You stated something earlier and are now mention something entirely different. You say you nor be academia but you dey your third semester. You're here for economic reasons so ranking is bullshit for you and will always be. I don't see how I don't want you to achieve your goal.
I am just trying to say an individual who understands and appreciates the value of education would never utter such statement.

Please get off my mention. My views and opinions are mine, if you don't like it or not satisfied about it. That is your business.

yea ranking do matter..,but let's have it in mind that some universities has their field of specialization which they are renowned for. even if such university isn't rank high overall........and also the small sample size which most of the ranking organization uses has highly been criticised......

In October 2012, the university of hamburg chair decided not to participate in national or international rankings in the foreseable future, stating the
administrative expenditures needed as a main reason. The small
sample size used by many rankings and their methodology have also
been criticised.

Help me tell them ohh, Na ranking I go chop grin grin

Yeah, as you said the rankings are indices of certain criteria. Since there's no 'perfect' way to process the criteria into rankings, that's why I said that the higher-ranked schools are generally better, and not - as you rightly pointed out - all better, or that they're definitely better for that matter. I was just disagreeing with the dismissal of the ranking as something unimportant.

So higher ranked schools are better but you still chose to study in a country where the most highly ranked school is not among top 30 in the world. What an irony shocked shocked

Like I said earlier and will continue to say it, ranking is not and should not be a major deciding factor for choosing a Uni in Germany, in America or UK it may be but not here in Germany.

if there are a lot of PMs, information will be lost here for most people in the same race presently and those coming behind.. May be they should just stick to the admission details and interview dates. They may not need to write the day of collection since that is where the crux of the matter lies and just write only the date of approval... I. E. Don't reveal the day you will be going to pick up your visa but the day of approval would not pose any security risk, would it? Since no one will know the day of your pick up.
But the drawback of this is that, when one uses another's chronology to evaluate against ones, one is likely to put oneself under unnecessary tension especially when events are unfolding a bit more slowly.

By the way, QS, one of the three main recognized international universities ranking bodies sent me a publication of their latest rankings 2015/2016 yesterday ..(I registered for for their publications free).. It should be on their site too

From the latest rankings, in Germany.
1. TUM cool
2. University of Heidelberg
3. LMU
4. KIT
5. FU Berlin
6. HU Berlin
7. University of Freiburg
8. RWTH Aachen
9. University of Gottingen
10. University of Tübingen
The top 4 are within the top 100 in the world.
On their site you can filter your search to check how the various faculties fair against each school apart from the general rankings.

Don't get carried away by rankings, Germans are really not interested in such. A graduate of TUM is treated the same way a graduate of FAU in job Interviews. And mind you, the prestigious feeling of attending the highest ranked school is just for you and you alone. Germans don't brag about that, instead they discuss about the beautiful environment in which they studied. How they were able to spend less, go on road trips because their study city was cheap.

There are lots of factors one need to consider when choosing a school, if you have the luxury of such. And I tell you ranking is the least among them.

I still dont get y'all point.
firstly itz a faceless forum and u are responsible for your security in here..if you choose to expose yourself or not, itz all in your hands.

[s]I read abt the incident some months back and if I'm not mistaken, she took a taxi from the embassy to her destination and the taxi man robbed her and took her handbag which contained her visa. Do we now assume the cab man got her info on nairaland?[/s] Is lagos state completely free of such kinda crime? Seriously I dont see how both incident relates to each other.

I started out in the canada thread and dat particular list helped out locating whoz heading to same school, estimated time of visa approval and schools wit reasonable number of nigerians.

We are solely responsible for our security on nairaland. If you reveal too much about yourself, then you face the consequences but I can beat my chest and say that list poses NO security risk.

That is my personal opinion tho

You read the wrong incident, the said person deleted all posted comments here before deleting his/her Id grin grin

I think I lean towards lmuhopeful here. You have to think a lot of things through before you embark on this journey. Even if your plan works, imagine what that 500k would have done for you with regards to settling down. Besides, I met someone at the consulate once whom, after paying for the course and blocked account, still got rejected on the grounds that he can learn it at goethe (obiwann can testify to this). I'm not saying you will get rejected I'm just trained to think along the lines of probability and hence I don't necessarily believe in miracles, which brings me to the language itself. Can you learn a new language from scratch to B2 in 8 months? Simply put, if you were to write the IELTS equivalent of German in 8 months, will you score up to 6.0??
Access yourself and think this true.

