The rest outsource their engines from specific manufacturers like Bosch, Prat and Whitney, General Electric, Brig and Stratton, e.t.c.

Boeing imports their aeroplane engines from Prat and Whitney.

Engines are advanced technologies and it's an industry on its own.

It would take a while for a car manufacturer to establish their own in-house engine suppyly.

Nigeria was developing well to meet foreigin nations standard.
But our developement has scattered and were going backwards.
I lived in UK, went round and round all the markets. I never saw: Bucket, Jerry Can, Kerosene stove, Generator petrol or diesel.
Such things are never found in the market.
The only day my petrol finished and I had to push car and buy fuel, it's only this tiny container I saw at the filling station.

I think in the uk, they have something like small claims court that dispenses all those small cases. Besides their credit rating system compels you to avoid bad credit. Your default in loan payments ensures you have difficulties financing your next car, house tv etc. And you know in western countries you cannot survive without acess to credit. So even if the average oyinbo does not want to pay, there is motivation to pay.
Here in naija, nothing like that. There are rating companies but not fully grounded.

But see it. The cost of implementing rating systems here in Nigeria
1. Computer/server that is on 24/7 with up-to-date unaltered data. No hacking.
2. Internet security to protect such type of device.

Even though I think the video is acted, you owe money, you pay. You take money only when you are guaranteed 100% incomming income.
You do not take loans hoping one brother will give you money when time reaches.
If they had collected collateral ie his property eg his car or iPhone worth more than the loan, wount he have paid the money?
You have to realise that Nigerians do not pay loans. Even if they have the money, they will give excuse why they have more pressing issues for the money.
3 weeks ago Zenith bank told me they have stopped quick cash loans, why, people don't pay, and they do not have the time to chase debtors!
2 years ago, I wanted to pay my painter for a car painting job. He called me to give another bank account. I asked why, he said he owed money on that account and they will debit him if my money enters. Anyway, I told him I was uncomfortable doing further business with him since he had become an onigbese. Less that 1 hr later, he called me that I can transfer, that he has paid his igbese of 20k + and cleared his debt. I proceeded to transfer and he did the job.

Well the issue is just complex. Technically, one should only take a loan when you don't "need" the money. As per, you already have exactly that amount. So that even in the worstest case, you just carry their money and give them back without all this drama.
Long ago I worked in a call center overseas and got to realise that white people too do this dodging of loan.
The call center setup an automated system of calling the debtors.
On our PC screen we just see, name address and amount owed. Then start pushing the person according to the amount.
I used to deal with all those £100-£200 people.
Another section of our office deal with £1000 and above people. Threaten them with court/police/prison etc.
I never knew how the matter ended for the bad cases. But some office oyibos told me that a bailiff would go to the person's house, break down the door and carry them to prison. Just like this our Naija guy in the video above. But rarely does it reach that stage sha.

You can build and electric car
It used batteries.
You can get an inverter system to charge the car
But you need exponentially large and expensive solar panels to charge ONE electric car before sunset.

In the us, the average income (yearly) is about 31,000, with that amount you can live even though not very comfortable, you should be ok. In essence what we need is not increment of wages but rather strengthening of the naira so your money has a higher buying power.

For the TUC that made this statement, it should be a joke because I don't want to believe that members of a trade union do not know simple economics

How can we achieve strengthening the naira?
I've always maintained that manufacturing and exportation is the way to go about this.
But no one wants to set up industries. It's too difficult/risky/expensive maybe.

So I guess that's why TUC would just accept the weak Naira like that and clamour for an increase in minimum wage.
Worst case our money will shift and become like Zimbabwe Dollar, big for nothing valueless money.

I remember when I studied abroad. Everything was quite fast there. School registration, ID card issue and opening bank account. I opened one with HSBC. I have no prior knowledge of HSBC. It was just conveniently located near the school.
I filled out the account opening form. I guess they must have asked for my overseas (Nigerian) home address. I filled it out, opened account and put money with them.
Now it turns out that they may have sent a mail to Nigeria. Once NIPOST saw the mail, they opened the letter and wrote their own with fake paper. The NIPOST own was asking me to fill out form with my credit/debit card number, expiry and then ccv at the back. They sent this letter like 3 or 4 times to my Nigeria home address.
My mum didn't know this. She just phoned me told me about the mulitple letters and had them posted back to me in UK.
I was suspicious and never filled the form. I took the fake NIPOST letter to the HSBC bank, where they confirmed it was fake. That somebody in my NIPOST post office has tampered with the original letter to try to 419 me.

This passport thing that govt want to do now, I laugh in French.

The problem is that everybody does get an Education. In theory, Nigeria is an English speaking country and the language of our government is English. 99% of books sold in the country are written in English. News, TV, Radio and other media are English. Hence everybody should know English.
In practice, people are rejecting English because of colonial impact on them. But they aren't getting educated with ANOTHER language. So they end up uneducated.
Chinese have 100% of their Education in their Chinese language. So they end up still as Scientist, doctors, lawyers, engineers IN THEIR language. Same with other NON English countries. Professionals practice 100% in their language.
But in Nigeria, once you reject English, then there's no book for you to read to become a professional in anything. You are tending toward illiteracy instead.
