This is proof that Fashola completed the project in 2015.

Show us your own proof that Ambode did more than what Fashola did in the above pictures,

Show us your proof.
The estate in question is actually huge. I recall my dad telling me before it was a proposed NYSC site or something, before it was converted.

I have no doubt Fashola did the major works on this site - and very thankful too.

Buh this project was completed as far back as Ambode’s regime.

THIS GUY CALLED SANWO - is making it look like he completed what already was largely finished! He should at least have acknowledged the past two Administrations.

I have taken the liberty to repost the original post (highlighted as relevant) that we were commenting upon to spare all of us the substantively irrelevant discourse and dissertation. Of course, the police can arrest/apprehend/question anyone reasonable suspected to have commited (or to be committing) a criminal act. What they cannot do (and NO RATIONAL reading of the Police Act or the Criminal Code even remotely suggests it) is to randomly stop random persons on the street and require them to prove their sexual orientation (and let's not even get into the basic concept that the burden actually rests with state to prove a criminal offense beyond a reasonable doubt, and not vice versa).

With all due respect, there's a distinction between the possession of knowledge and the proper APPLICATION of same. The dissertation was entirely IRRELEVANT to the limited discourse at hand. Cheers.
>
Brother stop all these grammar.

There is no proving anything BRD with arrest. You lots don’t know the slightest about how Law and order works, but will come here throwing tantrums when you are being educated.

When you crossdressing, Police just arrest people and that’s all. They don’t owe you any explaination. You just have to explain why they shouldn’t charge you to court for crossdressing. And as far as Nigeria is concerned, you can’t even prove sexual orientation Cos that is not recognised under Nigerian laws. You are either a male or a female - if you dress otherwise, YOU CAN GET ARRESTED AND CHARGED TO COURT.

Don’t come here to apply your ignorance.

9jaRealist:
Nope, they do NOT...

Nothing about Section 4 of the Police Act (General Duties) or Section 231 of the Criminal Code (Indecent Acts) could be conceivably read or interpreted to provide the Police with any authority of power to stop a citizen on the streets and require him to prove her/his sexuality.
>
That’s fine, let me educate you.

Now these are restatements of the sections I referred:

Section 231 Criminal code
Any person who-
a. wilfully and without lawful excuse does any indecent act in any public place; or

b. wilfully does any indecent act in any place with intent to insult or offend any person;

is guilty of a misdemeanour, and is liable to imprisonment for two years.

And

Section 4 Police Act. General duties of the police
The police shall be employed for the
a. prevention and detection of crime,
b. the apprehen- sion of offenders,
c. the preservation of law and order,
d. the protection of life and property and
e. the due enforcement of all laws and regulations with which they are directly charged, and
f. shall perform such military duties within or outside Nigeria as may be required of them by, or under the authority of this or any other Act.
[1979 No. 23.]

Now, I don’t know if you are a lawyer or a law student Buh there are what we call rules to interpreting statutes. One of such is what we call Omnibus grounds and General Powers.

We call them omnibus, because almost anything can fit into it. An example of an omnibus provision is Indecent as used in 231 above, and enforcement of Law and Order as used in S. r above.

For 231 - anyone can be accosted, detained, arrested if he commits any indecent act in public, such as gayish acts or untoward dressing (crossdressing). If you don’t know, 3 cross dressers have been arrested and convicted in the court in Nigeria for Crossdressing, not too long ago, I can remember one in 2008: search the story, it’s on BBC. So yes, indecent act covers homosexuality behaviours and crossdressing.

Section 4 is the general powers of the police. The only restriction is that THEY HAVE TO BE CHARHGED by an authority, on complaint by a citizen, or with reasonable excuse- which itself is a wild card. That’s why the Police can do many things in Nigeria and get away with it. The Police has powers to arrest and detain anyone on suspicion of any unlawful act... with or without warrant, depending on the type of offence.

I have said too much already... I leave you with 218.

Section 218.
Any male person who, whether in public or private, commits any act of gross indecency with another male person, or procures another male person to commit any act of gross indecency with him, or attempts to procure the commission of any such act by any male person with himself or with another male person, whether in public or private, is guilty of a felony, and is liable to imprisonment for three years.
The offender cannot be arrested without warrant.

No one owes anybody any explanation of their sexuality. Otherwise the police would have the authority to stop anyone on the road and demand you to prove that you are not homosexual. Yes we know that Nigeria has anti gay laws and I fully support it, but cross-dressing is not the same as being gay, legally speaking. The police has no right, no authority to arrest or publicly embarrass any citizen simply on the suspicion of being gay.
They actually do,

So a simple question for you -
In all honesty, would you pray and allow your child to be all what Brobrisky is? Do you wish that for your child?

My views:

This is Africa, precisely Nigeria. There are what we call Social Vices, and crossdressing, rudeness, public display of gayish acts, disregard for authorities etc. Are replete of what Nigeria’s native law and customs generally eschews. They may not be legally wrong, yet, but they are socially wrong. And because He makes money from it does not make it right. You cannot legitimise a social vice just because it enriches.

Secondly, yes it affects others. You can see that from his many followers like yourself, who, 29 years ago, would have called for his head on a plate. More importantly, our kids on instagram.

And lastly, please don’t use God’s name and brobrisky in the same sentence; except you are praying for him.

Is it just me? There are also Houses (place of residence) where people, including children, live, and sleep, every day!

Is that not more dangerous? It is less likely that people will be in church when any Hazard occurs than for people not to be at home in any or al of those houses to the right and left of the Church.

