What was Gbajabiamila's opinion as outspoken member of the 7th national assembly when Nyako sent a letter to int'l community to stop sales of ammunition to Nigeria as requested by GEJ to fight terrorism? As Foyese done anything differently from what Murtala Nyako did? Why are these APC guys are so hypocritical?

It is a pity that, all the actors and actresses that stage-managed the chibok girls scam were graciously rewarded. Even the principal of the said Govt secondary school, chibok is now a commissioner in Borno state. That was the little way the govt could compensate her for a job welldone except for Oby who did not get anything in return. I don't see anything wrong with any elected/selected govt official taking an oath of office any where. The constitution did not stipulate a particular venue for such occasion. What matters is the acceptance or approval of such individual by the appropriate authority (house of assembly). Even in the US, recall, President Nixon took an oath of office while on air. This happened immediately after J.F.Kenedy was assasinated. Traditionally, one would have thought of allowing the plane to land before any swearing in. However, a govt that will perform will do so irrespective of the venue the officials were sworn in. I'm expecting the people of Kogi to set a feasible agenda for their newly sworn in officials rather than duelling on issues with no practical impact to the development of the state.

The alleged mastermind of the Independence Day bombing in 2010, Charles Okah, has died in Kuje prisons where he has been held in custody for a number of years now, according to 247ureports.com.
That twin bomb blast on October 1, 2010, which was the first to be witnessed in Nigeria’s capital, Abuja, left scores dead and many more injured.
Quoting “sources close to the prison administration,” 247ureports.com said that Okah died in prison custody shortly after returning from a scheduled court appearance.
Although the information surrounding his alleged death remains sketchy, there are indications he may have died of suicide.
Just yesterday, Charles Okah had attempted to kill himself while at the court house – for a court appearance.
A security agent who spoke to 247ureports.com regarding the handling of high priced suspects as Charles Okah indicate that he might have also died from mismanaged interrogation by prison officials and other government investigators.

I think, Power will be best for him afterall, he boasted he has what it takes to solve power problem in 8 months. We are waiting!

Odinkalu is right in his submission. It doesn't matter what has prompted the President to take this decision. The danger here is the precedent, what if he decides to increase his salary tomorrow? There must be a procedure for everything under a democratic system which believes so much in the rule of law. If his action is not tamed now whether it's a welcome development or otherwise, we will only encourage him to act outside the content of our constitution. A pay cut is a positive change but must follow a legal process otherwise it becomes illegal.

Instead of Aregbe to focus on how to bring about meaningful development to his state, increase IGR, he is busy blaming GEJ and PDP for decrease in State allocation as if he is blind to the fall in price of crude oil. The simple question is " if he can't afford to pay salaries, how does he intend to develop the state?
State governor who can't pay salaries should cease to collect federal allocation and the federal government should pay all the staff from such state allocation before remmitting the left over to such state.

Same Aregbesola who came in and increased Osun indebtedness by the so-called creation of job (scam). How can you just wake up and created some schemes like the so called "OYES" without thorough consideration? Job creation is not about bringing in thugs, politicians relatives who rigged you into power to Government ministries and institutions. Productivity must be directly proportionate to existing workforce otherwise, such is just an invitation to loot, share the state treasury at the expense of development.

ABUJA—THE President- elect, General Muhammadu Buhari yesterday painted a gloomy picture in the economic development of his administration as he said that the decline in the revenues due to fall in oil prices poses a great threat to his administration’s development agenda.

GBuhari-oilen. Buhari who visited the newly elected Senators and House of Representatives members who are undergoing induction course in preparation for the 8th National Assembly in Abuja also said that the decline in revenue would affect the reconstruction of devastated areas in the country as a result of insurgency.

He reminded the elected members of the 8th assembly of the challenges the nation had been facing which he also said would continue in the near future.

The challenges according to him include general insecurity and insurgency that has caused extreme human hardship and destruction of lives, livelihoods that would take over a decade to rebuild across most of North Eastern Nigeria and some parts of North western Nigeria.

Another threat to his administration according to him was the devastation and environmental degradation in the Niger Delta area which he said must be attended to.

Others include, “endemic corruption which has crippled human and infrastructure development for decades. Unacceptably poor provision of power supply which has had a crippling effect on development of small businesses and indeed the wider economy.

“Deindustrialization for the past three decades leading to closure of many industries and migration of many to other African countries. Unacceptably high levels of unemployment and especially Youth Unemployment reaching over 40 per cent.”

Besides, Gen. Buhari mentioned high cost of governance that has been crowding out the nation’s capital and human development, erosion of public social services such as infrastructure, health and education as well as lack of development in the agricultural and solid mineral sectors as areas that should be aggressively addressed.

While soliciting the support of the lawmakers, the President-elect said, “The legislature is a critical component and necessary ingredient of democracy and good governance. The legislature by nature is inherently democratic in the sense that all members are equal and are elected representatives of the Nigerian people.

