mrvitalis:It's good some of you are beginning to admit that it was Igbos that started this unitary rubbish.... my own question is that why are you guys so obsessed and concerned about what Yoruba wants. Yorubas are but just one tribe out of dozens in Nigeria, how many of those other tribes wants the country to split. Besides right from the days of Awolowo, Yorubas have made it clear that they are fine with either of the options. If Nigeria should split they are OK with and if the others want unity, they are fine with it also. But, they would not remain if any part is allowed to go. So let yorubas fight their own course and you guys concentrate on yours. You can expect Yorubas (or even Binis ) to fight your own cause. This country is not working for anyone ...no one ...why don't we split and save ourselves the stress ..we owe it to our childrenThat's from your own personal view. Many Igbos especially the political, traditional, business and religious elites, would not agree with you. Nigeria is working fine in their own opinion. |
Tookool:Is that so? So the mother should be more concerned about someone else's business and investors than about her own child? That why I always cite Nigerian christians as the most hypocritical set of people in the world. You are the same person that will be ready to lynch two adult guys caught having sex or at least sending them to prison, but at the same time excusing and supporting the alleged rapists of a child in case of child rape. How do you guys reconcile your ever shifting sentimental views? |
Omopasito:That the problem of ignorance of the function of the police by Nigerians. The police does not necessarily need a report or complaint before investigating a alleged crime. Once it became public knowledge, the police should have started it's own investigations. If a murdered person is found on the streets, the police dies not need to wait for a complaint before starting investigations. |
Aussienaija:Yes you are right, a lot of things could have led to the allegations of rape. But the only way to find out what really happened is a police investigation. And as a medical doctor Anal penetration would be fairy easy to prove. Yes, she should have reported immediately to the police, but then you might not blame her for going to social media. First she is a woman. Believe me women are not the best at making rational decisions especially concerning emotional issues. I wonder where her husband is in all these. Then I quarrel with the commissioner inviting the accused and accusers in the same room without legal representation by both parties. This is a criminal matter and not a civil one, so the matter might end up in court. That meeting might jeopardise one of the parties and make even her herself a party to the case. |
Omopasito:Nobody is rushing to conclusion, the the alleged crime should churn the stomach of any normal unsentimenral citizen. This involves a minor for god sake. A sane society should protect their children (and women). Once the story gets out, the police didn't need to wait for orders from above or even official complaint to begin investigations. It's only her own story that's on social media, we have not heard the story from the other accused boys, so we have no basis of comparison yet. If she did not accept the invitation as you alleged, how come she was present at the commissioners office? It obvious the woman is either a semi illiterate or very poor, because if not she should never have gone to the commissioner's office without a lawyer. |
Aussienaija:And how did you conclude that the woman want her version to be accepted as the truth without any serious investigation? Did the police start a proper investigation and she refused to cooperate? Now as a doctor, what do you diagnose is driving her actions? Schizophrenia, blackmail or publicity? Why do you thing a mother will expose herself and her son to such negative, even stigmatising publicity? |
ipobarethieves:You don't know that Nigerians run their lives and opinions on sentiments. |
Omopasito:Which investigators? I am not aware the issue has been officially investigated. Calling the accused and accusers into a room to confront each other is not an investigation. |
ubola:Believe me if your child (assuming you have a child) comes home a tells you that he was brutally raped, you will bring more than sentiments to the whole thing. Ordinary my son told my wife that a school cleaner beat and harassed him 3 times in one day last month, my wife went to "sè wèrè" (exhibit madness) at the school. It took lots of begging and a suspension of the said cleaner before my wife calmed down. |
Aussienaija:I am surprised you are a doctor and already taking sides without seeing the medical report. |
Aussienaija:You are behaving as if this is a sane country and not a zoo (apology to IPOB ). Have you ever reported a case to the police before? Especially in a case involving a more powerful and rich opponent. If you don't know someone powerful, the police in collaboration with the person you are accusing will turn the case against you. It should have been the government that should have ordered a police investigation in order to exonerate the school and show that they are truly supervising the schools in the state. Even as the issue is all over social media, would it not be a vindication of the school and the ministry of education if the allegations were found to be false? |
Aussienaija:With the way you are defending the accused boys, it seems you have a stake in the whole issue. Maybe one of the accused is your relation. Anal rape (especially on a minor) is very easy to prove. The ass hole would show signs of penetrative for months if not years. Why is it so difficult for the commissioner of education to order a medical examination? I know, even if a medical report confirms penetration you guys will still bring up one silly excuse like the boy is a homo and agreed to consensual sex. |
