Well said. Seems that we are heading for a Cameron Egypt final. |
So U still dey laff in quotes ![]() |
His contract runs from till 2010 (wat a mess!!!!) , firing him will cost NFA $1.5 million.Thats the dilemma facing Lulu ( excuse me, Mumu) and his board. |
Well, dats one option. But it will heavily depend on the number of Akpu-obi clansmen that U have. Woe betide U , if the man have more "clans men" than U Also if the financial power of the man pass ur own , na for kirikiri all those ur clansmen go sleep |
How can U guys all just pass the" condemn him" speech on a guy u dont even know. ![]() |
Nella:Well, if U are talking about pre nup in Nigeria, I guess I have never seen any. On the same hand,U wont get one Kobo by dragging the man to court in Nigeria. The guy go just send u back to ur mama house with no sweat. Na In laws go come dey beg am make him take U back. But U will get a whole lot given the way the system works here , but then thats why I raised the issue of the pre nup thingy. |
The Nigerian team was packaged so well that wearing the Nigerian shirt then was a honour. Players like Jonathan Akpoborie, Ricky Owubokiri and even Peter Rufai had to plead , beg and reach out to the media, complaining that Westerhoff left them out of the team. Rufai even had to go on one Dutch TV station to lay out his grievances. Now U have players like Celestine not honoring invitations, Yakubu sneaking out of Camp to go do God knows what and even Obafemil going on a holiday spree when he is supposed to be with the National team. Total disrespect for the national team!!!! |
@ dayokanu The kind of machinery set in motion during the Westerhoff's era was actually setting us up for the super power of African football (We can still attain that if we put our acts together). It is not by default that we were ranked 5th in the world in 94. We actually merited that at that time with the brand of football that we play. Tall defenders, stout midfielders , pacy wingers and a clinical finisher. During that era we got Silver in 90, Bronze in 92 and Gold in 94. The Eaglets went to Japan and picked up the Gold in 94. Jo Bonfrere combined the Eaglets and the Eagles as a team and that got us the Olympic gold @ 96. If that is not dominance, then I dont know what is. If we had continued on building on what we already have, there is no question that we would have been among the top three in the world. When Pele was predicting an African coun try winning the world cup he actually had Nigeria in mind. So it is not out of line that we expect more from our team. We have shown times without number that we have an abundance of talent, the exploits of the Siasia tutored Eagles and also very recently , the Tella totored Eaglets are examples. Football should be run like a business with a very professional attitude. That was what Westerhoff was doing, he made the Nigerian team so attractive that Puma and Adidas were falling over each other trying to win kitting rights. Players were paid thier allowances , he maintained a home bred team (even tho he did not used most of them; I still remenber the likes of Isaac semitoje and Edema Fuludu), he kept an eagle eye over the League and that was how Finidi got his chance. Now all we have are a bunch of twats who just run around trying to grab as money as they can. |
Sacking Berti is just a cosmetic measure. He has to go alright, that is the nature of the coaching job. But is that the solution to our problem. I think our problem is more deep rooted than Berti. NFA or whatever they call themselves these days should be brought to answer some serious soul serching question. To me, I lay the blame squarely on thier incompetent , greedy heads. |
Ol girl, U r not smelling rats oooo. Thats just the way the cookie crumbles in long distance relationship. The long distance leaves a lot of room for distrust. U just have to take the time and talk to him, let him know wat you expect or expected. This all comes with time. As for, the rate of calling, I assure u it is expensive. I personally do not expect any of my friends back home to call me, if they do then it is a big honor to me. I do most of the calling. That is not to say that he is right for going two months without giving u a call. However, it all depends on his income. If the guy is struggling to make both ends meet, then making long distance calls will be tghe last thing on his mind. U just have to figure out what his problem is before u pass judgement. |
Will u sharap dia ![]() Remember u are on a Naija thread and rite now we can not take responsibility for our actions |
That is if u did not sign a pre nup , abi |
