Buckeyemedia1:That one I agree. Why should I cross the River Niger Bridges when others are running away from the other side of the River Niger Bridges? You wey dey brave I dare you to cross over to Mariupol in Ukraine right now. |
od501:Statistics of what? Also provide your own statistics so we can compare. |
Kwestionair:How is ESN, IPOB and MNK their nightmare? Do ESN, IPOB and MNK go beyond the core igbo states? ESN, IPOB and MNK are not even in Delta or Rivers. The only way ESN, IPOB and MNK can be their nightmare is the excessive migrations into their cities and states, from people running from ESN, IPOB and MNK |
InoGetJoy:IPOB has no right or authority to ask for any referendum. IPOB is not a political party. It is not even registered in Nigeria, and it is banned in Nigeria. Besides, there is no referendum in our constitution, so you can't pluck referendum from the air. The nigerian constitution has an indivisibility clause, of which the military must fight to preserve. First we need to either formulate a new constitution or change the indivisibility clause and then insert divisibility via a referendum or other methods into the constitution. Anything other than that is war. Every crime committed in Igbo land is now attributed to IPOB, do you even know how foolish you lots sound? The Same way you attribute every crime commited in the north to Boko Haram or Bandits. The same way to attribute any kidnapping in the South to Fulani Hersmen. IPOB had been threatening violence for years, they had been threatening to kill people who don't agree with their philosophy of sit at home. So when violence actually starts, who should we hold responsible? Your people are running away to Benin Republic to live as refugees but you're more interested in what's happening in Igbo handWhich people are running to Benin Republic and why? It's you people that are trooping into Asaba, Lagos and other cities in the South running from IPOB induced violence in the east. |
ponishah:As much as I think Asari is just a business man, using the Niger Delta problems to fill his bank accounts, he is making a lot of sense here. Why will an igbo elder support the carnage going on in the east? A so called elded will sit in the safety of Abuja or Lagos and support IPOB leaders sitting in Finland or other European countries, to destroys lives, properties and the economy in igboland. It just does not make sense. They greatest strategy of Buhari against the igbo nation is the kidnap and capture of Kanu. He probably calculated that they will turn igboland to Somalia in protest for his release. |
Advocator1:You are just overstretching the meaning of foster to fit into Toke's narrative. Foster does not apply in this case at all. Foster parenting occurs where there is a foster care system, in which the government places a child in the care in the care of someone else outsides it's biological patents. Learn more about the Foster Care system here - https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foster_care Toke's case fits into the typical African Traditional system whereby a family member automatically takes up the care and upkeep of their nieces, nephews and cousins in the absence (and even sometimes presence) of their biological parents. It will be an insult to refer to Mrs Esther Akinyelure as a foster parent of her sister's daughter. Toke's younger brother that came with her at the same time had never referred to the Akinyelures as his foster parents. There is also another nephew that was raised by Mrs Esther Akinyelure and he is doing very well. He can never refer to Mrs Akinyelure as his foster mother. That would be an insult. I know Toke is chasing clout. The Akinyelures are a very private family. They hate any form of publicity. Chief Pius Akinyelure is very introverted, he hates his name appearing in the media not to talk of social media. It's was his biological children and grandchildren that organized the closed family Dubai birthday for their father, as he was not ready for any sort of celebrations. |
benalvino3:Selling a human is illegal under international law. Law are meant to control human behaviour to promote peace and harmony within a society. A law can render an illegal action today illegal tomorrow. People who do abortion illegally don't have freedom to do it which is why the word illegal is used. If they are caught there will be some kind of accountability.Laws that are made solely for religious sentiments are unenforceable and often ignored. They don't usually stand the test of time, ie, abortion laws, bootlegging laws, adultery laws, etc. Adultery is illegal in our statutes, but till today no one has been prosecuted for adultery. I have addressed this selling of baby and abandoning of babies. If she abandoned the child and it dies, is that not murder or at best manslaughter? Why are men forced to pay child support?I support holding men accountable for getting a woman pregnant and absconding without supporting the birthing and care for the child. If this singular act is codified and made law, it would cut the need for abortions by half. All these go against the bodily autonomy argument or show some kind of irony. What happens to the woman if she is caught abandoning a baby in the Bush or dust bin? |
