People come to church and have no clue why. They sing few songs, listen to a sermon, and go back to their lives without any change.
The problem is that they have no understanding as to why they are doing what they are doing.


If the common church attender comes to “worship” on Sunday but does not know why, then we have a problem. Why, then, should you go to church? To be more theologically accurate, why should you gather with the church — since the church is not the building down the street, but the group of believers?



SO WHY DO WE GATHER AS THE CHURCH?

We “church” to glorify God. We gather around God. Romans 12:1 commands us to present our bodies as living sacrifices to God. This lifestyle propels communal witnessing (1 Peter 2:9), repenting (Acts 2:38), worshipping (Psalm 150; Ephesians 5:19) and teaching (Colossians 3:16). We gather because we are one body, drawn together by God to be a people of God who live for God. We testify to God’s greatness. We disciple others through life together. We serve, teach and encourage, not just one another, but the world at large.

We do not ultimately come together for Sunday worship service to experience an emotional response that brings joy to us as consumers, though many Westerners gather for this very reason. Rather, we gather because God has united us.

We gather because we live life together in being effective witnesses to our local communities. 

We gather because the diversity of the local church should mirror heaven to a dying, lost and sinful world. Christians are made to gather.

Go back to the origin of Church. Jesus told Peter, "You are Peter, and on this Rock, I shall build my Church and the gates of Hell shall not overcome it".
This implies that you have to do everything that Jesus asked us to do. Take a sheet of paper and pen. Open the gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John and as you read from the beginning to the end, write down exactly each statement that Jesus himself said:
No 1, "unless a man is baptised by water and the Holy Spirit, he cannot enter the Kingdom of God"
No 2, "go and sin no more"
....
At the end, ask yourself if your current church teaches all these things. If your answer is No, then you are in the wrong church. A church that is not following Jesus Christ.

I was in my old church last week Sunday, and I discovered that alot has changed, majority of the young alter server have learnt how to make use of one or two musical instrument, and I was wow.

My set never had the intention then to be an alter server and still learn how to play one of the church musical Instruments, all our mind then was to become a priest, which alot of my set are now priest in their different parishes.

It is a beautiful thing to learn and know how to play one of the musical instrument.

Nairalanders, which of the musical instruments do you know how to play?

It's also a good thing for a composer to co-ordinate all the instruments and a conductor to direct them, otherwise, Nigerians in their typical boastful nature will all want to outshine each other. The drum will be so loud that we can't hear any other instruments. The singer will grab the mic and shout pass Celine Dion, we won't even hear the drum again.

Are musical instruments confined to only church?
I play keyboard, which I bought outside the church and learnt outside the church.
