ednut1: if you dont understand why comment It’s obvious he doesn’t - but you could have educated him. Esseite: So in essence another tax?
One question, how much increase has this government brought into the standard of living of the average Nigerian between 2015 & now that they are taxing?. its obvious the N30,000 minimum wage increase is coming with VAT hike at 7.5% or 10%...
How fruitful is the NSITF, or would this join the league of looting loopholes and expense heads?
What have we gained other than violence, thuggery and a dormant leader? Insurance is not tax. If you are privileged to build a house, own a car, or any property whatsoever - like shops etc. You insure it from risks. For instance, if the house gets burnt or car damaged as a result of accident - the insurance company rebuilds or purchases a new car for you. So in essence - it has nothing to do with the Government taxing you, it’s just in your best interest to insure your properties. Funny enough you can insure your life, your children’s education, or even insure a contract you are about going into. There are different policies and Nigerians should particularly be encouraged to insure their lives and children’s education- anything can happen to any of the parents. Yur own responsibility is only to pay Premiums - and that’s why you may need a broker to help you with the best insurance policy. Hope that helps! |

So Range Rover na Tata product? There is so much to corporate governance than people understand. It doesn’t mean Tata is the sole owner - it only means they hold the majority shares in that company. It’s still a traditional British company - because the management and ideology of the company largely remain British. Companies invest in successful businesses in more developed societies because of access to larger and more profitable markets. Plus Tata Steel is a a very strong, if not the second largest, steel making company in the UK. Loads of factors bro. |

Johnnyessence: If APC claim section...refers them to this... ABUJA-A Federal High Court in Abuja, yesterday, ordered election petition tribunals sitting across the federation to ignore provisions of section 140(2) and 141 of Electoral Act 2010, saying it was vague, unconstitutional and a deliberate attempt by the legislative arm of government to usurp powers of the judiciary. Nullifying the two sections, the high court equally gave election tribunals nod to declare a candidate winner of any disputed election process brought before it, stressing that provisions of the aforementioned sections were inconsistent with both section 239 and 285 of the 1999 Constitution as amended. It would be recalled that the National Assembly, in amending the Electoral Act, divested from courts the power to declare any candidate the bonafide winner of a disputed poll, stipulating that appropriate action the court or tribunal could take in such situation was to nullify the election and order a fresh one. Dissatisfied with the decision, Labour Party, LP, went to court to challenge its constitutionality. The plaintiff joined Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, and Attorney General of the Federation, Mohammed Bello Adoke, SAN, as defendants in the suit. However, the two defendants, who were represented in court by Mrs. Patience Osagiede Ofeyi and Ms Olufunke Aboyade, respectively, joined the plaintiff in asking the court to void those portions of the Electoral Act, contending that it ousted the jurisdiction of tribunals with respect to reliefs that could be granted in an election petition. Delivering judgment on the matter, Presiding Justice Gabriel Kolawole, maintained that the National Assembly was bereft of legislative competence to dictate to the court decision it should take over a suit filed before it, just as he described section 140(2) and 141 of the Electoral Act, 2010, as an affront on the concept of separation of powers. He held that the sections smacked off legislative tyranny, in the sense that it removed the constitutionally guaranteed powers of the court to declare a candidate winner of an election, stressing that section 134 and 179 of the same constitution imbued the judiciary with powers to declare the person with majority votes winner of an election process. He noted that the National Assembly deliberately interfered with judicial affairs, saying the two sections were nothing but legislative judgment. According to the judge, “Sections 140 (2) and 141 of the Electoral Act 2010 delimits power of the court to adjudicate dispute between parties in Election Petition. It, therefore, derogates powers enshrined in Sections 4 ( and 6 (1) of the Constitution. “The decision a court can arrive at in any dispute is based on the peculiar facts and evidences presented before it, it is not what any parliament can technically determine. Once a tribunal is seized with a matter in line with provisions of section 239 and 385 of the constitution, it can no longer reside with the legislature to curtail or abridge the powers of that court. “I, therefore, find Sections 140 (2) and 141 needless and an unnecessary intrusion, it is my view that election tribunals can operate effectively without these two provisions. “Consequently, it is hereby declared inconsistent with the provisions of the 1999 constitution and, therefore, null and void. The various election tribunals shall not be bound by the provisions of Sections 140 (2) and 141, it is thus accordingly struck-down, same being unconstitutional.” The plaintiff had in an originating summon it filed through its counsel, Chief Chuwkuma Ekomaru, SAN, prayed the high court to invoke its jurisdiction and declare that the provisions of the said portions of the Electoral Act were inconsistent with the provisions of sections 6(6a), 134, 179, 285 of the 1999 Constitution as amended. Thanks for this. I agree with the ratio of the learned Justice |

