BraniacX:My brother Trump is a goner and every one associated with him will go with him. The main stream media, big tech and wall Street made him. They have all ganged up to destroy him and his associates. They have had enough of him because he thinks he is bigger than the US itself. I can bet my bottom Dollar that a year from now Trump will be dead broke. Here are some reaction from them; Stripe has stopped processing payments for the Trump campaign. American Express and JPMorgan Chase have said they would no longer donate to candidates who supported last week's insurrection or did not vote to confirm President-elect Joe Biden's victory in the Electoral College. Citigroup confirmed Sunday that it is pausing all federal political donations for the first three months of the year. Twitter suspended Trump from its platform, as did Facebook, last week. The social media company Parler was banned from Apple's App Store as well as Google's Play Store, and Amazon cut off Parler from its Amazon Web Services platform. Shopify, an e-commerce platform for merchants to sell goods, also shut down the Trump campaign's merchandise website as well. Forbes editor warns companies that might hire Trump press secretaries: Magazine will assume everything they say is a lie. |
Dapcity007:The election was not disputed by Republicans. It was only disputed by President Trump and his die hard supporters. The so called disputed elections was organised by Republican Secretaries of States, ratified by Republican state legislators and confirmed by most republican Congress members. A Republican VP preceded over the confirmation of the elections. A republican Attorney General declared the election free and fair. A largely republican Judiciary threw out over 60 court challenges. So which Republicans are disputing the elections again? Trump's radicalised cult members does not equate to the republican party. |
Dapcity007:Constitutionally binding how? When the Supreme Court said it does not have the right to sue. U.S. Supreme Court throws out Texas lawsuit contesting 2020 election results in four battleground states |
Dapcity007:If you are well versed in history, why not educate us. I don't see where you said a state sued another state in the Supreme Court for its choice of electors. From my little knowledge of US constitution, a Senate committee can only be set up if a state send 2 sets of electors. The committee would then determine which set of electors were sent according to the state's laws and the constitution. The courts can intervene at any time during the election process and they have the final say. |
Dapcity007:It is left for either Trump or Pennsylvania republican party to sue, not Texas republican party or Governor in far away Texas. |
Dapcity007:I know nothing about Rutherford Hayes in 1887, but I am certain it did not involve a state suing another state for which candidates it choose to give it's electoral college votes. |
Dapcity007:Believe me the jurisdictional arguments would have failed. It would just have been a waste of the courts time. Such a stupid case had never been brought up in US election history. |
Dapcity007:You see why people think very little of your intellect. You have no idea of how the United States of America works, but you spew ignorance because you have been radicalised by Trump. How can you believe a largely republican SCOTUS will not understand US constitution, but you or Trump does. The states are allocated electoral college votes, and the state legislature can determine which ever way they want to allocate those votes. Some states or districts even choose to split the votes. Texas cannot come and tell Georgia or any other state who to vote for or how to allocate it's votes, they just don't have the rights to sue. Because their own electoral college votes were never affected. Trump has the locus standi to sue, the republican party has the locus standi to sue. The republican party in Georgia has the locus standi to sue. But no other state in the union has the rights to sue. There was no way the Supreme Court could hear such case. Next will be Texas suing other states for spending their own money. |
Dapcity007:Texas cannot determine who another state choose as President, it has no locus standi to sue any other state for their choice of President. That would be assuming superior powers in the Federation. You think you are wiser than 9 Supreme Court justices? Texas has a history of throwing tantrums whenever it's preferred candidate lose the presidential elections. |
Dapcity007:Who is to determine election integrity? The election organisers, the states legislators, the Justice department, the courts or President Trump who himself is a participant in the contest? It's like a football team determining and insisting it won a tournament, when the organisers, the referee, the courts and external observers says the team lost. |
mrfreestuff:I even believe Trump's cult members are more radicalised than Shekau's. These one are prepared to threaten and even murder anyone that disagrees with whatever Trump says. |