Bottom line, this shouldnt be about the church! Ifs about all the building currently situate under a high tension!

it might be hard even with evidence , once acquited Bern indicted for that same crime a second time is extremely hard and rare in the US the second trial demands evidences beyond any sort of reasonable doubt in the court of law before they can agree to a second trail and if deemed might go with a jury to decide the verdict .

in other words it is very difficult to get a retrial
From the story - he was not tried at all!

He was only placed on remand pending the advice of the DPP. So nothing like retrial here... if the police were to get enough evidence - he will be formally charged to court. He was released because the police could not make up a case to warrant prosecution.

In any case, I doubt there can be any evidence l. In the West, an autopsy will be conducted to find if there are semens in her body and whose semens. But I doubt wehave the kind of technology to detect such... and even if we do, there is no database for the citizens so nothing to crosschefk the semens with. No CCTV, and I am not sure they saw the murder weapon; even if they do, no database to crosscheck the finger prints with.

Nigeria is messed up. There’s no justice anywhere

Remember him? The underwear bomber who almost blew a US plane in 2009.

Yeah, he is serving 4 lifetime sentences and he is already on his 10th year.

Alas, that's not the case for Nigeria. Remember Evans, the billionaire kidnapper, his case is over 2 years old and the court are yet to decide whether to make a decision or not.

That's the difference between the Western world and the third world country.. Quick dispensation of Justice. It would deter almost anyone who stand to gain anything in corruption but here that is only applicable to the poor...
I absolutely agree with you - but the problem is usually not with the Court.

The courts do not prosecute cases. Police or the Ministry of Justice do.... and when the Ministry of Justice prosecute cases - it’s usually based on the evidence and investigations of the Police. In essence, the Police’s shuddy investigation causes most of the delay in bringing accused persons to book.

For instance - in the present case - the suspect was released based on a No case to answer. The meaning of No case to answer is that a prima facie case has not been made to warrant prosecuting him for the alleged offence. Put simply - No sufficient evidence at all.

So if you want to see criminals brought to book - train the IPOs to do their job effectively. Sadly, there is no technology in the Police force to aid their investigations.

ValCon888:
This is how to sentence a fraudster.

The Nigerian Criminal Justice System needs to take a page from the American System.

30 years in jail serves as an adequate deterrent for potential fraudsters. But in Nigeria, yahoo boys will commit fraud and be given a mere 6 months imprisonment. Just in time to come out and continue from where they stopped.

The EFCC Act, Criminal Code, Penal Code, and all other necessary legislation needs to be overhauled to combat this cankerworm that has eaten deep into the moral fabric of this country.
The Advance Fee Fraud and other Fraud Related Offences Act takes care of these - and the punishment, I can tell you is not less than 5 years and Max of 20 years/15 depending on the type of offence. But prosecutors may not charge under this law - they would rather go with 419 in the Criminal Code which is only 3 years - just for kickbacks from these guys.

Truth is, the law isnt so much the problem. It’s the persons who are meant to enforce it. Every day EFCC and SARS arrest all these people - but you rarely hear of a conviction. Nigerians are the problem of Nigeria.

I wonder if they're also going to conduct the burial rites for the innocent dead folks.

BTW.. with all these Dangote trucks getting into various accidents every now and then... what's the gov't doing abt it? Are they making him liable and punishing him as needed OR huh? angry
That’s where the problem is - payment of medical bills is not enough. In saner climes - the Ministry of Justice of the state is meant to bring an action against Dangote for causing loss of lives and properties. But they can’t, because this is Nigeria.

The victims as well don’t know they can bring a class action against Dangote - for which they can get as much as $5b in damages and compensation.

But they won’t, Cos they either do not know or someone is telling them they can’t win.

In any case it’s all messed up. Johnson & Johnson, a pharmaceutical company was just fined half a billion dollars for ADVERTS of their drugs alone! Can you imagine - just adverts. Here in Nigeria, Dangote drugs have been causing needless deaths for ages, but no one is doing anything about it. Smh.

That it is a social media platform for the dissemination of news, did not take away the block button. The block button is available to every user (Public or Private) on twitter. He could as well sue Twitter for making the button available in the first place.

Too much freedom, begets a corresponding degree of insanity...That is what is happening in the west.
FIRST, This has little to do with freedom. Citizens should be able to bring their leaders to account for their actions or inactions. I think the Nigerian system of governance has shrouded your perspective about true governance and accountability.

SECOND, if you read the story very well - there seem to be a reasonable cause of action. You are a private person - so you have absolute control over who you block or not. Museveni and the other officials are Public figures... and they have a responsibility towards their citizens; so they cannot block people the same way you can - especially if it’s a public account. He might not win, Buh Yh it’s worth the try

In any case, That may not be possible in Nigeria, because executives have immunity from civil and criminal actions emanating from what they do or do not do, while in office; S. 308 CFRN.

Is it not this same country that fellow Nigerians including police see young successful people as fraudsters undecided
The problems are starker than you have painted it. There are obviously legit hustling teenagers, but you need to go on fb to know how bad things have become. Almost all the kids I know growing up in my locality have turned out worse off - openly displaying cultism and yahoo lifestyle. You can almost tell that things have really gone from bad to worse - even for those in the Higher institutions: most folks now resort to internet fraud, wire, online dating scams, cultism etc.

Bariga Surulere Shomolu Fadeyi Mushin Abesan Estate etc. Just name the place in Lagos. Same in the East - mostly drug lords and all manner of Vices.

The earlier we acknowledge there is a problem the earlier we can begin to find solutions to it.

Sadly the only feasible solution is good leadership: and people trade good leaders for tribal preferences.