Aussienaija:No one is saying that it's only her child that is telling the truth, but if the school and ministry of education is intetested in the truth, they should have let the police and expert in such cases handle the allegations. It makes no sense whatsoever for the commissionerboffins education to put the accused and accuser in the same room and start intimidating the accuser. Abi she don turn detective? That was how a juniour student that was sleeping on my top bunk in those days went to report me to her parent during visiting day that i was drinking her tea and other provisions. Luckily, i still had unopened provisions wey i never finish self. Of course anytime the boy urinate at night, it would dripple down my mouth and i would make him wash my bedsheet which is only fair anyway. That boy may be lying or at least exaggerating too. Why would the commissioner just start supporting others? why would everyone just hate her child?Comparing apples to oranges. How can you compare some one accusing you of stealing his tea to a gang rape allegation? In the rape allegation there must be medical evidence. If the school is really intetested in the truth, why not ask for the medical report or bring a doctor along to examine the boy. Christians of nowadays are ready to defend the devil as long as he is in the same church or denomination. |
gidgiddy:The same way there is no tribe called south/south, there is no tribe called south east or south west. All are artificial creations for political expediency by various governments since colonial times. There was not even a tribe called Igbo or Yoruba when the European first got here. Every tribe answered their name - ie Bini, egba, Aro, opi, ibibio, etc. So unless you suggest we revert back to our primordial political Structures, any other structure would be build of colonial political legacies. |
Pimine:You are welcome. We are all in this mess together. Now it is criminal and quite malicious to tell people not to feel aggrieved when you have given them a name they do not bear, meanwhile the Fulani herdsmen who have even outdone the dreaded Boko Haram are being treated as kings. There is no problem with feeling aggrieved, the problem is how you act on the aggrievement. A rightfully aggrieved wife might murder her husband, that does not exonerate her from the death penalty. There are legal or strategic means of showing her aggrievements. It's no news that the government have failed either by ommission or commission with the Fulani herdsmen issue, even the US and other international bodies have acknowledged that. The next step is to now strategically tackle the issue. You see the York Yorubas have taken strategic steps to confront the Fulani menace by instituting Amotekun. The governors and political leaders coalesced to form the security outfit. The Fulani biased government first challenged the legality of the regional outfit. This forced the Governors to change it to states outfit backed by laws from the state assemblies. You see the issue is akin to a chess game. Now on the issue of making progress, what do you think would have been the right approach? Please don't mention the Eastern governors - those guys are soulless. We have been clamoring for our own security outfit for a long a while now, but it's quite obvious that the security of their people is of no importance to them.Even though the Governors are soulless, they are the best option you have. They are the one with the legal and political mandate to secure the states, and they have the necessary resources to fund the organisations. So my suggestion is to take the "@endsars#" route or "@bring back our girls#" route. Even though lots of youths lost their lives, they got what whey were asking for. SARS was disbanded, panels were constituted in each state to look into human rights abuse by SARS, police salaries were increased, etc. When last did you see police harass youths in flashy cars or with dreadlocks? The Buhari government has actually lost legitimacy in the international community and if not for the coronavirus virus pandemic that has distracted most western country, the buhari government would have been under serious sanctions by now. Most people just criticize without a better alternative.I advice you guys to employ civil disobedience, peaceful protests and social media campaigns to get the Governors to secure the lives of easterners. |
Pimine:That's according to IPOB and it's supporters, but according to Nigerian law, IPOB is a terrorist organization. It has been gazetted. So unless the government removes it from our laws and the official gazette, IPOB remains a terrorist organization in Nigeria. It just like the Gulen Movement in Turkey. It is a terrorist organization in Turkey but it's not in the US. You guys need to learn to separate your emotions from reality if you want to make any progress. |
ada9ja:My sister, he will start calling you efulefu or afonja soon. IPOB members behave like Trump supporters, they believe kanu is the only lord and saviour of the igbo race. At least Trump has constitutional powers to do all he does - rightly or wrongly. Who gave kanu the powers he wants to wield? IPOB members that there are no other recognisable authority in igbo land except kanu. Governors- the don't recognise, other political leaders - they dispise, traditional rulers nko - they ignore. If IPOB was led by an intelligent strategist, he would have gathered his millions of supports to government house, state assemblies and traditional palaces to compel the Governors to spend the billions of naira allocated for security votes to actually provide security. Each of them can former their own security outfit according to extant laws and the merge them or a unit to collaborate on the security of the East in general. I feel this is just a stunt by Kanu to collect dues from helpless easterners by saying he needs money to run the security outfit. Establishing and running a security outfit is a very expensive venture. You need huge funds to pay the volunteers (besides you need to feed and house them and provide for their welfare) and buy equipments like vehicles, weapons and communication gadgets. How long do you think he can sustain the outfit on public donation and dues? |
gidgiddy:That's the only legal authority you have to work with. Any other unrecognised body would be termed terrorist. OPC as a security outfit was banned by OBJ. Civilian JTF was formed by the FG. A collaboration between the army and local militia. |
