I'm sorry if there is any insulting remark in any of my posts (I honestly don't know). I've looked at it from many points of view, and while there may be dire consequences, it's simply not in our place to cry more than the chief mourner.

My point exactly! There is no moral/legal justification for us as fellow migrants to complain when the Germans are not complaining (in the majority). Bro your humanitarian perspective is well received.

However as regards Nigerians blending in, I tell you that the worst the bad eggs amongst us do is steal, dupe or commit murder. These are individual crimes that people worldwide commit. Our people will not go and blow a bomb in another mans land or protest against another country's culture. Arabs are very volatile. The two Nigerians that killed an officer in UK were motivated by an Arab sheikh who was granted residency and there are so many other similar cases.

I tell you I prefer to live amidst scammers or rogues like my Nigerian brothers than to live amidst people that can wipe out a whole race for simply not following their beliefs.

I feel a lot of sympathy for the Syrians and I am quite disappointed that Saudi and other wealthy gulf states will not take them in. However I still have the fear of the Arab man in my mind based on their precedents.

Many Nigerians don't blend-in in foreign countries. Blending-in goes beyond the vices. Simply not being able to eat their food is not blending-in; I'm sure you know that. Now you make the Nigerian vices seem petty and far between. How many arabs who have been offered asylum/residence go ahead blowing up their hosts? While they exist, they are the exception and not the rule.

I watched many of the Syrian "able-bodied" men being interviewed on BBC. Most of them said they had to leave their families in Syria to go to Europe and hustle, then try and get them to Europe. Will you expect an old woman in her 60s or a child below 10 to be able to do that?

As for the bolded, Germany has decided to accept them. I hope it's not too late to reject your admission and continue living here "amidst scammers and rogues". And oh, about 10,000 arabs entered Munich today.

They were chanting Germany! Germany! Germany! in the rail station in Hungary. Some of them even refused first aid that was administered to them because of a cross that was on the first aid box. I begin to wonder if they hate the Christian cross that much what are they doing in Christian Europe? Some were offered asylum in Austria, Czeh Republic and Iceland some stayed majority left for Germany.

There must be a reason for them to want to go to the heart of Europe which is Germany.

I wonder what all the fuss is about. The Germans are not complaining (in the majority) and we here are crying fowl? Where is our humanitarian point of view? From a certain point of view, do we realize that they are more entitled to be in Germany than us? Do we realize that we could all be in their situation under different circumstances? We are going to Germany because we have a life, but we seek a better life. They are going to Germany because they don't have a life at all. As for not blending in, go and find out how much Nigerians are "blending" in many countries. We are more or less all in the same shoes; MIGRANTS. the only difference is that while most of us go for studies, they go for asylum. And God forbid should anything happen, we all have our naija to run back to, so why should we complain? The Germans who'll have no where to go are not complaining so we all should suck it up!!!

hello house, my brother want to apply for language course visa, but he has some questions:
1) what are best supporting documents to prove strong ties in Nigeria?.
2) he has a business man's statement of account to present as a sponsor but he will not live with the said man, is it acceptable?.
3) The language course visa is it that easy to obtain?.
Note, he has paid the language school for a period of 6 months and expecting the invitation letter from them. Please do help with these questions. Thanks for your co-operation.

Sorry to sound pessimistic, but he would likely not be issued the visa. Reason being that there's a standard language school in Nigeria (Goethe Institute) and it's a lot more economical to school there.
However, should you choose to go ahead, I don't know about documents to prove ties. They don't need any statement of account, except your sponsor is in Germany. Else open a blocked account and fund it. The language course visa is not easy to obtain. (See first paragraph).

Never say never. But honestly, chances are very slim. I hope your case will be the exception but the shortest I know of is 16 days.

Now to the matter:
English nativity is not a contextual issue. You're a native speaker if your ancestors are "English". Nothing contextual about it. As for "official" language, that's a different situation. A country can make a language official by stating it in its constitution, but a country cannot just make itself a native speaker of a language, and a country cannot be seen as native by some and not as native by other countries. GET THAT CLEAR. Do you know that despite the fact that USA is a native English speaking country, they are not an "official" English speaking country? (USA has no official language) And like Nigeria, Singapore's official language is English. Does that make them native English speakers? Come on, you're definitely better than this. And while some schools waive English tests for all "officially" English speaking countries as well as natives (e.g Uni-Hamburg), some do so for only natives (e.g OGVU). There are still a few who waive for all natives as well as some select few official (Which, as in the case of Uni-Bonn, Nigeria happens to fall under). So please, come with facts, not based on "Someone in the system in Bremen", I consider that as an insult to the intelligence of everyone on this thread who have taken out time to do their research. Even according to Wikipedia (admitted, they are not reliable for academic purposes) only about 53% of Nigeria's population speaks English, and none as first language while Germany has about 60% of it's population speaking English. Will you now say Germany is also a native English-speaking country?

That Nigeria is an English speaking country is not a guarantee that all universities in Germany will accept letter of proficiency from the school where he graduated from. Some schools like Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München does not accept any other English proficiency letter/certificates apart from IELTS and TOEFEL. Nigeria is not considered among native speakers of English language. The native speakers are Britain, Canada, USA, New Zealand and Australia.

Nigeria is a native English country oh! I have confirmed it. We're all descendants of Henry VIII!!!

This person is a part of the academic system and he has said that English proficiency letter from a student of an English speaking country that is course was done in english is as good as any English test anywhere in German for any university. It might not be stated that way in some of the universities' website

I applied for MSc, and I did not write any test. Though I got some admissions, I know how many I missed because of lack of TOEFL/IELTS even when I had a proficiency letter from my school. AND RWTHAACHEN IS ONE OF THEM. So please don't say what you don't know.

The university I got admitted made it emphatically clear that I most provide one of the English test. I did not, I only provided a letter of english proficiency from my university signed and stamp. And I got admitted

Now, unless you're referring to a particular school, this is the most misleading piece I have ever seen!!! I for one am 100% sure some schools (e.g RWTHA) will not consider your application without it, even if your cgpa is 5.0

Ok. Since you've collected before, it shouldn't be much of a problem as they shouldn't be sending anything to your department. Still, make sure you pressure them. Mine took almost 3 months from start to finish... I didn't even bother certifying there. I simply made my photocopies and proceeded to Federal High Court, station road. Then the state courts were in strike.

I think you can make it. Just fund your account as soon as you get the details from DB. Yes, banks will tell you that, but insist on speaking to a senior staff. From what I've been seeing/hearing, I'd recommend Union Bank. Once your account is funded and you have a good interview, let your school know what's up and possibly contact them a week after your interview to contact the foreigners office on your behalf...

Are y'all sure about this? I had my interview over a week ago, and the only original I gave her that wasn't laminated was my admission letter and proof of funding (everything else from my academic certs to my birth cert was laminated) and I didn't get that message.

Think outside the box. Perhaps the problem lies in the "copy"? Maybe you forgot to add it while arranging the documents (I doubt that) or you didn't arrange them properly (more likely). Either way, if you're still in Lagos, I'd suggest you go back to the consulate with 2 photocopies of your degree tomorrow (there's no reason for you not to have photocopies at home) and give them, while explaining that you had already given them the original yesterday (today).
