with you or with chukwudi44 or any other specific person ---very true especially not with the attitude that has been displayed.is it not suprising that u gave us a dead goat to beat?? That discussion ended in d other thread but u decided to bring it here. And i ask u again, since wen did two wrongs make a right? OK, below is that summary again. I don't particularly need to say anything again and, above all, you have the freedom to make whatever point you wish to make.i cant really quote a quote. |
Logicboy03: The Vatican City did not have a central bank until 2010/2011. The central bank is separate from the Vatican bank (IOR).u are "debunking catholic here" by refusing to show proof right? Where are d billions going into d vatican account? |
Logicboy03: Who made that claim? What I said was that the catholic church makes billions from Africa. That is a simple fact. Whether they put it in the bank or not was not my concern"the vatican makes billions from africa" is a silly idea u assumed and havent been able to back with proof. Where is ur proof of the african billion going to d vatican monthly or yearly. U have refused to provide proof, im i suppose to blive u simply because u say so? |
Enigma: "Behaving like a child" is at least better than lying.would u show me where and where i have lied? Or would u show me anything chukwudi quoted that wasnt said by d person he quoted? Where is the lie ?And talk of "behaving like a child" ---- let us again expose your dishonesty. OK, first a test: go through the posts of yourself, chukwudi44 and your two cheerleaders/supporters and come back to tell us if you people were not "behaving like a child" ----- on many occasions!and to my brilliant friend enigma, which of my posts were offensive? U have been refusing a discussion and busy pasting "extra ecclesiam nulla salus" instead of discussing peter and ihend principle of "d remnant". And my friend if as u claim i was very whatever, since when did two wrongs make a right?? Or more childishness equal maturity?? If u do not wish to discuss why are u on nairaland?? |
truthislight: do you imagined that we are blind and cannot read?hahaha, i cant blive u just said that, u are highly baised and prejudiced. Martin luther was untouchable even in the middle ages he had d full back of a king and kingdom anybody wu wanted luther shuld be ready for a war so luther had no reason to bend what he thought was the truth. Im no fan of luther on the long run, but to claim that the quote of luther provided above is "highly tinted" is to display intellectual dishonestly. Till luther died he understood that those word were refered to peter himself, luther would deny that dat power d full authority of the pope but he never denied that that passage was for peter. Please research on it. |
frosbel: John Wycliffeand how does that help ur point? |
truthislight: this was a new sentence.d question is, who was he talking to? Did u miss d question? |
Boomark: Broad is the way that leads to destruction. And many pass through it.d measure with which u judge is d same measure with which u shall b judged. |
Boomark: Hahaha!like d ark of d covenant and d image of cherubims in d temple right? My bible say he likes it, damn he even asked d israelites to make them. 2 don't bow to them or worship them, even if it is called holy sacrament or the virgin Mary whose image you have seen in movies.joshua prostrated with his face to d ground b4 d ark, my bible didnt say God was angry. U have become a false prophet saying that which God didnt say. |