“As President-elect, I recognize this fact and believe that legislators carry this heavy burden of representation with all the seriousness it deserves.

“For a president to be successful in addressing community development and general welfare of the various people of the country, he or she would benefit from working closely and in harmony with the legislative arm of government.

“I therefore commit myself to working with the legislature as development partners motivated by the desire to deliver good governance”.

He commended President Goodluck Jonathan for the role he played in the sustenance of democratic institution by accepting election result, saying that Nigeria was in the threshold of history.

Bemoaning high cost of governance, he said, “First and foremost, appropriate policies need to be put in place and such policies may have to be translated into laws.

“Secondly, the oversight functions of the legislature is critical in ensuring that policies are implemented effectively and transparently. Therefore, my mission to bring integrity into governance would better succeed if complemented with a strong culture of transparent oversight.

“We need to collaborate on the budget process and restructuring of the public sector so as to collectively tackle the menace of high recurrent cost at the expense of capital and human development.”

“There is an urgent need to contain this high state of insecurity. All of you are representing various communities. We need to work together to address the problem from both its roots and manifestations.

“The strongest mitigating forces at this point are to redress the power sector deficits, encourage investments that are job creating and focus on human development and reconstruction. We also need to deploy efforts in conflict resolution and peace building in all our communities.

“I am here today, to invite you to work with the executive as partners in progress, as champions of good governance and development and as warriors for change. Together, we can make this nation great and as a role model in Africa and other emerging economies and democracies.”

President of the Senate and Chairman of the National Assembly, David Mark, who ushered in the President-elect into the International Conference Centre, in company of other leaders of the National Assembly, described the visit as historic.

Noting that it was the first time a President-elect was considering it worthwhile to address a joint session of the National Assembly, Mark agreed it was a historic meeting in the journey of democracy.

For the Speaker, House of Representative and Governor-elect, Sokoto State, Honourable Aminu W. Tambuwal, Buhari has extended a hand of fellowship to the legislature by his personal visit.

Tambuwal however expressed hope that his colleagues would reciprocate Buhari’s gesture by also extending a sincere hand of fellowship to the President-elect when his government fully takes over.

Mr Governor,

I don't want to believe you personally said all these... Infact, if truly you made this confession, I'm afraid we do not have a government in Osun state. You may recall that, a major point of your re-election campaign was to consolidate on the acclaimed progress you made during your first tenure. If at any point you said this, here are my words;
As a governor, you have failed in strategic planning. Undue empowerment of thugs that rigged you into office is not job creation. For instance, the so-called OYES created by your govt. How can a governor come into office and increase the indebtedness of the state all in the name of job creation without proper consideration of other factors? Did you consider your external and internal revenue when this scheme and others were created? If yes, did you project your revenue on both positive and negative view point? I understand, Osun is a civil service state so to speak, does it mean that, there is no IGR in Osun state? Why have you failed to account for IGR? Okay, where is your acclaimed infrastructural development if this is to go by? It is sad you have finally confessed that, substantial part of the federal allocation received ever since you became governor has been used up on recurrent expenditure and neglecting capital projects (infrastructure) at the expense of the poor masses. I understand, this will not affect you directly because, you'll come back to your resident in Lagos after your tenure. What about the poor masses who are suppose to use these infrastructure? Mr Governor, I still don't believe this statement came directly from you.

We need a change but not this kind of change.

How does their hate affect the standard of living in these countries?

Economy Minister – Why am taking a swift from supporting General Buhari . Just few hours ago, Obasanjo endorsed General Buhari as the man to deliver this nation. I was personally shocked, when I heard the news. This is because, I was expecting Baba to stay at the touch line, and leave Nigerians to study his body language.

But the masquerade could not control his dance in the public market. Hence he mistakenly flogged his own mother who is also a trader in the market. Nigerians, I am left with no option than to tell us that, these ex-generals and their boys are up to something.
The issue at hand is not all about the presidential seat. But rather, the national cake (oil blocks). Less I forget, is it not the same Obasanjo who woke up and hand picked his puppet 2011, who eventually grew like Joseph the messiah of Egypt?

It was jt like a dream when everyone thought hope was lost, God intervened and showed himself mighty. December 11th and 13th 2014 have come and gone.. Glory be to God.

I think somebody is doing what he knows how to do best(Lie) here. We were informed there was a curfew in Osun on the eve of the election. That was from 6pm on Friday which was the same day our Lie Lie brother and co travlers were arrested yet he claimed there was no curfew. I even thank God he admitted he was arrested in the dark, meaning it was in the night he was picked up. I'm not a PDP member but all I understand from my experience living in the Western part of Nigeria for decades, if APC eventually find their way into Aso rock, they will perpetrate worst evil compared to PDP. There is no Messaiah from both of them though PDP are less evil compared to APC.