festacman:I wish I can like this post 1000 times. Trump has shown that Africans and blacks in general are not inferior to whites or Asians. The problems are institutional checks and balances. Even though Trump appointed judges, their salaries and renumerations does not depend on him. So they do not need to dance to his tune. Even though Trump is commander in chief of the armed forces, the military is not obliged to obey unlawful order from Trump. Same with the justice department and FBI, they won't take illegal orders from Trump's to arrest or eliminate opponents. African institutions were build to protect and perpetuate those in power and and not to be responsible to the people. We need to knock down those colonial political and civil structures and erect new ones that is responsive to the people rather than the leaders. |
Dapcity007:Is he the one spinning Trump's words out of context? What of Trump's supporters who invaded the Senate building destroying properties and breaking glass and doors, did they also spin Trump's words out of context? What of those that injured numerous police men and actually killed one, did they also spin Trump's words out of context? What of Trump supporter that planted a pipe bomb in both offices of Republicans and democrats in the Senate, did he spin Trump's words out of context? Then there are those that threatened to kill the Vice President, the speaker and other members of Congress, did they also spin Trump's words out of context? I honestly don't understand the context of all these damage and violence. |
bluefilm:Why not test your freedom to express yourself freely here by calling for a March on Aso rock or Senate building to threaten the president or legislators and see how oga seun will react. Or even threaten another nairalander with violence. |
IamWonderful:Small price to pay for insurrection and possibly civil war instigated by Trump and his far right extremist followers. |
mach7:Don't mind them. Would there even be enough time to hold a sitting in Congress not to talk about bickering. A ballistic missile launched from Russia would detonate on US soil within 20 mins of launch. |
STUPID SUGGESTION ON SO MANY LEVELS. BlessedNuel:The only way such a change could work is if it is legislated upon by Congress and made into law. A mare announcement by a president would not mean anything. The next President would make a counter announcement. Even if Biden made the announcement after taking office, he could change his mind layer when he wants to actually launch a nuclear bomb. He was writing in Politico magazine with Tom Collina of the Ploughshares Fund, which advocates for stronger nuclear controls.WhatsApp he smoking? Retaliation in a nuclear strike. You mean President Biden should wait until Russia launches 10 Satan 2 nuclear missiles on US before retaliating? There might not be anyone or anything infrastructure left to retaliate. The piece argues that the current system gives the president — any president — “the godlike power to deliver global destruction in an instant,” an approach the authors call “undemocratic, outdated, unnecessary and extremely dangerous.”That's the same godlike power being held by US adversaries like Russia, North Korea and China. So unless other nuclear countries put restrains on their leaders launching nuclear weapons, it does not make sense to restrain only the US. Perry, who was defense minister from 1994 to 1997, calls Trump “unhinged” and adds, “Do we really think that Trump is responsible enough to trust him with the power to end the world?”Then the US needs to be more responsibe when choosing their president. There is no restrain that can deter an unhinged president from destroying the country. |
Cantonese:Is she not a legal adult? Can someone be arrested and prosecuted for having consensual sex with an 18 year old girl? Didn't Ned Nwoko marry an 18 year old (some say younger)girl? I hate when your guys try to personalise and moralize issues. |
SimplyFacts:Don't mind Nigerians, they automatically enter their hypocritical "holier than thou" mode once anything concerning sex is mentioned. Even though a full autopsy and investigations is needed to exonerate the doctor and the 3 boys, from the story it seems the girl died from drug over dose or some other medical condition related to heart attack. There is nothing extraordinary in the story. Oloshos litter our streets even in sharia states. Guest houses and hotels for short time and overnight services are on every street beside every redeem church. It is expected that a few mishaps occured here and there. |
LoyalHustler1:I thought that your brains needed enlargement like your penis, but it seems your condition is even worse. You probably need a brain transplant. The Pope is the most influential Head of State in the world, and Donald Trump will just send troops into the Vatican to arrest the Pope and the 1.2 billion catholics in the world would cheers on? Catholics are far more fanatical of their Pope than Trump's MAGAs. |
You are a comedian. Did you listen to the joke you posted? It says Biden's compound in Ukraine raided by US Delta force that flew into Ukraine from US based in Okinawa, Japan on January 1st. LoyalHustler1:Your brains is as small as your penis, you better start looking for a brain enlarger instead. |