benalvino3:But its her body. Freedom over what goes in and out of her body. Selling a baby is different from aborting a baby, so also is donating a baby to an orphanage. What of abandoning a baby? If a woman says she doesn't want to a baby to suck her breast, do you force her? |
BasedUsername:I am also a bit iffy on late term abortion but I know that you cannot force a woman to birth a baby much less breast feed and care for a baby she doesn't want. What convinced me to a hard pro-choice was when I actually say a new born floating on the lagos lagoon behind NPA bar beach about 25 years ago. It still traumatised me till today. Many babies will be surely murdered instead of simply aborted. If true, then this is the best possible outcome of the law. Abortion should be safe, legal, rare—and if I may add—early.I agree with all, but rare will be very difficult to determine. It should boil down to sex education and the dangers and consequences of indiscriminate sex. |
EmperorHadrain:So many IPOB groups and subgroups and they all make contradictory claims. Each one setting it's own sit at home days. It will not be long before the different IPOB groups turn on each other. |
Advocator1:Abeg explain how the word foster father applies in this sense. Is your Aunty's husband your foster father? |
AstraDroid:Why not post links UN and EU website that confirm global data about declining birth rate and growing death rate. If you take the time to post the links, I will find the time to read them or are the links secret? Yes EU population is declining as well as affluent countries, where women refuse to procreate or they give birth late. But in the rest of the world, especially poor and illiterate countries, the population is exploding. |
Allisgud:N3m sef too small. Officers of NNS pathfinder deal in dollars and not naira. Giving a senior officer of Pathfinder N700 (about $1,200) is a grave insult. He needs to be flogged 25 koboko lashes before being handed over to the police. |
AstraDroid:The world is not facing apparent depopulation. In reverse, the world is actually facing a population explosion. The earth with finite resources is finding it difficult to cope with the explosion in human population. So expect more wars and conflicts as people and countries fight to control increasingly diminishing resources. It took human population (Homo Sapiens) over 2 million years to reach 1 billion. Now we are increasing by 1 billion every decade. In about 100 years, we will be increasing by 1 billion every year. The average world population growth rate is 1% per annum. In the past human population was kept in check by constant wars, diseases, epidemics, natural disasters and famine. But after the 1800s with the advancement of science, agriculture and medicine, deaths from diseases became reduced. After WW2 major conflicts resulting in deaths of millions became a thing of the past. So human populations began to balloon. Watch this video to get an idea of human population explosion. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UJrQ8NQ9lLI |
Agbebakun22:Whether legal or illegal, a girls that doesn't want a baby would go to great lengths to abort. Many strict Catholic countries had attempted to make abortion illegal, it always fails. Ireland, Venezuela and many Latin American countries had one time or the other banned abortion. After seeing the futility, they unbanned it after many decades |
Originalsly:The abortion issue is purely religious. The Supreme Court tried to protect women's rights on their bodies. The Christian and Muslim religion tries to control and subjugate women. They have always attempted to dictate when, where and how a women should have sex. They want to use the pregnancy and baby as punishment for getting pregnant without a man to care for her and the baby. They don't care about the life of the baby once birthed. If these religious extremists insist on banning abortion. They should also make laws punishing men that impregnated the baby that was aborted, and also make laws mandating the men responsible to pay for the upkeep of the baby from pregnancy to teens. |
omooba969:And they tell you there is no SAPA in western countries. Then you have not traveled to US and UK. |
Righteousness2:That's what the Bible says. Not everyone follows the bible, and not everyone that claims to follow the bible follow the bible. A Mother who decides to abort her child is making a decision to End another's person Life and that is and always has been the Definition of Murder. She does not want to be a mother. If the baby can be transplanted into another woman or the fertilised egg can be incubated outside the woman, then the issue of abortion will not come up. Its her body and she can decide she doesn't want a baby in it. Abortion is Evil and the height of Wickedness. To me birthing and unwanted baby into this world at these economic times is wickedness. Using a baby as punishment for a woman's sexual sins is pure evil. |
tribalistdcriti:Whether they'll be fùcking with or without condom, that non of your fùcking business. When belle nab them and them wan commit am, volunteer your womb so they can transplant the baby, since you want it. If Nancy Pepsi mum had aborted her would she be alive to be shouting abortion yen yenStupid argument. Nancy Pelosi mum did not abort her, because she wanted a baby, and was not forced or blackmailed to have a baby. |
