vickydankal:To me it’s not even about the country working, but to highlight how tribal we are. As someone mentioned, we don’t even have them as ministers sef, they are no where to be found and I’m sure we have white Nigerians. We are so tribal that we don’t even let other tribes within the same country lead our states. Like say a Yoruba guy can become governor of Anambra tomorrow? Haha! Naija... Yet we can go out as black people and lead in other countries. The situation really is telling! Check nairaland front page periodically for how we celebrate Nigerians going abroad and holding government positions. |
I’m always seeing news of Nigerians going abroad and getting some political position, and in the United States, a black man even became the President. How many white officials do we in turn have in government positions all across Nigeria Does this now point to blacks being in fact more racist/tribalist than whites? Makes you think! |
Draslo:Obviously a lot is wrong, but the so called leaders don’t even acknowledge these common-sense faults and it’s irritating. Even simple things like traffic rules that if enforced will cut down traffic times significantly; simplest of things like enforcing lane discipline. Back to the issue of cctv at Nigerian stations though, I find it very annoying that they keep claiming how their stations are being waylaid by unknown people, yet no one in the whole police hierarchy could stand up and point out “Hey guys, maybe it would be a good idea to have cameras all around our facility, you know!” |
Don’t tell me he doesn’t have to say anything, that it’s not his style and bla bla bla What other democratic setting will a leader not come out to address things as bad as school kids being kidnapped? I thought a leader was supposed to lead? We only see and hear from the president every couple of months regardless of whatever catastrophe envelopes the nation. It seems funny now that people used to mock GEJ for addressing the public and looking “clueless” when visiting disaster zones, really funny I tell you! What then can be said of the current president who barely even tries? |
I know last time I visited a police station in Nigeria, I didn’t see one single computer, but I hope at least they have cameras. It would be a monumental shame is a WHOLE POLICE STATION doesn’t have cctv, like... They keep saying unknown hun men, but if you were a real police station for crying out loud, you should be able to release some videos of the siege on your stations, no so? What am I missing? |
uuzba:lol, that's why I said when they become prevalent. also, no matter what, charging an electric vehicle will always be cheaper than fueling a petrol car plus, you could always charge with solar power, even if it's at a slow rate over a weekend with solar power. |
Do you guys think he will be arrested as soon as his immunity expires? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MGCvXTISNns |
Once Electric Vehicles become more prevalant, reliance on petrol should drastically reduce.

Seniorwriter:It is just for the form, you can hear him in the video say that. Also remember when Buhari said he had to borrow money to buy his own form? Which was then in the 10s of millions. The corruption in apc and pdp starts at the very beginning. I remember when oshiomole said the price is high to weed out the weak men, so only strong men apply. Of course that makes no sense whatsoever, as the parties want the money and candidates that have money period. I was even shocked to learn independent candidates for USA presidency have to pay a ballot fee of $500. Imagine!! This country is just too corrupt, and it is clear for all to see, but we just always brush it off. How can it take 26 million just go get on a ballot? What is the official annual salary of the position minus bonuses that warrants a 26 million naira upfront payment? Things are just too weird in this nation |
Imaging PDP charging 26 million naira to get on a ballot. Something that won’t cost above $2,000 in America. Yet we expect people to pay that money and not be corrupt. We need to look else as voters, forget all this apc, pdp, rubbish Think about it deeply, what sort of Democratic Party charges that much just to get on a ballot. My people, shine your eyes. |
The country is fundamentally wrong, so we are just patching and barely moving. Why do you think the likes of Tinubu can have Bullion vans drive into his house on a day before election and yet face no consequences, but even be presented as a front runner for an election? Why do the likes of Ganduje face no consequences when seen red handed stuffing his agbada with dollar notes? A video available for all on YouTube Why do the likes of Ibori get treated to a huge welcome party after those welcoming him know that he had stolen so much money from them, robbing them and their children of development? Because it is “our theif”, so mind your business. “We know he is a thief but since your theif hasn’t been convicted yet, why are you disturbing our own theif” Every tribe pulling in different directions. Ask her if she can go have a picnic in some parts of the north with bum shorts, hair flowing on a beautiful sunny day. Of course individually, some Nigerians are gifted and most would be if under the right circumstances, but I’m afraid the country itself was never meant to be one cohesive unit. |
A number of leading countries in the world have their eyes set on 2030-2035 for the ban of sales of new petrol vehicles. This would in turn translate to a fall in oil prices as the demand for oil would be drastically reduced after taking so many petrol based vehicles off the roads. I suggest the country or the different countries after a split, invest heavily in education, and not just academic education but social education as well, thereby increasing our chances of attracting foreign investments in manufacturing.