O gini na eme ebe a ![]() I hope I got that one rite ![]() |
This is not a matter of local vs foreign coach. It is the matter of A COACH. Nobody gives a damn where the coach comes from as far as u are competent. Ghana, Ivory coast et al are all tutored by foreigners. Even the English hired a foreign coach. That Berti Vogts failed does not translate to a judgement on all foreign coaches. After all the best spell we had in football was engineered by a foreigner. The NFA , just like other parastatals in Naija, is a colossal failure. Sani Lulu should pack his bag and go home , of course with Berti. I dont know much about coachiong but I thot the logical thing to do when u are in a knock out stage and playin g against io men is to make the extra man count. I personally thot he should have brought in an extra attacker with instructions to help out in the midfield. |
ThoniaSlim:Rolls of chair laffing ![]() tamia:A bird in hand is worth more than 2 in the bush ![]() |
So we have a doctor (abi na dentist ) in this house? How much be consultation fees ![]() |
On Current form it is very obvious that the malians and the Ivorians have the upper hand. |
LMAO @ dual core U should not disown ur country on the account of the result of one football match Anyway, whether Vogts stays or not, the trouble still dey. Unless our NFA sit up and look around them to see the strides other African nations are making then our team would still be super fowls. |
@ Muki Is it not past ur bedtime ![]() |
4 dat one we no get rival ![]() |
@ I man Yeah, I am quite aware of the circumstances in Westerhoff's case ( with military backing and all). What I am talking about is actually the time he was given and that is why I am not blaming Vogts or any other coach who will be unfortunate to coach Nigeria in these circumstances. I lay my blame squarely on the NFA. Westerhoff formula was not in reference to the man himself but to the kind of long term plan that was advertently or inadvertently (tho the latter seems likely) laid down. Hire a coach , not necessarily a world class coach, but a young coach with vision and hunger and belief and love for young african talents. Let him draw up a plan , a long term plan. Make sure he lives in Nigeria and let him follow the local league (that was how Finidi Goerge was found in Calabar rovers). Give him time and space and I assure you we will regain back our position. It is gonna take time tho , cos we have really given a lot away. About the academies, I* thot we already had those? ![]() |
Of course, Berti Vogts knows he is leaving. That one is a guarantee. The NFA will be happy to find a scape goat nto cover thier ineptitude and greed. But the question remains, wat next. Firing Berti does it actually solve the problem. We got beaten by Cameroon twice in two different nations cup (one in our backyard). Was Vogts the coach then? We never got to the last world cup cos of Angola. ANGOLA!!!!! omg. Was it Vogts then? Japan/Korea world cup was a disaster . Again , no Vogts then? Our local league is in complete shambles. Certainly not Vogts. The common denominator that has remained from one disaster to another is the adminisrtation. Call it the NFA, Sports ministry or the League board. That is where our major problem lies. Not the coaches and definitely not due to a lack of talent in the nation. If a coach like Westerhoff can win the ANC with the super eagles and his assistant Bonfrere can win the Olympic gold , it tells me that any coach in Nigeria can succeed in Nigeria. We are that good. All we need is just to figure out how to administer properly. |
![]() That is a very beffiting name given the circumstances. I could not agree more. Super Fowls ![]() |
We just have to sit down and look @ what I call the Westerhoff formula. I am not saying we bring him back but we should really go back and study how he did things. I don't think that it is just a mere co incidence that the Golden years of Nigerian football was in his era and even the glory that we have been living on was just the continuation of the groundwork he had laid. Just like everything in Nigeria, that groundwork has been broken and the center can not hold. This is really sad. Last I heard, the man (Westerhoff was still in Nigeria, Kwara state to be precise) |
@ doyindamus And u think that seyi olofinjana is any better in terms of creativity. The last team nigeria had was in the mid nineties. The US 94 eagles and the Japan 93 eaglets. A combination of these two generation of players brought us the Olympic gold in 96. After that it has been downhill. |
haha |
Mukina , sharap dia jor ![]() I go wound u ooooo ![]() |