ralphelo:What do you mean Foster father? The man has 8 children from 2 wives. I know all chief Akinyelure's children. |
We4all:Which father? The person in the picture that celebrated his birthday on May 2nd with his family in Dubai is Chief Pius Akinyelure. Former Boss of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and currently a board member at Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation |
syntekelite:You friend willingly chose to abide by tradition of the east, probably due to love.He cannot be forced. I also have an example thats close to me. One of my wife's uncle is is famed for being irresponsible as he is a drug addict, has 8 children from 4 different women. His live in lover with whom he has an 18 year old daughter died just about 8 months ago. Mind you this man is pure igbo and the live in girlfriend is yoruba. When she became critically ill, he was not even around yo take her to the hospital. He is often away from home for days at a time. He never even visited her at the hospital. When she died and was informed, he switched off his phone and could not be reached for days. No one told the family of the woman before they settled the medical bills and took her to her family house for burial. He never attended the burial. When we jokingly said, the family would come for him, he told us he will be waiting. This man is pure "jaguda ". The family only came one day to pack the woman's belonging. This man would even gladly dash the daughter to the wife's family and has to be forced to pay her school fees. What I am getting at is that the girls family is exploiting the fact that the OP is gentle and has conscience. If he was an area boy or "jaduda", they won't dare ask for bride price not to talk of threatening. Yes, I agree sharia ( the criminal aspects) violates the constitution. But then it is only practiced in the North. Why do the easterners want to impose their own sharia outside the east? Pertaining to paternity a man who never legally married a woman has no total claim over the child in a court of law,cos the court of law respects only the law which will be a marriage certificate or registry certificate which the man has neither so why will said child bear his name? The man can only be awarded joint custody with the family of the wife cos he was her boyfriend and baby daddy not her husband and thats after the court orders a dna test..This is a fallacy. Please quote relevant sections of the Nigerian constitution or any law that supports this. The only thing a court needs to determine paternity is a birth certificate or a court ordered DNA test. Now does this your fabled law apply through out the whole world, throughout Nigeria or throughout the East? |
syntekelite:The constitution is above any culture or tradition. There is no law in the constitution, act or edict that grants the child to the grandparents. If the girls family insists on taking the child, then the matter should be settled legally. the main reason why it became an issue in the first place is cos she died in the mans house, there are baby mamas still living in their fathers house or their own apartment alone..if she had died in her fathers house or her own house such demands wont have come up..there is a distinct difference btw the two scenario's that you have to u.stand..That he died in the OPs house doesn't mean he killed her. If that is the case then it would be a homicide and not paternity or bride price issue. He even said he spent over a million naira in medical expenses trying to save her. Where were her family when she was suffering and succumbing to the disease that killed her? How much did they contribute? She died and all they could care about is bride price. also if you read the op's thread you will sense an arrogance or maybe ignorance of the way things are done in diff cultures.. imagine someone cohabiting with a child of another man just calls and says he wants to plan burial of their daughter...someone he has a child with, lives with for years but never did any formal introduction with her family, now wants to do burial....I also did not agree with the manner the OP took in informing the family of her death, even though I blame the family for abandoning their daughter when she needed them most. They should not have left everything to the boyfriend. Even if my daughter is married and she fell critically sick, I will not be able to sleep. I will make sure I do all I can to save her. As I said, the OP has no right to plan any burial since they were never married. He should have first told them of their daughter demise and asked how to proceed. If they need him to foot the burial expenses, he should gladly accept. What I quarrel with is the marriage and bride price thing. If you tell my family you want to go and pay the bride price of a dead girl, no one will follow you. If as he is insinuating that the family is threatening him with violence and kidnapping his son, he should make a formal report at the police station. He should then get a lawyer to write the family officially informing them of the death of their daughter with the medical records and autopsy included. He should also inform them on the whereabout of her corpse and still ask how they want to proceed. One of my man has 5kids with a woman he never married..they are practically married but not in the eyes of the law or God.. he just did the introduction recently, the reason... a friend from the same tribe with his wife told my man.. if your woman die for your house you no fit bury her and your children no go bear your name unless he travels to the east to do the traditional rites with her family..As I said, both your friend and the woman are from the east. If the man is Hausa or a foreigner that Eastern traditional you are talking about will not apply, unless he willingly agrees. |