chewwie:I don't even want to go into the merits of your arguments, some correct and some conjecture. What i am saying is that US is practicing democracy (a warped form of democracy where the states choose the President and not necessarily the people). The system had worked unbroken for over 200 years. One man cannot come ane distrupt the whole system because he wants to hold onto power by hook or crook. Whatever good or evil the politicians you so hate has done, as long as they have the support of their the electorate and get elected, there is nothing you can do. Trump had never had the support of majority of Americans. He lost to Hillary with about 3 million votes. He had never gone beyond 46% approval rating throughout his 4 years and his loss to Biden was within the predicted range. Trump cannot destroy America because he was not returned as President. Trump is in no place to determine who the states elect as President. Texas tried to question Pennsylvania choice to elect Biden. It was shot down by the courts. The Senate invasion was simply a coup, because even the Senate has no legal backing to reject Electors submitted by the states. If a state sent 2 set of Electors then the Senate can come in and choose which set of Electors to certify, but where no state sent 2 set of electors, what then gives the Senate the powers to reject the electors? This was what Mike Pence was trying to explain to Trump and his cult followers, this was what Mitch McConnell was lecturing his republican Senate colleagues about. |
FearGod199:Please don't ever compare President Jonathan with President Trump. It's like comparing light and darkness. President Jonathan has far more intelligence, finesse, intelligence, international respect and patriotism than 5 generations of Trump. When Orubebe tried in nonsense, he did not get any support from President Jonathan, and Jonathan had far more justification than Trump. Trump lost was as clear as day. You calling God makes a mockery of any religion you purport to follow. |
chewwie:You fail to acknowledge that for 3 decades they screwed working class Americans over with legislations because they were elected by their supporters. If Trump supporters kill them, you think his supporters will roll over and just weep. You think Trump and his supporters will be safe if he sends his supporters to kill people that disagree with him? Believe me when the violence starts no one will be safe not even President Trump himself. |
chewwie:I am sure you will be among those that was critical of Buhari after he rejected the results of the 2011 elections in which Jonathan Goodluck won, and his supporters went on rampage killing 11 Corp members. May you were disappointed that buhari supporters failed to harm Senator Ekwerenmadu, Dimeji Bankole and some close aids of Jonathan. |
judedwriter:If Trump does not fit the anti christ, I don't know who else would fit. Trump does not go to church, but Biden is a practicing Catholic Trump says he has no sin to be forgiven, which is a cardinal requirement of being a Christian. Trump is a liar, seductive and manipulative which are the character traits of the antichrist as espoused in the bible. |
hush15:Since freedom should be absolute, Twitter, Facebook and Co should allow ISIS use their platform to radicalise and recruit members. Boko Haram should be allowed not just by social media but also main stream media to recruit and plan attacks. How come you are only critical of twitter and facebook, what of nairaland than ban people for 100 years for minor infractions? |

PrideofLincoln1:Sorry to say, but you are not looking at the big picture. No one is of the illusion that Trump can be removed by a republican led and dominated Senate even if there was time. The impeachment would be for American posterity. An impeachment trial will reveal what really happened, how was one of the most secure building in the US and housing the no.2 and no.3 citizens so easily breached like it's was an open market? How deep the the coup conspirators go? The plannings, the bussing in people from other states, etc. That happened to all the layers of security? Why was there no quick response from the local police and the national guard? Are you aware that the situation would have been worse if the invasion and coup was better coordinated? If the ballots boxes containing the votes were destroyed or a substantial number of Senators were killed, the US would have been thrown into a catastrophic political turmoil. As I said earlier, this needs to go into the history books as the day US democracy and probably republic almost ended and there needs to be proper investigation and trial including impeachment. |

NeoWanZaeed:He cannot start any war. He has lost legimacy. The US armed forced pledged allegiance to the constitution and not the President. There is something called "lawful order". If Trump issues an unlawful order, no member of the armed forces will obey. That's what had curtailed his worse impulses all these days. When he deployed secret service officers (note not the military) to quell the BLM protests, he was roundly condemn even by Senior military officers. If Trump could he would have arrested all his opponents and throw them all in jail. |
PrideofLincoln1:I disagree with you. Inciting violence and planing a coup is a criminal offence. In most countries it's a capital offense. Even if the Senate would remove him (there is no time for that anyway), it needs to be on record that President Trump was impeached twice, and the reason he was impeached. 100 years from now history students need to learn that a certain President Trump planned to overthrow an incoming government in order to perpetuate himself in office. This impeachment does not stop other indictments. |