|
The number of children on the roads is staggering Maybe it’s only when one goes to a different country and comes back to Nigeria that you realize just how abnormal this is You have children jumping on cars at every junction, holding on to moving cars, peeping through windows Well Nigeria was never designed to work, do I guess these are all symptoms of a bad country |
gaetano:But isn’t this funny when you think about it? The fact that a country must be split into peoples that speak the same language, seems like such a foreign concept to Nigerians, after the British came and joined vastly different people together. The British just came and drew map for black men, not considering any implications but focused on profit only, but the same black man that was conquered still upholds the arbitrary maps. It’s like if an armed robber came and broke the fence in your house, thus joining you and your neighbors compounds. When the robbers leave, won’t you want to build back your wall? It’s funny how people think that a country with so many tribes can move in the one direction, almost like giving all passengers in a plane access to their own flight stick and expecting the plane to fly a correct course. The Igbo passengers want to go left, the Yorubas right, the hausas... and so on. I wonder what the proponents of one Nigeria use as strong justification for the conquest by the British. Weak points raised are, we have been together long so let’s manage and bla bla bla... manage till when exactly? You guys don’t even speak the same language for the most part. When you ask most countries what language they speak, they majorly give one major language and maybe a minor to account for immigrants, but come to Nigeria and ask what language do you guys speak and you are bombarded with a whole slew of languages, almost like how the Tower of Babel was struck down and different languages where cast on the builders THEREBY CAUSING CONFUSION. Nigeria is confused fundamentally, and that is because she was a conquered territory. It is up to the inhabitants that are now free to decide how they want to progress. |
Different uniform men on the road in a confused country Police, lasma, local gov, frsc, vio, bbc, fox... What a confused nation. Other countries, all they have is POLICE for all things traffic Funny country |
I may not have agreed with all the methods of #Endsars, especially blocking commuters. However, this has resulted to lekki tollgate being liberated from the fraudulent toll on an already existing road. There is no more daily suffering due to traffic at that particular spot, bashed cars and extremely chaotic queues. They must be hailed as Heroes after all is said and done. P.S, not the thugs that burnt things, but the genuine protesters that wanted the best for Lagos and Nigeria When we used to pay those tolls, they didn't even use the money to proved street lights, to paint lane markings and so on. The one the pisses me off personally is how they didn't even paint lanes throughout the expressway. They let the original lanes fade out and didn't think they ought to repaint them. I just never understood that. One day or one weeks worth of toll revenue could have painted PERFECT lands from the first toll gate to the next, but they never did that. It just shows how corruption was rife at that gate, so insane. Have you driven past the lekki-epe toll gate recently compared to the before? Share you experience |
Nigerians please let’s do something about this. Even if it’s just voting the right people into power please. You can’t be voting people in just because of tribalism or hatred, or whatever negative reasons because of spite. There are so many people that can shake up governance at all levels, EXTREMELY brilliant Igbo, Yoruba and Hausa people. People making drones, business moguls, intelligent teachers, doctors, engineers, marketers... why then do we choose agberos, godfathers and the likes? Elections are not parties, they have real and serious consequences My people, black men and women, we deserve so much better you and I. God did not create us so suffer in a nation blessed with resources. Just last week there was a thread here were the senate said Nigeria is poor, yet look at how they ride in the richest cars. |
Black man is funny indeed. What is the purpose of all these traditional posts? The kneeling, lying, turning...? Will all these lead to any technological advancement? Food Security? Electricity supply and Electric Vehicles? Will all these kneeling and all build you a space program? If not for white people men, blacks will still be kneeling naked while the one being "kneeled to" will be feeling like a god on earth, mtcheew Absolute Nonsense, I tell ya |
On the road converted to one-way at sandfill, four-point area in victoria island, police have now formed checkpoint at night. I think they do this, cause they know that traffic must now flow through them (due to the new one-way), so they take advantage of the new layout. They were told to embrace patrols which they seem to have been doing in the day time, as they stop one way drivers with their police vehicles while patrolling, but it seems at night, they want to turn into something else. I was shocked when I had to pass there recently at night. About 6 policemen all on foot, shining torchlights were at the sandfill junction, blocking both the left (used to go towards fourpoint) and the right (used to go to ozumba and lekki epe expressway). It was quiet nerve raking to reach the junction and be bombarded by so many flash lights. If they claim they are doing this for security, then it would be better to stick to patrols as they can give chase and respond faster with vehicles as opposed to stashing so many police officers on foot at only one junction. |
History555:Wish I could like this a billion times. They leave open gutters and wonder why stuff enters an OPEN gutter |
VEHINTOLAR:Exactly! I haven't seen anybody list the specific law that Twitter broke |
This was a good question raised on another thread and I believe it deserves its own focused attention. Can those in support of the ban tell us exactly what law Twitter has broken in Nigeria? If you want Twitter to register in Nigeria, then what about the 100,000 other apps on PlayStore and AppStore? After all Nigerians pay money to buy some games and other apps. |
and today many black men on nairaland have proven my point with the talk about IPOB. They claim that they must uphold this union forced on us by the British, against pleas from their own kind. They know this country was formed by the British to benefit the British, yet they refuse to come together to work out a way forward for themselves. The initial purpose of the company called Nigeria or Royal Niger company was to remit profits to the British. Still you act like you all came together to form a Nigeria with your own sweat and blood. Funny enough, when the same British tell you to unban Twitter, you will tell them you are a sovereign country. A sovereign country created by them, sigh. You are talking back to your creator? |
He said instead of paying taxes they have been running all over Nigeria catching Pokémon From now on, every Pokémon caught will be subject to Nigerian tax law. Why haven’t Pikachu caught IPOB? -Lai Mohammed ![]()

Komolafe89:Have you added all the deaths you see here on nairaland everyday? 20 dead today, 100 tomorrow... I think the problem is we have now become used to such news |
plaindealer:Fair enough Sorry I thought you were a full zombie, my bad |
Just a reminder to CBN these guys are always guilty of any law they set |
Beancounter93:Cool analysis, but you can’t really put the whole south under the IPOB umbrella, as they have detractors in the south as well. |
plaindealer:After all this long writing, if we ask you now if Nigeria is ready for state police, won’t you still say no? Lol |
Of all the threads on Buhari today, the one on IPOB is by far the most popular, hitting 18 PAGES They also said they shut down millions of Nigerians from Twitter because of IPOB I think it’s interesting how popular the movement has become
|
ivolt:We must give thanksgiving for even seeing him after months and months It wasn’t even live. Nigerians deserve much better and can do much better |