But anything is possible..... Peace

*Modified*

I must say I'm impressed that you got A2 in Nigeria in just 4 months. I believe you know the amount of work you put in. Do you believe you can get to B2 in another 4 months?

B2 in another 4 months......that is a no no. Getting to a2 in Nigeria in 4 months is do able, because a2 level entails not too much details about the language. The threshold point is B1 getting certified here is really not easy and B2 is a lot more complicated.

I agree with you suggesting learning Germany in Nigeria but you know its gonna take more time cos of the unavailability of people to speak it with after class. However, its still viable but its still back to square one:

Upon been certified in B2 by Goethe, I still need the 8k euro or a sponsor which is what am looking for now. Moreson, the language course is for 8months and not 6months.

Even if the Language course will last for a year, it's not economically profitable to do so, using block account. Because you are not allowed to work when learning the language. So what will happen when your money get exhausted.

@justwise why did you hide my comment? did it violate any rule? I saw his email addy and edited it out before quoting.

You see, this is it

The university requires a B2 Zertifikate proficiency for me to start skul nd I've registered for the german class.. My next resumption is by Nov-June nd am scheduled to write an entrance exam at the University by d end of August...
On a serious note, if you require B2 before you can commence study, there is no way you can get to that level in 6months from scratch. Unless na Einstein brain you get.
So save your self time and money, learn German in Nigeria and get to B2 level it is doable.

Certainly, I have few friends in Europe.. A friend in University of Saarland, a friend in france and UK respectively... Buh they re all students so they can't pose as a sponsor... Is that the reason why you said NEVER?

Yes they can't sponsor you. Why ? Like you said they are students.
A sponsor must earn at least 1500€ per month. So you see why i said NEVER. It can then be possible if your friends all of a sudden graduates and earn as high as that monthly, then will i say UNNEVER........lol abeg house what is the opposite of NEVER sef. tongue tongue

Wow.. Thanks bro.. €45 in 5 days shocked shocked ... Omo mehn!! Not economical at all..

Bro what you are saying is that we should imbibe the habit of cooking.
it makes sense.. Even when we bring loads of foodstuffs from naija. It will finish one day.. It wouldn't be wise going back to the €3 per meal chops 3x a day..

Bros it's good to cook ohh, but it also has its disadvantage. If you are staying alone not in a shared apartment i will strongly advice to cook once a week and refrigerate all. Then you can always warm and eat when hungry.

And also learn how to eat hot food just once a day. it will help you on the long run and eat lots of fruits, it makes you look fit and healthy. Mind you fruits are cheap just flow with the season.
We also have vegetables, learn how to eat them too. lol

Talking from experience.

Anyone going for medicine (mbbs) #summer2016?

How good is your German ? Studying medicine in Germany is very competitive. You require not only a very high proficiency in the language but also high Grades from your Abitur( if you have one ). From what i heard, getting into med. school is the main thing but once you are in. The sky is your starting point.
Don't feel you can't make it, or achieve it. Take my words as STEROIDS and use them for your preparation. The journey is not long but not for the faint hearten.

I met a Nigerian Nurse who told me how she came in contact with a Nigerian Head Doc.( Hauptartz), that is how they are called.
For those who have visited any teaching hospital in Germany will understand what it is to be one.
You move around with other Doctors but they are all behind you like your bodyguards. Bros do come join the league joor.

Interested students can contact their university for stipendium. Application for Deutschlandstipendium will commence soon. The money may seem small but it will go a long way to alleviate your financial burden. I really don't have much info about it because applications differ from each Universität.

Here is the link. http://www.deutschlandstipendium.de/de/2319.php

You didn't comprehend my message well.

If you read through my post, you will find out that no one has publicly shown you any support the way I did. The opening remark was just a light hearted banter.
I know for sure and I commended you for "giving back" to this thread and stated that "I didn't blame you.."

I know what you do way before many people here commented on it and I see through the brother/friend talk but I played along well even when we had a short exchange of mail.

I know people who said you have charged them to "influence" admission on their behalf even without seeking your assistance for admission when they just wanted you to pay uniassist fees for them and some of these I referred personally to you but their complaints made me refer them to a cheaper option (but you have explained why the uni-assist charges are high)

However, that's not my concern, neither do I see the wrong in that apart from the fact that you can't "influence" admissions beyond what is legal. In my latter comments I was only digressing to another matter using your situation as an example.

If you make money from what you know, should I begrudge you that? For clarity sake, you may not be "futurewiser" but I'm sure the "futurewise" on the old thread and "futurewiser11" are one and the same person.