ensamy:That's my issue with my eastern in laws, they always fight the right causes the wrong way. What happens after the marauding Fulani herdsmen are no more or long intervening periods when there are no attacks. Kanu will turn the security network on his fellow igbo men, the ones that oppose him or don't agree with his vision, the ones he calls "efulefu". That's not if he does not turn them against the Nigerian state. The Governors can be terrible, but at least they are limited by other state apparatus like the legislature and Judiciary apart from oversight by the federal government. Who will control Kanu and IPOB if they get instruments of violence? |
RedPanthar:Simple answer. Hisbah and Amotekun was constituted by governors, who are the chief security officers of the state. Under which authority did Kanu constitute a state or regional security organisation? Ok. If ESN arrests fulani herdsmen or others commiting crimes, what will be their next course of action? Do they have the power to prosecute them? Yes, a security outfit is seriously required for the eastern region, but a banned organizational led by a fugitive is not the person to create and run it. Easterners should demand that the Governors should actually do their job. |
HerMajestyCares:Not 200 million. At least one quarter of that 200 million is less than 18 years ( I don't know the mandatory age for registration). Out of the remaining 140 million, NIMC said they have registered about 30 million since they started registration 7 years ago. That leaves the number yet to register at about 110 million. Let assume N100 million for sake being generous. This simply means NIMC is required to register 100 Nigerians between now and February 9th 2021 ( 35 days excluding weekends), which translate to 2.85 million registrations every working day. |
Timiofak:Yes. Herd immunity. |
musicwriter:This was the tv series that made me question Christianity and religion in general. It made a very long lasting impression on me. It shows me that the human mind can be made to believe just about anything, no matter how stupid or insane. All religions have elements of insane beliefs that makes sense only to the believer but sounds stupid to people of other religions. |
Kobojunkie:What he meant was that this is not a case of rape, since the ladies agreed willingly without force. Unless any of the girls are underage. But then underage is even not very defined in Nigeria. Even in more civilised nations, he cannot get charge for rape. If taken to court for the children's maintenance, I am sure he will not be able to pay for all 20 children, so must likely he will end in jail for defaulting. |
WAECMATHEMATICS:So? State to you. But, to many of us, it's fresh news. |
Omo, it's a good policy, but then every good policy is subject to abuse. bigtt76:Whether it's recognise black market or not black market is a fact you can't wish away. It's will always be there. 2. The black market would get saturated at a point in time because no business man or woman would go there to source forex for business and the black marketers would not sell to the banks at the CBN rateIf that happens, then that effectively destroys or eliminate the black market, which has been the goal of the CBN for decades 3. Naira in circulation would be mopped up at a point in time resulting in the dollarization of the economy (no one would want tk be paid in naira)This is a good thing as there will be more supply of dollars than naira, leading to a rise in the value of the naira. Remember we imports most of our consumer and even industrial goods from oversees and in dollars. So, cost of goods will fall and inflation will fall. 4. At the end of the day, beneficiaries would have no option but to exchange with the banks or hoard in their domiciliary accounts. That is also good. Banks have been ripping customers off by forcing them to exchange their dollars sent from abroad at extremely low rates, and then selling it back to them at extremely high rates. |
Hammergirl:That na because you never jam desperate situation. If you and your pikin never chop for 3 days or you don't dey clock 40 you never marry or after 15 years of marriage you never miss period for one month. You go do anything pastor or babalawo say make you do. These pastors are predators that wait for the most vulnerable and psychologically wounded prey. |
PrideofLincoln2:I think the US has more than a few traitors. The whole Republicans Party seems to be prepared to betray the US for power and financial gains. How do you explain 73 million votes given these treasonable acts- the bounty to kill US service men in Afghanistan, the Ukraine quid quo pro scandal, the Helsinki scandal where Trump actually said he believed Putin over the US intelligence services and opening up US cybersecurity security to Putin? |
Chapter1vs6:The same trick that they use to collect 10% of the salaries of otherwise intelligent men and women. It's also the same trick yahoo boys use in collecting money from mugus. Just promise extraordinary rewards for small tokens (money or services ). |
LogoDesignerzz:Does not matter. If you registered with the phone you are currently using, just dial *346# with that number and then 1 on the pop up message. You NIN will display on your phone. |
feedthenation:Trump virtually gave Putin the key to the US cybersecurity. I used to think US citizens were super patriotic (no thanks to Hollywood ), but now I realize that in a war between US and Russia, many Americans will fight on the side of Russia.

Arrewa:Sorry to say, but if you are actually Fulani, then you are doing more to sabotage the Fulanis than helping them. Fulanis were accused of kidnapping over 500 little boys, you did not come out to condemn the very act. Anybody that goes about kidnapping little kids are worse than animals, because even animals are known to protect their young. Fulanis and Muslims were accused of cutting off the heads of over 50 innocent men, that simple went to earn a few naira for their families. No condemnation from you, your tribe or your religious leaders. You were all silent. The guys were even said to be shouting Allahu Akbar before slashing the throats of innocent men, no religious leader can out to condemn them and disown them. But, Saharareporters came up with a story accusing the kidnappers of being members of meyitti allah ( not even the mayetti allah itself) and all hell breaks lose - Sahara reporters is at war with Buhari, Fulanis, Islam, etc. Meanwhile, those that are killing, kidnapping and ransacking whole villages in the north are at peace with Buhari, Fulanis and Islam, abi? |