syntekelite:What i want you to accept is that culture is different. Eastern culture is different from northern culture or western culture. Eastern culture just like Shariah in the North should only apply to easterners and the east. I Me, I am an extremely strict person person. I will never allow daughter to go live with a man she is not betrothed to. Thats why I work so hard to train and educate my daughter. I don't want the shameful situation of my daughter having to depend on another man for survival If in the unfortunate situation my daugher gets pregnant by mistake for a random guy, thats a different matter. If the one responsible for the pregnancy is not ready to marry her, I along with the guys parents will dicuss how the child will be raised. If they reject their parental rights, I will get legally adopt the child and train it as mine. One thing I can never do is force the guy to marry my daughter. Finally, you cannot take the child and change his or her surname to the woman's father's name without legal recourse, unless the father is not interested in claiming paternity. The matter would be taken to court. I don't see a court in the West or North granting paternity to the child's grandparents when the father is alive, willing and capable. |
syntekelite:Eastern culture you say.i am not from the east and I don't live in the east. So what concerns me with Eastern culture? Thats how one supposedly educated igbo person became my enemy because I countered the igbo archaic culture of not allowing a woman to inherit her father's property, even though supreme Court has ruled otherwise. I told him in my culture women are entitled to her father's properties. Parents that should be ashamed of allowing their daughter live with a man for years without bride price are now crying and threatening all over the place because they want to exploit their daughters death to collect money. If its my place, the girls family will be ashamed and quietly bury their daughter. You guys encourage your daughters to pack load into a guys house, get pregnant for him, and then start threatening him to pay bride price, dead or alive. I have never seen where to marry a living person is by force, not to talk of a dead person |
This law visually renders all African Traditional Religions illegal. Even Miracles and healings by Pastors such as T.B.Joshua and Oyakhilome is unlawful. |
HRprof:I will appreciate it if you can provide links to the traditional marriage of Precious where FFK paid her bride price. What's stopping Chioma's patents? Why have they not gone to claim Ifeanyi as theirs since davido refused to pay chiomas bride price? You want to leave your igboland and impose your igbo laws and custom in Osun or Lagos. The law of which land deal with the OP? Will the dieties of igboland or calabarland travel to Lagos or where the OP lives to deal with him? |
sanpipita:And you think the Ukrainian military were able to achieve all these on their own? Its the British and US intelligence that is providing intelligence, logistics support and arms to sustain the war with Russians. All Russian troop movements and formation is supplied the Ukrainian military. I am sure even Russian communications is being intercepted and passed unto the Ukrainians. |
Nnefada:Igbos are beginning to sound like ISIS. Others dont have to abide by igbo traditions and religion by threats and blackmail. In my culture its a taboo to marry a corpse. He fùcked the life out of her and she also fùck the life out him him. Fucking is notba crime and the Nigerian common law does not predicate paternity on bride price. The guy is being blackmailed because the he is probably from a poor family. You can't try this shit with Davido or Fani kayode. Precious had 4 children for FFK without him paying any bride price. You igbos should lead a riot to Davido's house or FFK's house now, to collect the children's as there were no bride price involved. The events took place outside igboland and the guy is not igbo, so I don't understand how you guys want to impose igbo culture on another tribe or state. If you try this in kano, they will behead you. |
syntekelite:Charge for murder? What evidence is there for murder? To prove murder, the family would have to provide evidence, motif and murder weapon or means of murder. The judge will throw out the case on second sitting. So the family has evidence to prove murder, they would forget the case once he paid bride price abi. Cheap blackmail. |
DkJay:If she is less than 18 then legally she cannot be held liable for stealing her mothers money and items. It can be labelled grooming. Then if it can be proven he has had sex with her, he can be charged for rape. |