Religion always destroy the sanctity of non religious ethics. Can you tell a Muslim that he must use black hijab? I don’t see how wearing hijabs takes away from the administration of justice. And BY THE WAY: Everyone asking why Lawyers still wear wigs and gowns; and why black suit? It’s simple - barristers in court are in the line of their trade. Same way a doctor will be on white gowns and even a molaliki will wear his work cloths (no matter how dirty and tattered). By the way you only put that on when you are going to courts from High Courts and above. most solicitors don’t even go to cut - and they are lawyers too. |

Personally! - it’s about compromising and deciding for yourself what’s most important.
Nigerian girl’s from quite poor background will most likely see you as their ticket out of poverty - but it doesn’t mean you can’t both have a good marraige too - if she is a Christian or Muslim, and her parents have good influence over her.
The ones birth in the UK here have lots of western issues. There is this cultural and ideological difference - and tbh a typical Nigerian man won’t be able to cope with that for the rest of his life - if he is not the patient and tolerant type.
For me - It’s about going for the lady that we share many things in common. Same church (not even religion), same sense of belonging, same life goals, and I can relate well with her family if she is messing up. Wherever she is from - I don’t care! As long as those 3 S boxes are Thicked.
Until then - I humbly remain Single! I don’t want any toxic marraige for myself and unborn kids. |

So are you saying if I meet access bank to give me money for my green stove project I will get funds? in essence - Yes. But you know they are loans - you would have to pay it back... so you would have to have a clear means of paying it back accordingly to the Loan Agreement. Your stove idea may work - if it’s fast and competitive (Price) in respect with the new gas cookers - but it may not be too cool to get a loan to do that on a large scale if you don’t have a backup plan on how to fund the loan should you not break even. berildan: Not an economist but can give my two cents. Essentially, green bonds are like a pool of funds available to investors (think energy companies, or SMEs) who are looking to execute major renewable/sustainable infrastructural projects. These could be anything from purchase of energy efficiency infrastructure to deployment of offshore wind-turbines.
How do investors get returns? Ideally investments in such green projects should provide financial returns to the borrowing investor who then pays back any borrowed funds. These come back to the bond investor with some form of gain which isn't taxed.
Where do the funds come from? These could be raised from investors through financial institutions who serve as a hub. Investors could be the public sector or private individuals looking to invest in sustainability projects as described above.
Why Would investors choose green bonds over taxable bonds? Because returns on these bonds are not taxed. This is an incentive from bond issuers and the Climate Bond Standard Board to encourage investment in Green infrastructure.
All of these is just my rough thinking. Can use correction from more knowledgeable folks here. Spot on and largely true! Femich18: Someone should please help to explain the impact this will have on the economy and the common man cos I don't seems to understand any of the Jargons up there man2frayo:

Problem is that the FGN should be the one issuing this bond - in order to meet up with Nigeria’s commitment under th Paris Agreement. I don’t imagine Nigeria will meet up with its INDC with the manner in which we keep encouraging crude oil products/refinery in this country. Hope his helps! |

Most contracts with international companies pick a neutral ground - usually the UK because of it’s developed Laws and speedy resolution of dispute. You can see cases of up to 30 years just reaching the SC in Nigeria. And international companies don’t even trust your Judges to adjudicate rightly (often without hidden bribes).
