johnw74: for those other than rcc who are reading here
Joh 6:55 For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed.
John 6:53-55 In these verses Jesus repeats what he had in substance said before. Except ye eat the flesh ... - He did not mean that this should be understood literally, for it was never done, and it is absurd to suppose that it was intended to be so understood. Nothing can possibly be more absurd than to suppose that when he instituted the Supper, and gave the bread and wine to his disciples, they literally ate his flesh and drank his blood. Who can believe this? There he stood, a living man - his body yet alive, his blood flowing in his veins; and how can it be believed that this body was eaten and this blood drunk? Yet this absurdity must be held by those who hold that the bread and wine at the communion are “changed into the body, blood, and divinity of our Lord.” So it is taught in the decrees of the Council of Trent; and to such absurdities are men driven when they depart from the simple meaning of the Scriptures and from common sense. It may be added that if the bread and wine used in the Lord’s Supper were not changed into his literal body and blood when it was first instituted, they have never been since. The Lord Jesus would institute it just as he meant it should be observed, and there is nothing now in that ordinance which there was not when the Saviour first appointed it. His body was offered on the cross, and was raised up from the dead and received into heaven. Besides, there is no evidence that he had any reference in this passage to the Lord’s Supper. That was not yet instituted, and in that there was no literal eating of his flesh and drinking of his blood. The plain meaning of the passage is, that by his bloody death - his body and his blood offered in sacrifice for sin - he would procure pardon and life for man; that they who partook of that, or had an interest in that, should obtain eternal life. He uses the figure of eating and drinking because that was the subject of discourse; because the Jews prided themselves much on the fact that their fathers had eaten manna; and because, as he had said that he was the bread of life, it was natural and easy, especially in the language which he used, to carry out the figure, and say that bread must be eaten in order to be of any avail in supporting and saving men. To eat and to drink, among the Jews, was also expressive of sharing in or partaking of the privileges of friendship. The happiness of heaven and all spiritual blessings are often represented under this image, Mat_8:11; Mat_26:29; Luk_14:15, etc.
Joh_6:55
Is meat indeed - Is truly food. My doctrine is truly that which will give life to the soul.
Albert Barnes haha Albert Barnes and Johnw74 has shown they can't discern the body of Christ. 1 cor 11:29 For those who eat and drink without discerning the body of Christ eat and drink judgment on themselves. |

johnw74: uben, more lies of yours and satans church exposed:
THE PRIESTHOOD
The Roman Catholic Church teaches that Jesus Christ ordained the twelve apostles to the priesthood at the Last Supper and that the powers of the priesthood were handed down during the past two thousand years. This teaching is clearly contrary to the Word of God.
In the Old Testament the work of Christ was prefigured under the three offices of prophet, priest and king. The nation of Israel had each office. With the coming of Christ each of these offices found its fulfillment in Him. Thus in the New Testament there is no need for a human sacrificing priesthood. John 19:30. It is consummated. I Timothy 2:5. There is one God, and one Mediator...Christ Jesus. Hebrews 7:24. Because he continues forever, has an everlasting (non-transferable, intransmissible) priesthood. Hebrews 7:25. He lives always to make intercession. Hebrews 7:27. He does not need to offer sacrifices daily. Hebrews 9:12. Having obtained eternal redemption. Hebrews 10:10. We have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. I Corinthians 12:28. God indeed has placed some in the Church, first apostles, secondly prophets, thirdly teachers...(no mention of sacramental priests). Ephesians 4:11. He Himself gave some men as apostles, and some as prophets, others again as evangelists, and others as pastors and teachers...(again no mention of sacramental priests). I Peter 5:1-3. I, your fellow-presbyter and witness...(Nothing about being a priest).
The office of priest is not the same as minister. The concept of a mediating, sacrificing priesthood originated and developed under Cyprian, the theological authority in the West until the time of Augustine, and was part of the merger of paganism with Christianity. Nowhere in the Scriptures will on find evidence of a mediating, sacrificing priesthood after Christ. the concept of a new testament ministerial priesthood come from Paul “On some points I have written to you very boldly … because of the grace given me by God to be a minister of Christ Jesus to the Gentiles in the priestly service of the gospel of God so that the offering of the Gentiles may be acceptable, sanctified by the Holy Spirit” (vv. 15-16). - Romans 15:14-16 read your Bible sometimes |

femi4: Show me scriptures where Paul got baptized by water
Don't get me wrong, water baptism is a good thing but its not a ticket to salvation but rather an evidence of salvation no water baptism is the covenantal action of salvation Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life. For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly also be united with him in a resurrection like his. For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin— because anyone who has died has been set free from sin. Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, he cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over him. The death he died, he died to sin once for all; but the life he lives, he lives to God. |

2. Baptism doesn't wash away sins, its a symbolic representation after confession of sin and believe in Jesus
3. Jesus did it to fulfil all righteousness. If it was compulsory, how come all his disciples didn't go through the process
4. Peter said to them, "Repent, and each of you be baptized ......not the other way round.
ROM 10:9-10 9If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved in baptism sins are washed away. act 2:37, 38 and we receive the spirit. in baptism we as saved as an appeal to God for a good conscience 1 pt in baptism we identify with the death of Christ and freed from the bondage of the law. Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life. For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly also be united with him in a resurrection like his. femi4: You don't ask to be baptized, you asked to be save. Confession is made unto Salvation. Water baptism doesn't save you from sins. Its a symbolic representation of being death to sin and resurrected in Jesus Christ. Jesus did it to fulfill all righteousness.
If that person dies without being baptized, he's still make heaven provided that he's saved
That's why the apostle focus more on baptism of the holy ghost actually to be saved you should be baptised. Acts 2 37 Now when they heard this, they were acutely distressed and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “What should we do, brothers?” 38 Peter said to them, “Repent, and each one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 For the promise is for you and your children, and for all who are far away, as many as the Lord our God will call to himself.” |
